Hello, once again! And probably not for the last time either!

I am the director of The Trial of Danganronpa: Law & Order, an in-progress video series based off of both the Danganronpa franchise and the Ace Attorney franchise. We are currently in the process of producing an episodic audio-drama prequel series, 'The Jurist Files', giving background information to the sixteen participants in the Ultimate Jury Assessment alongside the overseer of this Killing Game, Themis. Our main series, which will be presented in the typical Danganronpa formula, has been deep into production since the first staff call was published, with a lot of the plot, character development, amongst other details being mostly finalised.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

So, why are we doing another VA casting call?

In this final voice actor call, we are looking to fill the final five main roles in the series. Separate from the Killing Game, a secondary plot inside a locked-down courthouse will push a detective, his assistant and a collection of legal professionals to their absolute limit, as the connection between both groups will slowly reveal itself across the course of the story. Two of these roles have already been cast, being the defence attorney Kai Ueno and the prosecutor Risa Iwase, who will preside over the case that the Ultimate Jury were set to oversee.

This casting call will be up for a much shorter period of time in order to open up our options as to what characters may appear in respective prequel episodes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Before You Audition:

  • You need to be 16+ to audition.

  • Please be prepared to be able to meet deadlines. However, we are more than willing to accommodate to everyone. The last thing we want is for a team member to become overwhelmed and stressed.

  • Please make sure you have Discord to communicate with the team and be prepared to do just that. We value communication heavily across all departments.

  • There will be no casting done until the deadline hits.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

When Submitting Your Audition:

  • Please record your auditions in the 'ABC-ABC-ABC' format. You can have a maximum of three takes for each line, but you are not required to.

  • Within the additional notes, please leave a name you would like to go by, your Discord username and any additional information you feel you should add.

  • MP3 or WAV format.

  • Your voice quality will be very important to how far your audition may go with us. If there's a significant amount of background noise or you are consistently peaking for example, there's a good chance that your audition will be rejected almost instantly.

  • If possible, please do not submit an audition recorded on your phone. However, an external microphone attached to your phone is more than okay.

  • Whilst each line will have basic guidelines, mainly that of how we feel they should sound, this doesn't mean you can't interpret them however you may wish. We value acting over everything.

  • Please don't artificially modify your voice in any shape or capacity. You will be rejected instantly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The Trial of Danganronpa: Law & Order is a fanmade non-profit video series based off of the Danganronpa franchise by Spike Chunsoft and the Ace Attorney franchise by Capcom. We do not claim either property as our own and encourage you to support the original releases.

Latest Updates

  • Another quick update.

    Hello everyone!

I know it's only been a day, but something did come to my mind when looking back over the project description. Whilst we are an in-progress series, I must emphasise that this project will be a very long-term one due to the nature of Fanganronpas. Of course, most of you may have known this already, but I do apologise for not including it in the project description. We all here at Team Law & Order are in it for the long haul and we hope that all of you who are auditioning are too. Once again, it's been an honour to listen to all of your auditions so far and there's still 6 days left, so make sure you get those auditions in before the deadline if you're still thinking about it!

  • One week remaining!

    Hello everyone!

Thank you to all of those who have auditioned so far. It's truly been a pleasure to listen to everyone's auditions so far, and even more exciting to know by the end of next week, we'll have our last few cast members. As a reminder to those who haven't auditioned yet, there is only one week left, and after that, we will be making a decision. Whilst this may be our last VA casting call, we still have one more on the horizon to bring in new staff members to help with a lot of the workload, so please keep on the lookout for that if it may interest you!

John Sholmes

Unpaid
Role assigned to: Trey Smith

(john,  sh  -  ohl  -  ms)

"Elementary!" A phrase passed down from generations of the Sholmes family, now finding its home in John Sholmes, a private detective originally from the United Kingdom, having called Japan his home for the past decade. Originally called to Tokyo High Court alongside his assistant for a meeting with the Chief Prosecutor, Sholmes finds himself taken captive and trapped inside the courthouse, all under the watchful eye of a large group of masked individuals. Whilst order is maintained amongst the crowd of innocents, the reasoning for such an undertaking baffles Sholmes enough to investigate the purpose of these bizarre events and how they connect to the mysterious disappearance of the first-ever Ultimate Jury.

Voice Description: Medium-low male vocal range. Overflowing with confidence with a witty aura about him. Never afraid to stick with his beliefs even with a large amount of push-back, which makes him be seen as ever-so slightly delusional.

Optional: Coming from the "Sholmes" family, John is naturally British. A Southern-English accent is not required, but you may choose to use one.

  • (Introducing himself proudly.) "I had figured I wouldn't have to introduce myself here! Does the name 'Sholmes' ring any bells?"

  • (Calming others down.) "Now, let's not panic too much! What on earth even happened here?"

  • (Solving a mystery with pride.) "This is the truth of the case! The one rightful conviction!"

