Danganronpa The Musical: Trigger Happy Havoc

Project Overview

Hey ho there fellow ladies and gents, my name is CorBY, and I'm the leader/director of Danganronpa The Musical!  You may have come to this CCC website for many different reasons, but regardless, it's clear that you want to get involved, right?  No?  I don't know, I can't exactly hear you through this description- anyway.  Let me go ahead and explain to you what this is all about.


What is Danganronpa The Musical????

Well, for starters, thanks a ton for caring, it sure does mean a lot.  Okay, so basically, I've been a HUGE fan of the Danganronpa series for a pretty long time now, and I also happen to be an avid fan of broadway and shiz like that.  So, I figured, why not try and combine the two?  Essentially this project'll consist of a series of song releases that come together to form the musical.  I write the songs, you help me sing them, and they get posted on the DR Musical YT channel.  Whether or not the songs get released on streaming platforms, I'm not sure yet, but!  For now, I know for absolute certain, that there will be Youtube videos.  Like I said earlier, I've already got plenty ideas for songs, and I'm real good at audio and all that, all I need is some other folks who can voice the characters for me, and that's where you come in!


Soo How Do I Be Apart of This Wacky Project?

Welp, there aren't many rules to this little shebang but here are the basics:

  • I highly recommend you play at least the first Danganronpa game before auditioning, let alone the others.  This series is truly a once in a lifetime experience, and you'll probably be pretty confused throughout the whole process with us, but you don't have to
  • This project'll be pretty unkid-friendly at that, so if you think you can handle some cuss words and wiggity-wack adult themes, then you shall proceed
  • I'll be handling the role of Monokuma for sure, so he's the only one that isn't up for grabs.  Every other character in the game has an open role, so start auditioning!
  • In terms of mic quality, I'd prefer you use a non-usb microphone, but if you do that's fine.  All you need is some clear-ish audio quality and a good performance, and you have a pretty good chance of getting in
  • Aaand lastly, all the usual stuff like be friendly, and be kind and yadadadada.  But!  What's most important is I really want you to have a big ol' sense of humor throughout all this, it's a pretty unprofessional project and I really want us all to just be comfortable with each other through all this.  In general. I'm hoping to make a lot of good friends because of this experience

Wow, that was actually a lot of rules.  So, I'll be assigning parts officially on the 30th, if there aren't enough auditions by then, I shall extend the deadline.  Feel free to audition for as many parts as you like, you may even receive two parts if I think you got the skill.

But here's the kicker!  I'm also looking for an artist to make animatics for every other song, so if you think you've got what it takes for that, go ahead and apply!  I'm something of an artist myself, so I'll be making some of the animatics as well.  Okay, onto parts!

  • The Day of Reckoning is Upon Us

    Whatā€™s up gang, hope youā€™re all having a bumping Saturday. I just wanna start off by saying that I am SO SO SO thankful that all of you auditioned, and in general are just showing such enthusiasm for this project! If I traveled back in time and told myself a year or so ago that my pipe dream of a Danganronpa Musical was gonna be true, Iā€™d probably say who the frick are you get outta my house, and THEN I would be astounded by it. So, hereā€™s the deal. With the casting call date being today, Iā€™m gonna start sorting through all the auditions and giving actual parts. I donā€™t think yā€™all will know wether you got the part or not until Iā€™m finished with every character, but that may change.     Corby here, first off I just wanna say, wow, 70 gosh dang auditions and itā€™s only the 19th šŸ˜³ Not sure if you folks have been spreading the news or what, but if you have, thanks a lot, and the same to you guys who auditioned too! Okay so, a couple things, first off, a lot of you guys auditioned and youā€™ve probably got a whole heep of questions regarding this project, but not to worry! A kind of DR musical direct is in the works, itā€™ll be about 15 minutes long and go over how I envision the project to work among other things, like release dates In the video, I plan on showing off snippets of some of the songs I got cooking up, and one will be showed in full with a bit of a sprite lyric video, but hereā€™s the good news! Since you lot are part of the mvps that auditioned, you get to hear the song early!! Makoto Naegi, the lead role of the story.  He has been accepted into Hope's Peak Academy as Super High School Level Lucky Student.  Makoto's biggest trait is that he is extremely average.  He's nothing more than just an average teenage boy who made it into Hope's Peak due to a raffle, but that doesn't stop him from still being excited to join the Hope's Peak crew.  He has a kind of mid ranged male voice, and a strong singing voice, as he'll be delivering the most lines out of all the characters.  I'm looking for someone who sounds close to the English VA, but if you have your own take on the character, go for it!  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, good luck!

Celestia Ludenberg, also known as Celeste, has the title of Super High School Level Gambler.  She is a very collective and cold girl, probably the embodiment of the word poker face.  She has the ability to manipulate others to help get herself ahead, but she doesn't do that too often.  On average she is polite and pretty talkative.  Her VA requires a convincing French accent (there will be a point during Celesteā€™s breakdown where she loses her accent), and STRONG acting, as well as a decent high ranged singing voice.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, good luck!

