Megami Ibunroku Persona [Comic Dub]
Project Overview
What is this?
This is a fandub effort of the manga adaptation of the first game in the Persona series, Megami Ibunroku Persona (or just Persona 1 for short).
In case you're unfamiliar with the series, Persona is a franchise about various high school students awakening to a hidden power called a "Persona", reflections of their other-selves in order to fight whatever menace each story faces. Despite many shared similarities between each title, the specifics of how the cast gain their powers and how they're used also vary between each game.
The story of this title follows the protagonist (Named Naoya Toudou in the manga) and his classmates in St. Hermelin High School whom after playing the "Persona" game, find themselves losing consciousness and meeting a strange man named Philemon. Soon after, they find themselves going to the hospital to get themselves checked and to visit their ill bedridden friend, Maki. During the visit, a number of irregularities begin happening in their town, most notably demons roaming the streets. From there, the party attempts to track down the source of the invasion and restore their town back to normal.
This dub will be produced in a way to make the manga medium as appealing as possible visually in video form, in a style much like this (https://youtu.be/k7lhXOwZjvo). Do note that the text and dialogue will be mostly re-translated by my efforts, since the older fan translation is pretty outdated and inaccurate with some of the games' terms. This isn't an "animated manga" per se, since we don't have any redrawers, but sound design and panel presentation will be key to making this as engaging as possible. (Though, if you are one/aware of any redrawers who would be interested, please let us know via DM!)
Requirements:1.) Please have decent mic quality. No need for any high-end stuff, but try to avoid background noise, excessive peaking and high reverb as much as possible.
2.) You may record up to 3 takes per line. If you are, please have a noticeable difference in delivery between them.
3.) Lines in red are voice directions. Do not read them out loud.
4.) Questions are all well and good, but unnecessary ones you can Google/have been already answered publicly will be ignored.
5.) Do not slate your name at the start of your audition. Your username does that for you.
6.) Please have your audio clean with no effects or music. I only want to hear your voice and acting ability.
7.) You may record for as many characters as you see fit.
8.) Once picked, this project will use live direction for everyone through individual Discord calls. Please keep that in mind.
Worth noting, regardless of whom you may be picked as, there are many additional characters in this manga, so it's very likely you'll voice for another character at least once.
That's about it! Needless to say, no need to have any prior experience with the series, so don't be intimidated if some of this feels alien to you! If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a DM or comment.

Thank you to everyone who auditioned, we're finally at the end of this casting call! CCC should have notified everyone, but make sure to check your PMs for further details! I'll be responding to some of the people who asked for feedback in the coming days, although do understand that I've been busy lately and I don't have much time to respond to everyone immediately ^^`. That should be it! Congratulations to everyone cast and best of luck in the future for those who didn't make it!

One More Day To Audition!
Hello! Due to a misunderstanding between Casting Call Club and My Timezone, the deadline has been pushed back one day! Usually I wouldn't even bother considering it *is* just one day, but my workflow has been scheduled under a different assumption, so it'd be better for everyone for this to be corrected! Once again, thank you all so much for auditioning so far, frankly it's been a bit overwhelming, I'm glad so many of you took interest! I hope to see some good new faces in the last minute too! Cheers! -
Slight Edits & Tweaks to character descriptions.
Hi! Slight update concerning the character descriptions. I've made some slight edits in order to remove some of the unnecessary descriptions from certain characters and probably will continue to do so throughout the week for the sake of making them more digestible, I might've gone a bit overboard initially, haha. The deadline shouldn't be affected, as we're still far from it and this has no effect on any of the people who've already auditioned. I'd like to thank everyone who auditioned so far, though! It's been a blast hearing everyone's takes on the characters. I don't respond to anyone directly before the deadline, but rest assured I have been keeping track with everyone's submissions. That's about it! Hoping everyone reading this has a great remainder of the week and stay safe.
Much like other Persona protagonists, Naoya is a rather calm and collected man, who tends to keep to himself by being quiet. At times, he can be rather blunt, both in his sudden actions and slips, perhaps not having the greatest grasp on social cues, but having enough natural charisma to pull it off. Naoya is primarily an internal character, meaning he keeps his emotions locked up for the most part, and not letting others get much of a deep grasp of his character. This is because he's rather unsure of who he is himself,
Auditioning for Naoya requires auditioning for Kazuya Toudou as well, a twin brother of his who died at the age of 4, yet mysteriously comes back to haunt him throughout the story, grown up to be the same age as he is. Kazuya is brash, rude, petty, condescending, and pretty much the exact opposite of Naoya. He represents traits Naoya tries to suppress, forget or isn't proud of. He's incredibly tauntful, toying with Naoya with every chance he gets and trying to put him in his place, a very traditionally evil character.
