Our Park
Project Overview
Disclaimer: This is a long-term project; if you cannot commit to being on Our Parks staff for however long it lasts, please specify that in your application. Also, roles will be contacted and assigned towards the end of the deadline.
Our Park is an animated web series inspired by South Park, in the style of South Park.
Instead of using the characters of South Park, every character is original and made by a different person. That's why it's OUR Park!
Payment Info: We are aware the payments are quite low-- this is completely a passion project, so truthfully we cannot offer much. Your contribution is greatly appreciated. Make sure to read the info for whatever role you apply for, as none of the roles are flat rates; payments shown are just for example.
Requirements:
Voice Actors
- Please have good microphone quality. Try your best to eliminate background noise, reverb, etc.
- The characters are young, but a 9-year-old auditioning might be too authentic. 14+.
- You do not have to use Audacity, it's just the program we're most familiar with.
Artists
- Must be able to submit high-resolution and clean work. Shaky linework really isn't what we're going for.
South Park fan or not, thank you for taking the time to learn and consider this project of ours. https://ourpark.carrd.co/

Edit: Voice actor must be black.
"Maia Overbeck is a 9yr old who moved from NYC to West Elk. She is quite wealthy as she is spoiled, and a horrible little girl. But don’t be tricked by her smile, she could ruin your life in about..3 business days. Give her time, she's only 9, right?"
Mai's voice is bratty and confident; easily recognizable as the mean popular girl who'd bully you in elementary school. Don't be scared to throw in some light vocal fry or accent.

Voice work is $1 per line. In this case, $22 is used because Mai has 22 lines in the first episode.

The guy on club penguin told me all about it! If you just set up a bomb riiiight here, and blow up this wall during recess, a portal to another dimension will open!
Dude! I am not becoming a maid! Those are the types of people I underpay in my own home!
(snickering) This is gonna be fucking hilarious.
"Drew is a 9-year-old 4th grader. Drew is generally complacent and tender. Often going along with situations, but not without expressing his feelings about them. He’s a Buddhist; as are his parents. He’s not as into the religion as them, but he does meditate, refrain from certain foods, draw upon karma, etc. Besides that, he’s motivated and friendly enough to get along with most people. He likes sports and animals. His favorite sport is hockey, but he’s proficient in most of them."
Drew's voice is pointed, but otherwise surprisingly zen when he's anything other than pissed off. He's often terribly tired. His mother is Malaysian, so a slight accent is encouraged if you're up for the challenge.

Voice work is $1 per line. In this case, $20 is used because Drew has 20 lines in the first episode.

we-We don’t have that kind of money! I don't even know how to get that kind of money!
We've tried car washes, door-to-door, landscaping, pyramid schemes, drug dealing, therapy, heavy machine operation, and sales. What else is there??
W-We! We can get you your sex life back! If you– don’t kill us!!
"Lucas is a 9-year-old 4th grader. Lucas is an easy-going, and overall chill friend. He’s a bit of a pushover, being always willing to go on wacky adventures with his friends, though sometimes he tends to make jokes at the wrong time, causing some people to wonder what’s the limit of his humor. Despite his bold humor, he gets embarrassed quite easily."
Lucas' voice is laid-back and joking, but tends to get shrill when the situation becomes dire.
Reference for direction, if you'd like it: https://youtu.be/Z22Nq4bTgns (but a bit younger)
Voice work is $1 per line. In this case, $9 is used because Lucas has 9 lines in the first episode.

PLEASE!! I HAVE A HUS- WIFE AND KIDS!!
Alright! By the end of this week, we’ll have $4000 plus some! Are we ready?!
(clearly trying to steer the conversation away) Well! n-Now that we know you can’t extract love, we just have to help you and your wife feel it yourselves!
"M is a 9-year-old 4th grader. M has a bright and friendly personality and is also quick-witted and intelligent. Despite her intelligence and outgoing nature, M is a deeply emotional person who often lets her feelings get the best of her. Her intellect is evident in her ability to quickly process information and identify patterns, but she can also be impulsive and let her emotions guide her decisions. She is not afraid to speak her mind and can come across as blunt or harsh, but her passions run deep and she can get emotionally invested in her endeavors."
M's voice is almost always laced heavily with emotion; it's very easy to tell exactly how she's feeling just from her tone of voice.
Voice work is $1 per line. In this case, $17 is used because M has 17 lines in the first episode.

God, what happened? My back hurts like hell.
Okay, but, like, love is like a feeling. Inside the brain. It’s not a… thing.
So we’ll have to do this the old-fashioned way, then. Goddamnit. This is all your fault, Mai! (pronounced "my)
This alien is in a predicament: he can't make love to his wife! His charm seems to have faded away; if he doesn't change something soon, his species is soon to extinct!
Reasonable solution? Kidnap humans and harvest their "love".
The Head Alien is tall, intimidating, and stoic; a voice that reverberates throughout the whole room. Of course, when the motivations behind his actions are revealed, this facade more or less shatters.
Voice actors are paid $1 per line. $32 is listed here because, in the first episode, the Head Alien has 32 lines.

No, we do not inflict pain of the psychological type upon the experiments.
I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life reproducing with you, my beloved.
But it is clear now I would have been wrong, in such a circumstance. I will return you, along with those of your town. You have served a purpose greater than you could have ever achieved otherwise.
Background art will typically be the basic 1080x720 size, possibly wider, and more often than not needed in different resolutions. Since this is still the South Park style, more or less, backgrounds should consist of mostly lineness work and simple shapes.
Background art is paid per background, depending on complexity.

Storyboards need not be too detailed. In fact, simple, quick doodles are encouraged. Scenes and shots will almost never be complex. With that in mind, we do still encourage creativity when interpreting the script, since it gives the animators more leeway to make adjustments with the limited style.
Storyboard Artists are paid $5 per minute of storyboarding. (One page in a script is a minute. If you storyboard a full page, that is $5.)

Typically, when sprites are submitted, they are made either messily or with an online character creator. This role fulfills the purpose of converting these character sprites into the specific style Our Park is drawn in. You will need to match styles and submit characters as parts (for easier tweening).
- The style you will be matching can be seen in the Voice Actor profile pictures. Feel free to contact me for more examples if you want a better sense of the style before submitting.
Sprite Creators are paid per sprite, depending on its complexity.

Animators will convert the script and storyboard into scenes of animation. Since this is in the South Park style, little to no drawing will be required. You will be using pre-made assets and drawings to create animation.
Adobe Animate is preferred. If this is unrealistic for you, you are welcome to use other programs, as long as it matches the quality of the rest of the show.
Animators are paid per minute of animation.