Role assigned to: Sprink

(foo  -  boo  -  key,  ee  -  toe)

Ever since she was little, Fubuki admired the adult figures in her life, all of whom worked in or around the justice system. Her mother, a long-serving police officer, and her father, a well-respected defence attorney, Fubuki soon found herself wishing to follow in their footsteps to help serve the public, but a mixture of a poor attitude and an unwillingness to follow the rules put a stop to those dreams. It wasn't long after multiple rejections did Fubuki meet self-proclaimed 'Great Detective' John Sholmes. The latter saw a fire in Fubuki that not many did, as well as a keen eye for justice. He decided to take her under his wing, as she served as the assistant to Sholmes himself, learning the ins-and-outs of his rather eccentric equipment and the multiple ways to reach out to the truth. Getting caught up as one of the hostages inside the locked-down courthouse, Fubuki isn't exactly too worried, knowing both she and Sholmes will find out exactly what's going on in due time.

Also, she thinks that she's psychic.

Voice Description: High female vocal range. Always excited, seemingly about the next thing she's going to say. Up for anything and everything in pursuit of the truth. Similar to Sholmes, her own belief in herself is extremely high.

  • (Hands on her hips; smug) "Don't forget about me either! The great psychic assistant... Fubuki Ito!"

  • (Very moody) "Hmph! If you really /can/ do this all by yourself, then be my guest..."

  • (Trying to lighten the mood) "It'll be okay, right? We'll make it out just fine, I know we will!"

Hikari Akuma

Role assigned to: Mia.the_Artist

(hi (soft i)  -  kar  -  ree,  ah  -  koo  -  mah)

The first defendant to face the Ultimate Jury. Incriminated on counts of arson, Hikari is a seemingly sweet girl who seems to have simply been caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time in relation to her charges, having confessed to them in order to not hide her guilt any longer. However, any data on the girl, mainly her school records, seems to have been completely wiped from the system, bringing her past into question. She becomes one of the hostages held at Tokyo High Court during its lockdown and appears to be more than fine in the midst of what should be a very scary experience. Routinely spending the day with detective Sholmes and his assistant, Hikari is more than ready to support them in whatever they need to solve another grand case and get to the bottom of this incident.

Voice Description: Medium female vocal range. Extremely sweet on the surface with a 'give it all I can' attitude, appears to be truly remorseful for her actions that lead to her trial. Admires the Ultimate Jury greatly.

  • (Curious.) "Well, aren't we in quite the pickle? I can't believe little ol' me got caught up in something like this!"

  • (Greeting somebody.) "I'm Hikari! Hikari Akuma! Funnily enough, I was here on trial!"

  • (Deep admiration, softly spoken.) "The Ultimates... aren't they amazing?"

Wataru Echigo

Role assigned to: Seeker

(wa  -  tar  -  roo,  aye  -  chee  -  go)

The Chief Prosecutor is certainly no slouch, but he seemingly appears more out of his depth than he'd like others to let on. Wataru rose to the top of the legal ladder through hard work and tenacity, having been a mentor to the Ultimate Prosecutor himself. Holding a good bond with the executives of Law & Order Offices, the elite legal firm owned by the Chief Justice, Wataru is given a lot of power that he often does not know what to do with. Keeping a stern and determined attitude in public, people don't see what this man is like behind the curtain, even if many of them whisper about the many rumours concerning his apparent corruption. The legal system has been in doubt for years, and Wataru believes that he can be the one to set it right again with the introduction of the Ultimate Jury. Following the lockdown at Tokyo High Court, he has no qualms stepping up as a leader to see things through to the end.

Voice Description: Low-medium male voice. Whilst he seems prideful, it's clear that there's a sense of self-doubt always hanging over his head. Aims to properly prove himself as the leader he's been made out to be.

Note: This character has been temporarily voiced in the first Jurist Files (audio-drama prequel series) episode, but we are now looking for a permanent voice actor as he has taken a larger role in the story.

  • (Gracefully.) "Ah, I suppose I need to introduce myself. My name is Wataru Echigo. I'm the district Chief Prosecutor."

  • (Slightly struck with fear.) "W-Why would they do this to us?! What's the point in trapping us here without any goal?"

  • (Confident.) "There's no need to worry... if someone must step up, then I'll gladly do it!"

Masayoshi Sosonaka

Role assigned to: Ellacrium

(mah  -  sai  -  yo  -  shee,  so  -  so  -  nah  -  kah)

All rise and stand at attention for the Chief Justice of Japan himself. At only 35, Masayoshi became the youngest appointed judge to the Supreme Court, whilst at 50, he would make the jump to the Chief Justice position following the death of its previous occupant. Due to an increasing amount of doubt in the justice system and proven corruption behind the scenes, it was decided that Masayoshi's appointment would be necessary, even if it was seen by many as a 'huge risk'. Shortly after his appointment, Masayoshi created 'Law & Order Offices', an elite law firm and private company that aimed to hire, train and monitor law officials to become as virtuous and honest as possible. Whilst he may seem ruthless, Masayoshi is the perfect example of a commanding leader, able to conduct those under him like a maestro. However, even the lockdown of Tokyo High Court has him considerably worried, exposing a side of the Chief Justice that for once may make him seem as human as possible.

Voice Description: Low male vocal range. Very commanding, has an 'aura' about him wherever he goes. Always cares about the well-being of his employees and those around him. Extremely passionate about the field of law and making sure it is seen as honourable as possible.

  • (Interrupting a tense moment.) "Now, now. If we start fighting, we'll never escape such an unfortunate predicament."

  • (Honest and upfront.) "Whilst I may be the Chief Justice, you may treat me as any other individual here. We're in this together."

  • (Slightly sinister.) "... do they not know who I am? I figured criminals would know better."
