SNAFU
Project Overview
SNAFU is an original (and independently made) anime about a group of young adult modern monster bounty hunters who protect their city only for profit. But as they work, they begin to discover greater enemies that make these monsters a mere nuisance in comparison- in the forms of an intergalactic pop princess, a short tempered shadow lord, a high strung jester with a personality disorder, and more.
It contains elements of comedy and action.
The project is just for funsies.
For now we are just setting up for the pilot episode so not all of the thumbnails for the characters are up to date.

He does his best to be the leader of the group- even if not everyone listens to him. He strives to be serious and intelligent like his father and does what he can to prove he's in control of him and his surroundings, though his temper can give him away sometimes. Terse, serious, firm. Many of his lines are going to be spoken angrily/ sarcastically and many are going to be spoken simply seriously. Half of the time he'll just sound fed up with life. He's not much for casual conversation. However he can get a little stammering and flustered when faced with a certain object of his affection.
"This is NOT negotiable, Ilu. I don't care what plans you might have made today, your duty is to this team and if you- SINEAD will you PLEASE stop fucking with the remote? I can't hear myself think with that thing going on in the background. Thank you."
"I don't know what you want me to tell you. It's hard enough trying to juggle all these new tasks but on top of all of this I don't think I can manage to babysit this creature. TULA, The LAST TIME I babysat him he replaced the fluff in my pillow with raw EGGS."
"A-Acel! I was uh- just uh- doing... stuff. What are uh- what are you doing in here? You weren't... you weren't WORRIED about me, were you? That's... you're sweet. You're really um. God- uh- let me start over. I'm fine. How are you?"
Sinead is very sweet but odd. The youngest member of the group (17), he tends to break the laws of reality whenever convenient and has very strange habits and little rituals he does but he's genuinely considerate and naturally subservient to a degree, just hoping to make his friends happy but often getting stuck in his own world. Sinead has a very flat and monotone voice, devoid major emotion- or really any for matter. It's soft and sleepy sounding, dull but NOT A MUMBLE. Distracted. His speech is a little bit slow but not TOO MUCH. There shouldn't be unnecessary pauses between words.
"Its a funeral. Oliver ate the last noodle cup. I am in mourning. Leave me to my somber ceremony."
"I want to marry you in case another bad man comes to take you away from me. I just want to make you safe and happy. That's... what husbands are supposed to do... right..?"
"My friends say you're not a very good person. But I don't think there's such a thing as a bad person. Just someone who's listening to the wrong voices."
Loud, spontenous, cheerful, and a vampiric sea creature, Ilu is an optimistic ray of sunshine who takes after her father in her unconditional joy, childlike wonder, and bottomless appetite. She's not stupid but she does tend to come across as a little dim-witted sometimes due to her lack of foresight. She sometimes prides herself on being deliberately obnoxious mainly to her cousin Oliver and treats her life and career like a fun game. She's peppy and noisy and doesn't take much to heart but is very family oriented and willing to risk life and limb for them.
Compare her energy to that of Pinkie-Pie. We need PEP!
"Come on, Ollie! Where's your sense of ADVENTURE?! Where's that courageous SPIRIT?! If we're not the ones to order everything on the menu, WHO WILL BE? THIS IS OUR MISSION! The blessing bestowed upon us in the form of a one-hundred dollar gift card! PLEASE, Ollie. Take pity on this poor hungry soul."
"OHMYGOSH did you guys SEE that?! It was a car! No, no, no, hear me out, it wasn't just ANY car. It was YELLOW! DON'T GIVE ME THAT LOOK! YELLOW! Like the one that guy drove! What if that's HIS car?!"
"My dad is the BEST. He can hold his liquor like nobody's business, he really likes collecting kids, he yells in public, he likes to hide stuff around the house. TH-THAT MAKES IT SOUND BAD. NONE OF THAT IS BAD. I SAID IT WEIRD- I DIDN'T MEAN TO SAY IT LIKE THAT."
Tula is a weeb, fond of anime and Japanese foods and trinkets and culture. She's a fan of electronic music and spends her free time making her own remixes and songs (as well as plays the trumpet). She's almost like a caretaker to Sinead, tending to him in an almost motherly way as the only member of the group able to understand all of his nonsense. She's a little sickly but doesn't let people see she's suffering. She's intelligent and sarcastic, witty and apathetic toward insults. She can often come across as a little TOO apathetic and dull, her voice within the realm of monotone and NASALLY but straightforward and calm. (Compare to Mandy from Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Honestly the closest comparison.)
She shouldn't have much excitement to her voice, keeping her way of talking always calm and steady without being COMPLETELY monotone. She's sarcastic toward everyone but Sinead. Sinead she is very gentle with.
"I can't believe that bitch stole my look. How low do you have to stoop to steal somebody's LIKENESS like that? Her music isn't even that good."
"What's funny right now is that you think you have a point when I'm pretty sure you've just been wasting your breath and babbling this entire time."
"It's okay, Sinny. No one is going to hurt you. I swear. I'll keep you safe. Okay? Just breathe. Calm down."
Serious and stern, she's the youngest of the 3 royal children of the Thornswallow family. Despite her serious nature and dislike for the cushy life, she has a fondness for cute and semi-gothic Lolita dresses. She doesn't let anyone boss her around- not even Oliver. Except for her mother Quinn.
She's well trained in the use of blades and guns and takes this training seriously.
She can often come across as frightening and potentially violent. She has an obsession with cats and a softness for no one but her pet panther Noir. Her voice needs to be serious and a little sharp. Everything she says sounds like some kind of threat or that she's sick of your existence. She's dangerous and it has to show in her tone.
"You make me sick. Get out of my way. I'll go by myself. You'll only ruin all our efforts."
"I can not begin to fathom what you think your worth is. Do you really consider yourself so high and mighty? I ought to cut you down to size."
"I have no preferences. As long as you leave me out of your chaotic lifestyle."
The mayor of the city the team lives in. That typical kind of blundering mayor stereotype. Thumbnail currently unavailable.

