Soul Star
Project Overview
Soul Star Search is the story of a near extinct race of magical beings trying to rid the world of darkness. In order for them to succeed, the remaining Warriors must locate the Soul Stars, gems that will unlock the ability to become one of these magical beings and pass them on to the ones they have chosen.

It has truly been wonderful to see people audition for this project. I thank every single one of you. As you may have noticed, we have reached the submission deadline, but that doesn't necessarily mean casting has finalized. It just means we won't be able to receive auditions here anymore as CCC has closed it. The site wouldn't allow me to prolong the deadline past a month, so this is where we stand. If, however, you're still interested in auditioning, you may follow the instructions detailed in this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/14oRuClxBdks3yUUezFL2EHb_7V0Up6_6l6YK01Ynplo/edit?usp=sharing Again, thank you to everyone who auditioned! Casting will be finalized in the coming weeks!
Kaumudi is a young woman who has recently come into a group of magical Warriors called the Servants of Light, and is in possession of a Star with a mysterious past behind it. She is polite but inexperienced, perceptive but a bit impulsive, can be cheerful but is also insecure and pensive of what fate awaits her and the group she forms a part of. She cares for those around her very much and has them always in her thoughts. She may take too much responsibility in who she is and what she does. Despite this, I wouldn't call her intense at all. There's a softness to her. More like a calmness, as she's not inherently shy or reserved. She may not be a perfect or even an experienced Warrior, but she does give it her all.
Her voice ideally would be a North American accent, though I'm not adverse to variations in accent. Voice is soft, and emotion (as with most roles) must be ever present.
(talking to herself, lost in thought, trying to understand) This is all happening so fast. I was living a pretty normal life just a week ago. Now I have to deal with… This?
(apologetic, kind of happy/sad) Please, take care of him for me… I’m sorry…
(Randomized battle sounds: Grunting, attacking, getting hurt)
Hacim is the newest member of the Servants of Light and, as such, is the least experienced of the group. He's very shy at first, but quite ecstatic the more time he spends around this new group of friends. He is very fond of Kaumudi, as she's the one closest to his age and welcomed him into the group. Hard-headed and bold, he is also be willing to stand down in the face of danger to those around him, his short temper often an obstacle in his decision-making. He is willing to take risks despite his lack of experience and takes his new responsibility quite seriously, possibly more so than Kaumudi. He's usually content and bright, but serious when he needs to be.
His voice is North American, the voice of a young man who will eventually get deeper as time goes by. We need him to be able to control happiness, anger and tragedy, as well as subtle sadness.
(sort of shy, very polite, telling Cow-Moo-Dee what she can call him) It’s nice to meet you too, Kaumudi. Oh and ‘Hacim’ is fine.
(Explaining a story and how it happened. Heym-Doll) Heimdall protected me and shoved me aside. He told me to run away and hide, but I was frozen. All I could do was hide in a nearby bush, watching how these two fought, attacking each other with Fire and Water. Blinding Lights and Striking Darkness.
(Randomized battle sounds: Grunting, attacking, getting hurt)
The eldest and most experienced member of the Servants of Light, Ahura can be seen as a leader of sorts, though he's more a mentor than a leader. He is wise, but a bit historically stubborn. Though he certainly knows how to handle a situation, he is adverse to variations in his plans. If he asks you to listen, he expects you to listen. Despite that, he is very kind, reasonable and has a sensitive nature. He speaks his mind and does what he does for the best interests of those around him as well as himself.
He is strong but stubborn, reasonable but will insist with his own ways given the way he sees things.
His voice, despite listed as Senior, mustn't be misconstrued as old. He may be mature, but he is still strong. I imagine his voice would be similar to Sir Christopher Lee's or Corey Burton doing Christopher Lee, just a tad less deep. Emotions include patience, sturdiness and urgency.
(Like trying to correct a child, without looking down on him, the latter almost as a speech. Hah-Yah-Seem) Haiacim… I am not your Master. Here, we are all but masters of ourselves. We are equals amongst each other, even if you are less experienced than another. I am Master of No One. We are all Servants of Light.
(Stern, almost concerned. Lost in thought, trying to understand how something that shouldn’t be, is. Hah-Seem) Hacim was being truthful. He couldn’t summon his Weapon when I asked him to. He he had no idea how, and I know he was trying to. He struggled the same way a new Soul Warrior would. But it’s all too perfect, the location, the timing. They couldn’t have been strangers.
