Xerxes shadow

Project Overview

XERXES:SHADOW is a narrative driven first person space combat game with elements of exploration, puzzle solving, first person shooting, and a unique and integrated RTS component. From your state of the art Trident; a fast, and highly maneuverable space fighter, equip a host of powerful and unique weapons to take the fight to a new and terrifying alien threat.

The player takes on the role of Solomon, a former elite pilot of the Xerxes Fleet. With the help of your squad of fellow fighter pilots, you take on varied and challenging missions for the Xerxes Fleet. As the game progresses, the player hears the story unfold continuously through dialogue between a rich cast of compelling and layered characters. As you soar through dazzling nebulae, explore cavernous asteroids, and of course, put your skills to the test in action packed dogfights against the insectoid aliens, the Neonites, you’ll experience the compelling narrative unfold.

Once the player has acclimated to their role as a pilot, new RTS mechanics become available and grant the player command over larger space warships. Become a frontline commander and form your own strategy as you issue orders on the fly to your fleet. Once the order is given, partake in the battle from your own fighter, or watch the fireworks as your fleet brings wanton destruction to the vicious Neonites.

Jack - lead role / squad member

Role assigned to: Steve Jones Voices

Specialist, TALOS Two, reconnaissance specialist. Jack is the moral compass of the squad and much to the chagrin of his colleagues, is largely empathetic to the plight of colonialists and separatists. His natural curiosity and skepticism puts him at odds with Fleet Command, a service that often requires blind obedience. Although never outwardly insubordinate, Jack tries his best to impart an objective and honest view of any conflict and the moral ramifications of every choice.

A skilled diplomat with combat skills to boot, Jackson 'Jack' Davis grew up as the son of an ambassador, traveling the core and colonial worlds, never stopping anywhere for too long. While his high academic scores guaranteed him a fast-track to Command, he sought out low-level reconnaissance work as part of the Intel Corps, much to the chagrin of his parents. Masterful at embedding himself among local populations, Jack is known for his expert intel-gathering and for brokering diplomatic solutions where none seemed possible, especially in the aftermath of the SCU. However, his long-running association with colonials has been something of a red flag on his file and has long since dashed any hopes of a promotion beyond Specialist. Not that that matters to Jack.

Kenzie - lead role - squad member

Role assigned to: Rain Lefever

Corporal, TALOS Three. Kenzie didn’t join the Fleet out of patriotism or a need for employment. She joined to wield the power of a Mk3 Trident. With complete indifference to the politics or strategy of Fleet Command, Kenzie seeks one thing -- action. She craves firefights and finds herself bored unless someone or something is trying to kill her. To keep things interesting, she tries to compete with her colleagues on the number of kills and mission objectives she completes. This eagerness often puts her in harm’s way and at the front of any combat engagement. As such, it is this naivete that holds her back as a combat pilot. By not understanding the purpose of her actions, she becomes shortsighted to the enemy in front of her without realizing the enemies around her.

We are looking for a tone similar to the computer in Star Trek, voiced by Majel Barrett, is an iconic element of the series. Known for its calm and distinctive voice, it serves as the central information processing system aboard Starfleet vessels and installations for the lead characters ship and most of his complex interactions within that ship. This video is a good example of what we are looking for

Abrams - Lead role - science division director

Role assigned to: Dela 🎙️

Xerxes Science Division Director. Machiavellian with an almost fanatical obsession to achieve her desired results by any means necessary. With a self-confidence that pushes further and further into the territory of hubris, Abrams has a natural magnetism that is hard to ignore. Her rise to Director of the XSD was meteoric and unprecedented. As a mid-level research scientist in a remote facility during the Second Colonial Uprising, Abrams was left to her own devices with little oversight. It was here where her more unscrupulous experiments could hide in the shadows as she made breakthroughs on neurochemical enhancers, brain-Slate interaction & development, biotech and advanced weapons prototypes. She rewrote the book on XSD research and all it cost was a bit of unrestricted human experimentation on POWs and injured pilots. Her work helped to propel the XSD to be of near equal importance to Xerxes as its Fleet.

  • Your target is this. A growing Neonite mass in Canis 124 identified by Charon group at great cost. It’s emanating some kind of Black Zone. None of our instruments can penetrate it, and it's expanding. This is how the Neonites were able to strike Hadrian undetected;

Various Fleet Commanders - Smaller Roles

Role assigned to: Ranger H Fox

SANDAR ARLO

An up and coming frontline commander in the Xerxes Outer Fleet. Highly meritocratic, he values achievement and capability far above social stature or political allegiances. His high-risk high-reward battle strategies put him at odds with the Fleet’s Admiralty which he considers too risk averse. Despite his willingness to take risks, he still has full respect for the chain of command and knows where and when he should offer his insights.

IZIA VIALKE

Tactical and pragmatic. Among the elite commanders of the Inner Fleet that protects Core Space and the Core Authority. An elitist that believes in a rigid social hierarchy, of which she is at the top and everyone else is below her. The Core Authority considers her the ideal Admiral -- stern, cautious, calculating and upholding their ideals.

MORRO HAKKON

A stubborn and selfish Admiral that cares more for his ego and glory than the mission. He was afforded his station through nepotism and politicking, a growing form of corruption within the Inner Fleets. Despite his tactical errors from a rush towards glory, Hakkon continues to fail upwards with little reprimand, either by sheer luck or his uncanny ability to pass blame onto someone else.

  • Their last known coordinates were somewhere in the Trelick Expanse in Arcturus.

  • Based on their last report, they had just uncovered something. Contact was lost before they could transmit the data.

  • Not long after the Trafalgar Incident, every comm-relay in the Outer Rim went dark. We mistook it for a simple malfunction—until the Neonite swarm hit.
