A boy named Russell is made to take part in an experiment.
His room contains nothing but a bed, a pre-recorded video, and a syringe.
It seems now he has no other choice.
...
A boy named Russell moves into a new town to lead a happy new life.

Hey everyone, thank you for following this project! I would like to say that this is an update about what the future of the project will be! Currently, we have lots of wonderful auditions and I'll be listening to each and every one of them today! However, we still do need auditions for some of the characters, so hopefully, we'll be able to get more people to audition for them. The new deadline is May 10th! Until then, thank you all for your patience and I'm really glad you all are willing to help me make this project come true! <3
Russell Seager (ラッセル・シーガー: Rasseru Shīgā) is a character from and the protagonist of End Roll.
A boy lacking in emotion, but his personality seems to change with his Guilt Level.
Russell is being held on death row after being found guilty of numerous murders. He is being forced to test an experimental drug named "Happy Dream," which can only be tested on people sentenced to death. Upon injection, Russell enters a "happy dream." The goal of the experiment is to make the subject feel remorse for their actions.
"A syringe with medicine.
...Should I inject it?"
"Seems I've greeted everyone...
What should I do now...?"
"The things inside the cell are
looking at me and muttering something..."
The Informant, at first glance, is a more kind and sociable version of Russell. However, he can also be mysterious as no one particularly knows who he is and why he seems to know specific information. Often at times he can appear to be cynical and rather unsympathetic, even sardonic.
(Not in Day 1, but appears in Day 2.)
"After all,
it's you who knows yourself best."
"Hey, Russell.
I've been waiting to see you."
"...I'm the Informant.
As the name implies...
It's my job to tell you all sorts of info about this world."
Tabasa is a kind and languid young man. Despite being clumsy and easily afraid at times, he is caring and compassionate towards animals and even to strangers (noted by several characters in the game, including the Informant in the 0-1 room). Furthermore, he is shown to be empathetic and merciful, even towards those who have wronged him. He is considered Russell's unofficial big brother with his friendly and laid back nature, which ultimately lead to his death in the real world.
"Hey, you're a new face.
...When'd you get here?"
"I'm Tabasa.
I take in and raise a bunch of the animals living near town."
"Feeling restless in the new place?
I can tell you all sorts of stuff, so don't hesitate to ask a thing."
Gardenia is an honest, cheerful girl who seems to be always smiling. She seems to handle disturbing situations well when talked to during major events, although expressing concern over Russell's health and offering food to him. She can be clumsy at times as evidence when she loses her hair ornament and completely forgets about her request to Tabasa to look for it. She is often found cooking in her home, reflecting her father's professional occupation.
"Huh? Someone I don't know!
Hellooooo there!"
"I'm Gardenia!
I'm 14 and I love to cook!
Let's get along!"
"...Wow, really! I'm so glad!
I've never had a friend my age! Yaaay!"
Kantera, although rather lethargic, is a skilled medic who resides in his shop in Nameless Town. It is in this shop that Kantera brews up magical remedies that can aid Russell on his journeys. He is rather observant of the people around him and often shares wise tidbits of knowledge to those who enter his shop. He has a somewhat elderly personality, as he speaks and behaves way older than he actually appears to be. It's revealed that his elderly 'accent' is a result of his grandfather, the one who taught him the ways of medicinal knowledge in the first place. Kantera appears to get flustered whenever he has to make medicine around other people, and, according to Yumi, he doesn't have that much stamina. As a result of his laziness, he tends to also be a bit carefree.
"Ahh, do I see a new resident?
...Well-met, young one."
"You may call me Kantera.
I work in the selling of medicines.
It's a pleasure, it is."
"I have always been beyond my years, in a sense. All things my grandfather did seemed to me rather cool..."
Mireille is very caring towards people, particularly towards The Mayor, Saxon, which she's the Maid of. She seems to put quite a lot of her time into her job although she seems to fret too much over small things. She seems to be quite attached for people and seemingly has issues and fears of being abandoned, as In one of the random events after in the first few days, she seems to be nice out of the idea that someone that could leave her. She also seems much more nervous than most of the people in community, as she doesn't seem to go away from people, she is usually seen either in the Mayor's house or out thinking about the Mayor.