(Calm, almost smiling, reflecting on times past, as if talking about an old friend) You know, you’re much like your grandmother before you. She, too, would always look forward to her training, getting up early, working hard all day.
Iakchos is the most courageous of the Servants of Light, rushing into battle even when the battle may not call him. As a result, he can be too preemptive, to the point that it can work against him, putting him in the line of danger. Lighthearted, his bravery can get the better of him, always wanting to prove his lack of fear, making him cocky. Nevertheless, he is very friendly and can be considered the clown of the group, though he's not necessarily all too jovial. He's there to listen when you need it. Friendly yet cocky, lighthearted but reckless, valiant yet careless at times, despite being a skilled Warrior.
Whereas Kaumudi is around 20, Iakchos would be around 27. More seasoned than Kaumudi and Hacim, but younger than Iegad and Rhotha. His voice needs to be cheery, unconcerned, confident, even when speaking a bit more softly.
(Confident, almost comforting with a hint of inspiration) Then you have nothing to be afraid of! Fear is just an obstacle that gets in the way of our goals, that’s why I’m not afraid of anything!
(At first, reminiscent, leading into a hint of glee, finishing off with a statement that would make you shrug) Yeah… My dad would tell me the story every so often and it was super interesting to think about. But hey, that’s myths for you.
(Upset, angry that people are sitting around doing nothing.) Well, guess what? If we don’t do something about them now, we won’t need to worry about that, because there won’t be any Soul Warriors left.
Rhotha is perhaps the most self-contained member of the Servants of Light. She knows how to control herself in the face of temptation or desire above impulses. She is motherly to those around her, always caring and willing to give advice, though often in a serious mood. When upset she can be very rough, but she always keeps a cool head. She's a strong and confident Warrior, definitely a force to be reckoned with. Though seemingly having everything figured out, her motherly instincts can sometimes lead her actions, surpassing her own restraint.
Her voice can be a mixture of posh-English and North American accents. She is soft spoken but confident. Strong but can be vulnerable. I'd say she's about early to mid-thirties.
(Confused, but also determined, wanting to find an answer) Why would he train someone in secret instead of allowing him to be a part of us? He knew our numbers were dwindling.
(Calmed down from tears, hopeful, yet desperate, she gets cut off) How can you be so sure? We thought we were the last ones, and then Hacim-
(Trying to reason with someone, presenting her case in a calmed manner. Ah-Hoo-Rah. Eee-Eh-God) Ahura, please understand. Iegad has a point. At this rate, the Masters might not even bother with us, they already have the means to carry it out. If we don’t do something, right now, by the time it starts, it’ll be too late.
Iegad's sense of right is both his strength and his weakness. He is a very skilled member of the Servants of Light and would go great lengths to protect those around him, though he's perhaps the one who reflects it the least. His protective instinct only kicks in when he feels those he cares about are truly endangered, otherwise he is there to push his comrades forward, often making it seem like he has a disregard for them. Though he cares deeply and always wants to do the right thing, his sense of justice can get twisted based on his own perspective, and can lead to irrational actions.
I imagine his voice to sound respectful and confident, usually angrier than most, but not mean. Stern would be a good way to describe him. Older than Iakchos, but certainly younger sounding than Ahura.
(Almost angry, in disbelief and trying to understand. Heym-Doll) It doesn’t make sense. Heimdall never told us about another Warrior.
(Trying not to breakdown in tears, staying strong) He… Has expired at the hands of the Masters.
(Borderline hysterical, trying to make someone see his point of view. Th-Air-Uh.) All we’ve done is question how one of our own is a Warrior! If our own friend betrayed our trust by having an heir! What does it matter?! We have one more person on our side! I can’t, I won’t sit idly by as they decide to bring us down! … If Thera is doomed, we might as well put up a fight.
Tenebris is the self-appointed leader of the Masters of Darkness. He is short tempered and intimidating. Despite his rough personality, he's usually quite soft spoken, unless provoked. That's when his wrath is unleashed. His motivation is to unlock the ultimate darkness on the planet. He views his group more as pawns that assist him than as comrades. He is commanding... Angry... Dangerous. He has a touch of respect for those that oppose him, with a hint of sarcasm mixed in.
