Project Overview

Hello! Thank you for checking out my project!


I am a junior animation student, and I have a junior film coming up that I need some voice actors for!


So, my film is called "Shortcut", and here is a quick synopsis:


A girl named Abigail is walking around a post-apocalyptic world, trying to re-plant the world to help bring life back. She is accompanied by Cede, a robotic partner that lives inside of the backpack that Abigail carries around. As the two are walking, Cede gives the direction for the next location to go plant seeds, but Abigail says it would be quicker to go through a destroyed city based on the directions. Cede warns and pleads over and over to not go through the city, but Abigail does it anyway. As they enter through the city, some buildings start to crumble, leading to Abigail breaking Cede. Now scared and scurrying around, she tries to find a way to bring Cede back. 


I do need the voices soon, as I've already started the animation process, but I'm just currently working on scenes that don't require dialogue.


And even though I am a college student, you will get paid! I apologize if it's not a lot however, once again I'm a college student.

  • Congrats to those cast!

    Oh man, that was seriously tough! It was so difficult casting only ONE person for each role. Like I said before you guys did an AMAZING job!

    Anywho, I made a little mistake. In sorting my candidates from yesterday I shortlisted them thinking that was how you should do it, but I think that instead made the audition private, so now it says it was cast to an offsite person. Sorry everyone! I told you I haven't done a project this size before.

    In any case: say congrats to the people cast!

  • (UPDATE) It's time to cast!

    Hello once again!

    So, I must admit something. I haven't had to do a project of this size before! I didn't realize how long it would take to sit through all 260 auditions, but I did manage to get through them all! Everyone did such an amazing job and you guys are seriously talented!

    However, like I said, it took me longer than anticipated to go through everyone's auditions. I currently wrote down everyone I'm considering, so you can kinda think of it like a "Round 1" of casting. Unfortunately, however, I have other things I have to do today. The final decisions will be made tomorrow, Feburary 20th. See you all then!

  • It's time to cast!

    So the time has finally come for me to sit down and go through the auditions. Thank you everyone who decided to submit one! I was not expecting 260 auditions! I'm glad I've seen a lot of people think that this is a fun and neat project.

    So if you get casted, I'll be sending you a message soon after! I'll be talking about preferred forms of contact, what work you'll be doing, timeframes, and payment. So once we get all of that sorted out, then we can begin working! Make sure you check CCC closely! I'm giving anyone who is cast around 36 hours to respond, otherwise, I'll be moving on to the next person!

    And for people who don't get casted, don't fret! I will also be choosing some backups, in case anything happens. Though if it does, I'll probably need you to respond quickly, so make sure to keep a check on CCC! I'll probably send an update beforehand too. Plus, I still have a Senior film to make as well, so I'll definitely be keeping some of you guys in mind for that.

This is a lead role.


Abigail is an 18-year-old girl who has been put into a job trying to re-grow a destroyed Earth. This has made her to be generally annoyed with a lot of her surroundings, especially her partner in re-growing the earth, Cede. Most of her job has been spent alone, with only Cede, which has had an affect on her mental state and made her depressed, despite what she tries to show on the outside. This attitude almost costs her dearly in the film, when she doesn't listen to Cede's warnings.


Abigail's voice should be slightly deeper than normal pitched, and generally come off as someone who is tired and fed up 24/7. That is until the incident with Cede happens, which she then goes back to being normal pitched.

This is a lead role, though he won't have as many lines as Abigail.


Cede is a robotic assistant that lives inside of Abigail's backpack. His main job is to assist Abigail in re-growing the Earth, while also providing her company (despite how much she doesn't want it). He generally has a bright personality to help contrast the bleak world, and tries to cheer Abigail up most of his time. He also tries to provide directions and advice to Abigail, to which she can also ignore, which leads to what happens in the story.


Cede is meant to have a high-pitched voice. All of his emotions and words are supposed to be over-dramatic, so even him saying something as simple as pointing out directions, he sounds like he's having a blast. He can either sound clearly male, or he can sound androgynous.

This is a background/supporting character.


This is a guy who lives in a rundown mechanics shop, because he doesn't want to leave the destroyed city he loved so much. Abigail runs into this guy to ask him for parts.


The man is in his 50's, and has a decently deep voice. He also doesn't produce a lot of emotion, except in the climax of the story.
