Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Celebration: Comic Dub
Project Overview
After 30 years of going fast, it’s time for fans to celebrate the speediest hedgehog of all time! It’s an unbelievable birthday celebration for Sonic the Hedgehog with his first Classic Sonic special!
In “Seasons of Chaos” by longtime Sonic scribe Ian Flynn and artists Aaron Hammerstrom & Reggie Graham, Sonic goes on an adventure from pleasant spring valleys to wintry wonderlands in search of the Chaos Emeralds. But Sonic’s not alone, with a little help from his friends Miles “Tails” Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Mighty the Armadillo, and Ray the Flying Squirrel, they’ll race, fight, and fly their way to victory against the baddest of baddies!
Audition Guidelines:
- You need to have a good quality microphone with minimal background noise. I should be able to add a bit of post processing to the audio to make it sound better, too.
- You can use your reel to enter, but the requested lines for what you'd want to try out are preferred.
- Please provide three takes of each line in AAA BBB CCC format
- .wav format is optimal for this since .mp3/.ogg compression will be handled on my end.
- Must be okay with Live Voice sessions, if you're too shy and such, we can try to work around it, though it is preferred that you can do Recording sessions.
- Impressions are accepted too but if you could try your own take on said character that would be amazing!
- Discord will also be required for proper communication in regards to the project!

Small Update!
Hey Y'all, before I get into the meat and potatoes of this update I just wanted to Thank you all again for auditioning, once again you all sound great and are certainly going to make the job of casting hard as bricks! Anywho, I'm making this update just to let you all know I'm going to not only start editing the comic book pages and stuff but I'm also slightly considering shortening the deadline a slight bit, let me know what you all think! There's still a bit of time and if you know anybody who'd be interested be sure to direct them here! Hope you all have a fantastic week and stay safe! - Shibou -
Thank you all so much!
Hey y'all. I just want to take this time to thank everyone who has auditioned thus far, I'm super amazed by all of the talent that has come through to take part in this little comic dub of mine and I know for sure that the final decision will be SUPER hard. You all are so very talented and I just wanted you all to know that from me, I'm very thankful for every submission, keep on being brilliant you all, and Good Luck!
A gentle and sweet-natured soul, Tails was initially timid and lacked courage. After meeting Sonic, however, Tails has become more confident, eventually growing into a more outgoing, brave, independent individual and a hero in his own right. Since encountering Sonic, Tails has looked up to him and stood by his side, helping him whenever he can during their adventures.
Voice Direction: When doing Tails' voice it's good to keep in mind that not only is he a young fox cub, but he's also...well...a boy, so aim for a higher tone with a slight bit of rasp, so a voice tone similar in fashion to Colleen O'Shaugnessy, Amy Palant or Kate Higgins, but with your own flair to it as well. Original Interpretations are also welcome!
Dr. Eggman must've sent them! If he's after the Chaos Emeralds then he's up to something! We have to stop him!
(Excited) Sonic! I've got the Emerald
If Heavy King is controlling them remotely, Maybe we can stop his Signal from here?
A loner by nature, Knuckles is independent, headstrong and serious, yet gullible and short-tempered to a fault. He is entirely devoted to his duty, spending most of his time on Angel Island protecting the Master Emerald, and rarely cares for anything that is of no importance. When his friends and others are in need of his help, however, Knuckles can always be relied on being willing to leave his post and prove himself a faithful and good-hearted hero. He is also one of Sonic's oldest friends and rivals.
Voice Direction: For Knuckles, try going for a voice that's deep in tone but still has some energy behind it, think the Bill Wise's interpretation of his voice in a way, but with influences from Scott Dreier and Michael McGaharn.

{Shouting) Dibs on the Grappler!
{Struggling) RRRRGH! C'mon, Bark! I know you can fight!
That's more like it!
Amy is a cheerful, though slightly erratic girl, with a positive attitude and boundless energy. However, she has a scary temper and her infatuation with Sonic makes her shortsighted and a bit obsessive about him, having followed him everywhere since meeting him. Nevertheless, she has a pure heart and will not let anything stop her.
Voice Direction: For Amy, go for a voice that's high in tone and cheery yet can convey an array of emotions like compassion, shyness, etc. So for example, Lisa Ortiz's Amy which is honestly one of, if not, the best voice Amy has had!
(Suprirsed) Oh, Wow! A Chaos Emerald!
(Excited) EEEEEE! Another exciting Adventure with Sonic! And this time I'm around at the very start! I get to see all the action! I get to-
(dejected) oh...
I'm Fine! My name's Amy Rose. It's a pleasure to meet you!
Mighty is described as a gentle pacifist who detests violence and roughness. However, he is willing to use his strength and fighting abilities when there is trouble afoot and when there is no other option.[2] He loves to travel, and his aim in life is to journey to all the places in the world.[2] Some of the things Mighty enjoys includes forest bathing, peace and nature.
