Project Overview

Hey guys, I'm WrenInDoubt I'm just your average VA wannabe but I happen to also be a longtime TTRPG enthusiast, a Dungeon Master to be exact. Anyways I'm planning on hosting some Halloween Superhero Oneshots throughout the month of October to introduce as much people as I can to the Masks: A new Gen System. Yeah I know, you don't need to know that part so I'll get straight to the point.

I've been planning a couple of scenes to playout for some of my players and although I can practically voice the NPCs myself, I've been feeling a bit audacious enough to push a bit further. I figured there's plenty of people here more talented than me, why not ask them for assistance? So here I am, searching for one Batman and one Boy Wonder (amongst many others).

I've roped in a couple of VA's already to participate, voicing characters such as Wonder Woman, Flash, and Blue Beetle just to name a few. And I might just have a few more added here in a couple of days. (Starfire and Raven would be good NPCs to have for this Oneshot once I have their lines set!) Anyways, excited to hear your best takes!

  • Battle for the Cowl: Aftermath

    Apologies for taking a while, it was just that tough a call. But the deliberations have finally ended. I'd like to congratulate Ryan Woods and Vaiko V:C for taking up the roles of Batman and Boy Wonder respectively! I will reach out to you guys shortly for the next steps of this project.

    To those of you who came close, I truly wish I could pick all of you. It was a difficult choice, it really was. But it was also tremendous to hear such wonderful takes from each and everyone of you. Know that I will definitely keep you in mind for more roles in the future. Thank you for participating in this battle for the cowl!

    Hey guys! It looks like plenty of new folks have joined us recently! Thank you guys, it means a lot that more and more people have taken interest in this humble project of mine.

    I’ll be brief, I’m planning on closing the Dynamic Duo roles by tomorrow (as soon as I wake up!) But I’m thinking of extending the deadlines for the newly added roles since the schedule for the Session had been pushed back even closer to Halloween! This gives me plenty of prep time so it’s not such a bad thing all things considered.

    Once again, I’d like to thank those who’ve submitted their takes and I’m looking forward to (and dreading) the final deliberation. Let’s go for one more push y’all! 💪

  • Month of Mischief and Mayhem Incoming!

    Hey guys sorry for the lack of updates, I've been real busy prepping for the game (ugh among other things). Why can't Halloween come sooner! Actually, maybe that's a good thing. Batman knows I needed that prep time, but moving on!

    First, I wanna thank all those who've submitted their takes! It blows me away how many signed up to take this silly project on and I'm even more astonished (maybe even conflicted) by the amount of quality takes that were submitted. I'm almost certain I lost a handful of roles because of some of y'all! Yeah, I recognize some of you! For shame!

    Jokes aside, I'm planning on leaving the roles open for another week but I might just close it early because its already getting difficult to choose who to assign to the current roles.

    That being said, I'm planning on opening up a handful of new roles such as Starfire, Raven, & Cyborg. So keep an eye out for that!

    Thanks again for all those who've participated. Let's aim for a spook-tacular Halloween y'all!

Starfire has a few scenes in the game that I want to play out. Its mostly her flirting/distracting Nightwing while he's stuck on Dispatch duties due to his injuries. They're my fave DC power couple so I couldn't just leave her out for this oneshot. Also, keep in mind that this Starfire is not as clueless/naive as the Starfire from the OG Teen Titans animated series. You're better off using the Animated Films as reference. I'm still in the middle of tweaking the dialogue for them but essentially, during their flirty moments, they were politely (albeit embarrassingly) reminded that they are still in fact on the line for everyone on the team to hear... whoops!

Here's the full exchange (hope it helps):
SF: "Your leg's broken, your ribs are bruised, and your face..." (Worried but also cheeky)
NW: "I appreciate the Inventory, Star." (Serious or dense)
SF: "I am simply determining how much of you remains functional." (Teasing/Playful)
NW: "Oh yeah? How 'bout I let you conduct a more thorough examination later?" (Teasing back)
SF: "That depends. How thorough do you want me to be?" (See what fits)
C: "Guys. Do I need to remind you you're both still on the line?" (Serious, maybe even embarrassed for them)
R: "Oh no! Don't stop there, it was just getting to the good part!" (Sarcastic/Dry or something else that fits)

I'm looking for a voice closer to Bruce Greenwood (think Young Justice and most of the newer animated films). The tone is serious since you're relaying mission details. This role has the longest lines but a previous VA who took a shot at it managed to keep it all under 43 seconds. Besides that, I am a little worried about sibilance since the lines do have plenty of SSS-words stitched close together, so be careful.
