Mouthwashing: First Journey

Responsible for writing and shaping the story. Create scripts, dialogue, character interaction, scenes, and narration while making sure things remain consistent.

Responsible for turning the written script and recorded voice lines into the finished animation. Combine voice acting, music, sound effects, and visuals to create the experience we want viewers to enjoy.

Responsibilities:
- Edit + organize recorded voice lines
- Add background music, sound effects, environmental audio
- Balance dialogue + audio levels
- Create radio effects, static, distortion, other communication effects when needed
- Remove unwanted background noises + pauses
- Sync audios
- Maintain overall atmosphere + pacing
- Export + prepare finished episodes for release

The Tulpar's medical officer/nurse. She is gentle, compassionate, and attentive to the crew's needs. However, she can be a bit anxious and reserved, especially when in conflict.

In the animation, Anastasia (referred to as Anya) is a 26 year old Mexican-Japanese American and was born on February 23rd. Her mother is from Mexico, while her father is half Japanese and half American. Her family strongly embraces their Hispanic heritage and often speaks Spanish.

Her nickname, "Anya" came from her little sister Lucia, who struggled to pronounce Anastasia and accidentally turned "Ana" into "Anya."

Anya dreams of being a psychologist and spends a lot of her time reading psychology books. She spent much of high school studying medicine but struggles with severe test anxiety and self-doubt, causing her to constantly fail her boards. As a last resort, she joined Pony Express, which offered nursing training and financial support for future medical exams.

Marisol is a warm and attentive woman who takes great pride in her family. Originally from Mexico, she has made sure that Anya and Lucia remain connected to their Hispanic heritage and culture.

She is supportive of Anya's dreams of becoming a psychologist, but she worries about her daughter's tendency to doubt herself. Marisol often encourages Anya in Spanish, especially when she notices Anya becoming overwhelmed.

Although she is proud of Anya for joining Pony Express, sending her daughter into space is something she struggles to accept.

Lucia is Anya’s younger sister (Roughly 11 years old) and one of the people Anya is closest to. She is affectionate, curious, and much more outgoing than her older sister. Lucia has always looked up to Anya and sees her as someone she can rely on.

Lucia is responsible for Anya’s nickname. When she was little, she couldn't pronounce “Anastasia” properly and tried calling her “Ana.” Instead, it came out sounding like “Anya,” and the nickname stuck. Even as she gets older, Lucia still calls her Anya out of habit.

She worries about Anya leaving for Pony Express but tries not to show it too much. Their relationship gives Anya a strong connection to home and reminds her why she wants to build a better future.

Gabriel is quieter and more reserved than Marisol. He is half Japanese and half American and grew up balancing multiple cultures within his family.

He tends to show his love through actions rather than words. Gabriel doesn't always know what to say when Anya is anxious, but he is always there when she needs him.

He supports Anya's decision to join Pony Express, even though he worries about the risks. He often reminds her that failing an exam doesn't mean she has failed herself.

Jimmy is the 31-year old co-pilot of the Tulpar. He is confident, ambitious, and charismatic, but can also be arrogant, controlling, and outspoken. He has a complicated relationship with authority and responsibility.

His birthday is June 15th. Jimmy is an only child and has a gravely voice. His real name is James, but he hates being called that. Orion is the only person allowed to call him James, usually when something is serious.

Jimmy and Orion are extremely close friends, almost like brothers. They became close during their pilot training, and their friendship remains strong aboard the Tulpar, even if their closeness occasionally leads to bickering.

Jimmy has previously struggled with alcohol and can still occasionally be found with a beer. Joining Pony Express was also a last resort for him: a chance to get his life back on track while pursuing an ambition in hopes of climbing the corporate ladder alongside Orion. However, his plans of becoming captain didn't go exactly as he hoped.

Swansea is the 55-year-old mechanic of the Tulpar. He is tough, straightforward, sarcastic, and often comes across as grumpy. Despite his rough exterior, he is experienced and dependable.

His birthday is May 1st, and he has a rough sounding voice with a slight New Jersey accent. He is married and has two daughters: his 22-year-old eldest daughter is in college, while his 17-year-old youngest daughter is a high-school senior. Because of his daughters, Swansea develops a close bond with Anya. He often treats her with a little more patience and concern than he does the rest of the crew.

Swansea has also struggled with past alcoholism in the past, making his relationship with drinking another important part of his character.

Evelyn is Swansea's wife and one of the few people who knows how to deal with his gruff personality without taking it personally. She is patient, practical, and knows when to push him and when to simply let him be.

She has spent years watching Swansea work long hours and understands that his rough attitude often hides how much he cares.

Evelyn worries about him being away from home for so long, especially knowing how much he misses their daughters. She is also one of the few people who can tell when something is bothering him, even when he refuses to admit it.

