Dragon Ball: Paradox

Project Overview

DRAGON BALL: PARADOX — VOICE ACTING CASTING CALL

Dragon Ball: Paradox is a fan-made 3D animated Dragon Ball series created as an original take on the Dragon Ball universe, featuring a new story, original characters, new conflicts, and a completely different journey for Taz and his friends.

Episode 1 is already released, and production is now moving forward into Episode 2 and the beginning of Season 1.

With the story entering the Red Ribbon Army Arc, I’m currently looking for voice actors to help bring the characters of this arc to life.

ABOUT THE RED RIBBON ARMY ARC

The Red Ribbon Army has returned.

What was once thought to be a relic of the past has resurfaced under a mysterious new leader, and their ambitions are far greater than anyone initially realizes. As the Red Ribbon Army expands its influence, Taz and his friends are pulled into a conflict that quickly becomes much bigger than they expected.

Throughout the arc, Taz will face new enemies, meet unexpected allies, and push himself further than ever before. Meanwhile, Ariel continues her search for the Dragon Balls, Tunba confronts his own struggles with strength and his father’s legacy, and a hidden Resistance Army fights back against the Red Ribbon Army from the shadows.

There will be battles, secrets, new characters, alliances, betrayals, comedy, and plenty of Dragon Ball-style action, while continuing to build the larger story of Dragon Ball: Paradox.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR

I’m currently looking for dedicated voice actors who are interested in being part of the project as we begin building the cast for Season 1.

Some roles may have only a few lines, while others will become more involved as the story progresses. I’m looking for actors who can bring personality and emotion to their characters rather than simply reading the dialogue.

Whether you’re experienced with voice acting or you’re relatively new and looking for a project to work on, you’re welcome to audition.

If you’re interested, check out the available roles and give it your best shot.

Thank you for checking out Dragon Ball: Paradox, and I hope to hear your auditions!

Latest Updates

  • 📢 PROJECT UPDATE — SEASON 1.1 CASTING

First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to audition! I’ve listened to every single audition that has been submitted so far, and I’m really liking what I’m hearing. I genuinely appreciate everyone who has shown interest in Dragon Ball: Paradox and taken the time to be a part of this casting process. 🙏

Just a reminder regarding final casting decisions:
The final decisions for Season 1.1 will be made during the FIRST WEEK OF OCTOBER. I don’t have an exact day set yet, but once we get closer to that week, I’ll let everyone know when the final casting results will be posted.

Also, I want everyone to keep this in mind:

If you don’t get a role this round, don’t worry!

That same week, I’ll be opening the Season 1.2 casting call, which means you’ll have another opportunity to audition and potentially join the cast. So if you don’t see your name on the Season 1.1 results, that does not mean you won’t have a place in Dragon Ball: Paradox. There will be more characters and more opportunities coming.

As for the final decisions, there may also be some surprises. 👀

Some of you may audition for one character but end up being cast as a different character because I feel your voice fits that role better. There may also be some VAs who end up voicing multiple characters throughout the project.

Once the decisions are finalized, I’ll post the casting document so everyone can check and see whether they’ve been cast and which role(s) they received.

Once again, thank you all for auditioning and showing support for Dragon Ball: Paradox. I really appreciate it.

Good luck to everyone, and enjoy your day! 🙏🔥

MAGELLAN KANE — AUDITION GUIDANCE

Voice Direction:
Kane should have a deep, mature, controlled, authoritative voice. He should sound like someone who is completely comfortable being in charge. Avoid making him sound like a stereotypical screaming villain. Kane’s intimidation comes from how calm he is.

His normal speaking voice should be steady, confident, and deliberate, with very little unnecessary emotion. He doesn’t rush his words. He chooses them carefully, as though every sentence has already been planned.

Personality & Delivery:
Kane genuinely believes that his vision for the world is correct. He doesn’t see himself as evil. When explaining his ideology, he should sound almost reasonable and composed rather than openly malicious. There should be a sense that Kane has convinced himself that everything he is doing is necessary.

When speaking to his subordinates, Kane should sound authoritative but controlled. He doesn’t need to yell to make people obey him. A simple change in tone or a short pause should be enough to communicate that someone has crossed a line.

Jackie Chun (Sub-Main)

Role assigned to: Sean Carter Jr

Description:
Jackie Chun was once known as the strongest man in the world. After spending many decades holding that title, he eventually retired from active competition and stepped away from the spotlight. Even now, many people believe he is still the strongest fighter alive, while others are desperately chasing the title he left behind.