Naoya is voiced by Grant Georgeand in the game itself, although his in-game portrayal is only limited to battle cries. I'd imagine he'd sound much like Xander Mobus' portrayal of the Persona 5 protagonist (https://youtu.be/pbTt0iz-Wvc?t=36), down to a similar mid-to-low voice range, if not a little higher.
I'll bet on Mark. No point to a one-sided bet.
Naoya is attempting to cheer up his friend after seemingly being given the cold shoulder by the group. He's playing it cool, for the sake of not offending anybody or derailing the conversation.
I'm sorry, I haven't come over in a while... My parents have also been worried.
Naoya is talking to his childhood friend Maki at the hospital. He's aware she's very lonely, and tries to reassure her that him not seeing her isn't her fault.
(Thinking to himself) Inside me... Is another self, huh...? Which of them is the real me, I wonder... Who knows. Does something like a "real me" even exist?
Naoya is looking at himself in the bathroom and takes a moment's quiet to think about the nature of his power, and what it means for himself. He's trying to approach it calmly, but it's clear an inner layer of terror about his own uncertainties is creeping in.
(As Kazuya) You won't give up for some reason... Nah, more like can't give up, yeah? You think you know all about yourself, but let's be real: You're just scared.
Kazuya watches over Naoya tremble and break his usual cool attitude over his presence, and casually gloats about reading him like an open book.
Hey Naoya, do you live for anything? Why are you even fighting? Would you not rather die? Why not? What do you get from life? Answer me. What do you get from living?
Kazuya starts getting more direct with Kazuya, playing on his survivor's guilt. He begins by posing it as a neutral question and starts getting angrier the more he goes on. While not completely furious, by the end, he's lost his patience and starts seriously demanding for an answer.
PERSONA!
Naoya awakens to his power and in a burst of power, summons his Persona by screaming from the top of his lungs! This is a trademark battle cry in the series, and is frequently done by all the characters in the games. (Example: https://youtu.be/IUpOp5hIyr8)
Maki Sonomura is the most important character in Persona 1. At the beginning of the story, she comes off as a shy, reserved and pleasant girl, with an interest in painting. She wants nothing more than the good company of her friends and to live a peaceful, normal life. Unfortunately, that reality is robbed of her when she's hospitalized, making her more depressed and kicking off the events of the story.
When she returns later on, Maki is suddenly a much more outgoing, happy, peppy high school girl, much to the confusion of her friends. She's very emotional, not really keeping any of her thoughts inside and acting incredibly friendly to others.
Auditioning for Maki also requires auditioning for two other characters, Aki and Mai. These two are representations of Maki's id and super-ego, manifested in child forms. Aki is a mischievous, evil girl who only thinks about playing tricks on those around her, and making fun of her enemies. Mai, on the other hand, is an even quieter, shier scared girl, who tends to be very prone to crying, and believes it'd be best for her to lock herself off from the world.
In the game, she's voiced by Melissa Fahn. Auditioning for Maki requires high acting range, as Maki's character fluctuates throughout the story as it explores many different sides of her. Her voice is in the mid-to-high feminine range, and her child selves will require performances from both sides of the coin (Bratty and innocent).
I've been feeling better lately... Maybe due to the nice dreams I see. I can't remember them well, but... Either way, they put me at ease. The people are all so nice... It's never unpleasant... And the town has all these pretty flowerbeds. It's like... I went through a gate to paradise. Meanwhile, of course, in here, I'm... I'm... heavy breathing Why... WHYYY!
Maki reflects on her situation, confined all alone in the hospital. She focuses on the nice, pleasant dreams she's had lately, which makes her feel more peaceful. Her voice becomes softer and happier as she goes on about her personal paradise. That is, until she snaps back to reality, and is overcome by an anxiety attack, which leads her to cry out "Why?".
Heyo! What's up, Naoya? ...Oh, did I knock you down? Oops. Sorryyy, my bad.
