Project Overview

Radio Riot is an original post-apocalyptic drama.
In this series, we follow a cast of survivors through Virginia as they struggle to survive in the infected town of Richmond, filled with only what is known as Rioters.
Little do they know, there's many other threats to be dealt with than the infected alone...

If you audition for either:

  • Voice Actor

  • Co-Writer

You may have to send previous works. Please be prepared for that!

Requirements:

  • Must have Discord, and be active on it as well

  • Be alright with explicit language (preferably be 18+)

  • Meet given deadlines

  • Have good mic quality (this is a sort of big 'duh')

  • Must be cooperative and understanding (especially if you are casted as a co-writer!)

(Face claims for the characters were found here)

Latest Updates

  • On Hold

I sincerely apologize for my lack of communication, but this project is currently on hold. I've decided to continue on with another project while I keep up with ones that I was cast for previously to decrease my workload as it is quite difficult running this by myself. If you would still like to work with me, please keep an eye out for another comic dub series post. Otherwise, I will keep this up and cast when I know I have the skills and ability to properly direct this original podcast series. Thank you for your patience, and I hope to see you all there!
  • Casting Time!

After pushing the date back one final time, whether I'm prepared or not, I've finally decided to start casting. Thank you for auditioning everyone, and congrats to whoever may be chosen!
  • Casting!

Hey guys! So I just wanted to let everyone know that I'll finally be casting, but not for a little bit here - a few days, give or take - to recover as I've been very sick for the past week. But just know that this is gonna happen!
  • Deadline coming up! + Update

Hey guys, it's been quite a while now! I wanted to let everyone know that I'm currently looking for co-writers to assist me with this project. During the whole COVID madness and personal life interference, I've been unable to keep up with my writing. If you would like an insiders look into Radio Riot and would love to lend a hand in weaving our tale, please don't hesitate to dm me. I need as much help as I could get!
  • Moved Date + Progress

Due to personal issues with COVID-19, the writing process has been put on hold. But that doesn't mean that this project will be cancelled! With 3 scripts under my belt and a few left to go, it's been a bit frustrating with the lack of outside help. But I insist that the show will go on! On top of this, I've been spending time on another audio drama that's based around ancient Greece called The Sons of Sparta. Once I get the ball rolling with Radio Riot, I'll take my time in developing my second one further. But until then, stay safe and happy auditioning!

Arkina, before the apocalypse, was a humble single mother of three children, and a great worker of the Channel 8 newscasters, but after the downfall, all she could do was run. She didn't mean to - oh, how she didn't - but she fell too far behind in a rush to flee the city, but while on the hunt for food before they left, the nuclear victims captured her daughters, eating them right in front of her very eyes. After the incident, she met up with the crew on the way to Richmond, Virginia.
Arkina's personality consists of a calm, assertive attitude, and absolutely no-nonsense whatsoever. (Accent optional, since on the doc I wrote her in as Armenian.)

  • (Sarcastic) You have to be kidding me, right? I survived months of... this, and you come to tell me that you've ran into some kind of cannibal cult? If you think that's supposed to scare me, you're sorely mistaken.

  • (Scared, on the brink of tears; Narration) If anyone is out there, please, for the love of god... help me. It's like I'm grasping at nothing here, and it hurts me so much. My babies... oh god, my babies...
They took them. Their filthy, blackened teeth gnawing at their pale flesh... I can't stop thinking about it. I can't get it out of my goddamn head. What kind of god lets such creatures do such a horrendous thing? Haha, it feels like I'm going insane...

  • (Angry) Terrifying? Do you want to know terrifying? Terrifying is watching those monsters rip your only children from your hands, and stare them in the eye while they devour them in seconds, and all you can do is just fucking watch.
Don't come to me with your problems until you've lost the only family you have left.

Mitsuma is a regular to Virginia, for his daughter. On the day of her daughter's birthday, the sirens came. Only a mere hours after the bombing - Midori and Mitsuma were fighting tooth and nail against the undead horde. Mitsuma is one of your average tourists - the pale green capris, the oversized shirts, you name it and he's got it. But after the nuclear wave, he met the team in the abandoned mall on the outskirts of Richmond.
Since Mitsuma is a bit older, I'd see him having a bit of a Japanese accent, but of course, that's up to the actor! Have fun with it! (You may have to speak short phrases in Japanese when he talks with his daughter, but it isn't anything to complex. I'll work with the actor on this!)

  • (Calm) Arkina, you need to understand that this boy isn't one of them. Midori and I have checked him over several times, and he isn't a threat at all. You need to understand that not everything that walks through those doors is evil... thankfully.

  • (Sad) It's hard to believe that after all this time most of us can't come to terms with what the world has become. Just leaving our home, I saw things no man ever should. I would put the blame on shock, but this is much more than that. This is psychological torture sent from Hell.