Pom is a servant of the dark queen and extremely unstable, shifting from a shaky and on-edge voice to loud and insane shouting at the drop of a hat, often talking to himself in this manner. He's eccentric and deeply loyal to his queen, willing to do anything for her under the delusion that she loves him. He needs to be able to vocally go from 0 to 100 and back to 0 again without missing a beat, his speech spontaneous and sporadic. He can be violent and often either angry or frightened.
He has a higher voice.
Dialogue in all caps are moments of insanity and normally typed dialogue is almost shaky but calmer, someone at the very edge of a mental breakdown.
"Something is wrong, something is very VEEEHEHEHRY wrong! It doesn't make sense to me. THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!! AAAH!! No, no, no, no, no, steady yourself, steady yourself, SHUT UP, YOU DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!! Oh, but I AM you! I am you and you are me and I am telling me and we are telling I and you are telling we that we are in big big big big big BIG trouble!"
"My queen will not appreciate this! No, no, she will not! She will NOT APPRECIATE THIS! Thank you for your hard work, Pom. Thank you for your loyalty, Pom. Pom is a good boy, yes. Pom is good, yes? YES?!! I am good boy. We are a good boy. Good boy treats for Pom."
"Give that back... Give that back, give that back, give that back, GIVE THAT BACK! YOU GREEDY HEATHEN AND FILTHY DEGENERATE! SCUM OF THE EARTH, BACKWASH OF SATAN, CRUD UNWORTHY TO SO MUCH AS STICK TO THE BOTTOM OF ONE'S SHOE! YOU HORRENDOUS INGRATE! INCARNATE OF DISPAIR AND MISERY! HIDEOUS CREATURE SO FOUL NOT EVEN HELL ITSELF WOULD ACCEPT YOUR SOUL WHEN YOU DIE LIKE THE DISGUSTING VERMIN YOU ARE!! Hah... hh… Please?"
Digitalis is one of the shadows of the lord Akumu. He's on the sadistic side, quite a fan of schadenfreude. He's an ass who prides himself on being an ass. His tone is typically insincere and mocking and when it's not it's just irritated and bored.
The accent isn't VITAL or even prominent to his voice. His accent is only light, not heavy.
So don't worry about the accent for right now. As long as the voice fits, it can be worked with.

