Project Overview

I've been working on a web series called Dead-Beats, it's about a team of heroes with useless superpowers, trying to fit in a world of actual superheroes.

This series was meant just to be a fun project to do with my friends, but it evolved into something a little bit more. I still don't want to take this too seriously, and I want everyone working on the project to have fun. I'm not making money off this, and I can't pay anyone. 

But anyway, I came here because I need help, right now I'm working on a teaser; and there are a few characters that I can't find anyone to voice. So that's why I came here. If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of that would be amazing. I honestly don't expect anyone, but I'd love to be proven wrong! ^^

 

Even though I said I want everyone working on this to have fun, there are three things I'd require if you're going to audition :

 

        1) Have a Decent Quality Mic. I don't expect podcast level quality, but I also don't want Minecraft Diamonds ear rape, if you know what I mean. Also, please put passion into your voice, and not read it like a robot. Put yourself into the character's shoes.

    2) Don't be a ditch.  By that I mean, don't ditch the project halfway through, especially if you're voicing a main character. You have to understand that animation takes time, so you will have to be patient. And if you have a tendency to leave projects, it would only end up making it harder on me in the long run.

3)  Have a Discord Account. This is a must. If you join the project, we'd need to be able to communicate, and Discord is how we're doing it. I might let it slide if you have a 'Good' reason for not being able to use Discord. But more than likely, it'll be a deal breaker.

 

Like I said before, right now I'm currently working on the teaser, the script for that has been written, and the storyboard for it is almost complete.

I pushed back the deadline, only because there are more characters that'll need voice actors in the future; though, they're mostly villains and side characters. They will be added to the casting call soon.

I honestly didn't expect anyone to audition, especially since I don't have any money on the table. So seeing all these auditions was most definitely surprising, to say the least.

I will be closing down the roles for the main cast, and the characters that are needed for the teaser; in the next one to two days. Seriously though, thanks to everyone who auditioned!

  • Some more rolls have been closed!

    Okay okay, so I finally got around to closing the big rolls. They all took a while for me to sort through and find the best for the character. Keep in mind I only picked what I believed was the best; they were all excellent in their own rights, just because I thought one was better than another doesn't mean a thing! It was genuinely hard for me to find the right one for some, 'especially Splitliner, Grace Lee, Sharp-E, and The Penny Loafer. Actually, now that I think about it, that was all of themWell, they were all hard to pick! So I closed the rolls now because I'm working on a teaser for Dead-Beatz. At the moment, no one other than the people on casting call are aware of its existence; a teaser will help get the news out into the wild mess that is the internet. Here's a test clip I exported to see how it would work in my video editing software. I just used SpongeBob music as a placeholder, honestly, at the moment I don't know what I'll do for sound, butt I'll cross that bridge when I get there. https://youtu.be/BhvEYO4GgmE And yes, I type 'but' out as 'butt,' it's a thing I do on instinct, I always have to force myself to type it out correctly.     I seriously didn't expect that many, or more precisely; anyone, to audition. So I really do appreciate all of the auditions from everyone. I added three more roles, all of them are side characters, and I just noticed now that they're all villains, heh. While The Composer, and Lester the Molester, are more critical to the overall series, Yolk King is actually a higher priority for me, at the moment; since he has one or two speaking lines in the teaser. Hopefully, next week, I'll start the recording process and close the roles that are needed; I've just been working on the storyboards and finishing up the script. The short teaser I had planned, evolved to a pilot, and now it's basically the first episode. But I'm going to focus on the first part of it, for the teaser. I'll add a role for background Male/Female characters, and some others later. Also, there's a small chance that I'll add a main character to the casting-call if the voice actor I had for him is unable to do the roll. Anyway thanks! This is the 2nd main character of the series, she doesn't appear in the teaser so I don't need her voice at the moment. But I definitely will for the first episode, so I'm looking for a voice for her early.

She's the sister to the main character of the series, Justin Case; she has the ability to build any device she wants. But whatever she builds always falls apart in a couple of seconds. 

She's upbeat and loves her brother, but she tries to be the straight man at times when she needs to be, She's also the smartest member of the team; knowing a lot about technology.

Grace is another member of the main cast, she loves the outdoors and is quite tomboyish, yet doesn't understand why everyone mistakes her for a guy. She has the rare ability to teleport herself to the exact same location. She can also stop time itself, but she's unable to start it back up. Don't ask how she figured out she had that power in the first place, the fewer questions, the better.

  • (Sigh) Well this isn't the first time I've been thrown in the dumpster...

  • Yeah, it's okay, sometimes I forget what gender I am too.

Dr. Splitliner is an upbeat villain, he's constantly making puns and doesn't consider himself a bad guy. He's a jokester who doesn't take anyone seriously, he comes equipped with a disco machine, it shoots pink beams of energy that forces people to dance on contact. he only appears in this teaser and I have no plans for him later in the series.

He has a light, joker/clownish type of voice.

  • Hahaha! Prepare to be petrified, for it is I; the hilariously horrendous, the magnificently malicious.  Dr. Split-line-er! 

  • Why excuse me, Mam, do you need a 'HAND!?'

