Experiment: ISOLATION - Casting Call
Project Overview
Aim: Explore the limits and/or advantages of one's trauma or loneliness
Hello and thank you for visiting the casting call for Experiment: ISOLATION! Currently, all characters except for Marianne are open for audition. Here are some things you should know about this casting call:
- Although there will be no double casting, auditioners are encourage to try out for multiple parts!
- Please do not audition if you are under the age of 15! This game explores some dark themes which are mentioned later.
- Following the above, payment is being considered for voice roles! In order to not scare away auditioners who only look to audition for fun, prices haven't been listed. However, once cast members are contacted I'm happy to discuss payment! Please keep in mind I'm a little broke.
- Accents are listed alongside characters. These are not compulsory but a suggestion! However, a good delivery of an accent may give someone leverage over other auditions.
- Please have good audio quality! Any audio that does not sound fit to be in a professional production will be dismissed! This doesn't mean you absolutely must have a professional microphone, but please just make sure the quality of the audio doesn't include background noise, buzzing or static and that your voice is clear and there's no interference. Good audio quality is highly valued.
- You must be able to act! Experiment: ISOLATION explores many sensitive and emotional topics, so a good display of acting is also highly valued!
If you're wondering what the order of leverage is, it's (Good audio quality > Good acting skills > Ability to do an accent). Roles won't be decided based off this structure, but it's the mindset it will be operating under. - Experiment: ISOLATION explores dark themes for the purpose of bringing light and a message to those who are struggling with the same situations. That said, actors will be exposed to their characters' often traumatic story, behaviours and messages. Trigger warnings will be listed alongside characters who need them. If you find you don't feel comfortable with the themes mentioned, please don't audition for that character.
- Following the above, Experiment: ISOLATION does contain themes of: murder, trauma, transphobia, survivor guilt, homelessness, parental neglect and abuse, drugs, police brutality, the mafia, divorce, cults and spiritual healing and violence. If any of these make you uncomfortable, please exercise caution when auditioning.
- You must be able to commit to the project. Although deadlines will not be strict, you will be expected to stick to your role and deliver lines in time.
- This project will most likely be organised over discord, so please make sure you have an account! If you are cast, you will most likely first be contacted on this website then sent a link to a discord group!
Here's what I'm looking for in each mentioned role!:
Voice Actors:
- The ability to act and emote through your character well
- Good quality audio
- Comfortability in addressing the story of the character
Artists
- Ability to stick closely to the style but also include their own
- Fluid and correct anatomy and colouring
- General creativity for promotional, CGS and character art
Once auditions close, it will take some times to finalise roles so please be patient! Thank you for your continued support of Experiment: ISOLATION!

Note: Sometimes you might look at the order of names and go "this looks a bit different!" which is because I try to shuffle them around to put roles I need a few more auditions on at the top!

Latest Updates
-
Originally, the deadline for submissions was June 30th 2021. However, due to fast developments with the game and a confident knowledge of which auditions are likely to be cast, this date will be moved to June 20th 2021, 11:59pm AEDT. Approximately two weeks from the date this update has been published. All characters will still be open until that date. This is just a notification for those waiting to audition that the deadline has been changed.
Erica is explosive and holds people at a clear distance. He hates the law and prefers to play by her own rules. There's nothing she hates more than being told what to do and she especially hates figures of authority. Otherwise, she's headstrong and doesn't sugarcoat her words. The voice actor should be able to express openly and feel comfortable performing at high volumes. For reference, listen to Yuki Takamiya from 13 Sentinels:Aegis Rim
Pitch : Medium - low.
(introducing herself rudely at first, but then cooperating) Whatever. Friends call me Reeree, but law assholes like you call me Boss. ...Erica. But it’s Boss to you, hear me?
A member of the law, eh? Then I guess you better watch where you’re stepping because I love nothing more than to spit on the shoes of high-and-mighty assholes like you. Parading around with your “I’m doing it for justice” bullcrap? Tch.
Let’s face it, as much as you wanna try and explain what’s going on here, there’s no way to tell what this is. But, there's also no way we just ended up here.
Auburn is one of the more mature people in the group. Despite his asocial demeanour, he's a forensics genius and figures things out pretty quickly. He's clever and he knows it. That said, he talks a lot like a dad friend. He often struggles to relate with people his age and can't find a way to be relevant to them, reverting to a 'are ya winning son?' attitude. He shouldn't be angry all the time, but just someone who's clever but socially out-of-tune. For reference, look at Zenkichi Hasegawa from Persona 5: Strikers.
Pitch : Medium
(introducing himself) Your age? Oh right, we are the same age. Kinda hard to tell by looking at you. My name's Auburn. Considering our circumstances, I don't believe a surname is needed.