"HAHAHA! You're a goddamn MORON! The hell were you thinking, dumbass?!"
"Wave, I swear to god, if you don't shut the hell up right now I'm going to shove a gun up your ass and pull the trigger."
A doll woman and "sister" of Uki with a major malicious streak. Wicked, vulgar, she takes great joy in the terrible things she does. She has a tomboyish nature and she LOVES upsetting Akumu. Despite working for him, she doesn't always obey him, following her own rules. Sarcastic, cruel, sometimes witty, and loves to laugh over the plights of others.
Accent is preferred but not 100% necessary.
"Aw, it looks like a lamb has wandered into the lion’s den. Keekeekee!"
"Hahaha! Well, aren't YOU a piece of shit!"
"I can't describe how BORING IT IS HERE! SOMEBODY FUCKIN' DO SOMETHING ALREADY BEFORE I SHOOT MYSELF!"
Loyal and sometimes soft follower of Akumu, Shad is a big man with a surprisingly big heart. He's a bit soft spoken, never quite yelling and keeping his DEEP voice strong and steady. He helps to keep the other shadows in line when they get too riled up for Akumu to deal with and is a force to be reckoned with if angered.
"Now is not time for conflict. We must keep steady head to do as told. Can not disappoint Boss."
"Queen of you but not queen of mine. I obey one and that is where loyalty lie."
"Soon. Be patient. Time will come and we will have reward for hard work."
"Earlier today the city was attacked by a juvenile Class C stone golem. Destruction was caused on 5th and 8th streets, causing several injuries but none severe. Fortunately, there were no casualties."
"Our local team of monster hunters made up of Oliver Lethicru [Leh-thih-croo], Ilu [Ee-loo] Zooks, Xylia [Zai-Lee-Ah] Thornswallow, Acel Beaulieu [Boh-Loo], Sinead [Sin-Ahd] Hoffranger, and Tulula Reekah were the first to arrive on the scene and subdued the beast before further damage was inflicted."
Wave is one of the less bright shadows of Akumu. His heart is in the right place but he mainly just does things because he's told to do them. He's optimistic, light-hearted, chill, and often perceived as a stoner due to his calm and unfocused nature.

"You know, if you like... think about it? It's not really that big a deal. It's like... a hole in the WALL but not a hole in YOU, you know? Like it could be a lot worse if the hole was in you. You already have like... 7 something holes but this one isn't SUPPOSED to be in you, you know?"
"Wait- we were allowed to send out invitations?? Dude, I had so many friends I could have invited. Like. One whole half of a friend."
"I CAN explain. But I just don't know how to yet. Gimme a minute while I try to think of any possible reason why I could be sitting here behind the toilet in full view of the tub right now while you're taking a shower. … Yeah I dunno. I'm not good at lying. Can you ask Kiki for me? She's like... a better liar."
Uki doesn't really work under Akumu, being more so an independant worker and the "sister" of Kiki. Just as malicious as her sister, Uki is a sadistic woman who follows more along the sensual way of doing things unlike her brutish sibling. Sex is a weapon- though not as much as her ACTUAL weapons- taking advantage of her curvy form. Her voice ranges from loving and sensual to nearly insane and malevolent, finding great pleasure in making her victim suffer.

"Ohh, don’t be so mean~! You’re going to scare him, Kiki! He’s our guest! Poor widdle thing~ Heeheehee~""Oh, come now, big boy. Why so angry? Do you just feel neglected? Mama can give you plenty of love~ All you have to do is put the weapon down and let me love you."
"HAHAHAH! What kind of idiot ARE you?! OH, I'm sorry, baby... did that hurt? Here, maybe THIS will help! Hahaha!"
Knight is a bright and cheerful member of Akumu's team. A ghost from the middle ages, he's learning to adapt to modern life while keeping the flair of his glory days. He speaks like a typical medieval knight in the broad and grand way of talking, sunny and happy. He's actually got a sweet personality and gets along well with his people.
He's a happy-go-lucky gay (in every meaning of the word) Brit so keep it light and bubbly!
"Yes, sir! Whatever you say, sir! Have at ye, villain!"
"Aah! What an adorable tiny thing! Smile, little one! Let’s get some colour in those cheeks!"
"Unacceptable! Only the BEST for my lord and bossman!"
Akumu is the shadow lord who's more of a wanna-be overlord than one of real authority in this world. He's serious and often sarcastic, coming across as angry and fed up with life most of the time but has moments where he perks up and maybe even sounds happy. Until one of his stupid shadows ruins his mood all over again. His voice is deep and a bit gravelly, low and attempting to be seriously commanding but usually falling just short although with some more enraged moments.
"You think that wasn’t on purpose? I’m only testing those fools. It’s wise to get a firm grasp of your foe before giving them your best. I’d rather not end up wasting my time and valuable resources on CHILDREN."
"And I get indigestion when I have to talk to bite-sized morons like you longer than I have to. GO! Get out. If this is all you have to say, you are dismissed."
"I swear to Satan below if you don't get off my back RIGHT NOW, there will be HELL TO PAY. DON'T YOU DARE WALK AWAY WHILE I AM TALKING TO YOU."
