Hopeless Destiny
Project Overview
Hopeless Destiny is a passion-driven rhythm game project (derived from the rhythm game Friday night funkin') focusing on a dark, psychological, and narrative heavy take on some Undertale AUs. We combine original art, music, and voice acting to create a mature, cinematic experience (Anime-style cinematics).
Current Status & Scope
We are currently working on our introductory animated teaser. We already have basic concept art and composers creating the initial tracks. Following the teaser, our development plan will be structured around modular releases one song (with its corresponding narrative and animation) per update. We are in the early scripting stage, so we aim to establish a solid narrative flow.
Creative Vision
Our goal is to translate the deep, literary storytelling of Undertale into a raw visual, musical, and sensory experience. We aim to convey psychological tension and dramatic intensity, fine-tuning the tone in collaboration with the team based on our reference materials.
Workflow & Commitment
This is a 100% voluntary, unpaid project. Your personal life and mental health are the absolute priority. We maintain flexible deadlines, except for key milestones like the teaser launch. We simply ask for open communication if you need to step away, so we can keep production organized.
Recognition
You will receive full credit for your work within the game, on social media, and across distribution platforms. Additionally, we plan to include funny elements and special artwork featuring the entire team on the credits screen (or something like that).
Open Roles:
Voice actor / Actresses (VA)
Narrative Designer
Leave your Discord username along with your auditions so you can be contacted if selected.
You can apply for more than one role, and doing so will be viewed favorably.
As the director (artist and animator), I don’t have all the technical answers for every area, and I’ll have questions along the way. I’m looking for people who are excited about proposing and exploring ideas together and having creative freedom, rather than just following strict instructions. If the project’s vision excites you and you want to grow with us in an environment that is still evolving... welcome! :)
Narrative Designer: Responsible for shaping the lore, horror, and dramatic structure of the project.
Strong storytelling experience, an ability to write psychological horror, and an interest in pacing the narrative around musical cues.
You will help solidify and bring greater coherence to the game's flow in relation to the reference material, offering ideas and suggestions on how to approach and execute what we want to convey (regarding voice lines and composition).
So, you should really like Undertale, haha :D

Frisk:
Type: Non-verbal / Vocalist (Chromatic Scale & Cutscene SFX)
A young boy gripped by constant terror in a bleak, inhospitable world. While he has no spoken dialogue, the actor will provide visceral vocalizations—trembling breaths, whimpers, and quiet gasps of determination during critical cutscenes. Additionally, the performer must deliver clean, sustained vowel sounds (A, E, I, O, U) to construct Frisk’s primary chromatic scale for rhythm gameplay when selected.
Asriel
Role Type: Voice & Musical Tracks
Energetic, sweet, and emotionally grounded. Asriel acts as a warm beacon of hope amidst the game’s dark atmosphere, a loyal best friend whose gentle, earnest voice provides comfort during your lowest moments. The performance requires a soft, youthful tone capable of shifting from joyful encouragement to quiet sorrow.

Frisk| *You just fell from a great height, breaking your arm, and in severe pain you try to stand up, breathing heavily and groaning*
Asriel| Mom... Do you think we'll go to the surface one day?
A high pitched, sweet, and sing songy voice, reminiscent of a cartoon character. Its transitions are drastic and erratic: in a split second, it shifts to a raspy, deep, and sinister tone as the character's twisted mindset is revealed, finally cracking into desperate fragility when things don't go according to plan and control is completely lost. Additionally, the performer must deliver clean, sustained vowel sounds (A, E, I, O, U) to construct Flowey’s primary chromatic scale for rhythm gameplay when selected.

Well well, look who arrived.
Step one... DIE!
I'm literally a living nightmare!!!
A young woman. Her natural voice is soft, sweet, and almost uninflected—like a constant whisper. She speaks with a measured pace that conveys gentleness, yet in moments of tension or fear, that sweet tone becomes fragile and halting, revealing her vulnerability even when she feels hollow inside. Additionally, the performer must deliver clean, sustained vowel sounds (A, E, I, O, U) to construct Vessel’s primary chromatic scale for rhythm gameplay when selected.

I... love this...
I can't. I can't run anymore
A mature woman with a warm, unhurried, and maternal voice, yet one worn down by loneliness. Her speech conveys a comforting quality that grows erratic as she loses her sanity; her gentle tone is interrupted by disoriented pauses moments where her mind goes completely blank incoherent murmurs, or lapses of amnesia, until her voice finally breaks, shifting into an unfamiliar, distant, and shattered tone as she forgets who she was. Additionally, the performer must deliver clean, sustained vowel sounds (A, E, I, O, U) to construct Toriel’s primary chromatic scale for rhythm gameplay when selected.
