Let's Dub: Pokémon Scarlet (VA Casting!)
Project Overview
Hello, and welcome to the first project being hosted by Let's Dub! Pokémon!, a dub of the game Pokémon Scarlet! This project aims to dub over all of the cutscenes in the game, giving this RPG the voices that the franchise has been in dire need of for years now!
-
This project plans on releasing its content in video format, on its official YouTube channel. However, we are open to expanding this project into a mod for the game. If you are interested in this project and having experience in game modding then feel free to message our director, JoceyVA, on Discord (their tag is joceyb23).
-
This casting call is for voice actors needed to dub over the game. We are casting all of the main, named roles featured in the game. If we like your audition but do not end up casting you in a main role, we may contact you to join the team as a background VA.
You must be 16+ to audition for this project. Additionally, all auditions must contain at least two takes of each line, with the format being up to you.
This is a freelance project made to entertain, and as such is unpaid.
While we do not expect professional-quality recordings from every auditionee, we do expect clear mic quality and no background noise.
This casting call will end tentatively on February 3, with a chance to be extended past that date depending on how many auditions we receive. This project will not cast early.
-
We have a zero AI policy in any way, shape, or form.
-
While there are no official crew auditions on this casting call, if you are an editor or an artist and have an interest in joining the team in that way, feel free to once again contact our director on Discord (once again, joceyb23).
-
Happy auditioning, and good luck to all!

Nemona is a ball of energy - always a pleasure to be around, but her sheer willpower can be a lot for some people. Nemona struggles with consistently being the best, and wants to have a rival that she feels that can challenge her.

"I'm Nemona! Normally I live in the school dorms, but home is here. Whaddaya say, new neighbor - wanna be friends? (pause) Love that enthusiasm! We're gonna get along just fine!"
"What do you want to see first? (pause) Hah! I didn't have you pegged for a big eater! But that's smart. You can't battle well with a growling tummy, right?"
"You...YOU DID IT! This is legit incredible! You're the strongest out there, kid! I mean, you knocked me flat, and I was giving you absolutely everything I had!"
Arven serves as another good friend of the protagonist. He's a fellow Naranja Academy student, and the son of Paldea's regional professor, Sada. Arven has a passion for cooking, and his storyline centers around him tracking down the infamous Herba Mystica from various Titan Pokémon to save his partner Pokémon, Mabosstiff. Although Arven looks to be a stereotypical moody teenager, he has a big heart deep down.

"Why, that little...what're you doing out here?! (pause) I'm not talking to you two. You can shove off."
"Doesn't matter who my mom is! The real issue here is what in the world this Pokémon is doing out here! And what is with this form it's in?!"
"It's gonna make you all better, I promise. My friend and I - we really did our best to get this for you. We're gonna play with your favorite ball as much as you want...y'know? Just like we used to."
Penny is the final member of the main friend group in the game, and a fellow Naranja Academy student, doubling as the mysterious Cassiopeia. She's an insecure tech whiz and the secret leader and founder of Team Star. a ragtag group of bullied students. Penny appears distant and awkward, but only out of self-defense due to her past experiences. She learns to value herself and trust her friends over the course of the game.

"Yeah, but...where do I even start? Wasn't the outfit a bit much? Plus I have some big feelings about that wig..."
"Hasta la vistar...the six of us thought up that catchphrase when we created the team. It's so cringy it's perfect, you know?"
Clavell is the director of Naranja Academy, and a reoccurring character throughout the game. He is kind but stern older man. who holds an immense amount of love for his students and Pokémon, but is very adamant about upholding the academy's rules. While the player deals with Team Star, Clavell dons the disguise of Clive, attempting to pose as a student and failing miserably, as his age very much shows.

