Project Overview
In honor of Tim Curry, I would like to humbly open this casting call for the next PenelopeHawthorn.TV full fandub production: The Rocky Horror Picture Show!
♡ Hi there. If you don't know me, my name is Penelope, or Pen for short, and I am your director and editor for this project! I have been a voice actor, director, editor, and screenwriter for voiceover content since about age 13 back in the 2010s (I am now 29 and studied film in college). Creating content like this is my passion. I'm a daycare teacher by day, voiceover content creator by night. My channel on YT is PenelopeHawthorn.TV.
♡ What are you looking for Penelope?
I'm so glad you asked. For this production, my goal is to find 18+ actors and singers who bring something uniquely their own to their role, while still honoring the energy and intentions of the original performance. I am not looking for accurate impressions here. I would prefer, and (I dare say) I think the late Tim Curry would prefer that we honor the innovative and imaginative spirit of the original production by creating something uniquely our own, rather than just imitate the source material.
♡ That's nice Penelope, but what exactly does all that mean?
That means details like gender expression, vocal pitch, and accents are not factors in the casting decision for this production. For example, you want to play Janet but you have an Australian accent? Not a problem. You want to play Rocky, but your voice is fem-presenting? Not a problem. Anyone can play anyone, as long as they capture the spirit or essence of the original material.
♡ What's the timeline for this Penelope?
-Rolling casting, with the aim of being fully casted by the end of November

♡ Why is the timelines so long?
I respect the time and energy of my actors. This is an unpaid passion project, and I know life outside of this hobby has to come first. I also like to leave a lot of wiggle room for my actors, in case of personal emergencies, so I don't have to recast unless absolutely necessary. I never want to stress my actors out. My goal is for my actors to enjoy the experience.
♡ What if something goes wrong?
If production goes slower than expected or experiences unexpected setbacks, I will revaluate the plan accordingly. I am open to releasing it later as needed, possibly for Valentine's Day.
♡ What if we get it done quick?
If production somehow goes quicker than expected, I am open to the idea of releasing this in June, in celebration of pride month.
♡ What audition format do you prefer?
MP3 files, AAABBBCCC format.
♡ Casting note: I am doing rolling casting. This means I will be casting people as I receive auditions. So do not hesitate or wait to audition!! Expect callbacks to occur for the lead roles upon request.
♡ How will this be organized?
Through a Discord server! Having a Discord account is a requirement for casting.
♡ Will the voice actors also be singing?
I would prefer to have the talents both singing and acting in this production in a single role per character, HOWEVER I am open to potentially casting one actor for the dialogue and another for the singing, so if you aren't confident in your singing voice, don't let that stop you from auditioning! You will still be considered.
♡ Side note: this is intended to be a very fruity production, created by a Pansexual Nonbinary director in celebration of The Rocky Horror Picture Show's themes of sexual expression and liberation. If you have any problem with the LGBTQ+ community, this is absolutely not the project for you! If you feel comfortable sharing your experience, I would love to hear if you are LGBTQ+ too! This will not be a factor in getting the role, but it is always nice to meet new people from the community. I would love to foster a supportive, accepting community of LGBTQ+ folks and allies through this production!

Don't play games, Dr. Scott. It was part of your plan, was it not, that Brad Majors and his female should check the layout for you - unfortunately for you all there is to be a change of plans - I'm sure you're adaptable, Dr. Scott - I know Brad is.

I would like if I may to take you on a strunge journey. It seemed a fairly ordinary night when Brad Majors and. his fiancee Janet Weiss (two young ordinary healthy kids) left Denton that late November evening to visit Dr. Everett Scott, ex. tutor and now friend of both of them. It's true there were dark storm clouds, heavy, black and pendulous, toward which they were driving. It's true also that the spare tyre they were carrying was badly in need of sone air. But they being normal kids and on a night out, well they were not going to let a storm spoil the events of their evening. On a night out. It was a night out they were going to remember for a very long time.
Emotion is a powerful and irrational master, and, from what Magenta and Columbia eagerly viewed on their television monitor there seemed little doubt that Janet was indeed it's slave.

A device which is capable of breaking down solid matter and then projecting it through space, and - who knows
