Hey there, thanks for checking out this casting call!
This casting call is for a Danganronpa 2 Voice Acting group, which I am titling 'Jabberwock Island'. You might remember that a year or so ago, I had a similar project for the V3 characters, that completely fell through. Well, I'm here to promise you that it's not going to happen again! We're taking it a lot slower, and I'll have some extra help, so the project can stay afloat for as long as possible!
The dubbing will consist of fan comics, responses to asks on a Tumblr account for the characters, and other small assortments of things, such as Incorrect Quotes, and the like. It all depends on what everyone is interested in voicing!
Where are Chiaki and Nagito?
I'm really sorry, both were cast beforehand! I know, it's not the best etiquette, but it had to be done!
~WARNING!~
The entire project will contain major spoilers for all of Danganronpa 2! The game has been out for a long time, so you likely already know everything, but for those who don't, be prepared!
This project will take a lot of dedication, as it will hopefully last a long time. If you wish to participate, please bear in mind that I may need you to voice your character for a significant amount of time.
Any ground rules?
1. Be prepared for a fairly long project.
2. Have Discord! It's how I will keep everyone together.
3. Be willing to participate! I want this to not just be a dubbing project, but a community for fans of the game as well.
4. You may audition for as many characters as you like, but you may only be cast as two characters, maximum (and even that is a rare circumstance).
5. Imitations of either the Japanese or English voice actors are allowed, but not required to get cast. I'm open to any interpretation of these characters, so go wild!

Hajime Hinata, a Reserve Course student who got mixed up in the tragedies of Hope's Peak, is the protagonist of Danganronpa 2. Initially quite cynical and straight-laced, Hajime is quite often the straight man, and the voice of reason in the situations he's put into. He relies quite heavily on logic and realism, but still attempts to indulge in his classmate's more eccentric hobbies. When around those he finds annoying, he tends to be snarky and can even snap out of frustration sometimes.
Hajime's voice is fairly mid-tone, and a tad on the "generic anime protagonist" side.
(Normal, introductory) "I'm not so special that I *have* to introduce myself, and formalities are always a little embarrassing... Well, this *is* what's expected... I guess that's how I should think about it. My name is Hajime Hinata. There's only one reason I came to Hope's Peak Academy... Because I admired Hope's Peak Academy."
(Serious, determined) "That's right...we need to end this... We need to finish this...once and for all. I know there's no way he can believe that one of us did this... But for those two's sake, we need to find the truth! And then, we need to end this nightmare once and for all!"
(Reflective, pensive) "... To be honest, I don't even know why I thought about talking to him. But I felt like the more I left him alone...the bigger my worries would start to grow."
Akane Owari, the Ultimate Gymnast, is quite a straightforward young woman. She's constantly looking for a fight, though unlike Nekomaru, it's more for the thrill of it all than the meaning behind it. It's very important for her to follow her gut, and it's the one thing Akane relies on more than anything else. Though, her obsession with food and eating can get in the way of her productivity.
Akane's voice is fairly low, gruff, and full of energy.
(Cheery, energetic) "Yo! The name's Akane Owari! Nice to meetcha!"
(Slightly confused, determined) "...Gah, grievin' like this isn't like me! I'm prolly actin' strange 'cause I'm so hungry! All right! All I gotta do is eat!"
"Well, of course I can only think of fighting when someone as strong as you is around! Well, I always think about food, too!"
Nekomaru Nidai is the Ultimate Team Manager, and he has the lungs to prove it. Constantly shouting with full force, Nekomaru is willing to give advice and lighten the spirits of the entire class, at any time. He's full of optimism, passion and willpower. Though, like Akane, he isn't the brightest. He more than makes up for it with his life experiences, however.
As his appearance and description may suggest, Nekomaru has an incredibly loud, powerful voice, that's quite deep and gruff.
(Demanding, full of energy) "I am the Ultimate Team Manager, NEKOMARU NIDAI!!!"
(Determined, angered) "Damn fiend...I won't give up until the very end! I won't die in vain... I'll give my entire existence, my entire power, my entire body and soul, and fight to the very end!"
(Supportive) "From this point on, I will be the official manager for all of you! If we win this "match" by working together to leave this island... Then I'll give it my all to support each and every one of you!"
Mahiru Koizumi, the Ultimate Photographer, is incredibly pragmatic and orderly. She's sensible, calm, grounded, and unafraid to speak her mind in any situation. It's immediately apparent that she treats men far differently to women, showing high expectations of them, and acting quite abrasively. With girls, she is far more friendly, and casual. Mahiru is great at taking care of people, and will always speak the truth.
Her voice is in a mid-low range, leaning more towards the middle.
"Let's see... I'm Mahiru Koizumi. I'll be counting on you from now on."
(Quiet, hinted worry) "N-No. It's fine. It's important that everyone gets along anyway! Just tell them I'm not feeling well... Plus...it doesn't have to be today. There's...always tomorrow..."