Chihiro Fujisaki, owning the title of Super High School Level Programmer.  Chihiro is shy and timid, and at that very insecure.  He thinks that he is weak as a male so he cross dresses and puts on a female faƧade.  His VA requires a quiet shaky voice, that could sound both male and female, and a decent singing voice.  Convincing acting is also necessary.  P.S., if you get casted for this role you will also play the part of Alter Ego, up until the end of Chapter 4.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, great luck out there!

For starters, Junko and Mukuro are two different people, it's just that they're definitely gonna share a VA, just tradition.  Any who, Junko Enoshima, otherwise known as Super High School Level Despair.  The mastermind of this killing game and basically the embodiment of despair.  She's got a lot going on, so I'll try my best to break it down for you: Junko is a VERY flamboyant character, she is constantly switching personalities due to how easily bored she gets, despite that, she's definitely not stupid.  She has a very cunning mind, being able to analyze everything around her and deduce different outcomes of situations.  Basically, she's a crazy son of a gun.  Mukuro Ikusaba, on the other hand, is Junko sister and her partner in crime.  She poses as Junko for the first chapter of the game until she is killed off.  Mukuro is basically just what Junko is but on less steroids, she is a teenage girl who is into fashion and stuff like that.  This VA should have a mid to high ranged female voice, a real knack for acting dramatic, and strong singing skills.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, best of luck!

Sakura Ogami, Super High School Level Martial Artist martial artist.  Despite her intimidating stature, she is a very polite person, she is also very intelligent and fights for what she knows is right.  She is also very good friends with Hina, they are eachotherā€™s training partners.  Sakuraā€™s VA requires a low female voice, a good baritone singing role, but Sakura is rather one note so probably an easier role to act.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, good luck!

Byakuya Togami holds the title of Ultimate Affluent Progeny.  With that kind of title, as you could imagine, this guy's an arrogant son of a gun.  Togami is very blunt and cold about things, he seems himself as the only worthy human being, and he is determined that he will win the killing game.  Byakuya has a mid-ranged but stern voice, his VA should have a kind of low vocal range, and he is rather one note, so maybe an easier acting role.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, good luck!

Mondo here is the SHSL Biker Gang Leader.  With a talent like that, heā€™s sure to be a rowdy dude, and he is!  Mondo is a pristine hot headed tough guy, always spouting cuss words and challenging people if they get on his bad side.  But underneath the tough guy act is a good hearted kid who just wants whatā€™s best for his family and friends.  He should have a bit of a grovel-y voice, and lower in pitch.  He should have a decent singing voice, and a strong acting role.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, good luck!

Toko Fukawa, the Super High School Level Writing Prodigy.  She is extremely VERY insecure about herself, to the point where she is skeptical about how others feel about her.  She is very blunt with her emotions and is kind of a buzz kill, but hereā€™s the kicker, Toko has a bit of split personality disorder, and second person just so happens to be the cereal killer Genocide Jill.  Jill is basically the opposite of Toko, very loud and crazy, sheā€™s not any less blunt though.  Anyway, her VA requires a mid range female voice, and a real good knack for imitating stuttering, as Toko often does that.  Like usual, a good singing voice and even better acting, as theyā€™ll basically be portraying two characters.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, great luck to you all!

(Before I start, I wanna mention that Hiro is one of the character Iā€™ve heavily reimagined in terms of personality) Yasuhiro, otherwise known as Hiro, is Super High School Level Clairvoyant.  He is a very laid back dude, best way I could describe him is like a chill stoner.  He is not the brightest tool in the shed, but you can rely on him to be a calm individual.  Hiroā€™s VA requires a low surfer dude kinda voice, and pretty basic singing skills, he wonā€™t sing much.  He also requires decent acting, not the hardest role to play.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, good luck!

Leon Kuwata, the SHSL Baseball Player.  Leon is an average loud-mouthed dude, he tries his best to live up to the 'cool' persona most teenagers are into.  Despite his ultimate talent, Leon actually has no passion for playing baseball and would rather be a musician, as he enjoys that more.  Dude is a pretty minor role, not surviving after chapter 1.  So, his VA requires a passionate, kind of intimidating yet charming voice.  Needs to be a great actor and have basic singing skills.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, great luck to ya!

Kiyotaka Ishimaru, nicknamed Taka, owns the title of Super High School Level Moral Compass.  Taka is pretty much what his ultimate talent implies, he is a very strict student who follows the rules at all times.  He is often shouting, and instructing others about not running in the halls and such.  While his talent may make him kind of obnoxious, he is a real good leader because of it, knowing when to take charge and what to do next.  Taka's VA requires a mid to low ranged voice, strong acting, and a good singing voice.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, best of luck!

Hifumi Yamada, the SHSL fanfic creator, and easily the wackiest out of all these roles.  Hifumi is basically the embodiment of a sweaty anime fan, he obsesses over 2D girls and is very passionate for his works.  Despite his appearance, he is very much not ashamed of what he has come to be, he's content with it even.  Hifumi's VA requires a nerd-ish nasally sounding voice, but also a lower louder voice that they can whip out for small gags.  He requires good acting and basic singing skills.  For the audition, introduce yourself and just say two of the provided lines.  Also, sing a song you think would fit the character, greatest of luck (you'll need it)!
