What is PARCHED?

PARCHED is a passion project of mine which I plan on making into an animatic/animated series on YouTube. It's a violent comedy surrounding four girls who are leading a life of self-indulgence and hedonism. 

The story and the characters

Again, PARCHED surrounds four girls who want nothing but to follow their darkest fantasies. KAM seeks for blood. DAHLIA wants control. SKINNER desires to destroy shit. ZAFT is an adrenaline-junkie. They'll do anything to follow their direction in life. No matter how self-destructive it is.

* Accents are okay! I'm open to whatever accent you have for KAM or ZAFT but for SKINNER and DAHLIA, they're a bit more strict.

    I'm very happy to see a lot of interest in the project! I didn't think this would really have as many auditions as I thought it would (especially consider that it was a free job.) I'll finalise the cast in the next week and invite you to my discord server if you get the role! To those who I didn't cast, keep an eye out here! I'll still need extras/minor supporting characters and a major character that will appear later on <3 Again, thank you for auditioning! I'm excited to show you what's to come.

    More information about the characters are on my Instagram (@definitionoftired_) by the way. More information to come as well about them on there. Right now, I'm making posters to post on my IG and promote the project. I'll also be uploading more examples of the animatic style I'll use for PARCHED in the future when I get the time to animate. (P.S ZAFT's audition line is not a typo. It's 'inane' as in silly and not 'insane.')

  • Update on the Characterisation details!

    I had some feedback about the details of the character's voices so hopefully this irons out what I really aim for them. If you look at the "About," you'll see that I added that a little bit about accents. Accents are fine! Audition for whatever roles with whatever accent unless I've explicitly said that I specifically want one (DAHLIA and SKINNER.)

An energetic and emotional girl who has a bottomless bloodlust. She loves to be the centre of attention and is very childlike, especially when it comes to DAHLIA. While she is violent and chaotic, KAM is a smart, loving woman who aims to protect her lifestyle alongside her friends and will destroy anyone who tries to harm that. 

Her voice is orotund, high-pitched and childlike. When she speaks, it's almost playful. She's very emotive and changes her tone a lot as she speaks.

    Hey SKINNER, you got two fuckfaces on your six. Oh- waitwaitwait... That's just KEN and ZAFT (Giggling)

DAHLIA is a manipulative woman who likes to take control over every situation. Whether that's be emotionally manipulating them, taking away other's needs or acting on their sexual desires, she will get what she wants and rip at your soul at the end of it. When she doesn't have control, she loses her temper and seeks to blame everyone else but herself. 

Her voice is husky and honeyed as if she never means a single word she says. She's got a noticeable posh British accent which gives her this air of maturity.

  • [DAHLIA is restrained by a detective, however she seems to be smiling.]
    Detective, how about you inspect me yourself? (In a low voice) I assure you it'll be... educating.

  • Let's go. (Commanding) KAM, a bit more restraint this time? Please.

  • (Angered, scolding) Insolent fool! You could've gotten us killed! Do you know how lucky we are to get out of there with every fucking limb!?

SKINNER is a vulgar girl who swear every other sentence she speaks. She doesn't stick to modern etiquette and is generally quite rude. Despite that, she's kind and loving to her friends and many times her rude names are just terms of endearment. She's a huge romantic and finds joy in the fireworks of love and romance. 

She's got a sweet voice for all the shit she spews. Her voice is quite deep and guttural usually but when she's excited, there's a noticeable pitch difference. Similar to KAM, she's very emotive. She has a noticeable Southern accent.

  • Y'know there are more rich fucks in here than a VIP strip club. Pretty intimidating, no? I'll get us some drinks.

ZAFT is argumentative and stubborn, assuming that she should have the higher authority more than DAHLIA. She's vain and presumes herself to be much better and more skilled than anybody else in the room and if someone challenges that then ZAFT is immediately jealous. However, ZAFT is like KAM and is very protective of the girls no matter how much she doesn't understand them. 

ZAFT has a deep monotone voice that doesn't change even when she speaks highly of herself. It constantly sounds like she's being sarcastic. Her voice is pretty gruff, rough sounding like she's constantly angry at someone.

  • (Scoffing) I still don't get why you guys listen to her. Sometimes her plans are just... plain inane.

  • Excuse me? I don't think you have any authority trying to educate a person like me (Laughing, scoffing) who has been trained for most of life using a rifle. (Lower voice) Try again.

KEN is a long time friend of DAHLIA's and one of her first partners in crime when she did crime with several different groups at once. Since then he has moved away from crime and has got a wife and a kid on the way. He still drinks with DAHLIA but tries to persuade her (and KAM) to move away from the crime life and settle down before it's too late. 

He's got a gruff, hoarse voice. KEN speaks in low tones, never really raising his voice unless he's got to tell off someone (namely, DAHLIA.) His voice is calming and modulated, making it pleasant to listen to when he has his late night conversations with DAHLIA.

  • (Hesitant) KAM, right? You're DAHLIA's... thing or whatever. I figured as much. You seem like it. 

  • Look, there's two ways you can go right now. You can either give yourself up or I do it for you. Your choice.

WINTERS is a hardworking man who was assigned to catch the girls. However, with no witnesses and no leads, he struggles to get them and loses more and more as he chases them. He's a good man and works hard for what he believes in but this case is one of the toughest he's had to work on.

Detective Winters is a kind man, clueless, emotional and clumsy but you can see he's trying his hardest. He speaks clearly and loudly however because of how unsure and clumsy he is about his words, his authority is often undermined. Even when he's sure of something, it comes off funnily.
