Project Overview

Claire de lune is an unannounced video game for PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. It is a fully-3D first person puzzle game set in a near-future science fiction universe. It is a "PG"-rated game with minimal violence and occasional profanity. There is no nudity, alcohol, or drug use. There are some comedic moments as well as serious themes.

Delivery
Please provide clean audio -- do not process it beyond simple EQ/Compression, etc. (no sound effects, reverb, music, and so forth). Please include:


  • - Your recording as an attachment or a downloadable link.


  • - An estimate of your rates (see compensation heading below)


  • - The name of the role for which you are auditioning



Job Notes
Your performance will be recorded remotely in a location of your choosing. No editing is required, entire raw files are expected that will be edited and processed by our staff. Important: Applicants must be available for additional short sessions to record pickups, or re-record certain lines as needed.

Compensation
All voice actors will be paid appropriately relative to the amount of work required. We will not accept volunteers. We have a medium indie budget for this game, and exact amounts are flexible for the right voice actor. We will agree on an amount in advance. We recognize there are a wide range of talents who may review this casting call, so please include an estimate of your rates with your audition, given the line counts provided.

John is the primary protagonist in the game. As the game is in first person view, John is never pictured. John is male, early 40s, a smuggler who has run into trouble with his (illegal) employer. He is trying to escape the world of organized crime with his teenage daughter Claire. North American English.

John has lost important people in his life, and has difficulty trusting others. He is pessimistic, hardened, and has a sarcastic sense of humour. Despite his rough exterior, he loves his daughter, is generally compassionate, and moral. As the main character in the game, with moments of comedy, mystery, and emotion, John is a crucially important character that requires a talented actor and a nuanced performance. John's script is roughly 300 lines.

  • Listen, I'm just here to find my daughter. We crash landed on this planet and someone brought her here. She was severely injured. Do you know where she is?

  • I can't reveal everything just yet. But, it's a good plan. It'll work. And when we get where we're going, I'll find a new job. A real job I mean.

  • God damn it. I never should have left her.  What the hell is going on here? What pulled us down?

Arturo

Arturo is the player's primary companion. He is a male-voiced artificial intelligence, housed inside the computer on a spaceship, and is never pictured. He assists the player (John) throughout the game.

Arturo is like a golden retriever puppy trapped inside a computer. He is unbelievably optimistic, genuine, yet immodest. He has an innocent sense of humour and would do anything for John and Claire. Arturo has some serious moments but generally provides comic relief.

As a key character in the game with several comedic moments, Arturo is an important character that requires a talented actor with superb comedic delivery. Arturo's script is roughly 250 lines.

  • NOOOOooooooooooooooo!Please John! You should have seen me! I was like a fiery beacon of life-saving glory!I promise to only use these godlike powers for good! I won't even kill a single human!Unless... you wanted me to?Actually hang on, why do I take orders from you again?

  • Hey like, you never know! It might be totally safe! That could just be like, how it looks, man.I know you, you see that giant spike, and you just assume, oh it's a killer plant.And probably all its life, it just wants some affection. Ever think of that?

  • Focus, John. We don't have a lot of time before someone notices.Grab that rifle on the ground and go get Claire.There's a docking bay on this floor. I'll fly the ship into the hangar and pick you up.

Claire is the titular character, female, 16, the daughter of the main character, John. She is separated from her father early in the storyline, and John is attempting to reunite with her throughout the game. She also appears in various flashbacks. North American English.

Claire has lost important people in her life, and enduring these hardships have made her exceptionally mature for her age. She is resilient, cheerful, and forgiving. As a key character for the game, she is an important secondary character that requires a talented actress that can convey a range of believable emotions. Claire's script is roughly 50 lines.

  • I think it's exciting. Our old place reminds me too much of mom anyways. You know me. I'll make new friends. I always do.

  • Yeah. Okay. Just sucks that I couldn't even say goodbye to anyone. Think I could even just... send a message?

  • What's the matter with you? Why didn't you think of us? Huh? Why not put us first? [long pause] Just leave me alone.

Doctor Roberts

Doctor Roberts is the primary villain. Doctor Roberts is a male, 40s, a medical researcher who has taken experiments on human subjects too far. North American, British, or other European-accented English.

Doctor Roberts has had a troubled and difficult life, but is unnaturally brilliant and through talent and hard work has become a successful medical doctor. He has received significant criticism for his theories and methodologies being too extreme, and he views himself as a victim. He is bitter, ambitious, and machiavellian. Well spoken, but somewhat unstable. He is however manipulative and persuasive. He has convinced a large group of followers to buy into his ideas. As the primary villain for the game, he is an important character that requires a talented actor capable of creating a unique, unsettling performance, without going overboard. Roberts' script is roughly 70 lines.

  • It wasn't an evacuation. They escaped. Ramirez set the whole thing up, but she had some help from the inside. I guess one of the doctors just can't see what we're trying to accomplish here.

  • Please, try to relax. We injected you with medical nanomatter.AI controlled nanites that repair your skin tissue at a molecular level.It's been a success, but you need another dose.

  • I healed every one of them. Well, every one that I could.We had a few losses early on but the medicine has come a long way.And for that, they throw me in a cell!Don't be one of those John, you're going to be here a long time.

The Researcher

The researcher is a secondary character. She is a female, 30s, a relatively young but brilliant medical researcher who has been severely injured by a medical experiment gone wrong. North American, British, or other European-accented English.

The researcher is a bright, talented doctor, who is heavily invested in the idea behind the dangerous medical experiments she is working on. Her pride and zeal blinded her to the experiment's flaws and only now that she's been severely injured, does she realize their danger. This has severely hurt her pride, and is now making a last ditch attempt to correct the situation before she dies from her injuries. She is intelligent, well spoken, once ambitious, prideful, and overconfident, but is now humbled, and eager to make amends for her mistakes. The researcher's script is roughly 30 lines.

  • It was a containment leak. Went straight through our suits.We've deactivated most of it, but it's still not safe out there. You need... you need to finish the job.

  • It's supposed to be medicine. AI controlled nanomatter that melds with organic tissue. Revolutionary.But... something went wrong. If you make contact with it... well... you've seen the bodies.

  • Good work. Now listen, that thing is going to move after you fast.You'll need to slow it down somehow... hey-- where did you find that nanogun? I thought ours had all been destroyed.

Facility Computer

The facility computer is a secondary character. She is a female-voiced artificial intelligence, who responds flatly to various interactions the player has with the computer system in a large research facility. The computer is never pictured directly. North American or British English.

The computer is a flat, monotone, emotionless voice, and involves a fair bit of technobabble. Her voice should be precise, clean, and polite. Your performance will be processed in post to sound more robotic. For the audition, accurate pronunciation is unimportant. The computer's script is roughly 40 lines.

  • Baryon sweep set to automatically engage if nanomatter particles are detected in the generator interior.

  • Access denied. Bio-suit not equipped with functioning shield modulator.

  • This unit is an Eltara brand model V assistance drone.