His voice could be a bit whispery, a lick away from being considered deep, the definition of "dark". Perhaps even English, like a sort of seductive, not as intense Colin Firth, but must be able to really let out powerful, commanding yells.
(As if looking head to toes, almost brushing it off his shoulders, like he doesn’t really care. Doo-Iss-Terr-Niss) So… You’re the one Duisternis told us about. Hmph. How did we ever overlook another one of our own?
(A bit peeved, but still reserved. A bit taunting at the end. Soh-Teht-Sehg) I have no time to play with two little apprentices who are as good as expired. Sotetseg, deal with our fellow Survivors while we pay our dear old friend, Ahura, a visit.
(Furious, at his wit’s end) What do you mean, ‘they escaped’?! I ordered you to dispose of them, you fool! Chase them down and finish them off, you imbecile!
Oscura is, ironically, the runner-up for leader for the Masters of Darkness. The irony lies in the fact that she is incredibly lazy, unwilling to do most tasks but doing them anyway. Despite this, she is also a force to be reckoned with. She's dismissive of most things people do or say around her, but she can be quite sarcastic, making her hard to get along with or even respect. Tenebris knows to respect her, however, due to just how deceptively powerful she is.
She could have a North American accent, most notably one that is bit sluggish but energetic enough to convey that she really doesn't want to do the things she's assigned to do, sort of like a stereotypical teenager, young sounding but not too young. She must also be able to be commanding whenever she's about to engage in battle, close to intimidating.
(Arm folded, annoyed and lazy. Ten-Eh-Bress) Ugh… Why am I even here, Tenebris? Neither of these two look like decrepit, old men.
(Really trying to flee responsibility. Kwa-Mood.) Do we have to? Ugh, why can’t you have Kuamüd deal with him? He’s close to expiring on his own anyway...
(About to throw herself on the floor due to how bored she is about the idea) Ughhhh… Fine. Let’s go do whatever you wanna do, then...
Sotetseg is the main villain of this story in particular. He is one of the Masters of Darkness, perhaps one of the most jovial of the group. He finds everyone and everything around him to be attractive, even complimenting and, to a degree, even flirting with our heroes. He seeks to stop the youngest Servants from going into hiding, stalking them until the moment is right to attack. He is hardly ever mean, always complementing those around him, though in a very seductive and, often times, inappropriate way. He doesn't really hold back his desires or his thought process.
While not necessarily effeminate, I don't see Sotetseg as creepy either. He is very well kempt and any other person would view him as charming, if they didn't know the motivations behind his actions and words. He is handsome and his voice, to an extent, should reflect that he knows that he is, without sounding cocky. Very confident and smooth, very suave. A Hispanic accent is favored, but not required.
(Confident, almost friendly) Leave it to me, boss. I’ll make sure to give my two new best friends the proper treatment. (giggle)
(A bit serious and shocked at first, he turns it into a smirk at the end, with a flirtatious twist) For a couple of newbies, you sure know how to handle yourselves. How’s about you let me handle you instead?
(weak, as if about to faint, with a hint of happiness) Heh… Maybe now… We can all fly together...
The Shopkeep of the Sunshine Shack. Try saying that five times fast. She serves no major role in the overall plot of the story, but she is a very important character as she’ll aid you by selling you anything you’ll need. She’s a bit ditzy, and very excitable. She doesn’t have many lines and most of the ones she does have are ones you might recognize as a reference to another character.
Euraika is very upbeat and cheery. She’s not all too bright, though it rarely reflects due to how little she interacts with our heroes. Her accent should be American and should be similar in energy and tone to these two references:
As mentioned, most of the lines delivered by Euraika are references to the Merchant from Resident Evil 4. In case you’re not familiar, here’s Reference 3, so that they can be said in an almost identical way.
(greeting in a very excited manner) Hi there, Stranger! Welcome to the Sunshine Shack! I’m Euraika! (pronounced Your-Eye-Kah, almost like “Eureka”)
(when asked if she’s seen a certain someone pass by, lost in thought; not as excited) Hmm… I can’t say that I have, Stranger. Sorry. Is there something I can interest you in? Like this butterfly? (she becomes a bit more cheery when offering the butterfly)
(Random Quotes from Reference 3, you can pick.)
