TBoA (full name TBA) Webcomic Trailer

Project Overview

  • "A man tormented by a malevolent spirit, an enigmatic priest who shares his fate, and a mysterious young candlemaker determined to save them both.

  • Follow Rose as she fights to unravel the mystery her grandmother left behind in a world ravaged by Moonblight - an abhorrent curse that dooms the living and the dead together in a miserable coexistence."

Hello! I'm Hyannah and I'm currently working on a trailer for my upcoming action/supernatural webcomic. I would like to include voice acting by lead characters to add extra flare! All character scripts are between 50-80 words.

Latest Updates

  • (TBoA) Minor roles!

A few minor roles for TBoA have been opened! Some miscellaneous dialogue from Ashwick townsfolk and the like. Feel free to have a look at the casting call.
  • TBoA Casting Call Closed!!

A huge thank you to every one who sent in an audition! I accidentally left Wolfe and Hunter open a little longer than I said I would - I've been busy with graduation today and it ran on a lot longer than planned. Both of their roles will be labelled as "closed to offsite actor" until I comb through all the auditions again to cast the final VA. I'll be sure to reply to any of my PMs before the night's out also, and if any of you want individual feedback just let me know. I cannot thank you all enough. At the risk of repeating myself for the millionth time - - it means the world to me and I'm blown away by the response. I'll probably have future characters that need voices for small miscellaneous content so this won't be the last time I use the site. Regards, Hyannah.
  • Final Casting + Extended Deadline for Wolfe & Hunter

Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a good week. I just wanted to give a quick & concise update to the TBoA casting call. The cast for Rose, Mallory, V. Barton & Ghasper have been chosen and their slots have been closed. I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who auditioned because I was blown away by all of you. If any of you want individual feedback or constructive critique please message me personally. Slots for Wolfe and Hunter will remain OPEN for another day. I'm incredibly impressed by a great number of you but I'd like to give it another 24 hours to see if anyone can match the tenor and delivery of my recently added character examples. Thanks everyone! Regards, Hyannah.
  • A Sincere and Heartfelt "Thank You".

Hello, everyone. I just want to say thank you so far to everyone who has auditioned for TBoA's announcement trailer. I am only one person and this project of mine is a labour of love and huge investment of my time. When the idea of voice acting was first suggested to me I had no idea how to go about finding talent. After weeks of dead-ends, hired VAs dropping out and many intense headaches I came across this site, and the response I've gotten after only a couple of days is overwhelming. I can't thank you all enough. I've listened to every audition all the way through and will continue to do so. Hearing people breath life into the characters I've spent so much time developing moves me in ways I can't explain, and I hope you're all aware of that. My heart is bursting with gratitude. My Sincerest Thanks, Hyannah.

Misc. Ashwickans
open
Unpaid

Miscellaneous lines from the god-fearing townsfolk of Ashwick. I'll use some clips in the trailer, and some will be archived for later content. This will be a kind of open-ended role with no one VA being cast, and I won't have to contact anyone to re-record! I will let you know via comment if I've saved your audition, though.

Ashwickans (pronounced: Ashwicken, like an affliction) are a mixing pot of various British dialects. Mostly lowerclass cockney, some Scottish, even a Dubliner or two. Whatever you're used to. Feel free to add some of your own lines too if you think you have something that'd sound nice.

  • Spiteful Ashwickans (any gender): "Heretic!" || "Shameful woman..." || "Away with you, wretched harlot!"

  • Kind Ashwickans (any gender): "To don the colour of the Blight so shamelessly in a town like this ... you must be an outsider." || "Poor thing. You'll find no salvation here." || "You look like a cat amongst the pigeons on a night like this."

  • Crazy Ashwickans: (any gender): "Can you hear it? The Bleeding Moon ... that sticky, churning thunder. (excited exhale) Do you ever wonder how it would taste?" || "To be Ashwickan ("Ashwick-en") is not a rite, it's a curse!" || [manic giggling]

VOICE: Rose’s voice is gentle and kind, but she speaks clearly and, when challenged, with stubborn conviction. Somewhere in the mid-high range without going too far the latter.
With tender empathy towards others and a strong sense of virtue, Rose’s heart bleeds through and through. Little is known of this candlemaker’s life before her arrival in Ashwick and you get the feeling she’d like to keep it that way.

Her presence in town causes a stir amongst the religiously devout when she claims to have found the key to curing the Moonblight through the use of her peculiar candles.

  • [Clearly, tenderly. An oath spoken before exorcisms.] “If ever the night obscures your path, and no stars will guide you - I will be your shepherd. May your vagrant soul meet your bones once more, and find peace in the gentle soil.”

  • [Angry, upset. Starts off quiet, voice shaking w/ emotion, ends in a passionate shout.]  “ … I know, but it doesn’t matter if they think I’m strange. Because I’m going to save this town!”