"On behalf of the academy, I must apologize for the late arrival of your enrollment documents. Ah. And also for my delay in introducing myself. I am the director of Naranja Academy. You may call me Mr. Clavell."
"Could this Pokémon have its origins within Area Zero? Sada...don't tell me you actually did it... (pause) Well, it seems that the professor is asking quite the favor of you. I do hope you'll continue to enjoy your school life, together with that Koraidon.
"Your protracted truancy! Your brazen customization of school uniforms! Your unauthorized usage of academy equipment! Your reckless modification and jeopardous driving of Pokémon-powered vehicles! Need I go on? Your flagrant disregard for school rules cannot simply be overlooked!"
Sada is the professor of the Paldea region, and the mother to Arven. She is a cool, calculated woman whose main interest of study is the phenomenon of Paradox Pokémon in Area Zero. Sada carries an aura of professionalism that seems almost robotic, which is fitting as she died years before the events of the game, and her appearance in the game is truly an AI that the real Sada built.

Age: Adult; Mid-30s/Early 40s
Voice Type: Feminine; Medium-pitched; cold; distant; smooth; despite being an AI, not robotic.

"Hello. It is nice to meet you. My name is Professor Sada. I carry out Pokémon research within the Great Crater of Paldea - at a site known as Area Zero."
"Well. Allow me to get straight to the point. You...you are the student who travels with the unusual Pokémon Koraidon, is that correct?"
"I'm afraid that there is something for which I must apologize. I am not the true Professor Sada. I am an artificial intelligence the professor created, imbued with her memories and knowledge. In short, I am an AI-powered robot. The real professor passed away during the incident that destroyed Research Station No.4."
Geeta is the chairwoman of both Paldea's Pokémon League and Naranja Academy's school board, as well as being the top Champion-ranked Trainer in all of Paldea. These accomplishments led her to be extremely revered throughout Paldea, and known as La Primera. She is a kind and well-meaning woman who just wishes for all to go right in Paldea, but can often appear aloof or mysterious.

"Indeed. Now that you've gathered eight Gym Badges...all that's left is to take on the Pokémon League! If you hope to stand alongside Nemona as a fellow Champion...head to the Pokémon League. That is where you can take on the Champion Assessment."
"Welcome. It gives me great joy that you've managed to make it all the way to the pinnacle of the Pokémon League. The final test is a battle against me, the Top Champion. To pass, all you need to do...is win."
"You go beyond my imagination so easily...such overwhelming power...such amazing skill...it seems Paldea has gained another wonderful Trainer to be proud of. Congratulations. It's my honor to call you a Champion."
Katy is one of the Gym Leaders of Paldea, specializing in Bug-types. She lives in Cortondo and runs its Gym, as well as having her own bakery. Katy is a sweet, soft-spoken woman who believes in the power of both sweets and Bug-types, despite both being small. She is encouraged to keep her battles light and easy, as her Gym is often the first approached by new Trainers.

"Oh? Did I forget to introduce myself? Forgive me. My name is Katy, and I am the owner here at Patisserie Soapberry. Oh? That's right, I'm not in my shop - I'm on duty as leader of the Cortondo Gym right now! Forgive me. Ahem. My name is Katy, and I am the Gym Leader here in Cortondo."
"Little sweets that bring happiness with just one bite, Bug-type Pokémon hiding in foliage...both are small and yet very powerful. Don't let your guard down unless you would like to find yourself knocked off your feet!"
"Your strength rose during our battle like a nice bread in the oven. I feel that I may need to work on my own strength as well."
Brassius is one of the Gym Leaders of Paldea, specializing in Grass-types. He lives in Artazon and runs its Gym, as well as being an artist. Much of the art on display in Artazon was created by him. Brassius is an oddball; he views battling as an artform, evaluating his competitors aesthetically. He speaks with a lot of grandiose, always appearing to be in his own world. He displays a lot of the stereotypical characteristics of a "tortured artist", but without the tragic backstory.

