Mysterious Sonder (Sims 2 Psychological Mystery Series)
Project Overview
Hello everyone!
I am new to directing but I do have some experience in filming and editing. The link above shows you the opening to Mysterious Sonder, to give you an idea as to whether this is something you want to audition for. I now also have a trailer, which you can watch: https://youtu.be/8I1kFpWKtiQ
Mysterious Sonder is a psychological mystery series, with elements of science fiction. I don't want to give too much of the story away, but I've planned for a lot of plot twists and surprises.
Brief synopsis
This series follows Lucy, a girl who struggles with an unrevealed condition, as she attempts to find meaning behind the strange occurrences in her life. Could the events following the opening of a prestigious school with very elitist entry criteria be connected?
I had originally planned to make this series subtitled, so there are 2 subtitled episodes on youtube, if you want to have a look at them. I will attempt to remake these, voiced over.
This series contains no inappropriate content or bad language, but some scenes may feel unsettling or upsetting, so keep this in mind when auditioning.
Rules/ information
- Please make sure you have a clear microphone with little background noise or static.
- Please read each audition line at least twice (with different interpretations).
- I’d like to aim for a deadline of 2 weeks for lines, but if you need longer than this, please let me know in advance.
- Must be committed in the long term, since this project could go on for a while.
- Episodes will be publically available on youtube, and voice actors will be credited with their castingcallclub username by default, but you can request something different if you prefer.
EXTRA NOTES:
- I am very dedicated to this project, so please be assured that it is very unlikely that I will cancel this (provided everything goes well).
- I encourage you to audition for multiple roles!
- Since this project isn't paid, ideally I'd like to work with people who enjoy voice acting as a hobby.
- Do not hesitate to ask for extra clarification with lines if needed. I am more than happy to give extra direction!
- Since I am new to directing voices, I am open to any feedback on how I could improve. If you've worked with other directors before and liked their methods, feel free to let me know. I want to bring out the best in you, so I am willing to go the extra mile!

Only 4 roles remaining
I have now cast the majority of the roles. In a previous update I mentioned that I would cast extras/ minors only when I use them, but I decided to cast exceptional ones today. There are still very good auditions for the remaining ones, which I may well end up using but I'd like to see what else comes along. I have left Lola open because I only put her up very recently. If you have been cast as an extra/ minor character, and the notes said there may be extra lines in the future, please could you contact me if you haven't already, and provide me with your email address/ contact details. -
Deadline has now passed
The deadline has now passed so I will be making some final decisions soon. If you weren’t cast this time round, there will most likely be an opportunity in the future, so please don’t be disheartened! There were many great auditions that I enjoyed listening to, but sadly it isn’t possible to work with every single one of you. I have decided to leave the extra roles open until I use them (since their audition covers the part for now), so if you want to audition for an extra part, you still can. There are also a couple of minor/ supporting roles that will remain open, as I have yet to find the right people. I’m going to keep extending the deadline for a week on these roles, until I find those who fit. If you are cast, please could you get in touch with me as soon as you can and provide your email address, where I’ll be sending scripts. If I haven’t heard from you in 3 days since casting, I may have to consider recasting, as a lack of response will be considered as not a serious commitment. -

Thank you so much to everyone who has auditioned so far, I honestly didn't think I'd receive such an incredible response for this casting call! Although I have a pretty good idea of who I want to cast at this stage, I have decided to extend the deadline for 4 more days, since I still need a bit of time to think. At that point, I will have the majority of the cast finalised. I may need a bit longer after this new deadline for some characters however, but these will mostly be minor/ extra parts.

(depressed) I want to feel things, like everyone else again, but I am deadened and numb. I can laugh or cry, but it's intellectual, my muscles move but I don't feel anything. I feel as if I am not here... I'm floating around... A seperate part of me is aware of all my movements; it's like I've left my body. It's like glass over my eyes... a visual world totally flat and two dimensional.
(Reluctant) It just feels weird to open up to a complete stranger about things they probably can't even relate to... and in the end it's probably just a waste of time. I don't feel like anything can really help me.

DESCRIPTION: Jamal is very musical and immigrated to the UK from India. He is Lucy's best friend and cares a lot about her, although he doesn't get on very well with her other friend, Corrin. He isn't very expressive and tends to bottle up his emotions. He has a certain mysterious vibe, as you can never quite tell what he is thinking.
EXTRA NOTES: If you don’t have a natural Indian accent, I’d rather you speak British. If the directions say lighthearted etc., make sure it isn't too expressive, but subtle.
(I've edited these lines, as I felt I previously didn't have enough to go on considering the significance of the role. As a result, the first three auditioners will have voiced the earlier version. Sorry for any confusion).
