"The Curious Case of The Skystead Murder" is an original audio drama, written, directed, and produced by me!
The story follows the investigative murder of 27-year-old Casper Sparrow. Detective Dolly Jones, along with Officer Kalila Farrah are on the case to figure out who the murderer is of the first murder case the Skystead precinct has had in 30 years. Primary suspect, Attorney Chloe Kowalski, the girlfriend of the victim, is arrested on the spot due to the state she was found in by investigative officers, and multiple eyewitness accounts of her presence. Every thinks her to be guilty, except for her ex-best friend, and co-worker, Rachel Sweet, who plans to represent her in court, and prove her innocence. Drama ensues as it seems that nobody is to be trusted.
This is a completely voice-acted, non-monetized, audio drama, following the fictional investigation and court proceedings of Chloe Kowalski. This drama contains many sensitive subjects (such as mention murder, suicide, depression, mature language lgbtq+, etc..) and if you aren't able to handle them, I'd recommend not auditioning for this project.

-Feel free to audition for as many characters as you want. I may double-cast some people to play both major and minor characters, if there is not enough traction with this project. Please state if you would be fine with being double-casted or not if you audition for multiple characters, or if you'd rather only be one. That's totally fine!

Dolly Jones is the young-faced, yet old at heart, best Detective at the Skystead precinct. She is the extremely smart, and often stone-faced, and tends to want everything to be straightforward. However, Dolly has a soft spot for her partner, Officer Kalila Farrah, but refuses to let her know that. Throughout the investigation, Dolly lets go of her stone-faced facade, and allows herself to show emotion again.
Reinforcements arrived on the scene approximately ten minutes after called. Suspect was found close to the scene and promptly arrested. The victim’s body was sent to the nearest medical center for an autopsy. There were four witnesses who came forward with eyewitness accounts that pointed to Chloe Kowalski being the prime suspect. After police force investigated the scene, Kowalski was arrested on sight, and taken into custody.
Well, that’s not your area to figure out, is it? You’re just supposed to bring us the evidence, and we’ll come up with the case.
We aren’t certain it’s a murder case. Hell, we’re not even certain if there’s a case at all. We still have the preliminary examination to be looking forward to. Speaking of which, any idea who’s taking up prosecution?
Kalila Farrah is the partner of Detective Jones, and incredibly loves her job as an officer. She tends to jump to conclusions, and her opinion constantly shifts. While on the job she is very focused, off the job she is much more light-hearted and carefree. Her goal is to make Detective Jones she the world from a more carefree point of view, like she does, and not remain so fixated on her work.
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you have the right to stop answering at any time.
Sad poetry about a loved one? Sounds like a motive to me.... Oh, come on, Dolly— (Groans) I mean, Jones, it’s pretty clearly a motive. Boyfriend tries to send a secret SOS message through poetry. Girlfriend finds it, murders him before it can reach anyone.
Dolly, I was there at the arrest. Wait till you get a look at the scene. What a nightmare. There’s no way she didn’t do it!
Chloe is the primary suspect regarding the murder of her boyfriend of four years, Casper Sparrow. Chloe is a recent graduate of law school, and working as an attorney. She is a "genius" (using large words, and phrasing sentences like she's quoting a textbook) and often level-headed, except when regarding her feelings towards the people around her. When her emotions get the better of her, she is a complete mess, and has a hard time returning back to her level-headedness.
(Hysteric Screaming) Get your hands off of me! Let me go! I need to see him! Let me go, god damn it! Please! Arrest me all you want! I don’t care! Just let me see him! Please!
But I am guilty. It’s my fault he died. That means I’m the murderer. But I didn’t kill him. I didn’t kill my love.
You claim to hate me, but you’re so passionate on taking me as your client, to prove my innocence. Why is it so important to you that I am acquitted? If I’m jailed, then you don’t have to deal with me anymore. Isn’t that what you wished for after our friendship disbanded after high school? When you ran off with your girlfriend, because I was “too annoying” for you? Why don’t you just let this case go? I’m fine with being locked up. But I just want people to know: that even though I’m the reason my love has perished, I am not the one who caused that misfortune. I never hurt him... I’d never hurt him.
Rachel Sweet is the brash, yet sometimes kind, defence attorney and ex-best friend to Chloe. While she and Chloe hadn't been on speaking terms for years, Rachel steps up to help her prove her innocence in court, by acting as her attorney. Rachel is also the ex-girlfriend of Detective Jones, which causes even more tension on the already grueling murder case.
I’m here to save your ass, what do you think, genius? I’m a defence lawyer, and you’re my best friend- slash- worst enemy. I’m here propositioning to represent you in court.
Chloe, please! If you say that in court you’re done for! Your life’s on the line. Can’t you see that? I thought you were dubbed a ‘genius’ in school? A ‘genius’ wouldn’t plead guilty at a murder trial, when they are innocent.
Positive. I’ve looked into the case files at the precinct, and as soon as I read all those details, I knew there was something wrong. I’m sure that you’re being framed. And I’m going to uncover the real criminal. But, first, I need your blessing. And, for you to swear you will plead not guilty. We’re going to take this case to court.
Alexander Vader is the prosecutor on Chloe's trial, attempting to prove her guilt. Alexander is sly and cunning, and always seems to have a trick up his sleave.
Yes, your Honour.... The prosecution calls a witness who claims to have seen Miss Kowalski enter the apartment at the time of the crime. A Mr. Johnathan Meretz.
The prosecution is trying to stabilize the facts. Your Honour, I am attempting to determine if the victim was the one who entered the apartment the defendant was in.
Objection! Your Honour this question is impossible for the witness to answer. Because, there could been no way for him to have known if there was anybody else in the apartment before he saw the defendant. The defence's accusation is baseless conjecture! There is no evidence to support their claim!
Sallie Vader is the twin sister to Alexander, and a late-coming witness to Chloe's trial. She gives off uneasy, supervillian vibes, and sends shivers down whoever she's talking to's spine.
Oh look at you. Blaming anyone and everyone you can find for the murder. What else do you expect cops to do?
I’m not in the box, because my brother wanted so badly to take on this easy case. It's fine. I don’t need to give my testimony, anyway.