    (Efficiency on the hand.)

  • Ya'know, I used to be a banker man myself, but I lost interest.

Sharp-E is a crazy man who had his favorite sharpie stolen at a young age, ever since then he took to the life of crime. He believes he's a villain who needs to be feared, but no one can take him seriously in his sharpie suit. He has the ability to produce sweet, sour, and fowl aromas. The smell is so potent it can knock out, or even kill people who are exposed to it for too long. He built his sharpie suit as a means to control his abilities; it allows him to direct his aromas in any direction he pleases.



  • *Snif* *Snif* You smell that? That's the smell of victory and sharpie in the air!

  • Everyone, put your hands up and inhale; this is a robbery!  

  • Who dares laugh at *Cough* Sharp *Cough* *Cough* Oh man, where's my inhaler?

The Feather Duster

The Feather Duster is an ex-house maid, she was treated well but after an accident, she was fired from her high paying job. This small mishap sent her down the path of evil, she has the ability to mentally control feathers. Despite her soft persona and powers, she has a fiery temper and personality.

    The Penny Loafer is an evil cowboy who can throw shoes with precision; when he picks up a shoe, missing a shot isn't even possible. He has a spiritual connection to the Shoe-Force. An alternate dimension where he is able to store and obtain, as many shoes as he sees fit. He reaches this dimension through the black holes in his eyes. 

      The Penny Loafer was a chef in training, ever since he was a little twat he had dreams of becoming a master cook; cooking for millions. 

     He decided to enter a cooking tournament that could jumpstart his career. But during an unfortunate accident; an unknown kid threw their shoe into the air, and fate would have it land directly into The Penny Loafer's pot of soup. This one accident ruined the entire competition for him as the judges did not appreciate the taste of freshly cooked shoe. 

   Ever since then, The Penny Loafer vowed that he'd make the world pay; he'd make everyone feel the pain he felt as his dreams were splashed away by the soul of a shoe.

  • Well, what do we have here? *Mocking Tone* These little sneakers think they match the speed of the Penny Loafer!?

  • I'd love to let you two love-birds stop me, but ya'll just look too gosh diddly darn cute laced up like that.

  • * I realized the line I had here makes no sense without the context of the story, so either skip this last line or say whatever the heck ya' want. *

Yolk King

Yolk King is the king of all eggs. 

He originated from the planet of Htrae and was brought to the world of Dead-Beats by Dr. Splitliner. All he wants is to go back to see his kingdom, but since he doesn't have any form of space transportation, he can't return home until Dr. Splitliner's ready.

Being an egg, he can't do much and is quite fragile. But he does come equipt with a 'Yolk Staff,' it's a magical scepter that can produce any about of yolk at will.

-I honestly don't have an exact voice in mind, so be creative and picture what you think a talking egg would sound like-

  • Pardon me, but you are aware that it is considered illegal in most states to kidnap an egg right?

    And stop claiming that I went with you willingly, I- honestly don't even know who you are!

Lester the Molester

Lester, the Molester, comes from a family of well renown scientists. For years his parents tried and failed, to find a way to achieve permanent and eternal youth. But finally, after failure followed by failure, they found the perfect formula that would make anyone forever young.

But before they could publish their findings to the world, young, baby Lester accidentally set off an explosion in the lab, causing not only the loss of years of work but also the deaths of his very own parents.

Many years later, Lester, following in the footsteps of his parents; was finally able to duplicate his parents work. Or so he thought, instead of keeping him young, he found himself transformed back into his toddler stage with the mind of an adult.

  • Yep! First names Lester, last names Molester. I also have a multitude of middle names, but for everyone's sake, I'll refrain from disclosing them.

  • Nothing can withstand the power of my Molestation-Machine-Mark-7!

  • Soon I will take away all the population's youth from right beneath their noses! And then, of course, sell it back to them in the form of a cold-beverage for a reasonable markup of course.

Girth (The Composer)

Girth, aka- The Composer, is an artistic young man, with the power to create anything he can imagine, as long as he is able to draw it on an etch-a-sketch first.

All he ever wanted to be was an artist; sadly most artists aren't able to sustain themselves on their art alone. And he swiftly found himself behind on his rent, so of course, when he found himself with a mysterious and rather odd ability; he abused it to make ends meet.

He is typically depressed, and few on words, he often agrees with what other people say to refrain from starting a conversation. He loves juices boxes and can be found slurping on them loudly, much to the annoyance of anyone around him.

  • Yah um- What he said...<In a tired, lazy, tone.>

  • Come on guys, don't mark up my work- It took me hours to create these things, you obviously don't understand how hard etch-a-sketches are to operate.

  • *Sigh* Yeah- I've been told that a lot. 

    Getting an actual job wouldn't be too hard, but honestly, this is just more convenient in the long run.

I honestly don't expect anyone to want to help out on this aspect, and I understand entirely. But I just can't create any music, which sucks. I've tried multiple times, and I've failed multiple times. 

At this point, I've decided I'll simply use royalty free music. But if there's anyone out there who would be willing to compose some music, that would be amazing. I might even be willing to pay some money myself, but I'm not sure..
