The Useless Duke's Daughter Webtoon Dub Casting
Project Overview
Hello and welcome to my first casting call! I'm the creator of an upcoming webtoon (that was adapted from my light novel) that is in the middle of a remake. Amidst this, I kind of wanted to dub the two-part prologue as a side project. Do note that I can't pay you a lot since my budget is tight and I'm currently a broke, fresh graduate :( For now, I will only want to dub the first two episodes of the webtoon so there's not a lot of dialogue either way (although, do note that the first two episodes are incredibly emotional and important!)
UPDATE: For some reason I forgot that there’s a narrator in the second episode so yea... Extra role added!
Eventually, if I get more Patreon followers and have access to ad revenue, I might turn this into a permanent project in the future (or like... if I get a job next year lol). Anyways, at the current moment, treat this as a one-time thing with a side of possible long term development!
Webtoon Details:
When May opened her eyes, she found herself stuck in the body of Evangeline Alcmene, the daughter of a duke and also one of the three MCs in an unfinished novel she was reading before she'd died. Unfortunately, the novel world she is in is doomed to be destroyed in a few years. Being the only one who knows the identity of the hidden villain, May, now Evangeline, has no choice but to undertake the role of the saviour, bravely stop the villain's plans and save the world.
Requirements to take note of:
- Please have discord so we can keep in touch!
- Have a good enough quality mic so I can hear all of your bootiful voice without sounding like you're trying to talk to me from across the hills :')
- Be able to send me MP3 or WAV audio files
- TAKE NOTE: I won’t decide to cast the role until the deadline (or at least until a week before the deadline) because I want to hear as many auditions as I can! So if you’re worried why I have not casted anyone yet despite it being weeks later or if I reviewed your audition positively, it’s because I really want to take the time to decide
- Don't be afraid to really go all out and dig deep into your emotions!

May/Evangeline is the main lead and the one who speaks the most in this series. She's kind of a tomboyish character so she's really energetic and witty most of the time. She goes through a range of emotions since she's very expressive of how she feels and hardly conceals her thoughts. However, she can get serious when she needs to be so be prepared to be flexible with her character and how fast she switches emotions.
May has the most lines in the entire series no matter which episode it is. There might also be times where I might want to narrate her thoughts.
[Flustered, frustrated and surprised; she's also semi-screaming at the end] Wait- No! No! No! You're kidding me, right? Don't tell me the chapter ends there?!
[Shouting] WAIT- DON'T GO!
[Confused and very dazed] W- where am I? How did I get here?
One of the two main male leads of the series, Kai is the son of a high noble and was brought up in high society. However, unlike his background, Kai is extremely outgoing and often can be seen as the happy-go-lucky character. He's too nice and trusting so most of the time his lines are pretty energetic and normal. His earlier lines are extremely emotional though so I'm looking for someone who can really emulate that anger. Kai has a mid-lower voice range so I'm not looking for a teenage sounding voice.
For now, since I'm doing only two episodes, Kai only has a total of 13 words so it'll be a fairly short project for you. However, if I want to continue this in the future, he will of course have more lines ^^
*Most important lines of the first episode*
[Trembling voice from the shock so this should be almost an audible whisper] You bastard... How could you... [transition to shouts of anger] HOW COULD YOU BETRAY US LIKE THIS, ELIJAH!
[Here, he is calling out to his friend] Hey... Heyyyy! [pause and then switch to grumbling and mumbling at the same time] My god, did you HAVE to jump off your horse so recklessly?
[teasing voice] Oh hooo? What's with that look on your face? Have you fallen in love with someone?
Elijah is someone who is cunning and tends to be quiet most of the time. However, he is a charmer and a deceiver in terms of appearance. His voice is usually calm and soft however, there are lines where he needs to sound menacing and even slightly arrogant because well.... he's the villain. So if you think you can emulate this type of character well, then go for it!
Like Kai, Elijah has very little lines in the prologue, which is basically the first audition lines mentioned above. If I decide to make more dubbed episodes in the future, Elijah will definitely have a lot more lines as he plays a huge role in this story!
[smirking, soft and somewhat arrogant tone] Finally... [time to put on your best evil laugh] HA HA HA!
[flirty, teasing tone] Goodness, my lady! How could you forget about this extremely, handsome face?
This might be a little difficult role to play since I kind of imagined this voice to sound like a ethereal, soft type of voice (you know, like one of those heavenly voices) so I completely understand if nobody can perfectly emulate this role. I might end up skipping this part of the episode if I can't find one that suits this role, but please do give it a try!
[soft, sad and almost weeping voice] I'm so sorry for pulling you away from the afterlife, child of the Moon...
[still same tone as the one above but with a note of desperation] Please... I beg you... Please save this world. P- please save him.
The narrator of the second episode must have clear enunciation and pronounciation (I will help you out with that don’t worry!) and be able to narrate in a very dramatic manner (not in a monotonous manner). The narrator must be sure not to rush through their lines, and be able to take pauses when necessary
In the novel, the demons are creatures that mysteriously appeared from the underworld.... And the ones fighting these creatures are known as [dramatic pause] the holy mages
And finally, Elijah Soleil... childhood friend of the second prince and eventually... [dramatic pause] The one who betrays [emphasis] EVERYONE