(Reflective) "I never erase a photo once I take it. That's my policy. No matter what kind of photo it is, the moment captured in it only exists at that time."
Kazuichi Soda is the Ultimate Mechanic, who wears his emotions on his sleeve, whether he wants to or not. Despite attempting to act calm and collected, he's often the first to completely lose it in stressful situations. People often note that his appearance does not at all match his compulsive, cowardly personality. He's quick to blurt out his thoughts, without filtering himself, or thinking things through. This can lead to a lot of trouble, especially when it involves his feelings towards Sonia Nevermind.
Kazuichi's voice is in a mid range, with a laid-back tone.
(Calm, introductory) "Name's Kazuichi Soda. I'm the Ultimate Mechanic. Nice to meet ya."
(Starts serious, turns into a joking statement) "Horizons...are beautiful things...that you keep chasing after, right...probably...? Soooooo...what exactly is a "horizon" anyway?"
(Energetic) "I-I don't really get it, but...when Miss Sonia talks like that, my blood starts to boil... ALL RIGHT! I'm getting pumped up! Let's charge our way to that new island!"
Sonia Nevermind is the Ultimate Princess, from the country of Novoselic. Despite seeming like an innocent, sweet girl, she can actually be quite eccentric and excitable. Her country has its fair share of strange traditions, and they definitely had an impact on her interests. She is constantly fascinated by Japanese culture, and attempts to fit in whenever she can. Despite all of this, she is incredibly caring towards her classmates.
Her voice is quite mid-high, with a formal tone. A European accent is in no way required, but it would definitely fit her character!
"My name is Sonia Nevermind. I am foreign exchange student from a small European kingdom called Novoselic. I may cause trouble here and there, but I hope we can get along well."
(Completely drained) "Yeah...I can't do this anymore... Investigating, the Class Trial...seriously, I'm done..."
(Full of excitement) "Please hold on! It is a mistake to refer to these people as mere murderers! Coming in contact with a value system that differs from your own is a very important matter. Serial killers...their value system is very different than the norm... What a marvellous existence! Haaaaah! I'm totes intrigued!"
Gundham Tanaka is the Ultimate Breeder, and self-proclaimed "Supreme Overlord of Ice". He is what's known in Japan as a "chuunibyou" - someone who displays delusional behaviour. He believes himself to be an evil being from the underworld, who tames various beasts, and cannot be trusted by mortals. This makes him quite the bold, proud individual. Though, when it comes to animals, he shows an incredible amount of care.
Gundham has probably the deepest voice of the entire cast, with lots of power.
(Sinister, bold) "Kehehe, would you like to know my name? Others may see your courage as recklessness... However...I welcome it. In honour of your courage, I shall reveal to you my name. May you never forget is as long as you live! You may call me...Gundham Tanaka! Remember it well, for it is the name that will one day rule this world!"
(Solemn) "Such creatures are born to be eaten by humans. Even if I had the All-Seeing Eye, I couldn't change that fate... Thus, I try not to involve myself with livestock. It would bring a calamity onto my mind, after all..."
(Calm, oddly sincere) "With this...the contract is complete. I will not allow you to die without my permission."
Peko Pekoyama is the reserved Ultimate Swordswoman. She is fairly quiet and reserved, often not choosing to interject in her classmates' shenanigans. She's incredibly calm, poker-faced and logical, rarely showing her true emotions. Around Fuyuhiko, and later Hajime, true parts of her personality and personal life begin to slip through the cracks, such as her love of animals. She once forgot how to smile, and is trying to learn how to express herself, and make her friends happy.
Peko has the lowest female voice, with quite a serious, quiet tone.
"My name is Peko Pekoyama. It is nice to meet you, too."
(Determined, sinister) "Just so you know, I will never feel despair. As long as I am a tool...I am fully prepared to die."
(Solemn) "However...because of the path I've chosen, there are things I've lost as well. Warm, irreplaceable things... ...Fluffiness."
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, the Ultimate Yakuza, is incredibly brash and dismissive towards his classmates upon meeting them. He quickly distances himself, and is quick to insult them, and push them away. Though, the longer he spends time with them, the more he shows how terrible he is at expressing his emotions towards them. Over the course of the game, he tries to connect with them, and make up for his past mistakes, though this is easier said than done.
Fuyuhiko's voice is fairly mid-high, leaning towards the middle. He has a hint of roughness to his voice.
"Name's Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu... Just so we're clear, I don't plan to act friendly and shit with you guys."
(Angered) "Don't talk to me like we're friends or something! I live in a completely different world than you bastards... Kill or be killed... That's the kind of world I live in. Heh, the current rules make more sense to me than that "Play nice and get along" crap."
(Strained) "I-I didn't think...I'd be forgiven with such...a half-assed apology... But...if I don't do this...m-my feelings...won't feel resolved...! Tch...I feel so ashamed... I-In the end...I made trouble for everyone again..."