Maki comes in bursting through a broken wall and knocks down Naoya by accident. Excited to come back to school and see her friends, she greets them happily and casually, before realizing their weird looks on her and Naoya on the floor. She tries to brush it aside, apologizing while still in a high mood and chuckling it off....Fine! I'll just go by myself then! I can't just stay quiet and do nothing while my friends are in trouble! If I did, and end up regretting it... Even if others will forgive me, I know I just won't be able to forgive myself!
After her friends try to discourage her from setting out, Maki bursts out in anger and declares that she's going anyway. She understands the danger of what she's doing, but decides to go anyway because she knows she'd be suffering for a lot longer if she doesn't, getting a lot more emotional as she explains her reasoning.(As Aki) I'm gonna tell my Daddy on you! Daddy's REAL strong! You guys won't stand a chance!
After being defeated by the group, Aki starts boasting about how strong and powerful her dad is, like most kids after being beaten at the playground. She's clearly very upset over being defeated, although starts getting more seriously confidant by the end since she knows how powerful her dad is.(As Mai) Waaah... *sniffle* Why can't I just hide...? Won't I be safe if I just stay here? Forever and ever?
Mai is hopelessly crying out of fear, scared out the outside world and the enemies that hate her within it. She doesn't understand why she can't just stay hiding forever, since as sad as it is, it's the only way she really knows.
Kei Nanjo is a genius, arrogant and boastful rich boy. Coming from the esteemed family of the Nanjo Group, Kei is fueled by validation of those in the higher world and attempts to act as mature, adult and intelligent as he can, seeing it as the only correct outlook for someone in his position. He tends to be rather cold and judgmental to those around him, but attempts to stay well mannered and polite despite his condescending outlook. He tries to be driven purely by logic, rather than emotion, emphasis on trying.
In the game, he's voiced by Troy Baker, giving a rather calculated and confidant delivery. His voice range is rather low, although middle-range actors are welcome to audition as long as his mannerisms are intact.
Pardon me, but... With that sort of offhand explanation, is there even any point to holding this class?
Kei is interrupting the teacher as his explanation is finished. Being disappointed due to his prior passion in the subject, he "politely" lashes out and attempts to lecture the teacher himself.Hmph... All I did was speak my mind. If you wish to cast a blaming finger, you'd better be pointing it towards Nishida's character instead.
After being blamed for causing the group to stay after school hours, Kei shifts the blame towards his teacher, as he genuinely doesn't see himself as doing anything wrong. He's very boastful, raising himself as someone sensible and degrading those "forcing him down".Answer me, Yamaoka! I beg of you, open your eyes...! What am I supposed to do without you? Who will encourage me... Who... Who can even stand by me...?
Kei, after watching his faithful butler Yamaoka die in front of his eyes, tries to wake him up after hearing his last words, not being able to accept his death. While he starts as commanding, he very quickly starts being overtaken by his emotions, starting to cry by the end as he realizes that he's all alone in the world.
Yukino is a yankī student, who used to be a delinquent before being reformed by her teacher, Saeko Takemi, although retains many of the same brash, somewhat rude mannerisms from her delinquent days. She tends to act as a supporting big sister type to her friends, being the most honestly mature and responsible in the group, even acting as somewhat of a straightman during the more silly, outrageous moments. Underneath her general attitude, she's a very caring and empathetic person, trying to help others in danger the same way Ms Saeko helped her rather than fight.
In the game, she's voiced by Kirsten Potter, and has a somewhat snarky but confidant attitude to her. (Her voice clips from Persona 2; https://youtu.be/6P4luDpoOuQ?t=254) Her voice range is is mid-to-low.
Hey! You two cut it out, you're being annoying! Let's just get this over with, I have part-time after this.
Yukino tries to put down a petty argument in the group, as she's stressed for time and finds it hard to work with their annoying bickering in the background. She's mad at them for acting childish and distracting her from getting things done, and is clearly a little tired of their antics.Sure, I'll tell her next time I see her. So how've you been? You doing okay?
Yukino visits her friend Maki in the hospital with the group and knowing how hard it is for her, she tries to reassure her that she's still cared for and that things are going fine. She presents it in a reaffirming, pleasant but casual tone, to help put Maki at ease that everything is fine."Persona" huh... I still can't believe it. Those monster things actually existing... Or us managing to kill them...
Yukino, being a realist, has a hard time coping with the fact she just killed actual zombies with a weird stand power that came out of her, so she takes a moment to herself to confirm it was indeed real, a bit terrified of the reality she's been thrust into.