  • [Softly, sounds somewhat pensive and melancholy] “As a child, I was told … that a life truly lived is one lived for others. To give all and expect nothing in return - that is what it means to be happy.”

Role assigned to: inrezairo

VOICE: A soothing, velvety tone of an older woman. V. is confident and wise, with an easygoing power that matches her signature, knowing smile.

Not much is known of V, but it can be gathered from Rose’s tales that she is a very prominent figure in the candlemaker’s past. V. disappeared one night without a trace other than a small, handwritten letter beckoning Rose to the town of Ashwick.

  • [Part of an exposition monologue, wise and smooth] "They call it the ‘Moonblight’ - a wicked curse that plagues our moon and befalls the Earth each night.

  • ["Rose" is said endearingly, "town of Ashwick" is said clearly, slower] Rose, this life is all you’ve ever known, but  I promise you this: times are changing, and I know the cure lies here: in the town of Ashwick.

  • [Hopefull, last part said with conviction.] “A better world starts with you, Rose. Seize the night.”

Role assigned to: Caelkriss

VOICE: Wolfe is quiet, his voice low and tired. There is the subtle, masculine timbre to his tone.
guide (don't let these stop you):  sephiroth (george newbern), young xehanort (ben diskin), itachi uchiha (chrispin freeman),

Once a frail young boy riddled with with scarlet fever, Wolfe found himself in a life or death situation when he was approached by a ghostly blue hound that offered him a deal he couldn’t refuse: “Will you die here, boy, or become one with me?”

What became of Wolfe after that night is unclear, but there has been talk amongst the townsfolk of peculiar activity going on within the Charnel Woods and sightings of “The Ferryman” told to keep the people of Ashwick inside after curfew.

  • [A warning, he's trying to scare them but he sounds tired, withdrawn] "I don’t know how you got so far in, but I’m not the one who can help you. There’s nothing in these woods for you but death and decay."

  • [Frenzied, gleeful, possessed by Ghasper] “Scared are we, Preacher? Of a mongrel in the backwoods? Oh, I suppose even Malignancy can’t cure an ageing body!”

  • [Softly] "Are you ... happy, Rose?"

VOICE: Low and gravelly. His ice-y tone could make a grown man’s knees shake.
guide (don't let these stop you): father gascoigne (bloodborne),

Little is known of this enigmatic priest except that his faith seems unwavering despite the bleak reality of what the afterlife has in store for the living. He is a man of few words and an outward appearance that seems to betray his occupation.

  • [Low, stern] “The Charnel Grounds are for the dead, girlie. If I catch you jumping the fence again I’ll put you in the grave myself.”

  • [Low, predatory] “A dog’s place is by a man’s feet, but you’ve been a stray too long. Your blood’s gone bad.”

  • [Stern] “You’re wasting your time here, girl. This town has no use for your strange magic.”

Role assigned to: Chumborino

VOICE: Husky and smooth, with a drawl that feels unsettling to listen to for too long. When enraged, he sounds unhinged - his usually sultry voice distorted into insanity.
guide (don't let these stop you): ardyn (ffxv), ludwig (bloodborne)

They say that a dog is a man’s best friend, but you won’t find this hound standing by anyone’s feet. Ghasper is Wolfe’s Malignant, and has shared his body for the better part of 15 years. Cunning and sly, Ghasper is a master of deceit - but don’t be fooled by his silver-tongue, for there is a madness that lurks just under the surface.

  • [Smooth, husky, father-like] “Little lamb, where has your shepherd gone? Such a tragic sight; the world shows no mercy for the meek, for the small - the sick and dying. Is this how your story should end?”

  • [Rising anger, ends in a wild shout.] “Ohhh, silly girl. Your rushlight voodoo won’t keep me down. You can’t hold a candle to a storm!”

  • [Melodic, curious] “Well, well. What do we have here?”

Mallory, The Serpent of Apathy

Role assigned to: Ace Corsaira

VOICE: Cold and vacant, with a tone that sounds as if she’s speaking to a lab rat or peculiar experiment. To a stranger, her ice-y voice might sound soothing, but one look into her eyes and they will find that there’s nothing staring back.
NOTE: Drag out voice as triple s's.

Hunter’s Malignant. She appears almost as withdrawn as her host and, unlike Wolfe and Ghasper, they seem to share a much more placid coexistence. Mallory looks to be detached from all feelings of sentiment yet, strangely, she rarely acts against Hunter’s best interest.

  • [A warning, apathetic]“Your boundless optimism is a hopeless sight. Thisss world is going to eat you alive.”

  • [Mocking, dismissive] “This heart you have, these feelingsss you preach … will be your undoing.”
