One of my favorite video games of all time is Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door. So as you can imagine, I was hyped as hell when the remake for the Switch was announced.
Therefore, I thought it'd be an incredibly fun project to do a fully dubbed playthrough of the game and post it on Youtube! I know it's a massive task to take on, but as someone who has been cast in countless fan projects only to be disappointed when the project ends up cancelled, I am determined to get as far as we can with this project. As of now, we are a good chunk of the way through Chapter 2, so we're officially beginning our casting for Chapter 3!
I am ideally looking for actors with as good microphone quality as possible. I'm not picky enough to nitpick and insist on absolutely PERFECT mic quality, but I'm hoping for at the very least close to no background noise and minimal peaking.
My priority is having fitting voices for the character, so actors can be cast for more than one role (although I will, of course, try to be fair and not have one actor hog TOO many roles).
I'm taking a few roles here and there (mostly minor roles, like tutorial narration and some minor NPCs), but for the most part I want to keep my distance and leave most of the roles to the casted actors (Because let's be real, if I wanted to just voice the characters myself I'd just do a solo voiced playthrough).
Once we reach the deadline, I'll start making my casting decisions. I'll message the casted actors and invite them to our Discord server (if they're uncomfortable with it, I won't make it mandatory).

Hey folks, little update! I've updated every character voice description with a reference voice that I think matches what I'm looking for! There'll be a Youtube link added for every named role!
For anyone who's already auditioned, if you feel like you'd like to give it another try with the new information, you're free to make another submission! I'll keep both of your submissions into consideration regardless, so no need to worry!
Little update, we're now also looking for video editors! We have one already, but we could use a couple more to help us out. If you know anybody who might be interested, please let them know about this project!
We currently have a video editor already (AndySnoopy), but I'd like to ideally have maybe 2-3 editors so we can lessen the burden on him and potentially speed up the rate we can upload our videos. If you're interested in this position, we'd prefer if you could make a long-term commitment (just until this project reaches its conclusion and we finish covering the whole game) so we don't have to frequently be looking for new editors.
I'm hoping it won't be TOO hard to satisfy my editing expectations, as we don't do anything super flashy for these videos. However, I am a little bit nitpicky about imperfections, so I would hope any errors in editing work would be minimal and easily fixable. I would probably expect one 15-25 minute part to be completed within around 2-3 weeks, although I am fully open to work around conflicts and wait a little longer if necessary. I DO want to try to get these parts out asap though, so I'd hope they could be done on whatever schedule we end up agreeing on.

Ishnail is the leader of the Robbo Thieves, and the rival to Don Pianta. He rules over the shady and unkempt eastern side of Rogueport. He hates Don Pianta, but he's also greedy and fully willing to give you information on the Don in exchange for money.
Ishnail should sound like a shady criminal. He should sound suave and sneaky. I could see a New York accent of some form making sense here.

Don Pianta (also known as the 'Don of Untimely Death') is the head of the Pianta Syndicate that rules over the west side of Rogueport. He's a powerful mob boss known for his ruthlessness. However, he has a soft side for his daughter, Francesca.
Don Pianta should have your typical Italian American mobster accent. He should sound calm, but menacing and tough. A bit of a gravelly voice would probably be fitting. The instinct is probably going to be to go for a Godfather type of voice, but I'd prefer something a little more gruff and deep.

Francesca is the beloved daughter of Don Pianta, and the to-be wife of Frankie. She is a romantic, and is willing to run away from home to be with her one true love, despite her father's disapproval. She is sweet and very lovey-dovey when it comes to Frankie, but she also inherited a bit of her father's personality, being bossy and steadfast in what she wants.
Francesca comes from a mafia family, so she should have the same Italian American mob kind of accent. She should sound confident and perhaps a bit like a spoiled daddy's girl. I imagine her voice to be higher-pitched, but I wouldn't mind giving a slightly deeper take a chance if you want to try it.

Frankie is the second-in-command of the Pianta Syndicate, and the to-be husband of the Don's daughter, Francesca. For a mobster, he's very passive. He is very loyal to the Don, and he also tends to go along with whatever Francesca wants.
Frankie should have the typical Italian American mobster accent. He's very young and inexperienced in comparison to the Don, so he should sound notably younger and more medium in pitch.

Mr. Hoggle is a pig character who runs the hot dog stand in Glitzville. He's business-minded and looks for ways to spice up his food to increase his sales.
For Mr. Hoggle, I imagine his voice to sound a little older, probably around the 40s to 50s range. He should be boisterous and loud, like a street vendor loudly advertising his goods. A New York accent of some sort could fit, although I'm not dead set on that.

Goldbob is a golden Bob-omb, and the father of Bub. He's also the president of a corporation called Goldbobbington's. He's your standard rich, proud, show-offy businessman.
For Goldbob, I'm looking for a deeper voice that can convey 'rich, posh billionaire'. I wouldn't mind hearing a posh British accent, but I think a posh American accent of some sort would be more fitting.

(slightly impressed, intrigued) Why, if it isn't Gonzales! I enjoyed your fight earlier! Yes, you thrashed that lout! I don't think you're quite Rawk Hawk caliber, but you have potential! Keep at it!

Sylvia is a silver Bob-omb lady, and the wife of Goldbob. She is the stereotypical 'wife of a millionaire' character. She looks down on what she considers 'barbaric' like the fights at the Glitz Pit, though she considers allowing her son, Bub, to learn how to fight for self-defense. She's very concerned with Bub's future and pushes him to study hard.
Sylvia's voice should be that of a posh, high-society lady. I wouldn't mind hearing a posh British accent, but like Goldbob, I feel a posh American accent of some sort would fit better.