"I am Brassius - an artist specializing in Grass-type Pokémon. I am also the Gym Leader here at the Artazon Gym. I was observing your Gym Test from atop the windmill, you know."
"Yes! It was truly avant-garde! I only pray that you might demonstrate that eye for beauty in our battle as well. Enough talk! We must begin creating our collaborative work of art!"
"The patterns of your moves! The minute details of your Pokémon's performance! Everything you did was honed to perfection! Our battle was, in a word, art! Indeed, if we could not call that a work of artistry, then nothing else in this world could be labeled as such!"
Iono is one of the Gym Leaders of Paldea, specializing in Electric-types. She lives in Levincia and runs its Gym, as well as being a popular online streamer. It's rare to see Iono out in public without livestreaming her experience to the entire internet. Iono is bubbly, high-energy, and full of a lot of spunk, although it's hard to tell how much of that is her real personality, and how much is a persona she's putting on for the cameras.

"Oh snap! Look at you - already a master of Iono-ese! Not your first rodeo, then, eh? And, uh...I hope this doesn't come as too much of a surprise, but you're bein' broadcast live to the world right now! Smile!"
"How're ya feelin' about this battle? (pause) Hey heyyy! We got a lively one here! You'd make a gnarly influencer, friendo! (pause) All righty then! Who's ready to see me kick some butt!"
Kofu is one of the Gym Leaders of Paldea, specializing in Water-types. He lives in Cascarrafa and runs its Gym, as well as working as a chef. He specializes in preparing and serving seafood, and one of his fellow Gym Leaders, Katy, is one of his former culinary students. Kafu is an excitable, honest, and jovial older man who's just pleased at any chance to prepare a meal or battle a challenger.

"Thanks for the help over in Porto Marinada! You did a mighty fine job! And now that I've got that legendary seaweed, I can make some real quality dishes with it! But don' expect me to go easy on you in our battle here!"
"At the auction, we battle with buyin' and sellin'. At my Gym, we battle in a more traditional sense! Moves and tactics - ever-changin' as the raging sea! I'mma serve you a full course o' Water-type Pokémon! Don't try to eat 'em, though!"
"Vaultin' Veluza! Yer a lively one, aren't ya! A little TOO lively, if I do say so myself! Gahaha! A loss as refreshing as the air at the morning market!"
Larry is one of the Gym Leaders and Elite Four members of Paldea, specializing in Normal-types and Flying-types. He runs the Medali Gym, as well as being a business man. Larry always appears to be overworked, tired, and generally done with everything. He isn't an unkind person, just a busy one, who doesn't have time for simple pleasantries (except for a good meal). His demeanor is always completely neutral, rarely showing any emotion other than exasperation.

"I'm Larry. I'm assigned to work as the Gym Leader of the Medali Gym. Good job on making it through the Gym Test. And, well...maybe try the other dishes on the menu too sometimes. Everything's good here. Anyway, my boss will dock my pay if I spend too much time chitchatting."
"I lost, so that means I have to give you a badge, but...that battle made me a bit hungry. Care to join me for a meal? (pause) Oh, and don't worry about the bill. I do earn a salary after all."
"So, you made it this far. I serve as a member of the Elite Four too, yes...unfortunately for me. At my Gym, I use Normal-type Pokémon, since I feel they have a lot in common with me. But, well, the boss told me to use a different type here. So if you have any complaints, please take them up with La Primera."
Ryme is one of the Gym Leaders of Paldea, specializing in Ghost-types. She lives in Montenevera and runs its Gym, as well as being a hip-hop artist with a skill for rapping. Ryme has been regarded as a legendary rapper for decades, ever since one of her Pokémon passed when she was a teenager, and she wrote a song about her grief. Ryme very much carries the vibe of a "cool, older woman", and takes a lot of pride in both her music and her battling.

"I rap what's in my soul, baby. Weavin' words into a symphony of poetry. Don't try it with me - you won't last one round. I'm like Sableye: my Mean Look'll lock you down! Like that! You feel me? (pause) Heh. Well, let's get to it - you're a Pokémon Trainer. So battle me, and show me who you are!"
"Hold up! Where you goin'? That's all you got?! 'After my next shift'? Seriously? Bars over jokes, come on! (pause) That was over way too fast. It gets boring wearin' the crown if no one makes me fight to keep it."
"Hah! Great battle - chilling AND thrilling! You've got spirit, kid. You earned my Gym Badge, all right! And how about a VIP pass for my next show, too?"
Tulip is one of the Gym Leaders of Paldea, specializing in Psychic-types. She lives in Alfornada and runs its Gym, as well as being a model and a makeup artist. Tulip values beauty and physical appearance in herself and in her Pokémon above all else. She is also extremely in tune with her own spirituality, priding herself on keeping her aura positive. Tulip's opinion on others is often based on the aura she sees from them, with an example being her boss, Geeta, who has a "bewitching aura" that Tulip isn't fond of.

