Project Overview

Deadlock has gained immense amounts of popularity following the City Never Sleeps update, which led to so many artists, animators, and voice actors joining this lovely community! Thus, I thought it would be appropriate to start a fan project while the hype train is still going, so….

Welcome to The Archives!

The Cursed Apple Archives is a fan project aiming to dub, create, and edit Deadlock content to post on various social media platforms. This can take the forms of comics, animations, skits, and more! This can easily be a very large project, so let’s jump into the audition details below:


General requirements

You must be 18+ to audition for any role. Please include your age when you audition, or a social media platform that contains your age. Adding on, please have a discord account as a server will be created once enough auditions are submitted. Your discord account or any other social media platform will be used for credit once we publish a completed skit/dub. If you are an editor, artist, skit writer, or animator, please include a portfolio or social media account that accurately shows your skills as a media creator! While this is not required for voice actors, it would be highly appreciated as well.


Voice Acting Auditions

Please record in ABCABC format—more than 2 takes are permitted. Audio quality should be good with minimal to no background noise. For characters, we are looking for accuracy to the original actor rather than fresh interpretations, so please listen to the included voice line reference if you need any guidance. More character auditions will open overtime depending on how popular this project becomes, order being on how popular the character is for skits and comics. For now we are starting with a small handful of characters to see how many people are interested. All voice acting will be credited properly and will NOT be subjected to any AI use.

Characters may be casted early given enough auditions, so please audition as soon as you can!


Editor Auditions

Editors will have the job of editing audio and clips/comics into a clean format for posting! Thus, I would highly recommend having experience of editing audio and clean transitions between scenes. As mentioned previously, please include a link to a portfolio/account that showcases your abilities as an Editor! All editors will be credited properly. Editing videos or editing voice clips/artworks via AI LLM models will not be permitted.


Artist Auditions

Artists will have the job of creating comics for our voice actors to dub and editors to edit for publishing! Dialogue within the comics will be created by our skit/comic writers, or by the artist themself if they so desire. All artwork posted by this project will be credited properly and will NOT be subjected to any AI use to any extent. As mentioned previously, please include an account/portfolio to showcase your skills as an artist!


Script Writer Auditions

Script Writers will have the job of writing the dialogue for our comics and skits. Voice actors will dub this script and artists will include it in their comics, if production goes in a script -> artist -> VA -> editor format. For auditions, please include a few short dialogue exchanges between characters that you have created yourself and post it either in the given text box in CCC, or in a google doc (or whatever equivalent). If you want to post a social link or portfolio showcasing your writing abilities, you are free to do so as well! Scripts written via AI or any LLM model will NOT be accepted as a viable audition. If a script has been written by more than one person for a single audition, all parties must be credited.


Animator Auditions

Details of this audition are subject to great change, as it will most likely be the most labor intensive audition. Animators will have the job of creating either 3D or 2D animations in collaboration with our script writers, voice actors, and artists. Any form of animation will be accepted, as long as no AI or LLM model was used. Please include your portfolio or social media account to showcase your skills as an Animator!

  • 1 Week before Shortlists and Upcoming Character Schedule + Extras

    4 days ago I was astonished by 50 auditions. We are now sitting at...125. 125?????? 125??? Ohhh picking people is going to be very difficult.....

    I digress, this update will serve as a reminder that the first wave of shortlists will occur in a weeks time, as I've been diligently listening to your auditions every night to keep things moving (whilst trying to keep my jaw off the floor--seriously, these submissions blow me away!!), plus an update on character releases and social media accounts!

  • Audition + Check in Update

    Hello hello! A general check in announcement/update since--50 Auditions and barely 2 days??? Oh my god???? I wasn't planning on making an update until a week later, but hey, times change!

    The support and auditions I've received so far have genuinely been the highlights of my days, and I cannot thank everyone who has auditioned enough for providing their voice/art for this project. All of you are such talented people <3
    With that being said, a few technical details/changes regarding auditions and due dates for clarification:

    DEADLINE UPDATES
    On November 13th, I am planning to Short List candidates that I am 100% certain on for roles. Concrete casting won't be done by mid/late December, but I do want to give answers as quick as possible since I know waiting for a role response is anxiety inducing... X_X
    Re-submitting auditions is 10000% welcome and encouraged! Give me your best takes!
    For new auditioners, even if some characters have shortlists already, please still give it a shot! Further down this post you'll see why.

    After the shortlists, I will post another update about the possible next wave of characters, social media accounts for the project, and a date for the extended deadline for the new characters. January 1st was the deadline for the current characters; this project will most likely continue casting until Spring/Summer of 2027 (though comics/skits may be already created during this time) for voice actors.

    Please make sure to review the project details and voice line references for submissions! This is more of a general reminder for future auditions and some current auditions--as having all submissions in one, general format makes it easier for me to list possible candidates for casting. Thank you in advance.

    I have decided that depending on the popularity of the character, more than one person may be cast for the role IF more than one audition is absolutely excellent. A few characters already have EXTREMELY strong contenders that absolutely blew me away, and seeing that having understudies/multiple main actors can ease scheduling for the project, I don't see why only one person needs to be limited to one role! I may limit this to 2 people per role for now, BUT if more auditions roll in this may be subject to change!

    Viscous' auditions may have a filter on them for submission. Being upfront, I forgot to specify whether or not Viscous' lines should have a filter. This was a mistake on my part, and I do sincerely apologize for the lack of clarity. Thus, to make things even and to avoid confusion, filters on Viscous' submissions are allowed. (Other character rules w/filters will remain unchanged).

    That should cover everything for now--keep up the great work and spread the word! The Cursed Apple Archives still has many stories to share and preserve...