Voice Direction: For Mighty's voice, since he's a character who doesn't have a dedicated voice in the Sonic Series I would be fine with any interpretation, though for a bit of direction from yours truly, I'd imagine his voice having the vocal tone of Knuckles, so a somewhat deep voice but not too deep, while being backed by the same energy of Sonic's voice.
Nicely Done! Ready for another one?
Likewise. I'm Mighty. This here is my best buddy, Ray!
We can't let Eggman have those Emeralds--or leave you hanging. Whattaya say, bud? Up for another Adventure?
Although not much is known about Ray's personality, what can be inferred from Ray's behavior is that he acts as the semi comic-relief character in his trio. He is also shown to be slightly more fearful than Sonic and Mighty.
Voice Direction: As previously stated, similarly to Mighty, Ray doesn't have his own in series voice to reference, so for voice direction. go for a higher tone but not as high as Tails, as well as to have energy behind your voice!
(Cheery) Let it Fly!
(Eager) Yeah! Let's Go!
Don't question it big guy! Just be thankful!
Fang is a mischievous treasure hunter who tries hard to be sneaky and cunning, although his overconfidence and overall naiveté proves to be his biggest flaw. In the English Sonic Triple Trouble manual, he is said to desire the Chaos Emeralds not because he knows of their true power, but because he believes they will fetch a hefty price on the market.Fang appears to be a coward, as he often runs away when his plans go wrong or when he's frightened.
While Fang had no dialogue, he showed himself to be a comedic and egotistical bad-guy who sows his own defeat in Sonic Triple Trouble. This is shown by his trap backfiring and lighting himself on fire in his first encounter and getting shot by his own heat-seeking missile while gloating in his fourth battle against Sonic. Fang was fairly clumsy, often tripping when running away after a defeat. His poster in Sonic Generations suggests that he may be a loose criminal wanted for theft and extortion.
Voice Direction: As previously stated before with Mighty and Ray, Fang is a character that doesn't have an actual dedicated vocal reference in the series, so with his voice I'm pretty much open to any interpretation, though I'd imagine him having a mid-high tone and an accent similar to either a brooklyn or an Australian one.
Hey there, Fleet-Feet. Always a pleasure to Snipe you!
Dr. Eggman promised a hefty reward if we bring him all the Chaos Emeralds. No Problem for a treasure hunter like me, of course!
Looks like we're workin' together for now, Fleet-Feet!
Most of Bean's personality is hard to define, though he is characterized with rapid and erratic movements, suggesting that he is either hyperactive or highly eccentric. Supposedly, he is also considered dangerous.
Voice Direction: As stated for the 3 previous characters, there isn't a dedicated series reference to go by so as I've stated 3 times before, I'm open to any interpretation of the characters voice, however, if his personality is anything to go off of then his voice should have a ton of personality and energy behind it, along with being able to switch gears on a whim, from being hyperactive to dejected and just straight up threatening. As for vocal tone, Mid-high range!
(Chipper Tone) But this is our big reunion after so long! Didn't'cha Miss me?
(dejected).....oh.... (Threatening)...WELL, I'M NOT GONNA MISS YOU EITHER!
(Pondering) That **would** be counter-intuitive to the job....
While the doctor's plans initially consisted of building incredible armies by turning Animals into robots and using them to dominate the land, Dr. Eggman's schemes have since branched into much more global threats as he built war machines, used nuclear devices to threaten entire nations, and even relied on mythological and ancient deities bent on destruction to achieve his goals. Eventually, the mad scientist has gone as far as to target the entire universe and cooked up schemes to control time and space itself. While all these plans end in failure thanks to the continued efforts of Sonic and his friends, the mad doctor is somehow always able to slip away from certain death or imprisonment and escape at the last moment, making him a constant threat to the universe and a thorn in Sonic's side.
Voice Direction: With Dr. Eggman being voiced by many people throughout the past couple of decades, the best interpretation(s) to reference for this version of Dr. Eggman would be, Edwin Neal's interpretation of Eggman (Sonic OVA) and Mike Pollock (every Sonic Game following Shadow The Hedgehog While still adding your own flair to the voice!
(Annoyed) Sonic! I don't have time to deal with you right now!
(Annoyed) What do you think, Dolt? Once he has the ultimate power, he'll be unstoppable! I hired them to gather the gems first, but clearly you messed things up like you always do!
(Nervous) O-Once I'm back in command you'll be richly compensated! P-promise!
The leader of the Hard Boiled Heavies, the Heavy King is an enhanced version of the Egg-Robo created by Dr. Eggman. Struck with the power of the Phantom Ruby, the Heavy King led his troop into battle against the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Voice Direction: Deep robotic voice, reminiscent of either Neo Metal Sonic, E-123 Omega, or E-102 Gamma.
With that, all the Chaos Emeralds are accounted for.
Destroying you here will accelerate my schedule. Next, I will restore the hardboiled heavies as my generals. My badnik forces will conquer the world, I will rule as its metallic overlord.
I can hear you. Your plan will fail. I am peak regal efficiency, you cannot beat me.