"Hello there. I'm Tulip, the Gym Leader here. Though I must tell you that being a makeup artist is my main line of work. (pause) Appearance is equally important for both people and Pokémon. Makeup is like magic. Anyone can use it to change their appearance. Allow me to put my skills to use to make your cute little Pokémon even more beautiful!"
"I suppose you're right. Okay, let's keep things moving here on my end. Let's keep the tag line simple - "Naturally Beautiful". And order the new eye-shadow color too, would you? Thanks, you're a doll. Gotta run now. Chat with you later."
"I lost the battle? And your beauty rivals even my own? I can't believe it. You are quite splendid. Yes, truly amazing! Perhaps I should take you under my wing before you make your big break elsewhere..."
Grusha is one of the Gym Leaders of Paldea, specializing in Ice-types. He lives on Glaseado Mountain and runs its Gym. Grusha used to be a professional snowboarder, until he was severely injured, and could no longer compete in the sport. Now, he's frantic that one day, he'll lose Pokémon battling as well, so puts up a cold, tough front. His aloof, chilly nature makes him a perfect candidate for running an Ice-type Gym.

“Today’s not a great day to face me. You’re better off giving up. Sure you want to battle me?”
Rika is a member of the Paldea Elite Four, specializing in Ground-types. She's young, wry, and carries a bit of a mischievous streak. However, she'll always be the first to poke fun at her fellow Elite Four members.

"Pray forgive my sudden entry. 'Tis I, Atticus! You're that scoundrel, I take it? You have some nerve baring your fangs at Team Star. Come, then, villainous wretch! A plunge into grim poison shall be your well-deserved fate. En garde!"
"Naught but punishment awaits thee, wretch! A plague on your house! Certain moves can poison with a mere graze. Tremble, scoundrel, for thy Pokémon's sake."
"The way of the ninja is rough and fraught with thorns. I neither expect nor desire sympathy from the unrefined rabble."
Ortega is a student at Naranja Academy, and one of the bosses of Team Star. He specializes in Fairy-types. Ortega is a short-tempered, wealthy kid that has a talent for engineering, having built all of Team Star's Starmobiles himself. Despite coming from a rich family with a lot of influence in Paldea, Ortega experienced a lot of bullying when he started school. He has a bit of a whiney, bratty personality (influenced by his privileged lifestyle), but has a soft side deep down.

"Well, whatever! I don't care who you are! Not like I'm gonna lose to you anyway. If you think Fairy-types are all about cuteness, you're in for a nasty surprise!"
"I promise I'll play nice, so don't blame me when this battle sends you blubbering back home! (pause) Did you just realize how outmatched you are? If you wanna give up, now's the time!"
"Arrrghhh! What the HECK!!! I told you - it's not a toy! It's called the Starmobile, and I was up all night building it! (pause) I'm sorry...I really thought it would work...there's no point if it doesn't work, is there? If I knew all that effort would have zero payout, I'd have just asked Mother to buy a car for us..."
Eri is a student at Naranja Academy, and one of the bosses of Team Star. She specializes in Fighting-types. Eri serves as a sort of "big sister" figure to the team, acting as a mediator and helping the other members train their Pokémon. "Doesn't matter who you are. I'll bury anyone who tries to take down Team Star! This time, I won't run away...this base is precious to us! I won't let this raid of yours go any further!"
"I'm so sorry...I think I went a little too far...you all really should take a break. I'll go for a run while you rest up! (pause) Thank you for your concern, Atticus. But lately...I feel like I can take anything. Even if I'm really tired or feel like crying."
"Remember that time we all got together and riffed on the Gym Badge designs to create our very own Star Badges? Well, I don't know what it is, but just looking at my Star Badge makes me feel so strong...like I want to give it my all!"

