Odyssey of the Dragonborn Act 1 Universal Voice Types Casting Call Round 2
Project Overview
What Is Odyssey Of The Dragonborn?
Odyssey Of The Dragonborn is a multi-part mod series for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which is a continuation of the story laid down in Legacy of the Dragonborn, a Skyrim DLC Sized Quest Mod which put the Dragonborn on a path to reforge the covenant with Akatosh and re-form the Amulet Of Kings.
Odyssey Of The Dragonborn will continue this epic storyline of prophecy and destiny by taking the player to various far-off locales across Tamriel in search of their ultimate destiny of seeing the wheel come full circle as the prophecy indicates. You will also find out the Thalmor’s ultimate goal is not only to take over the world but also to destroy it in order to attain their lost immortality. A plot is uncovered through the course of Odyssey’s acts which leads the player into a race to achieve goals and fight off the Thalmor.
This casting call is only casting for a selection of Universal Voice Types and their respective associated characters that will debut in Act 1 and most likely reappear in later Acts as well. The particular selection for this round of casting covers the accented Mer class of Universal Voice Types which covers Altmer, Dunmer, and a specific Imperial. It is worth noting that these voice types will either have a or a blend of Queen's English, Common English, Soft Cockney Accent, or Cockney accent.
It is worth noting that at the same time we are extending the Odyssey of the Dragonborn UVT Round 1 Casting Call to last another week so that we can cast the last 4 Common UVTs we didn't cast last time. The deadline for that casting call has already been updated. You can audition for that one here: https://www.castingcall.club/projects/odyssey-of-the-dragonborn-act-1-universal-voice-types-casting-call-round-1
Additional rounds of casting for other/remaining Act 1 UVTs will be done 3 weeks after this casting call has concluded; by doing so, the audio team is able to concentrate on each round's cast UVT VAs before accommodating the subsequent round's cast UVT VAs. In addition, our audio team lacks the resources to work on all Act 1 UVTs at the same time, further showing the need to cast Act 1 UVTs in batches.
For those confused about what voicing a Universal Voice Type means, here's an explanation:
In a nutshell, a UVT Voice actor records the foundational interaction dialogue used by EVERY NPC which utilizes that voice type as well as additional lines for specific NPCs using that voice type which address the character's personal situational topics as well as quest dialogue they may have. So in effect, your role as "OD1_MaleCommon" will have dozens of additional role-related lines for 8 or 10 characters or more as well as numerous quests that are associated with those characters in addition to generic greeting commentary. So you can see that a "generic supporting character" is actually a LOT more work and covers much more diverse territory than central characters even do in most cases. This is essentially how vanilla handles voice acting (ex: Balgruuf's voice is commonly everywhere).
We’d also like to mention that we do hope to reuse UVT voicework in subsequent acts as a Generic Male Altmer for example is sure to reappear later on. If you are cast for one of the UVTs, you have a good chance of reappearing in subsequent acts and will have helped us for several releases. There will also be new UVTs debuting in subsequent Acts. These added UVTs will account for the shift to different province areas after Act 1. However, before these new UVTs are put up for casting, we will first look into pre-casting the new Central Characters that will appear in that corresponding and subsequent Act.
It is worth noting though that certain UVTs debuting in Act 1 will have a small number of new lines to voice when development for later Acts begins; this will be more so explained in the "Requirements and Instructions for Auditioning Voice Actors" Part of this casting call's "About Project" Section.
One VA would essentially be voicing multiple characters that cover a large area of the map in the mod. For those worried that this would mean very low vocal variety in the mod, worry not, as our writers have not only made sure characters with the same voice type rarely interact with each other, especially in planned out quest interactions, but also have prepared a wide variety of UVTs, far more than vanilla Skyrim offered, to be present throughout the mod.
As some viewing this casting call may know, we have already finished casting for Central Characters debuting in Act 1 in a previous public casting call. Additionally, we are currently still casting a few Common UVTs that weren't cast last round like Female Common Snide. There will be separate casting calls for Central Characters and Universal Voice Types (EG: Old Nord Generic Male) who debut in later Acts.
