Danganronpa - The Animation
Project Overview
This project is a fan dub over the original concept by Kazutaka Kodaka and produced by Lerche, based from the Spike Chunsoft's 2010 visual novel. This manga was created by Taskahi Tsukimi.
Danganronpa Plot:
Danganronpa: The Animation is an abridged adaptation of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, the first game in the Danganronpa series. As in the game, the series follows Makoto Naegi, an average high school student who wins a nationwide lottery to attend the prestigious Hope's Peak High School, a school for teenagers who are at the peak of their chosen fields. Students with these extraordinary talents are awarded a special title, such as Sayaka Maizono, who is the Super High School-Level Idol, and are essentially guaranteed success in their future life, as graduates of the school are fast-tracked into high ranking careers. However, after stepping foot onto the school grounds it emerges that all is not as it seems when - after meeting the mysterious bear Monokuma - Makoto and his classmates learn that they are to be trapped in this school for the rest of their lives unless they meet his demands: they must kill another student and not get caught by their peers if they wish to leave.
Chihiro Fujisaki has been already cast to an offsite voice actor, so he will not be on this CCC.
Here are the Guidelines to submitting an audition to this Fan dub:
(Be sure to read everything for the character(s) you choose to audition. There might be some director preferences with a few characters)
- Little to no Microphone Peaking
(distortion of the voice from loudness)
Please keep in mind that some of these character are yelling, so you will have to listen if your mic peaks. - Prior knowledge of the Danganronpa games and show would be great, but not required
If you don't know what a character sounds like, I have linked at least one website to help you hear what we are looking for, besides one character. - Even if some of our casting crew does audition, we do NOT play favorites.
We judge on how good someone sounds both microphone and acting. - AABBCC format please!
This means doing at LEAST two takes pre character line.
Add different variation so we can get a better impression with your voice. - Little to no reverb
Reverb is the echo you can hear of your voice back into the microphone.
There can be some reverb, but too much makes it VERY hard to edit out and make you sound clean in the final video. - No Background Noise (this is fine, but too much is a no.)
You can edit white noise to make you sound more clear.
We can always edit out any sounds in the final cut, but give us your best. - A good microphone
No, you do not need an expensive mic to audition, but one that doesn't sound like you're in a Pringles Can-
Note: If you record on a phone, we will know, and you will NOT be accepted. - YOU MUST BE 17+
Danganronpa has some very sensitive topics and graphics with the games, show, and even in this manga.
Please add your discord in your audition file! We use discord to send scripts and other information!
(If you do not put it in your audition description, we will move on because we do not have contact information.)
What to expect after getting cast:
This is a LONG-TERM project and will go on for a long while until the full manga is done.
Some characters within this manga appear in other mangas, so you may be contacted to play that same character in future Danganronpa based fan dubs.
After the scripts posted, you will have 1–2 weeks to submit lines. This is so the editing process for the video can begin and get all the voice actor's hard work out there.
Be respectful to everyone within the project and responsible for missing lines or actions. We all want to have fun and get along.
Over time, there may be events that take place for the cast of Danganronpa and chances for you to make friendships with other voice actors alike!
I will be the one fully editing, sound designing, and audio engineering everything within this fan dub. I ask for patience and understanding because I am working on other projects and have some real life issues as well.
Below is a link to my most recent editing style for manga fan dubs:

Makoto Naegi (苗木 誠), is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. His title is the Ultimate Lucky Student (超高校級の「幸運」lit. Super High School Level, Good Luck)
Makoto proclaims himself to be a very ordinary person, to the point that he seems a bit insecure about it. He does admit to having one distinguishing feature, that being his unique sense of optimism. Makoto is very kind, supportive and forgiving, though slightly naive at times. He is friendly, polite and a lot more down-to-earth compared to the other students. These qualities could be the reason he seems to successfully approach and befriend even his most antisocial classmates during Free Time.

(dismal and skittish) Sayaka Maizono is dead... killed at the hands of another. This is... really happening.
(muddled and dread) What's the point of all this? Why are you making us go through this, case by case?
(bitter and resentment) There is nothing to discuss... Why would I want to talk with that monster...? He... He did it... YOU KILLED HER DIDN'T YOU?!...
Kyoko Kirigiri (霧切 響子), is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. She doesn't remember her talent at the beginning of the Killing Game, so her title is the Ultimate ??? (超高校級の「???」 lit. Super High School Level ???)
Kyoko is a stoic, intelligent, and mysterious girl who tends to hide her feelings. She has a calm demeanor and tends to be completely unfazed by most of the events that occur, even at the sight of a dead body. She plays major roles in solving mysteries of the culprits in Class Trails and is also one of very few students that see things objectively and doesn't jump to conclusions in the trial, making her a valuable ally to Makoto.

