Resident Evil File Readings - First Aid Spray Podcast
Project Overview
First Aid Spray is a long-standing and successful Resident Evil podcast that covers all parts of the series. We break up the discussion with readings of the various files from the games as read by fans and voice actors.
The doting mother of the Baker household, from Resident Evil 7. This file shows her decline into infection, from concerned about her health to her falling into Eveline's control, which she becomes violent.
Voice match preferred. Two audition lines, to allow you to show the range.
- female adult

(pre-infection) My ears have been ringing all day and I haven't been able to sleep since the child showed up. It's like Zoe says: There's something strange about the child, and the woman she brought with her.
(post-infection) I put the present in the secret room right at the back of the second floor, where nobody will find it. That arm is a sign of the child's trust. That arm will lead us to happiness. And anyone who corrupts that happiness... I won't allow them to live.
From Resident Evil 7. A shipworker, bored with his job, and expressing some pretty standard suspicion about unexpected passengers. As far as Resident Evil files go, this is tame but is therefore up to a lot of voice interpretation.
Male, any accent.
- male adult
I guess half a year or so will have passed by the time you get this letter. Life is so boring here. Day after day, just the same old sea. Although there is one thing that's different. This time we have some passengers sailing with us, which hardly ever happens.
From Resident Evil (1996). A classic information file that tells players about the healing herbs in the game, framed as a informative in-universe book. Therefore, narrated to some extent like an audiobook. The file is written quite casually, rather than dry scientific information, so best that that is reflected in your performance.
Any gender/any accent.
As you may know, there are many plants that have medical effects. Since ancient times, humans have been healing wounds and diseases using various plants. In this book, we're going to sample three herbs that grow around the Raccoon mountains and give their outlines as examples of those plants with medical properties.
from Resident Evil Revelations. This is a call back to the original 1996 file (listed above), but in-universe has been re-published. Similiar situation - narrated casually/warmly.
Any gender/accent.
Humans have been using plants to heal wounds and cure diseases ever since ancient times. An example of one of these types of plants is a herb that grows wild in the Arklay Mountain area. The bright green herb not only heals fatigue, but it also helps to strengthen the natural healing process so that wounds heal faster.
Reading Observation Note from Resident Evil (2002). This is a report from famed Umbrella scientist, William Birkin, that expresses excitement at his own breakthroughs, as well as spite for others around him.
- american
This observation gave me more insight in my research. Through further modification and testing, I was able to derive a method to create the "G" that surpasses the performance of the "T". This was the breakthrough that would change the future of the B.O.W.'s history.
from Resident Evil 3 (2020). A classic RE file that shows the decline of an infected person, moving from panic to despair. Slightly aggressive in his speech.
Male, any accent.

I need to check in on my ma uptown, but the boss says I can't leave till I drop all the breakers. Goddammit. Better finish up quick so I can get out of here. My stomach hurts so much I can hardly move.
Reading two "Spencer's Research" files from Resident Evil Requiem. The patriarch of the Umbrella corporation, a cold and selfish old man who speaks in tones befitting a man who thinks he understands the world a lot better than everyone else.
Voice match preferred.

Just as fruit flies have the potential to pass on certain memories to their offspring through their genes, so too can the memories of a human donor be passed on to a recipient The question we now face is how to harness this incredible potential. The answer lies in the medium of memory–blood. Cells within the blood contain multitudes of information, including factors tied to memory.
from Resident Evil Revelations 2. A deluded file from a man taking a stand in history, but on the wrong side - self-assured all the same. Don't go too bombastic with it - but slightly a small shake of crazed would do well.
Voice match preferred.
My fellow visionaries, The time has finally come. Everything has gone as I said it would. All that remains is for her to hold up her end of the bargain. And then I can finish what we started seven years ago. Just one little sample is all I need to change the world.
from Resident Evil Dead Aim. A shop worker writing quite a normal diary about his boring life working on an Umbrella cruise-liner that takes a strange turn when he notices something suspicious.
Any accent/gender.
I finally have something to write about. Today large cargo was carried into the Presentation Room, which is beyond the Boiler Room. Recently, many people are going in and out of that room. I wonder what's taking place there? I'm curious because the crew doesn't have access to that room...
from Resident Evil Survivor 2. A rare file from a rare game, written from the perspective of Steve Burnside's deadbeat Dad. An apologetic final note from Father to Son, admitting his failures.
The file is written with various redacted information in game stylised as "xxxxxx", presumably marking something unreadable. Our best way to convert this in audio is static, even though perhaps that goes against the name of the file. As such, we're asking those auditioning/cast to read with gags for static.

I can admit that I was not a good father to you, but I've loved ×××××××× I can't hide what I've been doing. I can't undo what I've done. All I can do is pray that you live.
Reading Chief's Note from Resident Evil 4 (2005). A diary from a subordinate, speculating on the motivations of his Master but committing to his orders. Clearly the thoughts of a calm, clever tactician.
Voice match preferred.

As instructed by Lord Saddler, I have the agent in confinement, alive. Why keep him alive? I do not fully understand what the Lord's intentions are. I would, however, think he'd keep them separate; not confine them together as has been ordered.