Hiyoko Saionji, the Ultimate Traditional Dancer, may seem childlike and innocent, but this is entirely a facade. She is direct and downright cruel to most people, especially Mikan Tsumiki. It's common for her to mock those around her, with her voice dripping with malice. The only exception to this is Mahiru Koizumi, who she treats like a sister. They have an incredibly close relationship.
Hiyoko's voice has a high range, with a cutesy, childlike tone to it.
(Mocking, cruel) "Kyahaha! Even though you look all flashy, you're actually a big coward! Are you gonna be okaaaay? People like you are usually the first victim, you know?"
(Dismissive) "It's a good thing your ears are awesome because your face, style, figure, and personality totally suck."
(Sinister) "Huuuh? Is it alright to defend a killer? Are you trying to justify murder? Then you gotta hate him more than ever. You gotta hate him from the bottom of your heart. He's a stupid piece of trash, bastard who committed the lowest crime possible. He deserved to get killed. In fact, I'm rather relieved he was executed. If I could have, I would have totally spat on him too."
Teruteru Hanamura is the lewd Ultimate Cook. He spends most of his time attempting to flirt with any female he can, though this very rarely happens with men as well. He will frequently point out even the slightest innuendo, and will attempt to take advantage of the more gullible characters.
Teruteru's voice is fairly mid-high for a male.
"My name is Teruteru Hanamura. On the streets, I'm known as the Ultimate Cook... But could you guys call me the Ultimate Chef instead? It has more of a...big-city flavor to it, ya know? Mmhmhm, I hope we get along well."
"Hmm, this tropical island atmosphere isn't so bad... But there's not much to look at, you know? The view of a city filled with blinking neon lights at night is obviously sexier and more my type!"
(Shocked realisation) "I think I'm the one...who went crazy."
Ibuki Mioda is the Ultimate Musician, and she is full of joy and energy. She loves to talk, even if she's often talking in bizarre gibberish. She's quite quirky, always looking for excitement in her life. Even when she is panicked, she tends to put all of her energy into it, screaming with full force, and moving around a lot.
Ibuki's voice is fairly mid tone, but with lots, and lots of energy.
(Cheery Introduction) ""I," "Buki," "Mio," "Da!" Put it together and what do you get? Ibuki Mioda!"
(Desperately trying to lift the mood) "H-Hey...isn't this kinda bad? The mood's totally set to like, "OH NOES!" right now, y'know? I got it! Ibuki's gonna help get the party started by siiiiiiinging! ...Man, even I'm not sure I should say that right now."
(Full energy and excitement) "Yahoooooooooooooooo! I'll invite everyone to feel this wonderful feeling! It's like the smug feeling you got when you explain something with an elaborate metaphor no one understands!"
The Ultimate Impostor is quite the mystery. We know next to nothing about their true identity and personality, only seeing their face once, in the Danganronpa 3 anime. In Danganronpa 2, they are disguised as Byakuya Togami, the Ultimate Affluent Progeny. Like in DR1, he is incredibly narcissistic, and likes to lord his title over the others. He isn't one for conversation, preferring to stick to himself. However, this "interpretation" of Byakuya has definitely grown since DR1, showing more care towards his classmates. He even offers to lead them, and goes to extreme lengths to protect all of them from harm.
Byakuya's voice is fairly mid-low, and while I personally prefer a lower interpretation, his official voice actors aren't quite the same.
(Indifferent) "My name is Byakuya Togami..."
(Proud, narcissistic) "Who is more fit to lead other than me? I am the Ultimate Affluent Progeny of the Togami household, destined to stand above all others."
(Solemn, mysterious) "Hmm, this tropical island atmosphere isn't so bad..."You always find the same things waiting for you wherever you go. You'll never know what a relief that truly is... For someone like you who has lived a fortunate life... You'll never understand."
Mikan Tsumiki is the meek, overly nervous Ultimate Nurse. She is ridiculously anxious, constantly stuttering and apologising for her every action. She expects to be hated by her classmates, and, due to how she was treated in her childhood, constantly feels like a burden, and like she is in the way of everyone around her. Due to her personality, she is an instant target for Hiyoko, constantly being bullied and downright harassed by the smaller girl. This does not help Mikan's paranoia and self esteem struggles.
Her voice is by far the highest of the cast, being incredibly meek and weak.
(Nervous) "M-My name is Mikan Tsumiki. Um... From the bottom of my heart, I hope we can get along."
"Hehe...I'm so, so, soooo happy...I was able to play with a friend... Hehehehehehehe... Thank you very much, Chiaki."
(Solemn) "Obviously, I don't want to do that stuff at all. But...if it makes everyone not hate me and smile at me, then it's much better..."
In order to keep this project running, I'd like to have one more person helping me here and there. This would include finding and getting permissions for comics to dub, helping writing scripted responses to asks, and just generally moderating the Discord server and Tumblr blog.
I don't really have any specifications for what you need to do to "audition" for this role, so if you're willing to help out, let me know!
