Deep Down is an animated thriller short film set against the backdrop of the Cold War, telling the story of the crew of an isolated Soviet submarine.

A reluctant radar tech stuck in a nuclear submarine at the bottom of the ocean at the height of the Cold War, Viktor is a living example of everything the Soviet Navy would try to drill out of a man. Sheepish, impulsive, tired of the machismatic wartime rituals aboard the sub, and longing to return to his beloved Olga on dry land. Despite being at the bottom of the totem pole, fate is about to hand him the keys to his destiny... if not his damnation.

A hardworking engineer and repairwoman aboard the submarine. Once you get past an exterior hardened by life in cold-wartime and the company such a thing keeps, Natalia is a compassionate and level-headed individual (which puts her at odds with not only the other residents of the sub, but the identity she's built to stand alongside them). When people need someone to turn to, they turn to Natalyia. When Natalyia needs someone to turn to, often times she's stuck looking at a mirror.

"Captain I beg of you, America has not struck the Motherland and I can prove it. Please."
A high-ranking member of the Russian Navy and captain of the submarine. His world is black, blue, and red all over- which is to say he's seen and done a lot of things for the "good" of others (even if at a personal cost). Authoritative and intimidating, he has the weight of the world on his shoulders, and he is not afraid to make that known to those insubordinate. At the end of the day, he's just a man trying to protect his country. What that means comes down to whoever's holding the trigger.