(trying to be friendly, then losing his vibe) Ahaha, come now. God, you look like something's hit you up the head! Haha... Hey uh... gloves? I'm only filling the void with obnoxious laughter so you can do something interesting.
(disappointed) Ohhh myyy- Is there anything I can do that won’t surprise you!? But yeah, just what I’ve spent my entire life doing, nothing special. You run along now, go make some friends, shoo.
Cass is frantic and constantly panics when people tries to talk to her, however once you get you know her she calms down a bit. She's not used to many people since she often wants to be alone, which she talks about often. She hardly contributes to the group out of fear she'll say something wrong, but often helps ask important questions. Her voice actor should be able to be expressive with her. Again, accents are completely optional but will give you an edge if performed well. For reference, listen to Futaba Sakura from Persona 5
Pitch : Medium - high
(trying to introduce herself) ….I feel like I’m forgetting something. I-I’m so sorry can you please repeat what you just- wait no I remember now! My name! Yeah! I’m Brass- I mean Class- I mean Cass! Cass is my name!
Gaahhh! There’s more of you?! Jeez, I haven’t been forced to talk to this many people since-
Guhhh! W-What makes you think you can just walk up to me? Actually, did we meet? Ok! Ok ok ok! I’m moving, I’m moving!
Natalia is stern, blunt and intelligent. She knows what needs to be done and addresses it openly. She has a very stable voice, rarely shaking or revealing too much. She isn't overly emotive, but actors should be able to show hints of what she may be feeling in their performance. For reference, see Okino Tsukasa from 13 Sentinels:Aegis Rim
Male voice actors are encouraged to try out for this role! While not being overly flamboyant, males who feel comfortable producing a feminine voice are encouraged and even highly valued for this role! Of course, female actors are just as accepted.
Pitch : Medium - low
Accent (faint) : English
(introducing herself) Quill. Good to see you again. Allow me to introduce myself once again. I’m Natalia Greenwood, second child to Gregory Greenwood and currently enrolled in Kingsmore Secondary Private College. Please, don’t be humble. State your family name as well.
(bluntly) A pleasure to meet you. Sincerely. Now, if you have any information I suggest you begin to disclose it.
(frustrated at the lack of communication) Hey, we’re all working towards a common goal here. If you think you can hide information from us then you’re only going to hurt yourself.
Marcelline is eccentric and a trickster. She claims to be a phantom thief and constantly looks to mess with the other participants. She also has a very primal mindset and will do anything to survive. Her voice should be able to emote easily and keep up with her energy. Her voice should also have a theatrical/grandiose edge to it when she gloats about her 'phantom thievery'.
Pitch : High
(grandly) Marcelline the Phantom Thief! Only the greatest! Treasure? Confiscated evidence? Hearts? All in the palm of my hand~
*snicker* GAHAHAHAA a lawyer?! That’s!- Ahahaha so laaaame! Gaahh go hit the books law boy. Sorry but a law boy has nothing on a great phantom thief as such.
Gah, lady you’re talking my ears off! Anyway, what the hell are we meant to do about it with this small group? Maybe we could sit here and whine some more, buuut my ass was made for moving sooo.
Bernard is the friendly giant of the group. Despite his rough demeanour, he's relatively pacifist and doesn't trust easily. He's someone who does look for the best interest in people but also keeps his distance. He carries burdens which make it hard for him to connect wholeheartedly with others. That said, his voice should be steady and ready to convey any other emotion. While Bernard isn't radical, he does express some intense emotions.
Pitch : Medium - low
Accent (faint) : New Zealander
Ah, no need to be shy Quill. Come, let me introduce myself. My name is Bernard Whakatutu (FA-ka-tu-tu). I will have to warn you, my family has roots that run deep into criminal territory.
I’m heir to the throne. If I’m going to be head of communication for the coming generations, I must be able to show proper conduct.
Oh- Please don’t spread harmful lies about me! I wouldn’t hurt anyone out of obligation.
Plutone is polite and tries to be the toughie of the group. He's often the first to stop two people from arguing but hardly budges from his viewpoints. Despite this, he's someone with overflowing empathy. He cares very much for the people who make time to be with him. Although he tries to hide it, he cares deeply about everyone in the group, despite everyone being a stranger to him. His voice should be stable and less emotive, more convicting when it needs to be. For reference, listen to Ashe Ubert from Fire Emblem:Three Houses
Pitch : Medium - high
Accent (faint) : Italian
Well I was going to greet you but I can’t tell if it’s morning or evening at the moment. Anyway, my name’s Plutone. Plutone Marchesi. A pleasure to meet you.
We don’t have time for bickering! Come on, we’ve frozen these kind people in their tracks.
Again, we’re getting nowhere. I don’t even know where we should start to be honest. It’s easy to say we have to look more but we don’t have anything to look for.