We are currently looking for 18 years of age or older voice actresses and actors with at least an XLR mic, a decent amount of experience, some form of reliable sound insulation, the willingness to learn how to use Trello if not already aware how to do so, the ability to work off of a spreadsheet, the willingness to work based on deadlines, be open to communicate, and the ability to do basic audio processing.
We request that all VAs who are interested are also able to communicate and send/receive files through Discord servers and DMs. Audio files would be uploaded to GDrive folders as they probably would be too big to send directly over Discord but the shareable links of said folders would usually be sent through Discord DMs.
If you do request to communicate with us through Email or other communication software, please send a private message to my profile on Casting Call Club and explain your situation. I will work with you via CCC Private Messaging to find a solution.
Certain UVTs will have small amounts of new dialogue upon reappearing in subsequent acts due to new events happening within said acts. Certain Acts have their main plot points and information created but more detailed aspects like dialogue are in flux like in a series. This prevents us from being able to give all the dialogue a UVT would need to record across all acts in one go during Act 1 development. We would like to reassure VAs looking into UVTs that the majority of your dialogue will be recorded during the VA production phase of Odyssey of the Dragonborn Act 1 with only minor additions happening later that also won’t result in redoing past voice work or present strange shifts in the personality of characters.
As the writing additions in later Acts would only be minor and UVTs don’t cover NPCs that are crucial to the overarching plot of Odyssey, we are open to look into recasting if that becomes a necessity during the production of a later Act. That being said, we’d rather not redo work and implore VAs considering to audition for a UVT in Act 1 to also be open to being in touch for intermittent additional voice work over the course of the next 3-4 years.
For a further explanation behind the reasoning of the above paragraph and a general explanation of our project's casting process, please consult the following document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Uld9_KWc7CMD_Vg69hnthXbpHP-W2e0RNKK10fg9sdk/edit?usp=sharing
We realize this is much to ask of non-paid work, but we find that to wait until writing for all acts is done and then to engage in voice casting would be inefficient and not quite what we are comfortable with doing as a mod development team. Joining our mod project will be very much like working on a series where there’s clarity regarding what’s present for the first season (in our case that’s Act 1), but further Acts are somewhat in a state of flux.
Do note that you should ideally play Skyrim, Oblivion, and/or Morrowind in order to get a feel for the accent of each Skyrim race’s voice, as we won’t be providing a detailed explanation of the accent of each Skyrim race. Depending on the Elder Scrolls race of the role, we may expect a certain accent. For example, High Elves generally have an upper-class and snobbish Queen's English accent.
Some of the proper nouns and references that may pop up in the audition lines may require knowledge of the lore, characters, and stories of The Elder Scrolls universe in general, Skyrim, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Legacy of the Dragonborn. Pronunciation of these proper nouns and references can be found in an audio file that will be linked in the listings for the characters it applies to. You can attain this knowledge through either playing these games and/or mods and/or be reading over material on https://www.imperial-library.info/, watch lore videos such as those from ShoddyCast (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7pGJQV-jlzCPBUy9uAXQUXZ4UBaDLKS5) or the Skyrim Wiki (http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Skyrim).
Here are some resources regarding accents in Skyrim:
Nord: https://youtu.be/Tevzv7QsF7g?t=7
Imperial and Breton: https://youtu.be/gSq5o-FI5vY
(The first few Imperial soldier lines in the video should give you a good feeling of how Imperials and Bretons sound.)
Redguard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Pm0iTU2p3E
(A more Arabic sounding interpretation of how Redguards should sound like.)
Dunmer/Dark Elf: https://youtu.be/nCwNxz4IkU0?t=41 OR the Cockney Accent OR a blend between Common English and Soft Cockney Accent.
Bosmer/Wood Elf: https://youtu.be/KwI8S1W3jSE?t=71
Altmer/High Elf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80mGPSRA9N0 (Generally speaking, a Queen's English Accent will do for Altmer. Other times a Common English Accent will be warranted or a Common English Accent just slightly turning into a Queen's English Accent.)

Orc: https://youtu.be/idkDj_MJLPA?t=2
Argonian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4jW6SZt9C4 or https://youtu.be/hBIGrJGMc0k?t=205 for the Morrowind Style Argonian.