Johnathan Meretz is one of Chloe's neighbours, who provides a testimony in court. He is very sickly, and ends up coughing and sniffling most of the time.
That's him! That's the man that went into Miss Kowalski's apartment! (Coughs) He looked exactly like that.
It was exactly 2:35PM. I remember that exactly. That man in the photo entered Miss Kowalski's apartment. I know that for a fact. (Sniffles) And he looked just as appeared.
How am I supposed to know that? That's a question for a different witness. I merely witnessed the two of them enter the room. (Coughs) That's what I'm testifying about. For all I know, they could have engaged in some sort of strange, sexual activity that got a bit too carried away with the "kink" factor, and resulted in the poor victim being strangled to his death.
Daniel Caplan is the shy, witness of the murder of Casper Sparrow. He stammers a lot and is extremely nervous.
It had to have been Chloe Kowalski. I-I mean, nobody else was even in the damn apartment. Nobody else on that floor could have done it. We all have alibis.
Look, I like Chloe, I-I really do. She’s honestly a sweet girl. B-But, even the sweetest of people can have a dark side. You can’t trust anyone.
I-I don’t wanna do this anymore. C-Can I please leave the box?
Isabella is a kind, hardworking sex worker who gives a statement and testimony concerning the innocence of Chloe in the trial.
Chloe? Murder? Chica couldn’t even lift a plastic knife in middle school without panicking.
My words are just as important as any other person who will step into that box.
Oi, cariña, I understand. It seems like the one we love the most is the only one who doesn’t figure it out. No matter how loudly we seem to proclaim it, it’s never heard.
Sophia Dormer is the local night club singer, and ex-girlfriend of Casper Sparrow, who gives a testimony at Chloe's trial. She is soft-spoken, yet witt.y.
Sing anything that is jazz, smooth jazz, or that gives off a nighclub vibe. Sophia is a nightclub singer. There sn't a set in stone song yet for her to sing (a song will be picked to fit the voice actor's range), so you can sing whatever you feel fits her character. The drama takes place in 1999, so singing something from before then is a real bonus and can be the song chosen for her to sing (the choice to provide background music in your audition is optional.) She doesn't have a set-in-stone range, so any vocal talent can try out for her, just pick a song that fits your range. Some options to try and sing, if you need ideas, some songs you could try are "I've Got A Crush On You", "Why Don't You Do It Right?", "Someone To Watch Over Me", “The Man I Love”, "Crazy He Calls Me", "Send In The Clowns", "Autumn Leaves", "The Man That Got Away".

Speaking Line: Murder? What is this a movie? A fabulous drama full of passion and romance. Of course you’d come after the local nightclub singer.
Speaking Line: Oh honey, we all know that. But, still, it’s a fun little game.
The Judge presides over the case of Chloe Kowalski. They are gruff and take their job very seriously.
Is the prosecution ready...? Is the defence ready...? ….Thank you.... Defence, please rise, and present your opening statement.
Objection sustained. I'll allow testimony, if the prosecution and defence agree for the need of one. Mr. Vader, your thoughts?

Frank Kowalski is the caring father of Chloe and her sister Lizzy. He loves his daughter, and testifies for her innocence. He is devoutly religious.
Chloe is a sweet girl. She would never be capable of hurting anyone.
I don’t know what the hell you think you’re doing boy, but if my little girl ends up in jail because of you, you will have hell to pay.
If any of you damn heathens have the nerve to blame my little girl for this nonsense… Well… May God have mercy on your souls.
Lizzy Kowalski is the upbeat, rather loud older sister of Chloe Kowalski, and girlfriend of Simon Lee. While she and Chloe argue a lot, she loves her little sister more than anything. She testifies for Chloe's innocence.
Chlo, I swear to God, if you cry right now, I am going to start crying. And you know for a damn fact that that’s not going to be pleasant for either of us.
You know what? Fuck this! Literally, fuck all of this! I can’t believe we’re being put through all of this shit!
If you get up in that box in court tomorrow, I am leaving you. For good this time.
Mark Lawrence isthe leader of the forensics team. He takes charge of forensic investigations, and is a generally happy person no matter the circumstances.
It’s pretty nasty in there to try and come up with definitive pieces, ladies. The entire apartment is loaded with contradicting evidence.
There are multiple weapons that were readily available, that all contain Kowalski’s fingerprints and DNA. A knife, a rope, a book.
Not to mention, Kowalski’s clothes were soaked in the victim’s blood. Kowalski’s name was scratched into the surface of the desktop the victim was found at, multiple times. And then there’s the most definitive piece of evidence.
Simon Lee is the bad-mouthing, boyfriend of Lizzy Kowalski. He has a strong dislike for Chloe, for unknown reasons, and testifies against her in court. He is rather psychotic in nature.
Chloe Kowalski got herself behind bars. It’s about fucking time, if I say so myself.
Can I just say, Chloe, this entire experience is like a personal dream come true. I mean, granted, I would prefer if you yourself were the one to have kicked the bucket. But, I’ll take what I can get.
This is going to be fun.
Neil Marshall is a forensics officer, working alongside Mark Lawrence.
He, uh, means the note.
It said, “She kisses me. So I stay. She holds me. So I stay. She loves me. So I stay. She hurts me. But I stay. She beats me. But I stay. She hates me. But I stay.”
