Captain Blue [Male/American]
Lieutenant Green [Female/American]
A fan-written and produced audio drama based on the British television series by Gerry Anderson.
If an ideal candidate is found for a role, I reserve the right to close a role before the advertised deadline.
This is a fan-written and produced episode for New Captain Scarlet, a British television series created by the legendary producer Gerry Anderson, which originally aired in 2005.
For those unfamiliar with the premise:
In the year 2068, Earth is engulfed in a War of Nerves with an alien civilisation known as the Mysterons. The Mysterons possess the ability to control matter itself, allowing them to kill individuals and reconstruct them as instruments of their war against mankind.
The story is intended to be presented in a style somewhere between a storyboard and an audio drama.
This is an independently produced fan project, funded personally by myself, with the aim of bringing a new story to life through voice acting and audio production.
The episode is being developed and produced in manageable stages, with each portion completed as production progresses. This approach allows the project to develop incrementally while maintaining a consistent production process.
I'm looking for voice actors who are enthusiastic about the project, can deliver clear and expressive performances, and are happy to work within this staged production approach.
Whether you're an experienced voice actor or looking to build your experience, you're welcome to audition, provided you can meet the recording and performance requirements outlined below.
Please read the individual role descriptions carefully before submitting an audition.
As this is a paid project that I'm funding out of my own pocket, I'm looking for performances and recordings that are suitable for use in the finished production.
You don't need an expensive professional studio, but your recording setup should be capable of capturing your voice clearly, with minimal background noise, distortion or clipping.
Please record in as quiet an environment as possible and ensure that your dialogue is clear and easy to understand.
In terms of performance, I'm looking for actors who can interpret their lines naturally, convey the appropriate emotions, and deliver a performance that suits the character.
Please ensure that your audition meets these requirements before submitting.
This project is funded directly out of my own pocket, so the payment structure has been designed around the available budget.
Payment is $25 USD per completed portion in which your character appears.
Each portion is completed as part of the ongoing production process. Your total earnings will depend on how many portions feature your character.
For example:
A character appearing in one portion would earn $25.
A character appearing across three portions would earn $75.
A lead character appearing across five portions would earn $125.
Some roles may be brief, while others may recur throughout the episode. Recurring roles therefore have the potential to earn more over time.
As the episode is being developed progressively, the final number of portions featuring each character may not be known at the time of casting. Some roles may be pitched higher than this.
Payments will be made exclusively through PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, please be aware that I cannot pay you through an alternative method.
The episode is being produced in smaller portions, with each portion completed as production progresses. Characters may appear in multiple portions throughout the project.
This means that recording will take place incrementally rather than requiring the entire episode to be completed before production can begin.
Please bear this approach in mind when auditioning, particularly if you're considering a recurring or lead role.
Please do not slate your auditions.
Please follow any additional instructions provided in the individual role descriptions.
Ensure that your recording is clear and free from distracting background noise.
Submit a performance that demonstrates your interpretation of the character and their dialogue.
If you have any questions about a role or the production arrangements, please feel free to ask before auditioning!
Thank you for taking the time to consider this project. I appreciate every audition and the time and effort that goes into preparing one.
Good luck, and I look forward to hearing your performances!
Two additional roles have been posted!
Captain Blue [Male/American]
Lieutenant Green [Female/American]
The roles for Captain Scarlet, the project lead and supporting characters Captain Ochre and Colonel White are now posted and open!
[Recurring Character] Captain Scarlet is the lead character of my fan project and will play a central role throughout the show. The role requires someone who can capture Scarlet’s confident, determined, and heroic personality while also bringing emotion and intensity to his performances. This is intended to be a long-term position, with only a few scenes recorded at a time as the project progresses, so reliability, consistency, and enthusiasm for the character are important. Payment would be delivered after each batch of dialogue is received and utilised.
His voice is generally described as having a Mid-Atlantic/Transatlantic quality, with a clear, confident, and authoritative delivery. That said, I’m fairly flexible on the exact accent. The most important thing is that the voice feels natural, suits Scarlet’s character, and sounds good in the role.
For the initial session, you can expect to deliver approximately 6-7 lines.
[Casual/Slightly Awestrucken] "Did you ever think we'd see something like that?"
[Urgent] “Scarlet to Skybase--we’ve got a situation."