We also may recruit voice actors to voice other organisms such as Dragons and Daedra in the future. In only these instances, further details regarding the general sound of the voice of each organism as well as any required post-processing effects to be included in the audition will be provided on a case by case basis.

Please do read all the information provided for each character before auditioning. Aside from the basic information regarding the character, the character bio, audition lines, and direction notes, you will find the number of characters the particular universal voicetype covers, specified as a tag next to the name of the voicetype.
For each universal voicetype, we have provided links to the Trello cards of the named characters covered by said voice type. Some of the character profile images are WIP or not included. The existing character profile images are just there to provide you with a basic reference for your audition. A general character archetype has been provided for each voice type for auditioning purposes but the individual character bios on the Trello cards gives you a better idea of the content you are auditioning for. Please do not try to capture every character bio for a voicetype in your audition. Instead, use the general character archetype and the direction notes for each audition line as direction for your audition.
You should record all 3 audition lines included for each character. For character listings that have less than 3 lines, you should record for every single audition line provided. For each audition line, you should submit 1 take. Be sure to follow the scene context and line instructions provided for the audition line. You should be recording through an audio recording software like Audacity or Adobe Audition. You should export and submit your audition as a .mp3 file (anywhere from 192 - 320 kbps). You do not need to limit yourself in the number of characters you audition for. In some cases, we go ahead and cast a voice actor for two or more roles if they're good enough.
Please do not apply filters or noticeable effects to your audition unless the character specifically specifies to do so. The post-processing you need to do to your audition audio for the majority of characters posted will be a removal of room tone/static, mouse clicks, and audio/vowel volume peaking. Any voice actors that fail to do so noticeably will not be reviewed for their performance and be required to resubmit.
Once the casting deadline has been reached, we will no longer be accepting additional auditions and begin the audition review process. After a few days, myself (ACTIONFIGHTER11) (VA Director), Raven (Audio Engineer/Quality Lead), and Icecreamassassin (Project Lead), will make casting decisions for the mentioned selection of Act 1 UVTs. CCC will automatically send you a message if you get cast. Additionally, I will send a private message to your CCC profile containing information on how to join a discord server where voice acting for the Odyssey of the Dragonborn is managed. Please reply within a week of receiving that message or we may need to look into opening up the role once more due to no contact.
On Discord, you will be communicating with me (@ACTIONFIGHTER11#2791), VA Director of the project, via DMs or the Odyssey of the Dragonborn’s VA Discord Server's public chat. Once we have established communication on Discord, you will receive your lines and access to the team's Trello board within a week through discord along with recording instructions, deadline, accent specifications, character bios, and line directions. I will be present to assist with any further direction or inquiries. We will generally be aiming to record the first pass (an average of 500 or so voice lines per UVT) within 3 weeks' time from establishing contact on Discord.
For those that audition and don’t make the cut, don’t lose heart as there are the other casting rounds for Act 1 Universal Voice Types around the corner, the Add On Unique Voice Type Casting Call, as well as, further down the line, casting calls for more central characters and Universal Voice Types of later Acts.
Best of luck! I look forward to hearing your great auditions!

Record all audition lines while referring to the notes below for each line and do one take of each line.
For the first audition line, you have come across a traveler in your town. You pleasantly give them a brief overview.
For the second audition line, your city has been destroyed and you've lost family, friends, and your possessions. The first, second, and fourth sentences are delivered with sadness. The third sentence is yelled out in anger and frustration. Please ensure a smooth transition between the expressions of sadness and anger.
For the third audition line, you're angrily scolding a subordinate who made a stupid mistake and ended up losing their delivery to pirates. It should be yelled out in anger.
Oh, well welcome to town. If you want a soft bed and a good meal, you should try the Dawntower Inn; a bit spendy but well worth it once in awhile if you ask me.
I just don't know how I can go on from this… One moment here, then the next, gone… Divines why do you despise us so! How... could… you...
I've told you before and I am not going to tell you again. You come back here empty-handed and we're through! It's your stupidity that lost the shipment, to begin with, so just fix it!

Record all audition lines while referring to the notes below for each line and do one take of each line.
For the first audition line, you have come across a traveler in your town. You give them a brief overview in a straightforward and to-the-point manner.
