Skidoo Theory - A Blue's Clues 30th Anniversary Video

Skidoo Theory - A Blue's Clues 30th Anniversary Video

Project Overview

Hey! πŸ‘‹ This project is a YouTube video set to come out on Blue's Clues' 30th anniversary this September 8th 🐾

The plan is to pay homage to the series by walking through a theory I have regarding the nature of skidoos, presented in the format of an episode of Blue's Clues that I'll be hosting. Each activity and the game of Blue's Clues (or Someone's Clues as the one leaving the clues is a mystery) all adding evidence that leads to the main crux of the theory. In the video, a few original characters (some reminiscent of the household characters in the show) show up along the way to help out and show their support. That's where I need you! πŸ‘€

The final video itself is planned to be somewhere close to normal Blue's Clues episode length (22-24 mins), more or less depending on the final script. Regardless, the characters I'm casting here won't have many lines. The final script isn't finished yet, but with the scenes I have in mind, no character should have any more than 10 lines if even that many ✍️

This is an unpaid project but of course you will be credited, both in the video itself and in the description. Additionally any socials or other links you'd like can be in the description as well πŸ”—

That's about it! I'm excited to hear your audition! 🀩

  • πŸ—£ 2 Additional Roles 🎡

Hey everyone! First of all, thanks so much to those who have auditioned so far, so happy to see interest in my little anniversary project ☺️

Secondly, I've added two new roles I'm casting. One is the host's friends (the kids who shout out clues and answers) and the other is a musician. Honestly I have no idea if I'll be able to find a musician for this, especially given that this is an unpaid project, but I hope to be happily surprised 🀞

That's all that's new for now, thanks for reading!

Cabby

Cabby is a small cabinet on wheels. She often hangs out in the living room by the Thinking Chair, holding the notebook as well as other art supplies, acting in the same role as Sidetable Drawer. While she does love spending time with her friends, she also likes to hunker down behind the Thinking Chair on her own, relaxing and writing stories ✍️

She's a chipper yet chill presence in the house.

Mirror is a small handheld mirror. He typically hangs out in the bathroom, similar to Slippery Soap. His favorite hobby is cosplaying as people and mimicking (or mirroring 😜) them for fun, just a wholesome little copycat.

He's very excitable and has a more childish vibe than the others.

  • [confused] "Nope, I didn't leave any clues for you. Must've been someone else."

  • [suddenly remembered] "Oh right! I have something that might help!"

Mr. Measure

Mr. Measure is an orange measuring cup. He's the main cook of the house alongside his wife, Mrs. Measure, much like Mr. Salt & Mrs. Pepper. He loves making snacks and meals for everyone in the house, seemingly never showing up without a freshly made treat to offer.

A sweet and motivated man, always happy to lend a hand.. figuratively πŸ˜…

[Additionally, as Mr. Salt & Mrs. Pepper are French, I'd like Mr. Measure to have an accent too. I haven't yet decided officially which one. I'm slightly leaning towards Scottish, but Irish or British might be just as fitting if not more so. Feel free to audition with one or multiple of those accent options.]

Peter P. Duck

Peter is a small anthropomorphic duck. Absolutely the sweetest little guy you could ever hope to meet, very focused on mental health, always checking in on and offering help and helpful items to everyone around him. He quacks rather than speaks, quacking to the rhythm of words just like Blue and her barks, though in this video Peter takes the role of Mailbox and delivers a letter βœ‰οΈ

A cute, ever chipper, comforting presence out to brighten all the moods.

  • [Quacking to the rythm of the classic phrase, "Heeere's your letter!"]

  • [Quacking to the tune of the Mailtime intro jingle.]

  • [General happy quacks, maybe quack out a random song as a goof, have fun with it! πŸ€ͺ]

Host's Friends

One of the most important parts of an episode of Blue's Clues is the cast of voices helping out the host. Whether it's pointing out clues or helping with various activities, an episode would feel off without them.

I'll be casting a few for this one. Sounding like a child would definitely be preferable, but isn't strictly necessary.

I'm looking for a musician to add that extra bit of fun polish to the video. This is for intro and credit music, as well as bits of background music throughout. I have about 11 bits of music in mind as of now, each ranging from only a few seconds to 30 seconds max, with one exception being the credits which I'd want to be around a minute.

A lot of what I'm imagining is twists on existing songs from the series (and one or two straight from it), so the ability to recreate them by ear is important. As for the vibe of the music, I'm imagining something bright, fun, and fairly acoustic (guitar/ukulele and/or piano/keyboard as the main instruments). Also just to be clear, absolutely 🚫 NO AI GENERATION 🚫 is allowed in the production.

No idea if this is all too much to ask for an unpaid project, this one is kind of a crapshoot if I'm honest. I'll just use existing generic tracks if I must, but I would SO appreciate a willing musician to help go that extra mile and make the finished product that much more special.
