Lobotomized

Project Overview

What is this?

A retelling of the chaotic Lobotomy Corporation game! As a cross between a Let's Play and an Abridged series, Lobotomized is taking the dark story of Lobotomy Corporation and putting a comedic spin on it to get more people into the franchise. This particular project is going to be edited and framed in such a way preserve the gameplay elements, but allow them to be displayed in a more "cinematic" way.

For those of you unfamiliar with the premise: Lobotomy Corporation follows X, a new manager to the aforementioned company, which is tasked with producing energy through interacting with SCP-like creatures known as Abnormalities. X must contend with new monsters to handle every day, a colorful leadership team with just as colorful a past, and both discover and achieve their own personal goal in running this company while morally addressing how it allows employees to die every day!

For Lobotomized, everything is the same, except X is replaced with a character named Chester. (more below)

Requirements:

Since this is a paid project that I am funding out of my own pocket: a significant level of technical and performance quality is going to be expected. Please ensure that your microphone is capable of recording your performance without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping. Simultaneously some of these roles are for larger than life characters who tend to emote HEAVILY- as such most roles will probably involve shouting and even a bit of hamming it up/overacting in some capacity at some time or another so if you cannot commit to the needs of a given role please do not audition as I cannot expect to select someone who cannot give the performance a role requires.

Casting in Regards to Payment:

If you are cast I will not expect you to do any recording for me until you are appropriately compensated for your time. So even when auditions are over and every role is cast: I don't want you to do any recording until you are paid.

Payment is going to be 50% upfront/50% at delivery and acceptance. The listed price is the total price of which you will be paid for your time. That said, I may request retakes after the first delivery. This will not change the payment amount.

Role Significance:

Obviously leading roles are going to be paid the highest amount as they will be appearing most frequently and deserve to be accommodated accordingly, but certain "supporting" and "minor" characters during this project will be much more prominent in later 'seasons'. (For instance, the character Malkuth appears in every episode of this planned 'season', while the character Yesod only appears in a handful of episodes with just as many lines. However, the story is set up in such a way that after this block of episodes, Malkuth and Yesod will essentially switch in amount of time given.) As such the pay for such roles is based on how prevalent the character is during the planned 'season'. This is not a mistake or oversight: each actor is being compensated according to the requirements that will be expected of them.

Payment:

Payments will be made exclusively through PayPal only- if you do not have a PayPal account do not expect to be paid as part of this project.

A few final notes:

1.) I'm a huge fan of this franchise and did initially cast known friends or creators for this project before settling on Casting Call. While the preview may include existing voices- I DO NOT EXPECT YOU TO TRY AND IMITATE OUR PERFORMANCES. Each role will have the suggested guidance and ideal performance parameters I have in mind for each character, but the beauty of acting is taking the same premise or direction and presenting it with your own unique flair.

2.) [Any text in this format down below is NOT to be read when you're auditioning for various parts] this text exists solely to give context to the lines you will be reading.

3.) Discord is not required, but it is recommended as I will utilize it to organize group reads, deliver announcements, and distribute scripts (and a good chance to have a bit of fun with the project and get to know each other).

4) The names of these characters are based on the Jewish Kabbalah. Since there are quite a few interpretations for how they should be pronounced, this video will act as the rule of thumb on how to pronounce every name. Even if you don't pronounce them just like this in the audition, you may still get the role. Just know those are the pronunciations the final project will use - https://youtu.be/-rfX_SlOF0I?t=66

And that's it- if more questions come up I may append an F.A.Q to this section to try and resolve any recurring questions for those reading through this project in the future.

Have fun with it, y'all!

Latest Updates

  • Auditions for Lobotomized are now closed! What's next?

The audition window has now closed! Thank you to everyone who applied! Over the next few days, I'll be listening through all of the different auditions on each character, and messaging those who are a good fit for the part. By default DO NOT expect a reply if you did not get the part. Originally, I had planned to give feedback on each audition. But after learning that it can be a waste of time to regulars, and seeing the number of auditions (seriously, thank you all!), this is no longer the plan. HOWEVER, if you private message me on CCC, I will make it a point to give you a reply with feedback should you be a good fit for the part or not. This way, only those interested will receive feedback. Thank you again for all of your time, and I'm looking forward making a great story together!