Mark is a brash student and frequent troublemaker, that despite his fits of rudeness, carries around a good casual attitude with him. He aims to be a graffiti artist, taking pride in his designs and spray work, though has had frequent run-ins with the cops. He's called "Mark" due to his overprotective mother coining the term "Makkun" for him, something he saw as demeaning and childish, so he spun it around to make it seem more cool and foreign. He has frequent bouts with Kei, due to his lower intellect and tendency to react primarily upon his emotions. While appearing cool and fun on the surface, he has a softer, more intimate side he lets out when he's near his crush, Maki Sonomura.
In the game, he's voiced by Sam Riegel, who gives him a playful, excited attitude. He has a mid-to-high voice range.
Aha! A fat load of nothing! See ya at the buffet, Brown!
After too much suspense and the rest of group taking his opponent's side, Mark managed to win a bet against Brown, and feels incredibly excited and rewarded over his guaranteed free All-You-Can-Eat meal, definitely rubbing it into Brown's face. All cuz ya had to flex your brain waves on us, that Chinese Lit. dude gave us a whole darn assignment! How far does the stick up your ass go, man?
Mark is very fed up with Nanjo's bullshit, and his tendency to put himself on a pedestal at the expense of others. While doing his work, he casually lets his stress out on Nanjo directly, in a more annoyed tone than straight-up angry....I don't care if she's some engineer... Maki says she's never even around... Always "work", "work", "work"...
Mark cares a lot for Maki, and feels bad that she has to be in the situation she's in. He knows why, but the facts still depress him. He says this less in his usual angry, brash behaviour and more in a soft, sad mopey tone.
Ayase is a simple-minded, ditzy, uncaring teenage girl that prefers to party over thinking about her future. Ayase is based off the kogal gyaru type in Japanese, although in the localization she's a valley girl, which is more important to us here. She can be an airhead, very childish and has a habit of being very blunt and rude, a little too honest at times due to her not having the greatest grasp on empathy (Although she certainly doesn't mind lying when it benefits her.) Despite all of this though, Ayase is incredibly grateful for her friends and the people helping her, going out of her way to cherish and appreciate the gestures made for her, and will try to help when she can.
In the game, her voice actress remained uncredited, but she gave her a cutesy and cheery delivery. Her voice is in the high range.
Hidehiko! You jerk! Now I look like a total idiot!
Ayase is incredibly embarrassed after Brown made her participate in the Persona game. While she was totally on board the idea a few minutes ago, now she's casting the blame onto Brown because it didn't seem like it panned out. She cares a lot about her self image, so she's incredibly mad as well.Don't play with your piercings like that. What if your ears like, get all infected?
Ayase is bothered by Naoya playing with his piercings, perhaps due to a past experience or a crush on him, but him sitting in front of her puts it right in her view, so she whispers to him to cut it out since it annoys her, and she doesn't want anything bad to happen to him, either.I toootally thought you were killed by some monster.
Ayase sees the group come back to school after a long time away from it. As demons have already started attacking the city and it's been a while, she assumed the worst for everyone not already confined inside. Seeing Naoya and the others return, she definitely feels a great sense of relief, but her surprised reaction makes it come off more comical than she meant it.
Brown is the resident class clown of St. Hermelin High, known for his large ego, high confidence and over-friendliness. His style of humour tends to be among the dumb puns and dad joke type, something that frequently gets him attention which he relishes in. He tends to be somewhat self-centred, be it a facade or not, self appointing himself as a leader and acting like he's somewhat of a big deal. The core of Brown's character stems from his nickname, which doesn't originate from his hair colour, but rather due to an incident from his childhood that involved him crapping his pants. Being made the butt of everyone's joke for so long, he decided to own it and spin it in his favour, making himself seem cooler by presenting himself as a joke.
In the game, he's voiced by Keith Silverstein, who gives him an overconfident, slightly over the top delivery. His voice is mid-to-low range.
KNOW WHY YOU CAN'T HEAR A PSYCHIATRIST IN THE BATHROOM?? CUZ THE 'P' IS SILENT!!!
Brown and the party are ambushed by a pack of demons. In order to ward them off, Brown musters all of his energy, and rather than fight, he starts shouting this gag with all of the conviction and power he has, as if he's telling the most powerful, funniest joke ever told and needs the delivery to be perfect.Forget that guy! What about good ol' me? I'm fun! 'Sides, that guy's definitely a coward deep down, y'know? His heart's dead-scared, so he just talks big to fool us!