  • (In urgency) I haven't seen where the security room is, but once I find it, I'll let you know. Devin and I must make sure David is in good hands before his life falls into the wrong ones. If it were my son, I'd want that. Stop putting yourself ahead of others, Arkina.

Able lives in Alexandria, Virginia. After a few years of his service, he had his first homecoming a few weeks before the outbreak, fighting in Iraq alongside Roman, his German Shepherd. Only a few days away from departure back to Iraq where his camp was set, the apocalypse swept the nation in only a few days. He tried to gather up as much as he could before he knew it was too late, only to fail miserably and leave everything he knew behind. He met up with the team while he was on his way through Richmond.
For Able, I'd prefer a sort of deeper "tough guy" voice, but that's just me. Do what you feel would fit! (Slight southern accent is a plus!)

  • (Groaning; angry) I can't handle another minute of this! God knows we've been through enough shit as it is, we don't need to take any unnecessary risks! Midori and Jezebel told me that it'd be best if we just stayed put until this storm is over, and I think we should do exactly what they say. Moving out when we can barely see anything, with those... things out there? The last thing we need is any rioters breathing down our fuckin' necks.

  • (Holding Roman to his chest, trying to calm him) C'mon big guy, don't worry. I gotcha. I'm not going anywhere.

  • (Sighs, sounding like a frustrated dad) David, I was told that I had to watch you for the night. Ruby told me a certain someone - not to name names - has been sneaking off outside recently, and has been leaving the door unlocked. I know it sounds harmless, but these rioters are getting smarter every day. It won't be long before they finally learn how to use doorknobs, and you need to know that it ain't right to put us all at risk. You're just a kid and I get that you need to get out every now and then, but you need to keep it down. Alright?

Midori lives in Richmond, originally studying as a surgeon. One of her first studies on the unknown plague, being mutated from the known H1N1 virus, for when any living organism comes in contact with the virus, they become completely unable to move and speak, as if they are paralyzed. After getting ready for work, some came downstairs to greet her father before going on her way to work - but her attention was caught by the ongoing message on the television screen stating that the rest that was inhabited in the US had only a few mere hours to depart the contaminated networks. Her father took her away, holding up in the mall until they were rescued by the team.
I don't have anything in mind for Midori, but I'd prefer an accent for her. If not, that's fine!

  • (Tired) I've been up for hours trying to analyze these specimens, but I couldn't stay awake for very long. Just... don't go in there. It's a mess.

  • (Narration; sad) Between my father and I, we're the only ones that can truly understand what happened. There was no big bang, no nuclear winter... nothing. It just started with a few isolated cases, maybe ten or twenty. They went crazy, like feral dogs being let loose. We called those inhuman beings Rioters - you can't tell what they are, but you'll sure as hell know when they get to you.

  • (Annoyed) Devin, are you done ranting to the newcomer about Arkina? Goodness knows that he's had an earful already, leave the poor boy alone and let him settle in. This must be traumatic for him.

David lived with his grandmother due to his parents’ divorce and mother's prison admittance, leaving him stranded in the middle of Virginia. He excelled at every class and was more or less the genius among his friends, and worked towards graduating earlier than his class due to his excelling grades. David was picked up by Able while he was trapped in the shed in his backyard while hiding from his infected grandmother. (bio is a wip)
Either male or female can voice David, as he's fairly young in age. As long as you hit the edgy teen range, you're good!

  • (Relieved, still scared) Thank you so much sir, you have no idea how long I've been stuck in there! I don't know how long myself, but I'd assume it was a while. I hope my grandma didn't give you too much of a problem, with her going crazy and all. I don't know what got into her!

  • (Whining) Able, you don't understand! I neeeed to go outside! Shouldn't a kid like, get a certain amount of hours of fresh air daily? Didn't they teach you that in elementary school? It's simple knowledge, you gotta know that by now! So what if a few rioters manage to get inside, I know you guys can handle them - you're all super tough!

  • (Laughing) Haha, yeah! Come on Jez, don't worry, we'll be back before the others realize we're missing! Abel and I will keep you safe, I promise. Even though I'm short, I still got a lot of fight in me. That's what my momma told me a looong time ago, and I still believe it's true. I'm still here, aren't I? So c'mon! Let's go on an adventure on the outside before Arkina notices we're gone!

Jezebel trained for years to join the Marines, and was on her way to sign the draft before the nuclear wave hit Virginia. She stops on the side of the road as everyone swamps the highway and meets Ruby, where they walk the rest of the way to the mall. (bio wip)
I'd see Jezebel with more of a tough tomgirl sort of voice, but you're free to do whatever you'd like with her!

  • (Small giggle) Don't worry about it, Arkina. Don't think of it as me being your personal bodyguard or whatever, but as extra protection. It doesn't help my case, but sure, at least it'll keep your mind at ease while you're working. Us tough guys have your back, don't we, Able?

