Project Update: April 10th, 2020. 

Hello everyone!
Thanks so much for auditioning and following the casting call for the third chapter of the 'Whump World" audio series.
I wanted to let everyone know that I'm going to be closing auditions early, mostly due to all this time I now have in 'self-quarantine.' I feel that time would be completely wasted if I were not working on progressing my projects further. Though I do have a pretty good shortlist & idea of who I might like to cast, I will give everyone at least 48 hours to submit last minute auditions.
The new deadline is going to be in 2 days from now on Monday, April 13th at around midnight EST.
I do apologize for this sudden last-minute change and if it causes any inconvenience. Please keep on the lookout for a private message from me sometime on Monday for a casting offer, especially if you have been shortlisted! I'll make an announcement once I can confirm availability with those I cast.

Once again thanks so much for all the support given to this project and for the Quality Approval badge I got from CCC moderators on this. It's really good to know that all those years of my directing & producing similar audio-series has paid off in the quality of my work, I can tell you- It definitely didn't start that way, and I am always trying to improve-Practice makes perfect! lol

It's that time again! I'm opening some casting auditions for the third chapter of my "Whump World" series I am doing.

For those who do not know what this project might be about, Whump World is  a dramatic narrational reading series of short #whump stories that are submitted to or collaboratively written with me. 

These stories would usually be around 14-1500 words or so & are converted or originally written in a way to be spoken as an 10-15 minute audio-drama.

The Narration is the big bulk of it of course, but there will also be very short speaking roles for the characters as well as sound effects and suspenseful bgm.

There are currently 2 completed chapters of this series, First chapter can be found here in full and the second chapter is split into two parts which can be found here and here. 

 Please be sure to check out any of those chapter links to get a good idea for what the final product will look like.

The following are the three open roles for this chapter. Because this is mostly narration, the characters usually do not have too much dialogue- however this one does seem to be a small bit of an exception as there is a good amount of back and forth between the twin characters.

Kyla is the female Neko (cat-person)

Kyla and her brother Rino are both very smart and clever beings. They learn things a lot faster than a normal human would and they also are very agile with them being Neko’s and having cat-like traits. Though they are twins their personalities could not be more different. For example, Kyla is more outspoken, and would be the one to take risks first while Rino would more than likely follow along with her lead. Kyla would be the type that enjoys listening and playing classical music on piano. They both enjoy art as a side interest as well, though Kyla leans towards the fine arts while Rino likes to look at the more abstract things.

 I'm looking for a young teenage voice. Kyla should sound smart yet somewhat anxious- I am not leaning too much on a very whiny teenage valley girl. But I'd like to compare Kyla's character and voice as something similar to Mellisa Joan Hart when she was filming 'Clarrisa Explains it All' back in the 90's. Here is a good example to go by if you'd like to try some sort of impression, sorry the sound quality of this clip isn't that great- but I think it'll do:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrZD1ItkvQE  Melissa was 16 years old when she did this, notice how she naturally sounds a bit different from when she is older and plays Sabrina in "Sabrina the Teenage Witch": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgmMNByMog0 (This was the best example I could find- interesting how she plays as Sabrina in the sitcom but does not voice her character in the animated series. 0.0)  I am going for the younger version here but it would be a bonus if the younger and older version is possible with one actress.

Note: Rino is pronounced as 'Ree-no' as in "Reno, Nevada"

Rino is the male Neko Boy (cat-person) 

Rino's personality is more reserved than Kyla's. While Kyla would be the one to take risks first, Rino would more than likely just follow along with her lead. Rino is also the type who loves to read mystery novels and write poetry. 

Rino tries his best to keep his sister Kyla out of trouble but sometimes her curiosity gets the better of her. He is more likely to follow the rules to avoid punishment for both him and his sister, even if he knows that the rules are quite questionable. 

Rino and Kyla are supposed to be 12 years old so I will be okay with having a female audition for this role given it sounds like an adolescent boy.  Given his personality, he should sound kind of meek and unsure of himself.

NOTE: Kyla is pronnounced as 'Kai-La" & 'Neko' is the actual Japanese word for cat- it's pronounced like the 'Necco' Wafer Candy Company. (hopefully that's an easy way to remember!) 


  • Gah! Kyla! What was that for?

  • That’s because that book only covers English words. Neko is the Japanese word for cat.  Makes sense for us, doesn’t it?

  • (hesitant/uneasy) M-Maybe you’re just looking in the wrong book?

'Mother Deborah' is the so-called caretaker of the Neko twins.  Her primary job is to ensure that they are conditioned to serve a purpose.

The laboratory would not invest this much time and money into them to have them not perform to the utmost degree. 

Things such as unnecessary emotions and curiosity are to be squelched by her with cold precision. In short- she is the strict punisher. 

Imagine her to sound like what an 50-60 year old traditional nun who runs a strict catholic school might sound like when very angry? 




  • What is going on here? Why are you shouting?

  •  You know the rules! Don’t ask too many questions.

  •  You know I can’t overlook this and what that means, Don’t you?