(composed and grim) Hold on. It's still too early to decide conclusively that Makoto is the killer, wouldn't you say?
(dull and direct) I wouldn't, if I were you. At least, not if you truly wish to avenge her.
(calm and content) If it means we get another step closer to unmasking the mastermind, it doesn't really bother me.
Byakuya Togami (十神 白夜) is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. His title is the Ultimate Affluent Progeny (超高校級の「御曹司」lit. Super High School Level Heir)
Byakuya is a cold and self-centered person who is very reserved. He is not interested in co-operating with others due to his own sense of self-superiority, and his opinion that others are, on the whole, lesser than him. Due to his lack of emotional ties with the other students, Byakuya was able to emotionally distance himself from the horrors of the Killing School Life, and thus proved to be one of the most competent and insightful investigators in the group due to his high level of intelligence.

(annoyed) That much should've been obvious just by looking at the scene. It shouldn't even need explaining.
(grim and cocky) You’re such a gullible fool Naegi! If Maizono had managed to kill her target, what are the chances you’d tell us about the room swap…?!
(arrogant) What's wrong? Is that it? Surely you've got more than that. Go ahead, show us.
Toko Fukawa (腐川 冬子), is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Her title is the Ultimate Writing Prodigy (超高校級の「文学少女」 lit. Super High School Level Literary Girl). She is also Genocide Jack, who is also known as Genocide Jill, and as Genocider Sho (ジェノサイダー翔)
Toko considers herself a 'gloomy outcast', often deciding to distance herself from others. She expresses her opinions freely and extremely, which can come across as mean and often rubs people the wrong way, though she claims she is just being honest. She has an unusually quick tendency to self-victimize, and she refuses to believe compliments from other people. Likewise, she also is very self-conscious about her body and tends to think that other people consider her ugly.
Unlike Toko, Genocide Jack is very loud and outgoing. She is quite lewd at times, not hesitant to harass Aoi over her figure or make inappropriate remarks to other characters. She obsesses over Byakuya calling him "Master" in the English version.

(breathy and feverish) He's here... He's REALLY here!
(distressed yelling) W-We’re doomed!! The whole lot of us are as good as dead!!
(malevolent and brash) Behind every dark and gloomy soul, lives another that shines as bright as the SUN!!
Aoi Asahina (朝日奈 葵), also known as Hina, is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Her title is the Ultimate Swimming Pro (超高校級の「スイマー」lit. Super High School Level Swimmer)
Aoi is a warm, cheerful, upbeat, and outgoing girl who is friendly and welcoming towards everyone she meets, trying to make friends with everybody and include them in her activities. Aoi can be quite air-headed and forgetful, relying on the memory trick of writing peoples' names three times on her hand in order to remember them. Due to being quite air-headed she can be easily manipulated by others and jump to conclusions or take them at face value, often being one of the few to fall for killers' tricks and misdirection during Class Trials.

(hesitant and serious) The point is, whoever he met up with is the culprit, right? So we just gotta figure out who it was!
(cheerful) Yep. I was here all yesterday evening and today. I’m not sure why, but I think the Dining Hall’s kinda relaxing. *giggle*
(hesitant and confused) The character was... Princess Piggles, from "Demon Angel Pretty Pudgy Princess", I think...
Yasuhiro Hagakure (葉隠 康比呂), also known as Hiro, is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. His title is the Ultimate Clairvoyant (超高校級の「占い師」 lit. Super High School Level Fortune-Teller)
Yasuhiro is one of the more cheery, laid-back students, though a bit odd as well. However, he is generally not well-liked and he himself has openly admitted that he has no friends, being quite cowardly, lazy, slow-witted, and having a habit to act selfishly. Notably, he is mentioned to be very clumsy with money, and he has constant problems with massive debts. Yasuhiro is quite gullible, and at first acts laid-back about the killing game, thinking it's some sort of prank. However, he does treat his classmates with general friendliness.