Mysterious student Reiji Kido causes a scene in the cafeteria while tensions were already high, and some of the girls start whispering to themselves, some even somewhat charmed by his "bad boy" attitude. Deciding to take over the situation, Brown puts his hand over one of them and tries to break the ice, and tries to confidently and smoothly calm down the situation, while also subconsciously projecting his own insecurities on other people. That guy's a straight-A student, never late to class and always goes home soon as the last bell hits. Top of that, his luck's through the roof. Sure, your great Brown's luck stat is also pretty high, but... I dunno, I can't find much reason to hang out with the guy since he's so damn quiet...
Brown shares his honest thoughts about Naoya while talking to Maki, not really putting on his usual over comical Persona and talking a lot more seriously and contemplative. He feels genuinely puzzled a guy like Naoya can be so accomplished and get as much attention as he does, be it due to jealously or just being put off by his silent attitude. He's not really mad, just unsure.
Elly is an eccentric, wealthy young lady known for her amiable, elegant personality and knowledge of other languages. She's incredibly popular among the students due to her good looks and passionate manners. Among her passions, she takes great interest in mythology and the occult, getting excited that her own Persona is the goddess of victory Nike. She has a great sense of justice and heroic ideals, seeing herself fit to help and protect her friends, and tends to carry herself with a lot of enthusiasm when it comes to ambitious actions.
Elly has been studying overseas for most of her life, which let become fluent in many cultures and admit some of them to herself. In the original Japanese text, she would often use English words in common speech, even spelling the character's names in English. In the localization, this was foregone by making her speech more eccentric and elegant. Ideally, I'd like to cast a British Accented Actress for her in order to maintain another part of that foreign eccentricity, but feel free to audition for her regardless as long as you keep the mannerisms. Her voice range is mid-to-high, but mannerisms matter more than anything in this case, so it doesn't matter as much. Feel free to audition even if your range differs!
Worry not! I may not look it, but I'm a rather capable fencer.
Elly comes to the rescue of her friends in a decisive moment, feeling heroic, she decides to exclaim her prowess and assure her friends she knows what she's doing, feeling very proud and confidant at her actions. She's definitely getting some enjoyment from playing the part.
It's so quiet... This town was so ordinary up until now... It feels so strange with no one around. As if I'm part of a Stephen King novel...
Elly is traversing through the town, evidently very curious about what are the strange happenings going on. While seeing her once ordinary town completely desolate, she feels less scared and more curious. When realizing how fantastical the setting she's been thrust into is, she gets a bit self-indulgent and passionate about being apart of such a weird and unique situation, very much too happy despite the danger she might face.
Nanjo was the one to tell me about our Spirit Power in the first place... But I can't be sure. If all they have to do is managing it, they should be fine, but... What if they have to fight someone else wielding a Persona?
Elly sees Nanjo as a capable and dependable on his own, seeing as he helped her manage her own power, but now, knowing more than him about how it spreads and the kind of dangers he'll face, starts getting more worried. She's overall calm about the situation but is definitely concerned about what could happen to her friends.
Reiji Kido is a reclusive, antisocial mysterious transfer student who tends to flake out in class. He tends to stay quiet, and when he does talk, it's usually in quick threats or sudden fits of anger. Reiji is a bastard child, his father leaving him before he was born. His primary goal in the story is taking revenge by killing Kandori, his half brother. He directs his anger towards him, since his father is already long gone and facing Kandori is the only thing he thinks he can do to calm his irrational anger, Kandori representing the "favoured child" and life he could've had.
Reiji's range is mid-to-low, more than all, his delivery needs to sound intimidating, feeling like it's possible he can beat you up if you say anything wrong.
You'd all better stay away from here. 'less you want to die, of course...
Reiji sees the cast come to the Abandoned Factory, where he lurks waiting for his chance to come after Kandori. Seeing them snoop around, he doesn't want them to get in his way, nor get hurt on their own accord for no reason, so he warns them in a menacing way, as if he'll have to take care of them himself.
Don't get stupid over shitty rumors!
Panic starts ensuing in the cafeteria after Mark the students the might be trapped inside the city. While everyone's freaking out, Reiji's had it and punches the table hard, causing a large sound that catches everyone's attention. He then shouts in anger and frustration to stop making a big deal out of stuff they haven't even confirmed yet.
