Star Wars: Kindred Spirits | Motion Comic

Star Wars: Kindred Spirits | Motion Comic

Project Overview

The Comic Experience is proud to announce that we will be continuing our Star Wars productions with a motion comic adaptation of the short story Kindred Spirits! TCE has been producing critically acclaimed comic series similar to this one for four years, especially Star Wars content.  We are thrilled to include this story in our line up! Before we delve too far into what this project is about, we have supplied links to some of our previously completed works to give you a feel for what you will be voicing.

Previous Productions:

Vader #3
Star Wars: Main Series #1
Leia #1
Kanan: The Last Padawan #1
Darth Maul #1
Avengers: Infinity War Prelude #1

How it Works:
Suffice to say, we have mastered bringing to life comics over our four year run on YouTube. We pride ourselves on our company's quality in both visuals, sound effects, music, and the most important part: the voice actors. All productions start with a highly detailed and descriptive casting call. Our typical policy is we don't cast actors until the last day of the call so everyone has plenty of time to audition. Our CC's typically last 2-3 weeks. At the end of the CC process, the Series Director will make the casting decisions based on a variety of factors such as audio quality, performance, vocal range, talent, etc. Once the casting decisions have been made, we send a link for a private Discord server where you will find your scripts, submit your lines, and meet and mingle with your fellow castmates. Deadlines will be posted for line submissions to allow voice actors time to first takes and if requested, retakes. From there it is up to the Director to bring the video to life. Production time will take at least several weeks after lines are submitted, so please try to have your audio in as quickly as possible so production can begin.

The Synopsis:
Serving as a prologue to the 2015 novel Dark Disciple, this short tells the story of Asajj Ventress teaming up with the pirate captain Lassa Rhayme to recover treasure stolen by Hondo Ohnaka and his rival pirate gang.

Series Director: Robert A.

Ground rules:

- Please be able to get your lines in by the deadline posted by the director. Production time will be airtight!

- Have professional grade equipment or at the bare minimum make sure your audio is top notch. No background noise!

- Have a Discord or be able to create one. This allows for us to communicate and upload documents much easier than Skype or any other platform.

- Lastly, enjoy yourselves!

We look forward to hearing your performances!

PLEASE NOTE: All voice roles for this video are paid. Due to limitations in Casting Call Club's interface, we cannot list fractions of a dollar as payment, but any role that says it pays $0 will in fact be paying 75 cents.

Captain Lassa Rhayme

Democratically elected Captain of the Blood Bone Order, Lassa Rhayme is a Pantoran pirate active during the Clone Wars. Rhayme bows to no clan, swearing allegiance to her crew over any familial ties. Rhayme encounters an unconscious Asajj Ventress drifting through space and rescues her - but rescue comes at a cost: one more job. Vocal performance should convey a strong, self-assured woman with a South African or Australian accent.

  • “We’ve been planning this for weeks. You can imagine my surprise when, upon the Opportunity’s arrival at the proper coordinates, the only ships we saw were fighters floating dead in space.”

  • “Look - I’ve got everything to lose and nothing to gain by lying. I’m giving you a Jedi. The ransom the Order will pay for her safe return will be staggering.”

  • “Hondo was rather charming, actually. Of course I wasn’t about to kill him, but he didn’t know that. It’ll be fun to hear what sort of rumors he’ll spread.”

Born a slave, Ventress didn't feel compassion in her life until she was rescued and recruited by the Jedi Order. When her Jedi master was brutally murdered before her eyes by Weequay pirates, Ventress lost all control over her emotions, and consequently left the Jedi, never to look back. Her next relationship was with the equally brutal Count Dooku, who recruited the talented young woman as his Sith apprentice and General of the Separatist army during the Clone Wars. When Dooku turned on her and tried to kill her, he left Ventress distrustful of all around her. Now a bounty hunter, Ventress scrapes by on what she earns from capture and guard jobs. Vocal performance should be based on the performance of Nika Futterman in Star Wars: The Clone Wars: https://youtu.be/j7b25SGv9dM?t=89

  • “Pirates! Assume a defensive position, protect the Steady-On at all costs!”

  • “I might be willing to help you - provided I get to keep a certain piece of cargo.”

  • (Scornfully) “You sound like a Jedi.”

Role assigned to: The_Last_Yosh

After he betrayed Hondo and joined forces with Darth Maul, Jiro was lucky to be allowed to rejoin the Ohnaka Gang. Now, as Hondo undertakes a mission off-planet, he leaves Jiro with a test: hold down the fort in the captain's absence. Vocal performance should be based on the performance of Matt Lanter in Star Wars: The Clone Wars: https://youtu.be/Yr8b_5Pm3DQ?t=29

  • “You must be someone special, to catch a Jedi. How’d you manage it?”

  • "I could put in a few good words for you if you were to tell me where to find this fleet. So I could, ah, prep the ships and get them all ready-like.”

  • [Stammering] "She brought us- I mean you, boss- a Jedi she’d captured. Said we could hold her for ransom and-”

Role assigned to: Wyatt Henry

Leader of the aptly-named Ohnaka Gang, Hondo is a pirate captain active during the Clone Wars. With a long history of dealing with Jedi and Sith alike, there is no threat in the galaxy that can keep Hondo from his plunder. Vocal performance should be based on the performance of Jim Cummings in Star Wars: The Clone Wars: https://youtu.be/gcwW_1k4YdE?t=122

  • “Jedi? In my hall? Again?”

  • “Da-da-da-da! I leave you alone for half a day - half a day! - and look what you have done. No more ransoming Jedi! That never ends well. Bad for business.”

  • “This is a fight you cannot win, my dear. You may have the laser sword, but you don’t have the Force.”

Another member of Lassa Rhayme's crew, Kerming is tasked with tracking down the Steady-On after it has been taken by the Ohnaka Gang. Should sound deferential with a hint of snark, and speak with a South African or Australian accent.

  • “They took the ship to Florrum, captain. Looks like we’re dealing with the Ohnaka Gang. I haven’t been spotted, at least not yet. It looks like there’s only a skeleton crew on base at the moment, I haven’t seen Hondo anywhere. Seems like some underling’s giving the orders for the time being.”

  • Lassa Rhayme: “Thank you, Dabbit. Stay low for now.”

Dabbit Kerming: “Aye, captain… like there’s much else to do.”