Chester

Paid: Flat Rate 100 USD
cast offsite

A grand ray of sunshine with two braincells, Chester (they/them) is the only character in Lobotomized that does not originate from Lobotomy Corporation. They (somehow) got this job straight out of being a barista days ago, and know little to nothing about the company. Chester is determined to not go back home to the point they're willing to wade through the terrors of being indirectly responsible for innumerable deaths. Unfortunately, they're not too ready to harden themselves to that fact and will struggle to balance keeping up the confidence act, while wearing their heart on their sleeve and trying their best to make everyone safe and happy.

The ideal voice actor for this is able to go from quiet to screaming to quiet at the drop of a hat. Expect to do a lot of shocked, nervous, or excited reaction lines as this character. An effeminate male voice is ideal for this Chester (women are absolutely encouraged to audition too!), as quite a few scenes use 'cutesy' or 'motivational' lines as an authority figure. Lastly, this is a character with many of the traits of a shounen protagonist with none of the powers, with some camp and 'queer-coded villain' traits sprinkled in.

*NOTE, there is a chance I will take on this role should there be few or no workable auditions. For that reason, I heavily encourage people to audition for this, as it's not great form for a producer to voice the lead*

  • [Somewhat despondent, asked if everything was alright] Yeah..just a little back pain. It's either from posture, or realizing I'm alone in carrying this emotional burden. Time will tell.

  • [pacing, trying to talk themselves up] It's just like at the coffee shop. Read the manual, follow the recipe, and if anyone asks how it's going, you say it's great even if it feels like there's a weight on your CHEST AND YOU CAN'T BREATHE!

  • [politely supportive, talking to their employee] We both know we're trying, and are probably going to screw up along the way. So the least we can do is stick together. Why beat yourself up?

Angela
open
Paid: Flat Rate 125 USD

Angela is the cool-headed, intelligent, and kind AI secretary to the manager of Lobotomy Corporation. At least, that's how she would describe herself.

As the effective second-in-command of Lobotomy Corporation, she has only one goal for all others beneath her to accept; gain the daily quota of energy at any cost, including employee lives. While she has previously been genuinely kind, Angela has done this for so long that a sort of ennui has set in, and she rarely cares to even open her eyes to see what goes on.

Angela's ideal voice will be someone who knows how to use subtlety to make a character sound both charming and cruel. Any sense of her being an AI only comes across in her composure. Best described as a combination between GladOS and Percival King (Epithet Erased), Angela is a master of 'playing the fool', or 'malicious compliance'. Any sense that people get you are insulting them is purely their misunderstanding, as you couldn't possibly have the capacity to be mean.

  • [Ending a recorded training video] This concludes your training. Manager, I hope we've given you a good idea of your position. A new abnormality is on standby for you process. And should you have any doubt, remember our guiding motto, Face the fear, Build the Future!

  • [Responding to someone who found out someone died] It may please you to know, I've sent a care package to their next of kin, which amounts to six month's salary, as well as a branded rubber duck bath toy.

  • [After being repeatedly given a ridiculous request] Of course, manager. But first, you should know that I was programmed to say 'yes' to any question I consider inane and pointless.

Malkuth
open
Paid: Flat Rate 150 USD

The effective third-in-command and leader of Lobotomy Corporation's Control Team, Malkuth has the authority and responsibility of managing all of her other team leads, yet none of the respect of those leads, nor Angela. What's she to do without that respect? Try harder to be better of course! Malkuth shows a near endless amount of optimism on the surface, but isn't afraid to bark commands like a drill sergeant. While she wants to be kind, her impostor syndrome and the pressures from her role often lead to harsh self-criticism, and passive-aggressive statements towards her peers and subordinates

This role is high energy, and will usually direct that energy either as excitement or anger. The ideal voice will be a slightly higher-pitched woman's voice, (Retsuko or Tsunoba from the Aggretsuko dub for example) capable of either emphatic encouragement or harsh insults to herself or others. The office worker inspiration is strongest here, and will involve many lines to sound professional, and at least one line involving multiple screams. This is the most complex character of the current project, and the ability to perform those lines well will be chosen over having the perfect voice profile.

  • [after being given a complement, unsure of how to respond] Well I certainly do my best. And I'm getting better each day!.. But you must know a loooooot more to get your position here.