Less people than I expected... Are they circling up top? ...Who cares. I finally got my chance. This is it... You just wait, Takahisa Kandori.
Reiji is finally going inside SEBEC's headquarters from the secret entrance. He confronts some of the guards head-on, and notices there aren't that many around. He takes a moment to observe around before ultimately deciding it doesn't matter, and reaffirm himself of his goal. He's very impatient, ready to come over and take Kandori down.
Kandori is the primary villain of the story. At the start of the story, he's a calm and collected, traditionally evil businessman. He developed a god complex, using his money and resources to rise to the top and attempt to cause the apocalypse within Mikage-Cho, the town our cast lives in. He has an heir of charisma to him, almost never startled and seeming too powerful to be stopped. As the story progresses, and Kandori becomes closer to achieving his ultimate goal, he becomes apathetic. He starts succumbing to nihilism, seeing his life now devoid of meaning that he completed his goal and becoming depressingly hollow.
I've listed him as "Middle Age" despite only being around 28 by the events of the story, since he looks a fair bit older and is meant to sound older as well, having a very mature and guarding aura akin to a father figure. His voice range would be mid-to-low.
My, what a rare pleasure. What business does the scion of the Nanjo family have with us?
Kandori sees Nanjo among the party as they start pursuing him. Already being familiar with each other due to both he and Nanjo's family being a party of the cooperate world, he taunts him with confidence as if he can't be touched. He does so casually, as if he was approached by him in a business convention and is trying to be polite.
...So it truly is pointless. I thought if you managed to make it this far, you children would have the answers I look for. But it seems that was too much to expect...
Kandori sits in peace, having given up on his reason not seeing any point to it anymore. After giving a speech about his reasoning and current lack of purpose in life, he sees the party give their "expected answers" and becomes disappointed. He sighs in bitter sadness, not really feeling depressed, but moreso empty and accepting of such an outcome for what he's done.
Hah... You'd tell a god to condone nonsense? That, too, is a grave sin... A god commands and condemns. It does not lend an ear to the pleas of vermin.
Kandori starts to relish in the pleasures of his newfound powers. After hearing the party talk back at him the way they did, he becomes more heated and into his god part, irritated, but more absorbed in his own power than anything.
Philemon is a mysterious figure in the Persona universe. He serves as our party's guide and mentor, being the one to bestow upon them their Personas. He resides in a place "between consciousness and unconsciousness", not being able to directly interact with the human realm. His demeanour is calm, soothing and gentle, with some natural angelic charisma. Throughout the story, he tries to guide the party towards their ultimate goal, giving them peace of mind whenever possible and understanding of alien situations when necessary. Philemon believes in the good of humanity, believing that all humans have the potential to do good. His job, as he sees it, is giving them the tools to do so.
In the game, he's voiced by Travis Willingham, giving a wisened, intelligent delivery, and is the only character to be voice acted in almost every appearance. Examples include his introduction scene (https://youtu.be/iXZFs8uq-co) and his warning of the future (https://youtu.be/CB6ik17itnc). It should be said while Travis' range is rather akin to an adult's lower voice, Philemon is an entity with a fluid appearance, and his voice can range from a knowledgable young teacher to a wisened older mentor, so don't shy on auditioning for this as long as your mannerisms can replicate something among the classic mentor archetype.
Welcome. It's a pleasure to meet you. I am Philemon, a dweller between consciousness and unconsciousness. Can you state your name?
Philemon calmly welcomes the party into his realm. He acts as a calm, soothing man to help them relax from the shock of their situation.Tell me this, are you aware of the many and varied selves you harbor within you? The self suffused with divine love? The self capable of demonic cruelty? People live by wearing different masks. Your current self may be only one of those innumerable masks.
Philemon explains the concept of "Persona" to the party, not as a mysterious superpower but manifestations of parts of themselves they have to confront. he's acting as a collected mentor, teaching them what their power means. What you have borne witness to is but another side to the power of "Persona". That young man was merely unable to restrain his other-self, a matter which resulted in him being dominated by his very own power. His heart was weak, and as such, his outburst is understandable and worthy of forgiveness.
Philemon snaps the party back to his realm in order to make them aware of the other facets of their power. He's showing a more compassionate, loving side while still remaining collected and focused.