[Casual] “I suppose it might even be a little nostalgic for you to work with the WASPs again.”
[Recurring Character] Captain Ochre is a supporting character in my fan project, appearing throughout the series in a handful of scenes. She is Northern Irish, and a capable and dependable member of the team, with a confident and professional presence that complements the other characters around her. This is intended as a long-term position, with only a few scenes recorded at a time as the project progresses, so reliability and consistency are important. While the role is smaller than some of the lead characters, Ochre will have a meaningful presence by completion of the story.
For the initial segment to be recorded, Captain Ochre will have two lines. Payment will be delivered upon completion.

No need to imitate the original voice perfectly! This is just to give you an idea of the character's overall sound, tone, and delivery.
[Quiet, but cocky] "Which UN rep do you suppose called in that favour?”
[Urgent/Controlled] "We've got a problem with the ballast tanks!"
[Hushed/Concerned] "Adam, can you check on Paul?"
[Recurring Character] A refined, upper-class British voice with calm military authority. Measured and commanding, with a cool, composed gravitas. White's authority comes more from certainty and restraint. He sounds like someone who expects to be obeyed without needing to raise his voice.
This is intended to be a long-term position, with only a few scenes recorded at a time as the project progresses, so reliability, consistency, and enthusiasm for the character are important. Payment would be delivered after each batch of dialogue is received and utilised. You can expect 3-4 lines in the initial session.

"If there are no further questions- Lieutenant Green will provide the details of your security pattern and confirm your liaison."
"It’ll be entirely in our hands until we’re phased out of security oversight."
"The World Aquanaut Security Patrol will only be escorting Atlantis as it leaves port, in Saint Nazaire."
Lieutenant Green should sound like a competent, experienced officer carrying out her duties. Her delivery should feel natural and believable, with a focus on clear communication rather than exaggerated character acting. Routine dialogue should sound conversational and effortless, while urgent moments should convey tension and authority through controlled changes in tone, pace and emphasis.
[Professional Announcement] "Attention all captains. A priority briefing has been scheduled for oh-seven hundred. Please report to the briefing room.”
[Professional/Calm Under Pressure] "Poseidon is offline. Repeat: Offline."
[Professional/Friendly] "Here are your brief packets. Have fun down there!"
[Recurring Character] Brave, dependable, personable and decisive. A capable field officer with a strong sense of loyalty and a reassuring presence.
Captain Blue should sound like an experienced military officer who is equally convincing during routine exchanges with his colleagues and tense situations in the field. His voice should convey confidence and physical capability without becoming unnecessarily aggressive or theatrical. There should be warmth and personality beneath his professional exterior, particularly in his interactions with Captain Scarlet and Lieutenant Green.
Initial session will be 2-3 lines.
I'm not expecting a like-for-like performance, but the timestamped clip below is provided as a reference to help you capture the character's voice, tone, and overall delivery style for your audition!
Captain Blue’s Best Moments - New Captain Scarlet [2005]
[Conversational] "Still, they’re leaving it a little late to be dragging us into the mix, aren’t they? This thing’s been undergoing construction for decades."
[Conversational] "I’m saying don’t throw a parade before the game starts."
[Conversational] "It’s the world’s crown jewel now. Some giant, floating monument to peace and unity."
The World News Network television presenter speaks 123 words/7 lines. The dialogue would be delivered as if speaking directly to the camera from a newsroom to the general public. Calm, formal, clear, informative.
From her solar spires to the tidal reactors deep below the surface, every part of Atlantis has been designed to live in harmony with the ocean that sustains her.
Today, history floats.
On-site correspondent for the World News Network. You will be speaking as if projecting your voice over background noise in public. This role has 159 words spoken over eight lines.
Behind me you can see one of the massive tidal reactors, each designed to harness the natural rhythm of the sea to generate clean, renewable energy for over a million residents.
The atmosphere here is one of excitement and pride. For many of the scientists involved, Atlantis is more than a city; it’s proof that humanity can rise above disaster and learn to coexist with the planet it once endangered.
This role is 15 words spoken over 3 lines. You are a low-level engineer and maintenance worker for a futuristic and ambitious construction project. Something sudden and unexpected attacks you before you can determine what it is. This character could be portrayed either as a man or woman.
"Hey, Mark... You there? I've- Ah! AH! AHHHH!"
Let's hope they're right.
What's going on with this...
