Project Overview
So what is Rifted?
The story takes place in a land protected by the Dravara, a military organization that defends against what haunts over the Rift.
Running from the required two years of service in the Dravara isn’t unusual, and oftentimes facing a bounty hunter is better than what lies east. Sixteen-year-old Evander makes the decision to flee, but in a tragic turn of events Evander is separated from his family, and Evander is left to fend for himself. However, running can’t go on forever, and Evander is forced to face a reality even more terrifying than being on his own. What prowls over the Rift quickly becomes more than just fairy-tale and he discovers that not everything is exactly as it seems.
What follows is nothing short of a revolution.

The story deals with many issues that people face themselves, some small while others are quite large and seem impossible to tackle head on. It explores ways of overcoming them, the hardships they cause and just what it means to be truly human, while also including a cast of predominantly LGBT+ characters, including the main character, as well as others from various minority groups.
For roles featuring a character of a certain background/sexuality, I encourage those sharing that with the character to apply! However, it's not a requirement, of course. (Ex. a gay man may audition for the role of a gay character, but sharing that sexuality is not a requirement to audition)

Extra Requirements:
1. Clear mic quality (doesn't have to be perfect, but minimal or no background noise, no clipping, no echo)
2. Willingness to commit to longer term project. If you take a role, make sure you can keep working on this! In the event of emergencies or unforeseen circumstances, obviously this is something that can be talked about/worked around!
3. Absolutely no hate/racism/homophobia will be tolerated. There will not be warnings. You will be removed. I want this to be a comfortable place for people, and I can't make this a good environment with bigotry present. For ALL ROLES and to be a part of this project, you must be LGBTQ+ friendly. Not willing to budge on this one.
4. Sounds cheesy, but I want everyone to have fun and feel like they're a part of this, not just reading lines without interacting with the others in the project. For this reason, have the ability to use discord so I can communicate with you and the rest of the cast.

Elizabeth is a character that exists in flashback scenes and is around 15-16 years old. She's the youngest of three adoptive siblings, and has a knack for finding trouble or creating it. Very much a "leader" type personality, and craves adventure in life. She's charismatic and excitable, likes to tease her siblings and give people a hard time, especially those she cares about. For now, her role is limited, but becomes larger later.
(quiet) “You don’t have to lie. No one is going to hurt you here,” she assured him, “you’re safe.”
“What did you burn?” (PAUSE) "Was it important to you?"
(playful) “Since he showed up, I haven’t had to do any of the work myself. So, yes, I am enjoying it. Can’t I have a little fun?”
Rowena is a very driven person. She currently leads the world equivalent of the military organization in eastern Bruun, along with a supporting network of officers. Outwardly, she's very confident, blunt and charismatic. Her personality fluctuates into paranoid and cruel quite a bit, but only when she believes she's losing control of a situation. Her words are cutting and short, and she rarely raises her voice and can have a sort of monotone or methodical way of speaking.
She plays a huge role in Rifted, and is probably the character with the most lines aside from Aurora and Daniel.
(dismissive) “Oh, it was horribly minor but it still worries me. A few of my men claim to have been attacked but none were injured. I wonder if it was just the wolves again. They get bolder when the winters fully set in.”
(a bit mocking, almost playful in an oddly informal and friendly way) “I was never able to understand you. You act like you have such a mystery about you. The glares, the reclusive behavior,” she paused, stepping forward, “certainly helps you with that. Your silly little hat throws that all off a bit, doesn’t it? It’s truly a shame you’re leaving us so soon.”
(furious, shaky and demanding) “You are nothing but a lie! You never had anything true in your life, Aurora. Even Daniel, your only friend, was fake. Are you going to die a liar as well or do you have anything to confess?”
Silas rarely talks. That's probably the most important thing to know about him for now, other than the fact he also exists only in flashbacks. He's the oldest of three adoptive siblings, selectively mute, and is blood related to Aurora.
He's a gentle giant, tall and gaunt. Silas tends to stick to Elizabeth like glue, and is hardly seen without her. His voice is soft and careful, like he chooses his words very carefully. Truthfully, his voice can sound like he's not used to using it, uncomfortable with speaking out loud. Regardless, he has a very low voice. A good portion of his lines will be "sounds" like grunts or agreement, unsure noises, etc. He prefers to write out things he wants to say, or say them through actions.
(soft, gentle) "No." (PAUSE) "I don't know."
*agreement grunt, unsure sound, "er", "um" or related sounds/words*
(forlorn) "Don't make me bury you too."
Harriett is a newer officer in the Dravara, desperate to please. She plays a relatively minor role for a bit, but will have a bigger one later.
She is a good listener, wants to do the best she can to make people happy with her, and is about the hardest worker you could ask for. In some cases, she can be a bit gullible, and puts her trust in the wrong people, but she has a good heart and doesn't mean any real harm.
Must be comfortable playing a lesbian character for her role. I mention it because it comes up in the story.
(nervous, quickly) “I-I honestly was surprised you chose me to replace Norton. There were plenty of others who have been here much longer. Alexandra, you know her, don’t you?” (PAUSE, continue more nervously) “I’m sorry, of course you do. She’s been an officer for…well, I really don’t know how long."
(surprised) “Y-you do? You can call me Harriet, if you’d like."
(confident) "Yes, ma'am...of course."
Various roles, likely will be one liners and things like that. Will invite/cast more than one person.
"Yes, ma'am!"
"Sir, there's a breach on the southern wall."