Bub is a young, bronze-colored Bob-omb, and the only son of Goldbob and Sylvia. Unlike his parents, he is not very concerned with his wealth and status (although he is still very spoiled). He's obsessed with trains and dreams of becoming a train engineer.
Bub should sound like a young boy, probably around 7-10 years old. He should sound innocent and not as conceited as his rich parents, though he should still sound at least a little bit like a spoiled kid that gets what he wants most of the time.

Toodles is a rich Toad lady. She dresses very luxuriously and is very flirtatious towards Mario once he becomes a successful fighter in the Glitz Pit (likely implying that she is a bit of a gold digger).
Toodles should have a deeper, somewhat sultry voice. She should sound a little dismissive when she's not interested in someone, and noticeably more flirty when she IS interested.

Rawk Hawk is a buff hawk creature, and the reigning champion of the Glitz Pit. He's very much a typical wrestling heel. He is confident, cocky, and aggressively show-offy. He looks down on Mario, but when Mario starts to get close to taking his title, he resorts to cheating in an attempt to maintain his champion status.
Rawk Hawk should sound deep-voiced, exuberant, manly, cocky, and aggressive. Doing a Hulk Hogan or Stone Cold Steve Austin kind of voice would probably fit pretty well.

Grubba is a Spike and the manager/promoter in charge of the Glitz Pit. He is boisterous and excitable, and is always looking for ways to shine light on fighters that he thinks have potential. He is a former fighter himself, and yearns for his strength in the old days. This desire consumes him, and he begins draining the power out of fighters who step out of line, all to make himself feel younger and stronger,
Grubba should sound boisterous, rowdy, and energetic. He should have the energy and excitement of a showman, and someone who's looking for the next big thing in wrestling. Grubba should have absolutely have a deep southern accent, that is non-negotiable for me. Bonus points for how energetic and long you can make the "Hoooooo-WEEEEEE!"

Jolene is the serious, no-nonsense Toad assistant to Grubba at the Glitz Pit. She remains very professional and formal most of the time. She is often found attractive by people at the Glitz Pit, which she responds to coldly and with no interest. She can come off as a little shady in some of her actions, but it's actually all for the sake of reuniting with her beloved younger brother.
Jolene's voice should be very monotone and serious. It should also be able to sound more emotional while still sounding like the same person.

(emotional, upset, demanding) I want answers, right NOW! What did you do with my precious little brother? You know exactly what I'm talking about! The first champion— PRINCE MUSH!
King K is a Koopa and the leader of the KP Koopas, a fighting team at the Glitz Pit. He's a friendly face who immediately builds camaraderie with Mario. He hypes Mario up, offers advice, and is just in general a nice guy.
The simplest way I can describe what I'm looking for in King K's voice is 'tough gangster with a heart of gold'. He should sound cool, suave, and tough, but also be casual and friendly. Bonus points if you can fulfill that description AND keep the same kind of vocal quality that the other Koopas in our dub have.

(melancholic, trying to put on a happy face) Listen, man... Keep it under your hat, but I'm thinkin' about retiring soon. If I stay any longer... well, my future might get shorter, y'know? So, after the next match, I'm gone. It ain't cool to quit and run, that's for sure, but you know what? That's life, Double-G-man. Listen... You stay cool, OK? Promise me you won't forget you once knew King K!
The Iron Adonis Twins are two twin brother Iron Clefts who serve as the barrier between the minor league and major league of the Glitz Pit fighters. They are brutish, unintelligent, and cocky. They're the typical big tough guys who rely heavily on brawn over brains.
The twins should have very gravelly, deep voices. The way they speak should sound rough and unintelligent. I wouldn't be opposed to trying out a slight 'caveman speak' kind of direction for their voices. We'll likely cast one voice actor to play both of the twins, unless we find two submissions that we think would work well together.

The Yoshi kid is a baby Yoshi that Mario saves as an egg from being cooked, who thereupon hatches and joins his party. He's very scrappy and fiery, and has a somewhat rude and inconsiderate way of speaking at times. He IS however, a newborn Yoshi, and often acts like an impatient, reckless child.
The Yoshi kid should sound very young, and therefore very high-pitched. He should have a somewhat childish tone of voice. I imagine his voice to be raspy, but I'm not dead set on that, so feel free to try out other interpretations!

The Koopinator is a Koopatrol, and the highest ranked fighter in the Glitz Pit other than the champion, Rawk Hawk. He is stoic, serious, and menacing.
The Koopinator should have a very deep voice. He should sound menacing, dark, and serious.

Prince Mush is a Toad, and the younger brother of Jolene. He is the former champion of the Glitz Pit, who went missing after having his power absorbed by Grubba. He is passionate about fighting, but unlike Rawk Hawk, he is a very honest champion who fights clean with no cheating.
Mush should sound young and passionate. I would describe what I'm looking for as being somewhat like your standard anime protagonist. Bonus points if you can give him a tiny bit of the raspiness of a Toad voice without making the character's voice too comical.

I'll give everyone in our NPC ensemble a short deadline to submit, then I'll make my decisions on who I want to have voicing which type of NPC. If you are chosen for an NPC, you will voice all of the NPCs in the game with that exact sprite (and potentially more, depending on what NPC type; ex: If you're chosen to voice the Koopa Troopas in Petalburg, you may also be asked to voice the enemy type Koopa Troopas when they have lines).
For this audition, please show off your vocal range. Try to change your voice to fit as many different character types as possible (it doesn't necessarily have to fit the audition lines perfectly). If you want, you can repeat the audition lines as much as you'd like to show off your range, but just try to keep the audio file under 3 minutes.
(impatient, desperate to get a scoop) Move to one side, small fry! The only thing my camera shoots is famous athletes.