Ellie is bright, optimistic and generally oblivious. She always walks around with a smile and is overly trusting. As Ellie lived her whole life homeless, she also very uneducated. For Ellie, it's suggested you be lighthearted and generally sound unbothered. Ellie is someone with a 'no giving up' mentality and acts the most childish out of everyone. She's a sign of innocence, so please take her very lightly.
Pitch : Medium - high
I’m Elanor! But you can just call me Ellie! You wanna know something super cool? My parents gave me that name! I’ve had it ever since.
Don’t you know? They say nicknames let you get closer to a person! Here now you give me one! Go on!
Eeeee! Hiiiii! Oh my gosh, your coat is so fancy! You must be a… police officer, right?
Quill is the protagonist of EI. He's relatively reserved and remarkably clever. His voice keeps a steady tone and he doesn't talk often. Although he is academically smart, he isn't socially aware. He often mixes up social cues or doesn't understand how to communicate effectively with others. He feels pressure easily but is competent on his own. When playing Quill, it's suggested you keep a steady tone, but a slightly uncertain one.
Note: Since Quill is the protagonist, not only will he be doing majority of the talking but he will also be required to act and convey certain emotions (crying, anger, etc) well. If you are unable to sustain a voice or scene as Quill, it's advised you don't audition.
Pitch: Medium-low
(introducing himself) Quill. Quill... no. I'm sure my first name is enough for now.
(explaining what he knows) Apologies, I don’t have anything of worth. However, if you could brief me on our current situation, that would be most appreciated.
(thinking aloud)
Although, Marianne, this does seem to be a rather bizarre situation. It's not everyday you wake up somewhere with no memory of how you got there.
Burton is cold, rude and refuses to communicate. Until you get to know him well, he pushes you away and talks down to you. Once you do know him, he turns out to be an excitable person, interested in research and studies and science. He's unemotive at first, but slowly opens up into someone fascinated by existence.
Pitch : Medium - low
Accent : English
I know and I don’t care. My name’s Burton. Burton Osbourne. Make sure you remember it. Also, don’t get in my way.
A lawyer..? What, someone’s gonna place the future of their verdict in some… kid?
Hmph… Looks like you’ve already gotten pretty comfortable. *Sigh*, make way.
Clay is relaxed and a bit of a playboy. He often jokes about mortality or other dark themes. Regardless, he enjoys listen to other people talk and learning about them. When it comes to himself, he's often shallow however. He offers advice to the group but he's often too ominous for them to understand. Generally, his voice should be somewhat aloof and calm but prone to becoming more desperate or angry as he develops. For reference, listen to Shu Amiguchi from 13 Sentinels:Aegis Rim or Sylvain Gautier from Fire Emblem:Three Houses.
Pitch : Medium
I’m Clay Atkison. Quill, huh? What a nice name. Say, how’s your feelings on mortality at this point in time?
I’m just saying, the situation we find ourselves in right now? Looks kinda similar to something I saw that didn’t end well… What’s wrong? Worried? No matter, I’ll just leave you to it.
What, like on our way here? It’s just a prison. The walls are lined with iron bars and random sheets of paper which have been either scratched out or completely removed.
Blanc doesn't talk a lot. He keeps to himself and doesn't enjoy small talk. Himself, however, he is relatively spontaneous in his own lethargic manner. He's relatively unemotive, but can pick up at times. His voice should just be stable and tired.
Pitch : Medium
(introducing himself?) Blanc. I mean, my name’s Blanc. I just didn't know what else to say. Where am I? Is this a shelter?
Slow down, you’re rushing the poor guy. So exactly how old are you?
You’re saying one of us could be in on it?
Stella is shy and reserved. She extremely quiet and meek and shies away from people or the spotlight. She was used by a cult and therefore does not know much about the world or herself. The voice actor should be able to convey these feelings of extreme fear and confusion. For reference, listen to Marianne von Edmund from Fire Emblem:Three Houses
Pitch : High
My… name? No… you must be here to hear a divine message from the goddess.
My name is not known, for I am merely a vessel for Her Holiness. I- *cough* Forgive me… these surroundings are just… not the climate I’m used to....
...Stella. You may call me Stella. To please my people, I will ask that you refer to me formally as Divine Stella, though.
As an artist for Experiment: ISOLATION, I'm looking for artists who would like to:
- Create promotional artwork for the game (entirely creative. high expectations in terms of deliverance.)
- Draft CGS art from the game (mainly sketches and concepts for in-game images. only sketches, no lineart involved.)
- Create official character art, such as fullbody portraits, which will be displayed both in and out of game (strict on style. official uses such as in-game menus.)
Of course I don't expect you to work for free! The price given is a placeholder and up for discussion.
Say something you think would fit