Although Jackie has retired, his skill, experience, and reputation remain unmatched. He possesses an incredible level of martial-arts mastery, ki control, discipline, and wisdom. He often hides his true abilities behind a goofy, eccentric, and mischievous personality, but beneath the act is a serious master who has spent a lifetime perfecting combat.

In the Paradox universe, Master Roshi does not exist, but Jackie Chun fills a similar role as an older martial-arts master and former world champion. He is not simply a teacher because he is old; he is a teacher because he has already reached the highest level of martial arts and understands what it means to stand above everyone else. His retirement has only made his legend grow, especially as younger fighters compete to surpass him and claim the title he abandoned.

Voice Direction:
The voice should feel as close to the classic Master Roshi archetype as possible—an older male voice with a raspy, nasal, eccentric quality. He should sound goofy, theatrical, mischievous, energetic, and unpredictable when joking around.

Give him distinctive old-man mannerisms: wheezy laughs, chuckles, exaggerated reactions, playful grunts, and comedic pauses. His humor should feel natural and charismatic rather than forced. Jackie should sound like someone who enjoys pretending to be harmless, especially because he knows most people underestimate him.

However, when Jackie Chun becomes serious or starts teaching martial arts, his entire presence should change. His voice becomes calm, focused, authoritative, and wise, immediately reminding the audience that beneath the goofy personality is the former strongest man in the world. Even in retirement, he should sound like someone who could still end a fight instantly if he chose to.

  • Hehehe. Do you think this magazine is better? Or– hehehehe or this one?

  • Remember this, a fighter who only knows how to attack will eventually lose to the fighter who knows when not to.

  • Now, listen to me, boys! Always remember these words: Work hard, study well, and eat and sleep plenty! That is the Turtle Hermit way! We must master the art of peace in addition to the art of war!

JOHNNY — AUDITION GUIDANCE

Age: 20s
Voice Type: Young adult male, naturally deep/rough voice with a confident, cocky edge.

Voice Direction:
Johnny should have a voice with a smooth, slightly raspy, confident quality. He should sound like someone who enjoys getting under people’s skin. His voice should have personality—he isn’t some emotionless soldier.

The performance should have the general swagger and theatrical confidence of a charismatic anime antagonist, similar in spirit to the English-dub style associated with Donquixote Doflamingo, but do not imitate the actor or copy the exact voice.

Personality:
Johnny is a bully type. He likes intimidating people, talking down to them, and making himself feel superior. He isn’t necessarily screaming all the time—in fact, he’s often more annoying and threatening when he’s casually mocking someone.

He enjoys having the upper hand.

Johnny should sound like the kind of guy who can walk into a room, look at someone, and immediately start messing with them because he knows they aren’t going to do anything about it.

Delivery:
Johnny should speak with confidence and swagger. He can stretch certain words, use sarcastic pauses, and occasionally chuckle when he’s amused.

Don’t make every line overly dramatic. A lot of his personality should come through naturally, like he’s having fun bullying people.

  • Aw, look at you. You’re really trying, aren’t you? But I haven’t broken a sweat.

  • You should’ve never have come here kid. You could’ve been a regular teenager, live a regular life, but you decide to come and ruin my business?! You’re dead meat!

Voice Direction: Young female voice with a natural, confident, and energetic delivery. She should sound intelligent without being overly formal or “nerdy.” Ariel can be playful and sarcastic around her friends, but when things become serious, her voice should become focused and determined.

  • Okay… this might be a terrible idea. But honestly, it’s probably our best option.

  • All I wanted was the dragon ball, not get into any of this!

  • Ughh Taz, you sound like my dad, I already told you—the Dragon Radar is working. We just need to figure out where it’s pointing.

Description: A young fighter from Jingle Village and the older brother of Pearl. Penta is a capable martial artist who was kidnapped by the Red Ribbon Army, putting him directly in the middle of the conflict. Despite his experiences, he remains determined to protect his family and stand up for his village.

Voice Direction: Young adult male, roughly late teens to early 20s. Confident, energetic, and naturally tough without sounding overly aggressive. He should sound like someone who has experience fighting but is still young and developing as a warrior. In serious moments, bring out his determination and concern for his sister and village.

  • Jingle Village is my home. I’m not going to let the Red Ribbon Army take it from us.

  • You think kidnapping me is going to make me afraid of you?

ANDROID 8 — AUDITION GUIDANCE

Voice Type:
Deep, powerful male voice with a gentle and somewhat innocent quality. He should sound physically intimidating without actually trying to intimidate people.