(upbeat) Actually, don’t stress on it, Kuwatans! My readings say you won’t make it as a musician, hit, or otherwise. So no need to bother with all that hard practice.
(annoyed) Another riddle? Man, why's this gotta be so complicated?
(irritated and muddled) We're seriously gonna keep going? We're all good, aren't we? I thought it was clear Byakuya did it!
Junko Enoshima (江ノ島 盾子), is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Her title is the Ultimate Fashionista (超高校級の「ギャル」 lit. Super High School Level Gyaru)
As a young fashionista, Junko Enoshima is described as simply "not fake", charismatic and eager to try new things. She is described as a person who "drips with dissatisfaction the moment she opens her mouth" and tends to be in trouble with her classmates. She is also mentioned to be a bit too talkative with an overly carefree attitude. Above all, Junko was deeply obsessed with despair, having found despair to be the most (and possibly the only) enjoyable emotion for her, whether it be inflicting despair unto others, or suffering from despair wholeheartedly.
Her behavior and mannerisms tended to be extremely erratic and unstable by her own autonomous design; keeping up one "appearance" for too long bores her, which causes her to often switch between her aforementioned different personas. She switched between these personas regularly, often imitating other students' expressions, which made for a highly unsettling conversation with the survivors. Her voice will either have a different tone or accent within the switches, such as "haughty superiority" giving her a voice similar to a stereotypical British monarch, her "sickening cuteness" giving her a higher pitched voice, her "clinical sophistication" giving her a more mature or deeper voice, making her speak as if she was, as her appearance suggests, a teacher/professor, her "severe depression" giving her a more sad voice, as if she was on the verge of crying, her "eerie stoicism" giving her a monotone voice, her "boisterous vulgarity" sounding similar to a stereotypical rock star, and her Monokuma one mimicking his voice.
We are looking for the same mid-low and high-mid voice range as Amanda Celine Miller/Erin Fitzgerald/Jamie Marchi. It is preferred to have the tone as Erin Fitzgerald or Jamie.

Monokuma (モノクマ) is a stuffed robotic bear and the self-proclaimed Headmaster of Hope's Peak Academy who instigates the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc.
Monokuma is often described as easygoing and cheerful at first glance, but with a very sinister undertone. However, he always rather quickly reveals his evil nature by describing killing games and his desire for despair, and he is very well known for his habit to say and do whatever he wants to. He loves hysteria, violence, and chaos, summarized in one of his catchphrases "thrills, chills, kills!".
He has his own signature laughs, a sadistic "puhuhu" ("upupupu" in the Japanese version) and a mocking "ah-hahahaha".

(serious and somber/egoist) I had wanted to avoid as many unnecessary deaths as possible… But looks like I needed to make an example of someone after all! Oh, this is truly a power oath!!
Komaru Naegi (苗木 こまる), is one of the protagonists and a participant of Demon Hunting featured in Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls due to her being the closest person to her older brother, Makoto Naegi. Because she is considered a "Demon" by the Warriors of Hope, she is given the name Slowpokemaru (ドンコマル)
Prior to the Tragedy, Komaru had a cheerful and optimistic personality, somewhat similar to her brother. She loved Makoto, telling her brother to do his best while enrolled at Hope's Peak Academy. As of Danganronpa Another Episode, Komaru began as a somewhat hypersensitive and quite cowardly character. She wavers between hope and despair as a result of her forced imprisonment. She doesn't want to have strong hope, because she believes it will be lost eventually, leading to worse despair. Furthermore, she has low self-esteem, considering herself boring, ordinary and weak. After being encouraged by Toko Fukawa, she gained a desire to at least try to escape again.

Hifumi Yamada (山田 一二三), is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. His title is the Ultimate Fanfic Creator (超高校級の「同人作家」 lit. Super High School Level Dōjin Author)
Hifumi has a verbose manner of speaking, often going on long-winded tangents about his interests such as anime or fan fiction. He also has a tendency to casually make creepy or perverted comments in the middle of conversations, especially about or to women. He can also be oblivious to how others perceive him, as shown when Toko says he smells like a "big fat ugly donkey" — he couldn't tell if that was an insult or a compliment. Hifumi is extremely passionate about anime and fan fiction and has little tolerance for anyone less dedicated to them than himself, calling them "slackers". His dream is to create a story so powerful it'll inspire others to create their own stories as well.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru (石丸 清多夏), also known as Taka, is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. His title is the Ultimate Moral Compass (超高校級の「風紀委員」 lit. Super High School Level Public Morals Committee Member)
Befitting of the Ultimate Moral Compass, Kiyotaka is righteous and values order and rules above all else. He takes his role as a student very seriously, shown when he gets upset that there are currently no classes going on during the Killing School Life. He also states he has 10 sets of his uniform so he never runs out, and so he is able to wear one every day of the year, even on holidays or days off from school. Likewise, he is shown to be very polite and respectful, as in the original Japanese release, he addresses people, even girls with "-kun" honorifics.

