Introduction
Hello! I am TheTVBunny, starting up a comic dub of a Sonic fan comic called "Pieces of the Past."
"Pieces of the Past" is a series of comics following the events of the "good future," where Silver and Blaze found and freed Shadow from the stasis capsule G.U.N. sealed him in. (This is slightly edited from the actual description described by the creator.)
Requirements
I am very picky with who I choose for roles, and many voice actors I work with follow a set of requirements.
- Firstly, your voice should fit the part you want to play. There is a description for the character, which should be read before auditioning. This describes the nature and the voice I am looking for. Impressions of these characters are allowed but are not recommended. I will give out references in case, however.
- Second of all, you need to put forward a good performance. From your interpretation, I want to know whether the character is happy or distressed. I don't want a voice to sound one-note or monotone. This doesn't mean like a robot but keeping a singular emotion throughout a line. Give variety.
- Next, quality is essential. While an X.L.R. is preferred, a USB microphone can still be used. Anything below a USB, like a headset microphone or a built-in laptop microphone, will not be used.
- On top of that, please adjust your gain so that it is not clipping and have little to no background noise or static.
- Also, insulate/soundproof your recording space. This is not to have any room reverb seep into the audio you record. The cheap way to do this is to put a blanket over yourself and double it up depending on your room's echo. Suppose some seeps through; this is perfectly fine. I have my way around it.
- Lastly, please do not add any effects. Things like E.Q., limiter, normalization, and noise gate/reduction are exceptions to this rule. This is because I will be doing the audio editing/mixing myself.
Though, a few extra things will be needed to audition for the characters...
- First, I need you to record each take at least two or three times. Anything more than that should be done on shorter lines. The format can be in ABC ABC or AABBCC. I prefer the former.
- Secondly, please add your Discord username and tag so I can contact you.
- Lastly, state your age/age group. This project is 13 and over, preferably 15 and over, due to Discord's T.O.S. (Terms of Service).
Some notes to take into account as well...
- The rates set for the characters are not final and will be split among the parts of the series they are in.
- There are other roles that I have/will need to be filled in that are off-site.
- I will do live voice direction for the voice lines to ensure quality. If you are uncomfortable with that, this project is not for you.
- The rates for voice-over are as follows: The first ten lines you have are $50, and then $3 per line after that. I will count these when the episode you need to voice comes up.
- There are no transcriptions of the comic because the words are static on the page. I won't waste time getting lines to you when you can have the visuals there to help you.
