Nocturne Garden is an Alien Stage OC fan project! It has its own story continuing after the events of the canon ALNST post timeskip.
It has been over a decade since the 50th season stage incident. Surely, the Segyein have gotten over the tragedy, right? Wrong.
Opinions vary widely. Humans are now perceived as violent and dangerous creatures, necessitating their confinement under controlled conditions and stricter regulations. The very concept of owning a human pet is now heavily frowned upon in Segyein society, but for the rich and influential, it’s an advantage. The closure of the Anakt garden resulted in the rapid displacement of numerous human pets. Consequently, underground markets and auction houses became loaded with "rare specimens". This presented numerous opportunities for influential Segyein to hone new talents and capitalize on them. After all, who would dare to tell them to stop? They held some of the highest positions in society.
This resulted in the creation of Nocturne Garden, a project created with the intention of bringing back the once-loved "Alien Stage" and gaining a profit from it. Many were skeptical of this proposition and the concept of human pets being used once more. But of course, nobody was going to question the choices of the wealthy and influential. They proceeded to create numerous facilities that mimicked the original "Anakt Garden“.. just less glamorous, of course. Most of these facilities were funded by the Segyein involved in the project, and they’d obviously provide the bare minimum rather than putting a dent in their pockets. It isn’t much, but just enough to keep things running smoothly as planned. More of the budget was spent on bribery, some law enforcements were sent "hush money" to stay silent about the hidden facilities and even protect them from outsiders.
The Segyeins involved would use their own human pets as test subjects for the project. Years of training and character building had gone into developing perfect idols. Perfect performers for the new generation’s "Alien Stage".
ABOUT THE FACILITY:
Nocturne Garden is a facility created to mimic the "Anakt Garden". Before all of the contestants made their debut on stage, they participated in classes held by the facility staff. Contestants spend most of their time within the Garden, attending lessons, practicing individually or with their assigned partners, and participating in evaluations. Their schedules and living conditions are determined by the facility, with higher ranked contestants often receiving preferential treatment compared to those of lower ranks.
ABOUT THE STAFF:
Despite Nocturne Garden being a facility that is centered around the development of human idols, it remains under the firm control of the Segyein. Segyein staff occupy the highest positions within the facility, overseeing administration, contestant training, medical care, sponsorships, and the overall development of the Nocturne project. Human staff, meanwhile, are primarily employed in positions involving security, maintenance, and other tasks that require direct interaction with the contestants. Human guards are recruited under various circumstances, often being offered something they desperately need in exchange for their cooperation, such as financial stability, improved living conditions, protection, or the promise of a better future. Although guards are given authority over the contestants, they remain beneath the Segyein in the facility's hierarchy and are expected to follow their orders without question. Human guards are monitored much more closely to avoid risking conspiracy, just like the contestants.
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCES:
Human pets are paired up based on their rankings and skill sets. However, these rankings can change significantly as the competition progresses. The audience members hold complete control over the rankings of contestants based on their votes in the first and second selections through rounds. The primary objective of Nocturne Garden is not to ensure the survival of the most favored contestants, but rather to provide pure entertainment. The audience’s enjoyment is the sole focus of this performance. In essence, the ranking system was created to motivate contestants to become more competitive and perceive one another as rivals rather than turning and conspiring against the Segyein.
ELIMINATION:
Losing a round is not the only way a contestant can be eliminated from the competition. A contestant may be eliminated by the following…
By voluntarily withdrawing. (ex. a contestant might believe that saying they want to quit means they get to leave unharmed.. however, the rules make it clear that withdrawing from Nocturne is considered voluntary elimination.)
By failing to meet the standards established through Nocturne Garden. Since Nocturne exists for entertainment, the organizers don't necessarily care about fairness. If a contestant stops being profitable, interesting, or entertaining, they will be eliminated. (ex. consistently failing evaluations, refusing training, or becoming incapable of performing could cause the staff to declare them unfit for the competition, basically, this is like the contestant not making it out of the garden stage and into the first selection.)
Attempting to conspire against authority. (ex. planning an escape, plotting against the Segyein, attempting to expose Nocturne for what it is, helping someone flee the competition, sabotaging the performances as a group or deliberately undermining the facility.)
Elimination regardless of the circumstances always leads to death, there are no exceptions. A contestant who has been eliminated will never return to the facility nor a normal life. (Unless they manage to escape without a trace left behind, the rebellion members who were previously contestants are a good example of this. Or contestants who have been rescued by rebellion members disguised as guards.)