Mondo Owada (大和田 紋土), is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. His title is the Ultimate Biker Gang Leader (超高校級の「暴走族」lit. Super High School Level Gang Leader)
Behaving like a stereotypical delinquent, Mondo is foul-mouthed and can come off as a rude and intimidating individual. When Makoto first met Mondo he did his best to keep the conversation short, as he realized Mondo could become easily aggravated depending on what was said. He is very easy to provoke, and will not hesitate to resort to violence if he starts to lose his patience. This is shown during his interactions with Byakuya, who acts condescendingly towards him, prompting Mondo to fight back without considering the consequences.

Sakura is a quiet, kind and level-headed girl. She rarely loses her nerve and seems able to maintain clarity in any situation. At times, she can grow slightly annoyed and upset, like when people assume things like she isn't a good cook due to her looks. During more rare moments, she can lose her temper completely and become terrifying to those around her, particularly when her friends get hurt. She also gets impatient if she cannot properly train for a long period of time. Celestia Ludenberg (セレスティア・ルーデンベルク), also known as Celeste, is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Her title is the Ultimate Gambler (超高校級の「ギャンブラー」 lit. Super High School Level Gambler)
Celestia appears collected, cold, and cunning by nature. She possesses the ability to manipulate others to do her bidding and can lie with a perfectly straight face. Celestia is a very ambitious person, as she declared that she will do anything it takes to win, and is ready to go as far as murdering someone or manipulating others in cold blood. She is extremely selfish and values her life over the lives of others, stating she has no problem sacrificing others in order to save herself. She also has a lot of pride, refusing to surrender no matter how far into a corner she's pushed, as long as the chance for victory remains.

His title is the Ultimate Baseball Star (超高校級の「野球選手」lit. Super High School Level Baseball Player). However, he states he wishes to change his title to the Ultimate Musician (超高校級の「ミュージシャン」lit. Super High School Level Musician)
Leon is a passionate, hot-blooded young teenager. He often slacked off from studying and baseball practice; however, his baseball skills were never diminished due to his status as an Ultimate Baseball Star. In fact, he hated to practice, seeing no point or enjoyment in it because he was already so talented. Despite his talent, Leon claimed he strongly hated baseball and was very determined to change his current title to Ultimate Musician. He had a tendency to complain about the several things he found uncool and gross about baseball, often without any prompting from others. He was quite arrogant, often talking about his popularity and dreams of being even more famous, considering himself a 'future superstar'.

Sayaka has a cheerful, sweet, lighthearted, and supporting personality, expressing a kind demeanor and pleasant disposition, although it is unknown if this is only because of her status as an idol. Sayaka develops a bond with Makoto Naegi, whom she considers her friend, assisting him on every occasion in Chapter 1. However, she tends to hide her feelings when she is under great pressure by putting on her public persona. She cares greatly for her band members, and would not hesitate to do something if anything were to happen to one of them, including things that could hurt others. When pushed to her limit, Sayaka will do anything to achieve the goals she sets out, however risky her actions may be.

You're still up?
(uplifting and slightly uneasy) I’m proud of you, Makoto. But don’t push yourself too hard…
Blast Off! (宇宙旅行 lit. The Space Journey) is the first execution in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, as well as the series, with Jin Kirigiri being executed.
The execution begins with a spotlight shining over Monokuma, who is sitting on the floor with his "Punishment Button". Across from him, Jin is tied to a chair with his eyes blindfolded, and his hands tied behind his back. Monokuma watches as he struggles, until he suddenly pushes the "Punishment Button".
I could cast this to Jin Kirigiri, but this scene goes on for only a few panels and moves onto the rest of the manga. Having a male extra to just do a few yells and struggling mumbles would be enough for this role at the moment.
