This is an analog horror project inspired by The classic and eerie Character of the Cat in the Hat.
I’m looking for voice actors who can deliver natural, realistic performances, especially conveying fear, dread, and subtle creepiness.

The final audition should be submitted right here. Please include any social media accounts you use so I can credit you in the video description.
Compensation:
This is an unpaid project; however, it offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience and expand your voice acting portfolio. By participating, you’ll get the chance to have your work featured in a completed production, which can help you demonstrate your range, build credibility, and strengthen your portfolio for future paid roles. Full credit will be given in the description, and pinned comment.

- Tone: Calm, authoritative but caring
- Acting Direction: Warm fatherly voice with natural concern. Speaks clearly and firmly, but with affection toward his daughter. Slight tiredness in the voice due to the trip.
- You should sound like: A responsible young father around 38 years old.

- Acting Direction: Sweet child voice with natural childish cadence. Starts shy and nervous, becomes increasingly scared, desperate and hysterical as the story progresses. Real crying and breathing sounds are essential.
- You should sound like: An 8-year-old girl who is scared of being alone.
-Note: When (whispering) Whisper directly into the microphone. No vocal cord vibration, pure whisper. Slightly raspy and unsettling.

-(hesitant, still holding the door) My parents don’t let me talk to strangers… I’m waiting for the babysitter.
-(hesitates, but curiosity wins)...Can you really talk?

-(laughing in amazement) Whoa! How did you do that? He’s so pretty!
-It’s like a princess castle! How do you do that? Can you read minds?

-Yeah! But no cheating!

-Now I’m Simon! We’re playing Simon Says.
-Simon says… touch your hat!
-Simon says… hop on one foot!
-Simon says… pull a rainbow cat out of your hat!
-Sing!
-(laughing) Hahaha, you lost, silly! I didn’t say “Simon says”!

-(3–4 seconds of shocked silence, then a heartbreaking scream) MOM! DAD! NO! NOOOOO!
-What… what did you do…? You’re a monster! You’re a monster! Get out! Get out of my house!

-(sobbing, shaky breathing for a while, then a sharp gasp as she comes face-to-face with the Cat)

-(whispering, sobbing)The doors and windows are gone...

-(Whispering, crying in front of the phone) Please, please…!
-(sobbing) (whispering) There’s a monster in my house… he hurt my mommy and daddy… please come quick…
-(whispering) Emily… Emily Smith.
-(whispering) A monster cat hurt my parents and now he won’t stop chasing me.
-(whispering) It’s… it’s 142 —
-(broken, speaking into the void, whispering)…Did you do that…?

-(inhuman scream, sobbing hysterically) AAAAAAAAH! IT HURTS! IT HURTS! PLEASE STOP! AHH

*(Shocked, ragged breathing from the girl for several seconds)*

- Tone: Starts charming and playful → gradually becomes unsettling, distorted and menacing
- Acting Direction: Charismatic and theatrical at the beginning, with a playful edge. Slowly shift into something unnatural. Use subtle pitch shifts and distortion effects later. Keep high energy and confidence even when turning sinister.
- You should sound like: A young man around 30 years old (charismatic, slightly mischievous, but increasingly wrong and dangerous).
-Note: When (whispering) Whisper directly into the microphone. No vocal cord vibration, pure whisper. Slightly raspy and unsettling.

-(soft chuckle) I’m not wearing a costume. I’m The Cat in the Hat. And yes, I know a lot of things. I’m here to make tonight really fun.
-(sympathetic) Aw, poor thing. Sarah had a little accident. Nothing serious, but she won’t be able to make it. So they sent me instead. Isn’t a talking cat way better than a boring babysitter?
-(charming) I can do a lot more than talk. Will you let me in? I promise we’re going to have fun.

-(pleased) Just a little welcome trick. See? You’re not alone anymore.
-(smiling gently) Just a little. I know you like happy colors when you’re scared. And I know you’re scared of being alone… but you don’t have to be anymore. I’m here to keep you entertained until your parents come back.

-Shall we play hide and seek? I’ll count first.
-(playful but slightly teasing) Come on! You have to hide better than that!
- Oh no, try harder next time!
-(voice becoming slightly irritated) This isn’t fun if you don’t hide properly, Emily~

-(amused) Alright, boss. You’re in charge.
-(laughs)
-(chuckling) Oh, how silly of me, little one. You win this round, little mouse.

-Time to smash some piñatas! This bat is special. It hits really hard even if you don’t swing strong. Let’s get lots of candy!
-(grinning ear-to-ear, cheerful voice) Surprise!! I knew you missed them so much. So I brought them back so you could play with them. Isn’t it wonderful?
-(tilts his head, pretending to be confused) You didn’t like the trick? I thought it would make you happy…

-(voice heavily distorted, deeper, whispering) Now… let’s play hide and seek…I chase. You hide.
-(start humming the chorus of the song: Run, rabbit run)

-(trying to hold back laughter that slips out as a distorted chuckle)

-(whispering, eerie)Let’s play something else, little mouse. A simple game… Rock, Paper, Scissors.

-(sighing, almost bored) I can’t feed properly if you won’t play nicely… Fine. I’ll give you an exit.
-(voice suddenly charming again) Just jump. Everything will end. You’ll be with your parents. Don’t you want that? (Giggles)