  • [passive aggressively trying to end a conversation] Aww, you're so kind! I'd love to catch up more. But it looks like I have a research project to deliver tomorrow. Have a good rest!

  • [Chastising an employee] Sigma! DO NOT try leaving formation. I don't care if you majored in human resources if you're a WASTE of resources!

Hod
open
Paid: Flat Rate 75 USD

The leader of Lobotomy's Training team, Hod is a kindhearted teacher who wants only to do right by her peers. While somewhat of a pushover, Hod stands her ground when it comes to anything involving her responsibilities. Never to speak a bad word about anyone, Hod instead copes with the struggles of Lobotomy Corporation through dark humor, or the rare dose of 'medication' she comes across.

Hod's voice is of the more soft-spoken in this cast, and will predominantly appear in her series of in-universe training videos, rather than in person. Due to that, she speaks with a small formal cadence enough to show she's serious, but never enough to be condescending or fake. If you've got a 'cinnamon roll' voice AND can make it sound rarely ominous, this is the role for you.

  • [As if starting a training video] Welcome to Hod's How-Tos, the only Lobotomy Corporation sanctioned training series...because Angela wouldn't let me talk about health insurance.

  • [Formal, then progressively getting more ominous throughout the statement] Lastly, there's pale damage. The stronger the victim is, the more painful it is. In fact, some agents think that anything that can inflict Pale damage is a messenger from God themselves.

  • [Nervous, but trying to be kind] Hey, Netzach, did you proofread this script? Maybe we should start the equipment episode with something else..

Yesod
open
Paid: Flat Rate 50 USD

Yesod is the blunt, no-nonsense leader of Lobotomy's Information Team. Being prepared is second nature to him, and any plan that he advocates for will always be based on reason instead of emotion. Working at Lobotomy has given him a sense that accidents happen regularly, and that leadership doesn't mean showing empathy or remorse for the fallout, but learning from and adapting to prevent these in the first place. Don't challenge him on that unless you're ready for a sharp-toothed response. Due to this, the other team leads are less likely to directly confront him. Despite that, he sees his job as a duty and not a point of pride.

Yesod is a character that can have a variety of voice profiles, so long as they convey his formal and analytical personality. Anyone with a deeper voice will have an easier time taking this named role than others. But as long as the performance isn't a generic nerd voice, any pitch can work.

  • Malkuth, I have asked you multiple times now to keep the camera on me! You are a team lead, not a child!

  • Hmph. They know there's a rule against running in the halls, right?

  • [As if voicing an educational video] With every bit of energy we collect, we also learn more about the abnormalities. Use this chance to both meet your energy quota, and pick work that prevents potential harm.

Netzach
open
Paid: Flat Rate 50 USD

The resident burnout leader of Lobotomy Corp's Safety Team, Netzach is the closest anyone can get to being a 'bro' in this place. Long since giving up on accomplishing any level of 'Safety' at this company, he copes with the tragedies that regularly come by through excessive drug use. Due to this attitude, he comes off as depressed, lazy, and rude. At the same time, he isn't afraid to call out harmful practices nobody else will, and check in on his peers, even if he doesn't think any good will come from it.

Netzach's voice is prone to being either more gravelly, or breathy than the others, as if many of his sentences are said while he's half-asleep, or fully drunk. He's effectively a cross between an internet boy and a surfer dude. Qrow from RWBY is the best reference, as is Ishigami from Kaguya-Sama, Love Is War.

  • (yawn) Yeah, uh. These abnormalities are basically unpredictable. So we need some extra precautions to keep agents safe.

  • [concerned] I know you heard me. Just be careful, alright? Don't take on anything you can't handle.

  • [annoyed] Your agents' footsteps are pounding my ceiling, and my head. And is that.. a rubber duck?

Extra Agents
open
Paid: Flat Rate 20 USD

While not named, Lobotomy Corporation would be nothing without agents. And there will be anywhere from 1-3 roles given out, with 1-4 lines for each agent. These are characters that know every day here could be their last. And who knows? Maybe that will come up

  • We're holding the line, ma'am. But they keep coming.

  • I could be mistaken, but it looks like there are more of these worms today than usual..

  • More robots just landed! What are your orders?
