Queen of Hearts is an indie visual novel currently in development. With a dark and ambient aesthetic and a multiple 'what if?' route game structure, the game explores one person's trauma through the lens of all who are affected by it. The player makes decisions through Leo, the main character of our story, spending his Christmas Eve night taking care of his best friend, Sammy, whose unpredictable behavior as a result of his trauma means he cannot be left unattended especially on a night like Christmas, a day that is significantly tied to the cause of his grief. He can always be found with his deck of cards, his only comfort and his own personal system for decision-making. He is particularly obsessed with the queen of hearts card, no one really knows why… In the other room is Sammy's sister, Victoria, whom he hasn't spoken to for over a year and has now given up on trying to help her brother. Just on the other side of the phone waiting to call is Audrey, the only one who truly believes Sammy can still be helped. Leo is starting to have his doubts, torn between the pressure and guilt Audrey leaves him with and his desire to understand Victoria better.

EXPECTATIONS + GUIDELINES:
MUST BE 18+ TO BE CONSIDERED FOR CASTING. Minors are welcome to audition as practice but will not be selected for roles due to this game being intended for mature audiences.
I'm looking for grounded and realistic performances. Please don't deliver these lines like it's an anime.
No prior experience or demo reel is required.
Applicants are welcome to audition for more than one character.
Audio quality will be factored into consideration. You don't need a professional setup, but please make sure your recordings have minimal background noise and the audio isn't too loud/quiet.
Do not slate your audition.
2 takes of each line are encouraged (ABCABC format only), but 1 take per line is fine.

PAYMENT INFORMATION:
I am offering a flat rate of $250 USD. However, because the word count for each character is still undetermined at this time as the script is still in a stage of finalization, the compensation amount is up for negotiation. Table reads will not be paid.
AI has never and will never be used in the development of this game whatsoever. Your voice will not be used to feed generative AI models in any way shape or form.