Character:
Android 8 is a large, powerful android, but his personality doesn’t completely match his appearance. He’s generally calm, kind-hearted, straightforward, and somewhat socially awkward.

He isn’t the type to constantly trash-talk or boast. When he speaks, he usually means exactly what he says.

There should be a slight sense of innocence behind his voice, especially when he’s confused or doesn’t understand someone’s intentions.

Voice Direction:
Keep the voice relatively low, steady, and relaxed. Don’t make him sound overly robotic. He’s an android, but he should still have natural emotion.

When he’s confused, let the actor sound genuinely puzzled.
When he’s friendly, let the voice soften.
When he’s angry, the voice should become noticeably deeper and more serious rather than turning into constant screaming.

The contrast is important:

He looks like a monster. He talks like a gentle giant.

  • I don’t want to fight you, but you leave me no choice!

  • Stop! Don’t do it! If you let your anger win, you wont be any better than he was.

  • Thank you for helping me… friend.

RED RIBBON SOLDIER — AUDITION GUIDANCE

Voice Type:
Young to middle-aged male voice. Confident, rough, and authoritative. The exact voice can vary between actors, but the character should have a clear sense of military confidence and arrogance.

Character:
Red Ribbon soldiers are trained to follow orders and believe in the organization they’re serving. They’re not necessarily evil people, but they’ve become desensitized to the consequences of their actions.

They don’t particularly care about civilians getting caught in the conflict. To them, completing the mission comes first.

They can be arrogant toward ordinary people and underestimate anyone they consider weaker than themselves. They aren’t afraid to talk trash, issue orders, or casually threaten someone if it helps accomplish the mission.

Voice Direction:
The delivery should sound confident, blunt, and slightly dismissive. Don’t make every soldier sound furious. A casual, almost bored attitude can work especially well because it shows how normal this kind of behavior has become to them.

When fighting or giving orders, they should sound focused and commanding.

She’s willing to help Taz and his friends come up with plans against the Red Ribbon Army, even when doing so puts her in a dangerous situation.

Suno shouldn’t sound like a hardened warrior. Her strength comes from her courage, kindness, and willingness to stand up for others.

Voice Direction:
Keep her delivery natural and expressive. She can be upbeat and friendly during lighter moments, but when the village is threatened, her voice should become more focused and determined.

SUNO’S MOTHER — AUDITION GUIDANCE

Voice Type:
Middle-aged female voice with a warm but strong and determined quality. She should sound mature and confident without being overly aggressive.

Character:
Suno’s mother is strong-willed, courageous, and hopeful. Unlike her husband, she refuses to accept that the Red Ribbon Army is something the village simply has to live with.

She understands the danger. She knows the Red Ribbon Army is powerful and that fighting back could cost them everything. But to her, they’ve already taken enough from the village.

Her mindset is simple: if they continue living in fear, what kind of life are they really living?

She would rather stand up and fight for her home than spend the rest of her life waiting for Red Ribbon to eventually take everything from them.

Voice Direction:
Keep her voice natural and grounded. She shouldn’t sound like a stereotypical revolutionary giving a speech. Her conviction should come from genuine emotion and love for her family and village.

When arguing with her husband, she shouldn’t sound hateful. She understands why he’s afraid—but she refuses to let that fear control them.

When she becomes passionate, let her voice become stronger and more emotional, but don’t turn it into constant yelling.

  • “How much longer are we supposed to live like this? They’ve already taken enough from us.”

  • “I’d rather stand up and fight than spend the rest of my life wondering when they’re going to come back for us.”

SUNO’S FATHER — AUDITION GUIDANCE

Voice Type:
Middle-aged to older male voice with a gruff, slightly raspy, tired quality. He should sound like someone who has lived through enough hardship to become skeptical of everything.

Character:
Suno’s father is a grumpy, practical, and pessimistic man who genuinely cares about his family and the people of the village. His biggest priority is keeping everyone alive.

He doesn’t believe the villagers can defeat the Red Ribbon Army. To him, fighting back against an organization with vastly more soldiers, weapons, and resources isn’t bravery—it’s putting innocent people in unnecessary danger.

He’s not necessarily against the idea of standing up to Red Ribbon. He’s simply asking himself, “What has fighting them actually accomplished?”

His pessimism comes from experience. When someone gets hurt because they tried to fight back, it only reinforces what he already believes.

Voice Direction:
His normal delivery should be gruff, blunt, and frustrated, with a tendency to sigh or mutter under his breath. He should sound like someone who has already thought about the situation a hundred times.

