Project Overview
Knockout is a free to play murder-mystery adjacent visual novel that focuses on four girls’ ways of coping and finding themselves after the murder of their close friend. While there is a mystery to uncover, the game focuses on how they react to changes in their lives rather than the mystery itself. Grief is never a simple concept, so what do four teenage girls do with themselves when their worlds end?
Four perspectives show you four different views of grief, and four unique worlds that these friends seem to find themselves in. Between family secrets, Complicated friendships and internal struggles, how simple can moving on really be?
Knockout is set in a made-up country that is similar to England, in the fictional town of Cosmos.
THIS PROJECT CONTAINS TRIGGERING SUBJECTS SUCH AS MURDER, SUICIDE, PANIC ATTACKS AND MENTAL ILLNESS.
Please note that this project is 16+, and strictly prohibits the use of ai! Also, this is my first time directing a project so development may be slightly slow as I'm working things out but please be patient with me!
Submission Format:
Please audition in ABCABC format! Please also put your age range (if you're a minor or adult) and discord in your submission!
All of the sprites are being worked on currentlt, but I've attached the one sprite that we have completed at the moment.

Lynne Damaris is the sweet, overly positive best friend. No matter the situation, she always faces it with a bright smile and a couple of comforting messages for her friends. She's afraid of confrontation and danger. Needed a strong emotional range!
She has a softer-sounding voice, but feel free to put your own interpretation on it!

(Casual) I’ve told most of it before. You both know about my amnesia, right?
(Sad) …I’m scared that I’m going to forget her face, Stelle.
(Angry) You’re missing my point again! I don’t know why we’re even investigating at all! Why don’t we- I don’t know, leave it to the police?
Arielle (Ari) Viatto is a warm and funny character. She is sarcastic, a little too chronically online, but cares deeply about people in her life. She is very secure in herself, and dresses however she finds most comfortable. She has a mid-lower voice, and is very enthusiastic! Needed a strong emotional range!
Her voice is fully up to interpretation, but an Asian actor is very much preferred.

(Concerned) Look, Stella. I don’t care what’s happened to you in the past. I want you to be safe.
(Distressed) I don’t want everything to be okay right now! Nothing should be okay! Things shouldn’t get back to the way they were before!
(Angry) Stella Azua! What is the matter with you!
Nova Heart is a calm girl, normally. When she's with her friends, she transforms into a new person. She's suddenly outgoing, fun to be around, and incredibly happy. She's quieter most of the time, and has a mid-high voice range! Needed a strong emotional range!
Her personality can be interpreted any way, but a black VA is heavily heavily prefered!

(Calmly) You have such beautiful hair.
(Joking) Shut up, Ari. You know well that I would do anything for you. You’re just the only one being mean to them!
Melanie is a fun, typical online teenage girl. She's unserious a lot of the time, but can quickly get incredibly scary when she's passionate about getting something. She has a higher voice, and is very energetic.

(Mocking) Hm. So you really are that stupid.
(Serious) Well, the truth is, I just don’t like you.
Marcella is a slightly high-and-mighty singer from a band. However, she uses her position to her advantage, using it to collect information about people. She thinks that she's better than a lot of people, causing her to be bored when talking to them. She has a very casual way of speaking, with a mid voice range. A Hispanic VA is heavily preferred for this role!

Stella's mother. She's cold, but protective of her child. She's very paranoid about every slight danger. She lacks empathy. She speaks in quite a monotone way, with a mid tone voice.

I’m Iris Azua, a private detective. I specialize in murder cases.
(Offended) Excuse me? I can treat my daughter how I see fit.
(Tired) These things aren’t as black and white as you girls see it.
Lilli is an idealised teenage girl that is suprisingly humble. She's perfect, but still has time to be kind to others.
She has a higher voice and should be played by an Asian actor.

(Exhausted) Bleughhhhh…
(Slightly sad) Sorry, guys. I’m not feeling it. I think I’m just gonna go home.
There are only a few lines. This is an interregator. It is not a big role at all. In fact, he does not have a name.
A slightly creepy male voice is preferred for this, with a mid-lower range.

(Creepy) We need to put a smile back on your pretty little face!
(Creepy) Luckily, i’m not sure anyone can argue you’re mentally sane. I mean, look at those eyes!
Preferably female, and very concerned about her students. She tends to favour Stella, as she has a high social status.
This is an incredibly minor role, with only a few lines at the beginning of the prologue. Mid range voice.

(Incredulous) Do you have any hobbies? Dreams? Ambitions? Friends? Your life can’t possibly be that boring.
(Genuine) Thank you, Stella. See, that wasn’t nearly as hard as you thought it was!