Rachel is Swansea's eldest daughter and is currently attending college. She is independent, ambitious, and determined to build a life of her own.

She inherited some of her father's stubbornness but is more willing to openly express her emotions. She and Swansea are close, although they occasionally clash because neither of them likes admitting when they're wrong.

Rachel understands why her father works away from home but still wishes he could be around more often.

Emily is Swansea's youngest daughter and is currently a high-school senior. She is energetic, opinionated, and not afraid to challenge her father.

Unlike Rachel, Emily is still very attached to her dad and misses him whenever he is away. She frequently calls or messages him, even if their conversations sometimes turn into arguments.

Swansea acts annoyed by her constant questions and teasing, but everyone in the family knows he absolutely loves it.

Orion is the 28-year-old captain of the Tulpar. He is calm, professional, and well-liked by his crew. He tries to maintain a friendly relationship with everyone while taking his responsibilities as a captain seriously.

In the animation, Orion is a Southern man from Virginia. He grew up with his two older brothers, Atlas and Cassian. His Southern upbringing remains an important part of his personality. His father died and he feels guilt. His brothers took on somewhat of a father role after this. Not necessarily to him, but in general

His birthday is September 28th. Orion is known throughout Pony Express, particularly among many of the women who work there. He has never dated any of them, but that certainly hasn't stopped people from knowing his name or being interested in him.

Atlas is Orion's oldest brother and has always taken on something of a protective role within the family. He is serious, confident, and responsible, sometimes acting more like a second father than a brother. This is extremely important after the passing of their father.

Atlas is proud of Orion becoming a captain but occasionally worries that Orion takes too much responsibility onto himself. He is the type to give Orion advice even when Orion didn't ask for it.

Despite their occasional disagreements, Atlas cares deeply about his younger brother and wants him to succeed.

Cassian is Orion's other older brother and is considerably more relaxed than Atlas. He is playful, sarcastic, and enjoys teasing Orion whenever he gets the opportunity.

Cassian is often the one who lightens the mood during family gatherings. He likes reminding Orion that being captain doesn't make him the boss of his brothers. With the loss of his father, Cassian takes on the role of being the one to listen when people need him to. He enjoys helping his family wherever assistance is needed.

Despite his joking personality, Cassian is extremely protective of Orion. He is one of the first people Orion can call when he needs someone to talk to.

Margaret is a warm Southern woman who raised three sons and learned very quickly how to keep up with their personalities. With the loss of her husband, she occasionally feels grief. She sees her husband in her sons. She is affectionate, practical, and fiercely protective of her family.

She is incredibly proud of Orion and his accomplishments but worries about him being so far from home. She frequently reminds him to eat properly, get enough rest, and call home.

Margaret has a particularly soft spot for Orion because she knows how seriously he takes his responsibilities.

Rebecca is another nurse in training at Pony Express and one of Anya’s closest friends. She and Anya became classmates during their nursing training and quickly bonded over their shared struggles, studies, and experiences.

Becca is more confident and outspoken than Anya, often encouraging her whenever Anya begins doubting herself. She knows how anxious Anya can become before exams and is usually the person reminding her that she knows more than she thinks she does.

The two often study together, with Becca helping Anya stay calm while Anya helps Becca stay focused. Their friendship gives Anya someone her own age who understands the pressure of becoming a medical professional.

Unlike Anya, Becca is generally more comfortable speaking her mind and standing up for herself. She sometimes encourages Anya to do the same, even if Anya isn't always ready to listen.

Although they eventually take different paths within Pony Express, Becca remains one of the people Anya trusts most before leaving for the Tulpar.

Thomas Hale is the CEO of Pony Express. He is a traditional, hardworking, and business-minded man who values discipline, efficiency, and responsibility.

Thomas has a reputation for being demanding but fair. He expects his employees to take their work seriously and holds captains to a particularly high standard.

Any messages sent to the Tulpar come from Thomas Hale and his team back at Pony Express headquarters.

Marcus Venn is another captain working for Pony Express. He is confident, charming, and noticeably flirtatious, particularly toward Anya. He enjoys teasing her and frequently tries to get her attention whenever they're around each other.

However, Anya doesn't like Marcus. His flirting makes her uncomfortable, and she often finds his behavior irritating rather than charming. She tries to remain polite and professional, but she would much rather avoid him whenever possible.

Orion absolutely hates Marcus. He doesn't trust him and finds his behavior toward Anya especially irritating. Marcus knows that both of them dislike him, but instead of backing off, he sometimes intentionally pushes their buttons just to get a reaction. His rivalry with Orion becomes a recurring source of tension. Marcus treats their disagreements like a joke, while Orion takes him considerably less lightly.
