Project Overview

Hello all,

This is an open casting call for an Audio Drama - likely to be part of a series:  The Infinite Realm:  Denouement.  There are several roles that will need to be filled including assistant writers but primarily voice actors.  This project has a very small budget which is subject to change, either increase or decrease in the future.  In the unlikely event that profit can be made from it this can be revisited in the future however for the time being there should be an expectation that this is not a professionally paying project.  Applicants must be 18+.


BUDGET UPDATE:   Currently I am able to work with a small budget.  Subject to change depending upon available funding.

The Story

Charlie Bennett has always been an inquisitive young man, often sticking his nose into places where it doesn't belong.  While it has never gotten him into trouble in the past.  This time however, things are different.  An unexpected find in his favourite shop and a run in with an irritatingly ever-present thief find him running from danger and the potential end of the world.


Audtioning and Deadlines

The script for this drama is still in production however the deadline for auditions is July 20 with no intention of extending at this time.  In the event that the roles required are not filled by then, the deadline may be extended.  As the script is a working script and there is no release date for episode 1 as of yet.  Ideally the episodes will be released bi-weekly but will at least be released once per month.  Recordings of lines should be submitted within 1 week of receiving your lines.  In the event that extra time is required please advise before the due date.


You are encouraged to audition for as many roles as you wish to.  It's also encouraged for you to audition for any Extra parts as well.


Recording Requirements

All recordings, including auditions should be clean and unedited (unless otherwise stated).  This means no background noise (fans, lawnmowers, cats, people), and a nice clear sound.  If your audio is too quiet it may not be useable as adjusting audio too much can affect the quality.  Even though this is not a paid production we are looking to keep it as professional and cohesive sounding as possible.


What you can expect

In this project you can expect to have input.  It is meant to be an inclusive experience in which no one feels uncomfortable to participate.  This means that you can expect a welcoming atmosphere and no egos.  You can be assured that the script will not include any racism or racist language, ableism, slurs, etc.  If you have a concern about something you are seeing in the script you are encouraged to bring attention to it as it your project as much as mine and I want you to take pride in being part of it.  You will have access to the full script - not just your lines.

You are not required to advertise the project once it's live, however you can feel free to if you'd like.


Discord

Once casting is complete you will be sent a private link to the discord.  Please don't post your discord name here as I will not be adding anyone directly.


Professionalism

As stated, this project is meant to be as professional as possible.  This means that as you will be credited for your work.  If you are found to be behaving in a less than savory manner on social media or otherwise, you will be removed from the project.  This includes but is not limited to:  Doxxing, Harassment, Inappropriate messages, Racism, Homophobia, Cyberbullying, etc.  The contents of the script are CONFIDENTIAL UNTIL POSTED and should not be shared outside of the the cast and crew.  (Don't make me give you the Tom Holland treatment).


Where will the project be posted?

As of right now there is not a specifically selected platform.  Currently Castbox is the probable option but input from the cast and crew will be taken into consideration.

    I could never have imagined how challenging casting would be. I have spent several hours just sitting here, listening and relistening to so many auditions, working with my casting team, and finding the voices that fit just right! Honestly if I could have cast every single person that auditioned I would have because I was completely blown away. I presume that there will be future projects and potential other casting calls in the future. I hope to grow this story create a series where I can bring in others offer lots of different roles.   • Final Thank You before Casting!

    I'm astonished! There have been so many amazing, talented, skilled people that have come forward with interest on my little project and honestly it makes me very hopeful that it could very well grow into something much bigger than I'd anticipated! For anyone interested, the current plan is to upload the story in parts to Castbox which you can find under The Infinite Realm (It may not be visible since there aren't any parts up yet!) I absolutely expect more related projects in the future so stay tuned for any future casting calls. Thank you all again so much.   • Starting to Short List!

    WOW! I can't express how shocked I am at both the outpouring of support for this project as well as the amazing level of talent and skill that has been shown in each and every audition! I wish I could cast everyone! As I've mentioned to some - Even if I don't cast you in a specific role there have been some voice especially that stood out for specific minor characters and also potentially for future projects. People who I may want on other projects will get a direct message with a link to the discord as well as those selected in casting! My casting team has started to work with me to narrow down some of the auditions! We took a few hours this weekend to start slimming the list down. There were so many that stood out to us and we're so pleased with everyone! Final decisions will be made by July 20 as the official close date of the casting is July 20. Thank you all again!