When arguing with Suno or the others, don’t make him sound hateful. He should sound worried and frustrated because he genuinely believes he’s protecting them.

Even when he’s being harsh, there should be a little bit of care underneath his words

  • “And what exactly are we supposed to do against the Red Ribbon Army? They have more men, more weapons, and more power than we do.”

  • “Look at what fighting them has gotten us. We’re putting everyone in danger for a battle we can’t win.”

  • “Just go back to where you came from, you’re just a kid, what could you possibly be able to do huh? Nothing.”

Character Description

Pearls is the younger sister of Penta. She looks up to her older brother and naturally wants to follow in his footsteps.

She’s a young girl with a big heart and even bigger courage, but she’s still too young to fully understand how dangerous fighting can be. Despite that, she’s determined to prove that she can help.

Pearls also sees Taz as an older-brother figure and constantly bugs him to train her and become her teacher. She can be incredibly persistent and gets on his nerves, but she genuinely admires him.

Voice Direction

Looking for a young, energetic, confident, and playful voice.

Pearls should sound like a kid who is curious, stubborn, and determined. She can be annoying in a funny and lovable way, especially when bothering Taz, but underneath that is a genuine desire to become stronger and help others.

Keep her voice youthful and natural. Do not make her sound overly mature or overly dramatic.

Role assigned to: Trent Ronné

Emperor Pilaf is a small, ambitious, and self-proclaimed genius who dreams of becoming the most powerful ruler in the world. Despite his grand title, Pilaf is often insecure and easily frustrated when things do not go according to plan. He considers himself a brilliant mastermind and constantly creates elaborate schemes to achieve his goals, especially when the Dragon Balls are involved.

Pilaf is not physically intimidating, but his ambition, stubbornness, and willingness to cause trouble make him a recurring threat. He can be dramatic, arrogant, childish, cowardly, and surprisingly clever depending on the situation. He often tries to maintain the image of a powerful emperor even when everything around him is falling apart.

Voice Direction:
Young-to-middle-aged male voice with a distinctive, eccentric, slightly high-pitched quality. Pilaf should sound dramatic, arrogant, and theatrical, almost like someone who genuinely believes he is destined to rule the world. His voice should become louder and more frantic when his plans fall apart. Comedy is important, but do not make every line sound like a joke—Pilaf genuinely believes he is a mastermind.

  • Once I obtain the Dragon Balls, everyone will finally recognize my genius!

  • How dare you laugh at me! I am Emperor Pilaf, the future ruler of the entire world!

Shu is Emperor Pilaf’s loyal ninja and one of his closest companions. He serves as Pilaf’s personal bodyguard, assistant, and occasional voice of reason. While Pilaf tends to rush into ridiculous schemes, Shu is usually more cautious and practical, often realizing when something is going wrong before Pilaf does.

Despite being more sensible than Pilaf, Shu is still deeply loyal to him and will follow Pilaf into dangerous situations. He is capable of fighting, sneaking, gathering information, and carrying out missions for Pilaf. Shu can also become nervous when situations get out of control, especially when Pilaf’s plans become unnecessarily dangerous.

Voice Direction:
Young adult male voice with a slightly higher or lighter tone than a typical serious warrior. Shu should sound clever, cautious, loyal, and somewhat nervous under pressure. His delivery should become frantic when Pilaf makes a terrible decision, but he should still feel competent rather than completely cowardly.

  • I don’t know Emperor Pilaf… are you sure this is a good idea? That guy looks like no joke… Because I’m pretty sure this is going to end badly.

Mai is often the one keeping Pilaf and Shu focused when their plans begin falling apart. She can be sarcastic and easily annoyed by Pilaf’s behavior, but she remains loyal to the group. She is also capable of handling weapons, infiltration, reconnaissance, and tactical situations, making her far more competent than Pilaf often gives her credit for.

Voice Direction:
Young adult female voice with a calm, mature, confident delivery. Mai should sound intelligent, composed, and slightly sarcastic. She should rarely become overly emotional, which makes her frustration with Pilaf even funnier. When the situation becomes serious, her voice should become noticeably more focused and commanding.

  • Shu, stay focused. We don’t have time to argue. We have a mission to finish.

  • Pilaf, I understand that you want to rule the world, but perhaps we should focus on surviving this first.

Dempsey’s cockiness comes from his success. After overwhelming nearly everyone he faced, he enters his match against Penta convinced that the outcome is already decided. However, Penta proves to be far more skilled than Dempsey expected and defeats him in a memorable match.