"Hello, hello. I hear you went out on your Treasure Hunt and wound up becoming a Champion. That's quite the achievement! I guess I'm the homeroom teacher for two Champion Rank students now. I won't lie - I'm feeling a wee bit of pressure here! I've got to work hard so my students don't outshine me too much, huh?"
"Once I got here, I decided to do a bit of research on the Pokémon here, and - oh! That's right! Sorry! I got so engrossed in my own research that I actually forgot to come find you, didn't I? Well, how about I make it up to you by treating you to a picnic?"
"Please do NOT - I repeat - DO NOT take on the Tera Raid there! I mean it! Don't read into that like there's some hidden meaning! Sorry for getting you involved in this only to ask you to step away, but...whatever you do, do NOT go looking for these black crystals!"

"Oh, my. Hahaha. Thank you for your honest responses. Some of you may like numbers, and some may not. I think that makes a wonderful mix. But no matter your opinion on math, I hope you find yourselves enjoying our lessons together! I'll do my best to find a good way to match up your interests with all types of math lessons!"
"It sure is nice to get a little bonus like that on a shopping trip, isn't it? (pause) Oh, my. Is that the bell? I suppose that's all for now. What a shame...I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the next class. I hope you're looking forward to it, too!
"All right, everyone. Time is up! Put your hands on your laps, now. You were all concentrating so hard. I can't wait to see how you did."

"My dear students! How ARE you all today? Feeling good, I hope? Je m'appelle Salvatore. My name is Salvatore! Merci beaucoup! That is, thank you very much for your attention here in my class!"
"This doesn't only apply to people in other regions, either! It's the same for all of you, too! You can put this tip to use with your classmates! How about you all try complimenting each other after class? I bet it will make for an ambience plus sympathique - a more friendly atmosphere!"
"Je t'aime! Te amo! Ich liebe dich! These three phrases you may know, I think! Why? Because they're all quite famous ways to say "I love you"! (pause) Oh, my! Have I embarrassed you all, my friends? What timides little garcons et filles- shy boys and girls, that is!"

"You're...ah, yes, from class 1-A. The way you conduct yourself in my class and the answers you give to my questions...I admit they pique my interest. You are quite the interesting pupil, I must say."
"A vessel, a sword, a set of tablets, and a set of beads...after obtaining these four treasures, the king's castle was destroyed. Why, you ask? Because these four treasures were actually four Pokémon!"
"I'd rather go myself, of course, but skipping out on my classes to go adventuring seems to have made the director a little suspicious of me...heh. You can think of it as part of your Treasure Hunt."
Saguaro is the home economics teacher at Naranja Academy. His classes focus mostly on cooking, and has a reputation among his students as being cool, stylish, and aloof. "Welcome to the home economics classroom. I consider this to be my very own castle of sorts. (pause) Rumors of your activities always seem to be bombarding me from all sides. People from all over have been talking about how strong of a battler you are and the amazing Pokémon you take along with you."
"I am observing the nutritional content of the food that our students partake of on a regular basis. One time on the menu here that I am particularly interested in is the peanut butter sandwich. It is sweet and quite delicious. Yes...perhaps I will order one right now."
"So this...THIS is Sweet Herba Mystica! I must - yes! - I must create something with it right away! It's so...very...SWEET! My! What ambrosial sweetness! It is like a sweeter honey. A MUCH sweeter honey."

"Hey there! Come on in! Everyone's welcome in the nurse's office! What brings you here today? I don't see anything super wrong with you or your Pokémon..."
"Sorry, were you looking for me? I've been away from the nurse's office lately. Did you need something from me? (pause) Here ya go. A little first aid. You must really be having an adventure out there, judging from those scrapes and cuts!"
"Thank you so much! I saw you pushing yourself real hard with your Treasure Hunt, and that really inspired me. Of course, MOST of the credit for my success goes to my own hard work, though! Hehe."
