GLORY DAYS (2D Student Film)
Project Overview
Aging superhero ‘Gale Force’ struggles to reconcile past and present when an old nemesis decides to turn his life around.
This film is a 2D animated superhero short film produced at the University of Hertfordshire. It is split across two time periods: the past (formatted like a Saturday morning cartoon) and the future (a gloomy, stormy night with a style closer to my own work.) Then, as the confrontation comes to a head, the time periods converge, as Gale begins to lose his sense of time and self.
The film will require two voice actors to fill the roles of 'Gale Force,' the man who can't let go of his golden age as a beloved hero, and 'Professor Felix Fenix,' the mad scientist who wants to leave crazy schemes behind and live a normal life. Please review the role descriptions to see if you are a good fit and please watch the animatic for a better understanding of the film concept!
Preliminary deadline for finding my Gale and Fenix is Feb 4th. Good luck and happy auditioning!

Gale Force is the main character of 'Glory Days,' a short film about an aging superhero meeting with his arch rival for the final time before he turns a new leaf. It plays around with time and shows Gale at two different points in his life, which is an integral factor when considering voice work.
Applicants must be able to act as a youthful and gallant Superman or All Might-esque character that fits with the 60's Saturday morning cartoon vibe of the film's first half, as well as a jaded, older version of the character who is prone to anger and frustrated that his golden years are behind him. Balancing these two voices is vital to landing the role.
For voice reference, All Might is the best example, with his muscular form being best for Young Gale Force and his normal form being best for the older version. Also please look into deliveries from old cartoons such as 'Superfriends' and similar shows from that 60's - 70's era, as well as the animatic for intonation (and to laugh at my crappy scratch audio).
I have offered some audition lines, but the dual-voice-style nature of the film, means that sampling extra lines from the animatic may allow me to get a better understanding of your performance of each version of the character.

Worry not, citizens! Gale Force is here to save the day! (Young Gale Voice)
You can't fool me, Fenix! I'll put a stop to your villainy once again! (Older Gale Voice)
A new life... (Older Gale Voice)
Professor Felix Fenix is the villainous antagonist of 'Glory Days,' a short film about an aging superhero meeting with his arch rival for the final time before he turns a new leaf. It plays around with time and shows Fenix at two different points in his life, which is an integral factor when considering voice work.
Applicants must be able to act as a shrill, mad scientist character, similar to Doctor Doofenshmirtz or other comedic villains, that fits with the 60's Saturday morning cartoon vibe of the film's first half, as well as an older, calmer and better adjusted version of the character who is visibly and audibly aged and is beginning to find peace within himself. Balancing these two voices is vital to landing the role.
For voice reference, Doctor Doofenshmirtz really is the best example, but feel free to have your own take on the character as long as it feels crazy and in-keeping with the character shown in the animatic. The older version should lose almost all of the comedic delivery and pivot into sincerity, while still noticeably being the same person. It will be a hard role to pull off, but I look forward to seeing what everyone has to offer. Also please look into deliveries from old cartoons such as 'Superfriends' and similar shows from that 60's - 70's era, as well as the animatic for intonation (and to laugh at my crappy scratch audio).

Ah, Gale Force. Right on schedule. You're just in time to see my grand scheme reach its ignition point! (Young Fenix)
I'm done with villainy, really! (Old Fenix)
I'm just... all burnt out, Gale. We've done this arch rival business for twenty years. (Old Fenix)