Yamaoka is a butler working for the Nanjo family, but most notably the caretaker of Kei Nanjo. Since Kei's parents are often away on business, Yamaoka is the closest Kei has to a guardian figure. He acts much like the loyal butler archetype. think Alfred from Batman, although he can definitely be seen as a bit too overprotective in this case (Coming to the hospital to spy on Kei to make sure he's alright). During the events of the hospital, Yamaoka is killed trying to protect the people of the hospital and Kei by proxy.
Yamaoka is a loving, slightly clumsy old man, with very a modest, elegant presentation. His voice range is mid-to-high.
The hospital!? Heavens! I do hope you haven't hurt yourself, young master!
Yamaoka hears that Kei has been asked to go to the hospital, and being the worrisome old man he is, immediately fears for the worst. He asks Kei to make sure everything is alright, ready to offer to take him himself if need be.
Oh, my! Will you be going out on the town with your chums, young master?
Yamaoka knows Kei doesn't usually have much of a social life at school, so seeing him interact and hang out with his friends suddenly makes him really proud and relieved, happy that Kei has at least somewhat of a social life.
Oh, young master... Don't be so sad... It spoils your handsome face... You're a fine Japanese man... And a man must stand on his own someday...
Yamaoka lays on the floor, exhausted and ready to die after all he's done and seeing how Kei handled himself. He feels strangely at peace, due to his age and actions he knew this would happen eventually, his only worry in the world being Kei. With bated breath and exhaustion, he tries to encourage Kei to stand up straight and move on, believing in him until the end.
Saeko is a homeroom teacher in St. Hermelin High. She's quite liked among the students, due to her friendly personality and young attitude, with her wellbeing for the students above all else. She tends to act as somewhat of a guiding mother figure to some, most notably helping Yukino reform from being a delinquent. While still mature, she's quite relaxed and easy-taking, not seeing much reason to make a fuss out of hoaxes and bad situations. She can be a bit careless at times, only letting off bad behaviour with a slap on the back when it can end up badly, but overall, there's a reason the students gravitate so much towards her over everyone else.
Saeko is a young adult, who tends to give a responsible but relaxed impression just on first contact. She has a mid-range voice, although it doesn't matter too much.
Oh, sorry about that! It's just a silly school legend. "Whoever wears it, dies"? Ha! I wore it, and I'm okay, aren't I?
Saeko tells the students about an ancient school legend called "The Snow Queen", involving a mask that curses the people who've worn it. After realizing it wasn't a great time to tell it, seeing the student's reaction and the fact they're all already trapped in a tense and scary situation, she tries to lighten the mood by dispelling any superstition surrounding it, brushing it off with confidence and even making fun of it.
I can tell by looking at you that you're not lying, but... I'm just worried you might've lost one of your screws when you fell down, y'know?
Saeko suggests the students get checked at the hospital, though after seeing the worried looks on their faces, tries to reassure them she's doing this for their own good. She tries to dispel the situation by making it less of a big deal, adding some levity by characterizing it in a more amusing light.
Setsuko is Maki's mother. While Maki might think of her as uncaring or evil, that couldn't be further from the truth. Setsuko cares a lot for her daughter, and works overtime at a company she hates in order to pay her medical bills and get her home safely. She's an incredibly worried and anxious person, tending to usually not be very proactive on her own and sulking in her own depression. At the beginning of the story, she starts making a change in her behaviour, deciding to attempt to stop SEBEC ahead of time (Which ends up in her getting shot) and going after Maki after hearing she's not in the hospital.
Setsuko's range is low, primarily due to her age, although a mid-range is also acceptable as long as her worried mother mannerisms are intact.
This system is too dangerous! If we're careless and something were to happen during the operation... In the worst-case scenario, not only our building, but the whole town could be destroyed!
Setsuko is caught red-handed as she tries to shut down the DEVA System, trying in a nervous panic to explain to Kandori why using it is a horrible idea for any semblance of a chance to change his mind, as if he's not already fully aware of what he's doing. She's incredibly terrified, keeping a distance from him and shouting as if to maintain it and due to having a hard time controlling her emotions.
I don't know what to say... I've caused so much trouble for everyone.
Setsuko shudders on top of the nurse bed, severely depressed with her voice shaking. She sees herself heavily responsible for all of this chaos, and in deep regret can't even find the right words to even apologize with for all she's done. She sighs as she depressingly sulks by herself.
