Transformers Unity Episode 5: Ratchet Did a Bad Deed [3D Animation]

Project Overview

Let's explore what would happen if an Autobot accidentally squished an innocent human. After all, life happens; in this case, death happens.


This story is a twist on a concept from Transformers Prime called synthetic Energon. This animation explores the psyche of the PTSD-stricken Autobot medic, Ratchet and how he externalizes his mental escape through his addiction to alcoholic substances.




Here's the logline for the narrative:

'Ratchet Did a Bad Deed' is a short film about a soldier and field medic who will do what it takes to forward the Autobot cause and ensure nothing stands in the way of his allegiances. He's a grumpy alcoholic who masks his war-stricken mental torment with substance abuse.

When an inadvertent accident occurs as a result of Ratchet's clouded mind, the extent to which he will go for the sake of the Autobots is tested and the humanity of his peers is compromised. A dark and morally gray murder-cover-up ensues and all the while Ratchet wants nothing more than to disassociate from it the perpetual mental strife. 

Alas, he fails to overcome his PTSD and sense of duty as the sounds of war haunt his dreams only to be momentarily silenced by trying to drink his problems away.

The first series that Cupencil Productions has undertaken is Transformers Unity. Transformers Unity is a 3D animated fan series produced by Cupencil Productions. The show is about Team Prime and the shenanigans they get up to on Earth as they face an imminently approaching war in space and the territorial street-thug-type rival group, the Stunticons. The latter seeks to enslave and expand their Earth-bound empire. Witness the Decepticons, led by Lord Megatron, who has lost his way in his mission to overthrow an oppressive Cybertronian dictatorship. See Team Primer, run by Sentinel Prime, who is forced to step up and revive a fallen elite guard. Finally, watch Optimus Prime grow from an inconsiderate, sarcastic wise-ass to the leader we all know him to be. Can he help Team Prime overcome their differences and defend the freedom of the universe? Let's see if our heroes have what it takes to unite and light our darkest hour in Transformers Unity.

He's a no-nonsense Decepticon hunter who dedicated his past years to locating and shutting down 'con sightings through covert-ops hunts. He tends to minimize compromises. All his personal relationships have gone down the drain due to his obsession with killing hidden Cybertronians. It took him a while to trust Team Prime, and a part of him still doesn't know if it is wise to team up with the Autobots knowing their power scale.

Sergeant Sam Witwicky is the Autobot liaison for the Cybertronian elimination organization, Skywatch. Skywatch is a privately owned militia gathering that the United States government tolerates on account of mediation with Spike's dad, 4-star general Daniel "Sparkplug" Witwicki.

Before he was dishonorably discharged, Samuel was also a highly skilled soldier who became the guy they sent in to get the job done. Before he enlisted, he was briefly a construction worker. He's seen it all but giant shape-shifting robots; even that's got him shaken.