  • Narrator Role Open

    As the script develops it occurs that the project will benefit substantially from having a Narrator for certain points. I am not looking for any particular voice. I do want someone who has a clear and even tone. Someone who feels comfortable helping to unfold a story. I may also select from existing auditions for this position but if you are interested this role's audition is far more flexible. This role pays $10.00 USD per completed episode upon posting of that episode, the same as the main cast (subject to change).

    As we near 200 submitted auditions across the board I am overwhelmed in the best kind of way at not only the talent but the words of support. I thank all of you for the well wishes and the interest in the project. I have completed the build of the discord and have moved on to the prep work for the platform. Right now I believe that the project will be posted on Castbox, however I may look to posting it on other platforms as well such as Youtube and potentially others. I would be more than happy to receive feedback on where you'd like to see this story show up! Coming into the final week of the casting call I am also going to be reaching out to some of the people who have auditioned to get to know some of you better. As mentioned previously, I may still reach out even if I don't cast you in one of the lead roles. I have some specific ideas for minor or future characters and I would absolutely love to be able to offer certain people some roles directly in the future. I'm absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to witness so much outstanding skill and talent. Charlie Bennett is a charmer that likes to toe the line.  He's quick witted but woefully shortsighted at times.  His voice is youthful, clear, and without any gruffness - think Aladdin or Milo (from Atlantis).  When he's calm he rarely stumbles over his words but when he's in a sticky situation he becomes easily flustered.  Charlie ideally has a British English accent however any will do.

Locke does not have a defined gender and it is preferred but not required that someone who is either Non-Binary or Gender Fluid audition for the role.  Their pronouns are They/Them.  They also should not have an explicitly masculine or feminine voice.

Locke is Charlie's partner in crime.  They also enjoy collecting things and tinkering with little inventions.  Locke is a very fluid character for sound, with no one tone being preferred over another.  Authenticity is key with this character as Locke is loyal, dedicated, and driven.  Locke is a Ride or Die friend and would probably fight god if they felt like it.  (Voted most likely to punch a bigot in the face)

Hazel is a no-nonsense kind of girl who will absolutely take matters into her own hands if she needs to.  She's the friend that everyone needs to talk some sense into them and has absolutely zero hesitation when it comes to giving someone the tough love they need.  Sometimes she can come off as brash but through all her forward nature she's very careful to never hit where it hurts.  She'll be sharp when she needs to but she always knows where the limit is to avoid hurting others.  She often comes off as the mom friend although sometimes she's more like the wild aunt, it purely depends on the situation.  While an English accent would be ideal, any is fine.

Hazel would ideally be voiced by someone from the BIPOC community.

Intentionally left vague for authenticity - this is the Big Bad Evil Guy.  Every story has one in some way.  No specific gender or voice type is required.  The audition lines have been intentionally left without direction as I would like for those auditioning to interpret them as they see fit.  This role is a major one but will not appear in all episodes.  With this role I'm looking for something unique.  This is NOT a wacky cartoonish character.

Zircon is Ruby's companion/familiar.  She is a cat/feline type creature (as she is adamant that she is not merely a cat).  Zircon is sassy and has a superior attitude.  She only likes Ruby and often talks down to anyone else.  Despite her behavior toward most others, she is fiercely loyal to anyone she might consider an ally.  Zircon should have almost a meow in her tone behind her words.

Crane is a demon.  He is a charmer and a smooth talker with a ego.  He plays second fiddle only to the BBEG and only out of obligation.  In truth he only works for himself and he has narcissistic tendencies.  Thanks to his obligation he plays the messenger for BBEG as well as bodyguard.  Voice tones should take hints from Malachite in the DIC Dub of Sailor Moon.

Haughty and proud, Blight is a Grand Sorceress.  She despises being called 'Witch' as she feels it is demeaning given her status.  She and Crane frequently butt heads as she loves to antagonize him as they both technically serve the BBEG however she is not bound to serve in the same way that he is.

Blight should very much have a typical 90s anime villain tone with the dramatics and the theatrics.  (Think that classic "oh ho ho" laugh behind the hand)