  • (Thinking; then absolutely full of herself) Oh man, you guys got the radio working? That's fuckin' awesome! We have to start coming up with codenames now, don't we? So they can recognize who we are? Hmmm... What about Salem? I think my codename is pretty damn awesome if you ask me.
Oh, and Ruby likes constellations and shit, right? Hers should be Gemini! You can thank me later.

  • (Sad) You... you what? Don't lie to me now, tell me the truth. Mitsuma, did you see where she went? I refuse to believe that she would run away in a situation like this. Midori wouldn't leave us behind, especially you. You're her father, for christ's sake. Maybe she decided to go on the medicine run with Devin and Able, but she definitely wouldn't have went out alone.
(Under her breath) Fuck, I wish Arkina took her walkie-talkie for once. This is a really important thing here, and of course, she forgot it as usual.

Devin, before the apocalypse, was a typical single drunk, crawling through as many bars as he could in waist-deep depression and a broken heart. After hearing the siren and the messages through the tv screen at the old Winchester Bar, it was like a wake-up call. After getting up on his feet, he headed for his hometown to seek help from his family in Richmond, Virginia.
He acts tough, but in reality, he's just as scared as everyone else - maybe more than that. He's basically the coward and comedy relief.
I don't have anything in mind for Devin quite yet, so go wild with his voice! (He's mainly Nordic, so if you want to try an accent, go right ahead!)

  • (Sighs) If you think you have problems, just look at Arkina. I haven't heard the end of all the shit she's been through, and I've known her for... what, like, three days?
(Under his breath) Trust me, it never seems to end with her. One moment she's happy, then the next she's beating someone because they took one step out of line. I sure wouldn't trust that bitch around my kids, that's for damn sure.

  • (Slurred) So you mean I wasn't supposed to drink any of this? C'mon man, there's plenty of bottles around to use for molotovs - and besides, we aren't leaving the Winchester until we know for sure that the military is gonna be here! So come on, relax a little! Everything's gonna be just fine!

  • (Terrified after being snuck up on) Able, what the hell, man!
(Frustrated) It isn't funny at all! What if you were one of the rioters, huh? One more step and you would've been dead!

Likes science, specifically Astrology. Ruby would then meet up with Jezebel, and since they attended the same college, they would team up to travel to the mall. (bio wip)
Since Ruby is Australian, I'd suggest trying an Australian accent on her. If that doesn't work out, you can go without one, or try a completely different accent, It's up to you!

  • (Scared; clinging on to Jezebel) Jesus, what the hell is going on? I was on my way to class and I heard the warning on the radio. Jez, what's happening? This isn't normal. I haven't been able to move my car an inch since I heard the sirens, and there's the screaming... god, the screaming. What do we do?

  • (Angry) Don't worry about it, okay Able? You're a man, aren't you? Figure it out. This isn't just "normal girl" shit, okay? I'm seriously upset, and just need to be alone. Just... go to a different department, okay? There are thousands in this area of the mall, isn't there? Then go and bug someone else in a different one! Try the furniture department, I think Davie's hanging out there.
(Under her breath) God knows he needs someone right now... poor kid probably has it worse than us right now.

  • (Smiling; humble) Well, I'm no scientist, but I'm pretty knowledgable in these sort of things. If anything, Midori is much more advanced in this sort of thing than me, her being a surgeon in training after all. I just assist her with medical research when it comes to the rioters, and that's about it. It isn't much, but at least it keeps me busy and gives me another purpose other than my regular scouting duties.

As a part of this series, Arlo is a part of the  British military personnel that was stationed at a listening post in the Phoenix Isles. That was until a new shipment came in with a concentrated strain of the virus that infected the nuclear fallout victims. After spending weeks frequenting the radios in every country, Arlo finally came in contact with Arkina and her group; becoming the guide that they needed for safety, only being known by his codename Motherland - and addresses the team only by their codenames as well to keep it impersonal.
For Arlo's voice, I'd rather him have a British accent, as it'd go along with his character - but any other accent will do. I'd just like to stray away from the standard American accent is all!

  • (Calming) Karma,  I know you've been through a lot, but I need you to tell me everything that happened no matter how much it hurts. Please continue, I have my pen and paper right here.

  • (Panicked) All of you need to get moving. Now. I'm keeping an eye on the monitors, and I see several rioters coming your way. Aras, Trinity, I need you two to get everyone into the closest store and lock the doors immediately.

  • (Stand-offish) So... does anyone here like music? I have a few records that I brought with when I was deployed here. I'm not so sure if anyone here likes it, but it's mostly classical....
(After an awkward silence as a reply) Did I hear a yes? Alright then Orion, this one's for you!