She seems to also have a tendency be somewhat obsessive over things, usually wondering over if the Mayor's okay or if the Mayor actually likes her or not. Although she seems to be quiet about her quite obvious crush on Saxon, everyone seems to know which could suggest she's not good at hiding things about herself, particularly about the things she is interested in.
"Hmm... ...
what does the master think of me?
Loves me, loves me not, loves me..."
"Ahhh!!
W-W-W... Who are you!?
How long have you been...?!"
"Ah... er, excuse me...
My name is Mireille.
It's nice to meet you."
A fervent believer. Thoughtful of his sister, but rather grumpy. He is described as 'slightly stuffy' by Russell. He spends most of his time keeping the town’s church pristine.
Dogma speaks formally, eloquently, and typically bluntly, but Kantera tells him that he has a pleasant voice that one could fall asleep to. Dogma also often misses social cues when talking to others, but is well meaning nonetheless. He doesn’t express affection nor much positive emotion; however, he never hesitates to reprimand or commend people when he sees fit. He is implied to be rather introverted despite this, as many characters say that a visit from him is “rare.”
"...Eh? Now who's this...
As you can see, I'm praying.
If you have any business, save it."
"...I see. A new resident.
Introductions, then. My name is Dogma.
I am the priest at this church."
"If you've any interest, even you
may enter the faith at any time.
...God will gladly accept all."
Yumi is physically strong and dependable, but can be a bit too hot-headed. As a police officer, she is deeply affectionate about maintaining the crime in the town, patrolling constantly in attempts to wrangle the Dubious Monster that has been reportedly spotted by Kantera. Yumi has a rather mild personality and often jokes that she wishes that more crime would occur to make her job less of a bore.
"Hey, kid... hold up a sec."
"The name's Yumi.
I'm the town's... well, I guess you might call me the resident police."
"It's jes...
in my nature to want somethin' to spice up the routine, y'know?"
A nurse that appears on a video recording when Russell first arrives and awakens from his Happy Dream reminding him of the Happy Dream Rehab program.
"Good morning, deranged maniac."
How do you like this room?
Is it not embarrassing for you
to live in such comfort?"
"Now, then. The "medicine"
you must now inject, Happy Dream...
has a powerful sleeping effect."
"That's all for now.
So, let's Happy Dream!"
Saxon is an elderly man who is extremely stern but shows calmness despite worrisome situations.
While old and frail, he is shown to be dignified and intelligent. As the town mayor, he puts his job first and foremost; devoted and dutiful to his position despite any setbacks. Unlike most others, he has a sense of obligation to the town residents. Saxon, although being shown as always composed, serious, and formal, he can feel gratitude to those around him. Acknowledging anyone who has helped him or giving them recognition for their talents and effort.
"...Hm, an unfamiliar face.
Is it you? Are you the boy who was to move in today?"
"My name is Saxon.
I serve as this town's mayor
It's good to meet you."
"While it won't be immediate...
We'll have to issue you
an ID card soon enough."
The person who put the main character in his room. Only shows up twice in the game.
"... ...
Hey, kid. Get walkin'."
"...Boy, honestly.
A private room for a kid like you?
That's a real luxury, buddy."
"...Alright, we're here."
Fairia Adelista (フェアリア・アデリスタ: Fearia Aderisuta) is a character from End Roll and employee at Dreamsend Guidance Inc. Her job is to casually teach and guide the dreamer so they don't lose sight of their goals.
Can freely warp around the dream world.
Cheerful and innocent, but don't make her mad.
"My name's Fairia,

The nightmare is a slender man looking figure with creepy eyes. It is first seen in the world "You" or "Russell". Interacting with these will reveal your guilt. However, at night the same looking nightmares appear, but will chase you. Interacting with them will make you enter combat with them. You may leave the battle, unless you are in the Dungeon that is summoned by the 4 compasses.
"You are within your own dream...
If you wish to return, you may.
If you do not, goodbye."
"You are within your own dream...
