Experimental Metalcore Band inspired by Bring Me The Horizon
Project Overview
Make sure to include your Discord username on your auditions, so we are able to reach out to you if interested!
About the Band
Our band is named REPRESSED ANGELS. We are a metal band primarily focusing on genres like Metalcore, Post-Hardcore, and Nu Metal, with the goal of also experimenting with and combining those genres with electronic music genres such as Hyperpop, Drum n Bass, Breakcore, etc. Our primary influences include Bring Me The Horizon, Ennaria, The Architects, Spiritbox, Motionless in White, Bad Omens, Babymetal, From First To Last, and I Prevail. The idea for the band actually came about due to Bring Me The Horizon's 'Post-Human: Nex Gen' album and wanting to try and continue that sort of sound and even expand upon it.
As for myself, my name is Kris. I am a 23 year old non-binary (they/them) music producer from the United States with primarily a background in EDM. I grew up playing many indie games such as Undertale, Night In The Woods, and Five Nights at Freddy's - and I tend to take inspiration from and take aspects that I like from all of those fandoms into my music. If you listen closely, you can even hear a lot of Undertale sound effects quietly in the background of many of the demos posted, haha.
What We Need
We are in a bit of a difficult spot right now, as circumstances have made it so that our current lead vocalist can no longer contribute as much as we would have all liked - and similarly, our primary guitarist isn't able to contribute as much either. So we are hoping to bring on an additional vocalist and guitarist into the band. Please note that having a Discord account is required, as that's where we will all be communicating, and that we are looking for someone who can be active and participating in discussions and jam sessions (though, we are accommodating if anything comes up which prevents you from contributing as much or at all.)
Compensation
While I consider REPRESSED ANGELS mostly a hobby project with no real expectation to make any big money off of it, I do offer compensation to members in the form of revenue sharing. Like I said, I tend to think of everyone as equals in these kinds of creative projects, so any revenue made off of music streaming on sites like Spotify, Tidal, etc will be split equally between all members.
Again, I can't guarantee any of us will make money off of this, but I have made about 800$ total off of my music on Spotify so far and have over 1.76k subscribers to my YouTube channel, so I'd say we have slightly higher chances than most.
We are looking for someone to provide the main vocals for the songs. We will need someone that is able and comfortable with doing clean/melodic style of singing, though being able to do growl/scream vocals in addition is also encouraged!
For each song, we will generally require the following tracks:
- Main vocal line
- Left and right doubles (2 tracks) for choruses/(potentially)breakdowns
- (Depending on the song) High Harmonics
- (Depending on the song) Low Harmonics
Being a songwriter/being able to write your own lyrics is also heavily encouraged. While the rest of us can help with/write lyrics, I would be lying if I said that it was any of our strong point. And, after all, you're going to be center stage, might as well bring your own ideas that you're comfortable with doing, right?
For the sake of transparency, we will also be using a lot of effects and digital processing - at least on the debut album - to give the vocals more of a 'robotic' or digital sound, though the amount of processing will vary depending on the track. However, we don't want to rely on effects/autotune to get good sounding vocals, we only want to use effects to enhance the original performance.

[Option 1] Take an existing demo from the examples above and pick out your favorite section to adlib/improvise over.
[Option 2] Cover your favorite metalcore song or provide an example of a past cover you've done.
[Option 3] Provide an example of one of your past original songs that feature your vocals.
We are looking for someone to replace the virtual guitars in (most) of the demos with actual guitar recordings. Being able to play pretty fast is a requirement, though that's kind of a given due to the genre. If you can't play "perfect" that's fine, especially because it is my personal belief that imperfections can sometimes enhance a song. However, preferably, we'd like to do minimal editing to achieve proper timing.
We are also looking for someone to deliver raw DI recordings (meaning without any amp or effects applied) as we will be applying our own amps and effects for the final songs. However, of course, that doesn't mean you can't use your own amps/effects to demo while recording, and you are free to give your input on the final tone.
For each song, we will require at least 2 mono recordings for the right and left channels for doubling, possibly more if the song contains any lead guitar parts/solos or any other extra guitar effects not otherwise part of the main rhythm sections.
If you also happen to own and know how to play extended range guitars (7-9 strings) we also usually put another low tuned guitar layer an octave lower than the main rhythm parts that we would also love to replace with actual recordings. However, it's not a hard requirement, as we're mainly focused on the main rhythm segments.
The majority of the songs were arranged for/recorded in Drop C tuning, with some songs dipping slightly lower or higher.
