Project Breach (Adventure Game)

Project Overview

Project breach is a narrative driven adventure game. Make choices, solve puzzles, effect outcome.

Outpost 12 - 9:27 p.m.

On a calm, ordinary evening, while gazing out at the setting sun along the horizon of the ocean, a flash of activity suddenly erupts on the screen in front of you. It was only for an instant - but it happened... you're sure it happened. Except there was no alarm, no data log - no evidence.

Reeling with panic and uncertainty, you anxiously await Lor's next visit. She is due to pass with her team soon, and you are hoping she can help shed some light on the unusual event. On schedule, the team of divers arrive – a team of three, Lor distinctly absent. Breaching protocol, you ask for an explanation...and are met with genuine confusion and repeated assurances that there has never been a fourth team member.

Greetings! This is a solo developed game, something I've been working on for some time. The casting call is for one of the main leads – Lor. This release is 'part 1' of what is intended to be a three part story. Development of part 1 is nearly complete.

The story is that of suspense and mystery. As such, the ideal performance is to be grounded, taking care with how the character is thinking and feeling. Lor is a complex character, and I hope from an acting perspective that this is appealing. There is some 'meat on the bone' as it were. The details of the story and character I can provide are somewhat light, as it is a mystery, however I have detailed out the situations in the lines below.

If selected, the hope would be to have you participate in the next chapters as well.

Thank you for checking out this project!

For Part 1, Lor has approx. 2400 words of dialogue.

Well here we are. A lot of great performances, and the one role...I'm going to need a few days. Again, I really want to thank everyone, and I'm going to push to get back here for more casting.

    So much talent here.

Solo game development can be a brutal, lonely affair, but to hear my words be delivered like this is humbling and very exciting, so thank you.

You're not making this easy at all though.

For those not cast here and for male VAs as well who would like to be apart of this project, I can say that part 2 would have many more roles to be filled, and there is nothing I'd like more than to make it. In fact there is so much talent, I may need to add some characters.

I just wanted to say the level of talent here is well noted, and to thank you for your interest in the game!

In the story we find Lor in two very different mental states. One lighthearted and jovial, though still a bit mysterious, and the other – cold, blunt, often hostile. That's not to say there aren't complexities and exceptions to both, just two different baselines.

Lor is apart of a research team on a remote island, and can usually be found wearing diving gear. She is intelligent, confident and well trained, though frequently likes to 'let her hair down'. She has a mysterious quality, like she might have some secrets.

Lor most often knows she has the upper hand in conversation. In her lighthearted frame of mind she is friendly, but will also try to mess with those she's talking to a bit (in a non-mean kind of way). She finds it amusing (line 0). In her hostile state, she is direct, and will unleash an ungodly firestorm upon you (line1).

She should have a warm, confident tone.

  • (Lor is lounging after a long day, watching you work. There is a nice sunset in the BG) (Relaxed/playful) You know...I can see why you put up with this gig. Pretty neat up here. I mean, I don't know about spending everyday starring at a screen by yourself...but the view is not bad. (She reaches into the bag, and starts munching on something surprisingly good!) I think even your rations taste better! (she thinks to herself) That could be just because they don't belong to me though.

  • (Lor is about to start an argument)(Hostile/Annoyed)What is it with you exactly? Five minutes ago this random guy pops out of a bush, says 'hey wanna be buddies', and you don't seem to think twice about it. (She takes a breath) I'm just saying you are just a little too trusting. We've only just met the guy, and you're buying everything he says!

  • (Lor is conflicted, and is trying to watch what she says, holding back emotion. The wrong choice of words could have serious consequences. Take your time.) (Serious/sincere/low) Don't step out of line for any reason. You have to be careful. Pay attention to the details.
