Dawngate Short Story - Knuckled
Project Overview
Dawngate is (Was, technically) a title back from 2012 created by the ever-fantastic team that previously comprised Waystone Games. A world of wonder and tragedy, the vast lore from the comics, to the characters, to the gameplay itself provided so very much in its short lifespan, and gives life to the small audience it held to this day.
As a small work of passion, I'll be pushing to provide voices and audio to these in a manner similar to the above introductory video, though more specifically, the short audio linked below, or the various readings the game provided of its own accord.

This next story focuses on another character, Basko Sartazi, a thug in a semi-modern slum within Maridia, a city of ingenuity, wealth, and nobility. However, the common people know little of this, having only been subjected to upholding the merchant prince's high lifestyles with their own wellbeing. Hundreds are diseased, thousands starving, and Basko holds a position as an enforcer for a gang pushing as much food and supplies as they can while still holding a profit. Tragedy has struck his family, as with all others, and the looming dread encompasses his life, shackling his kind to the will of those stand over him.
Thank you for taking the time to look, and K4A.

Basko Sartazi, the Enforcer and main character of this short story; voiced originally by Andrew Morgado (The current voice of Saurfang in WoW, and The Kollector in MK11; for those interested.)
The aim here is to get as close as possible to the gruff tone and tact presented in the example audio provided in the link.
In addition, the VA of the character will be narrating the story, both in and out of character. As listed above, note to provide a different tone and no specific accent for the narrator.
Oh, and despite appearances, the guy's only 26. Figure that.
“Think’a yer kids. You’d lose a finger for ‘em, wouldn’t ya?... That’s all you done. You fed ‘em. Cost was a finger.” (Understanding, dark, compromising. - In-character.)
Nights spent watching the rise and fall of breath, hearing the whistle and flutter of air struggling to move, getting lost on the way. (Solemn, broken but holding together, nihilistic reflection. - In-character Narration)
She perched on the edge of an oil-strained, splintered wreck of a crate, a tattered and filthy guardsman’s dress coat draped over thin shoulders, dirty blond hair spilling down her back. (Narration.)
Ms. Kess is Basko's boss, and the current leader of a food trafficking ring within the slums. Quoting the story's first paragraph, it's noted that "Her voice had been destroyed by forge fumes and cheap gin long before the accident. " As such; you will be aiming for just that: Destroyed, scratchy, and at least mildly wise; leading an underground mildly criminal organization.
"Hey Evio... Let’s you an’ me talk.” (Intimidating, powerful, sickly inviting.)
“Everyone’s kids are hungry. Basko, your boy's hungry, right?" (Dismissive of an excuse, a question posed to Basko to mock Evio.)
“It was… I get into the role. Say whatever shit comes to mind. Whatever I think’ll put the fear of me in ‘em.” (Apologizing, Genuine, Caring.)
The Rat the protagonists are pulling in to punish. Weak, hungry, poor, and scared out of his wits.
“My kids were hungry. I needed bread. I just – just heard stuff. I didn’t n-know. So I just said, maybe, maybe–” (Making an excuse, begging, very vaguely hopeful)
“Don’t-don’t-don’t-don’t-” (Begging, crying. He is literally urinating at this point. The story is very descriptive of this.)
(Horrible, terrible screaming as his finger is chopped off; plus the pain and endless sobbing afterwards.)
A one-line guard mocking Evio by coldly remarking the above to Basko.
"Careful he don't drip on you."
To be assigned to editing the audio, adding appropriate effects, and other aspects of sound design.
