Deadline ending very soon!
The submission deadline for Phoenix Theatre is June 1st! Don't miss it if you plan on applying!
Why do humans live? That is one of the questions we'll never get an answer to.
Why do humans die? Well, entertainment of course!
Phoenix Theatre is a video-series fangan about 17 unwilling participants who wake up in a hotel, unable to remember how they got there. It isn't long because they meet a twisted version of an educational kids show character who forces them to kill or be killed.
While the killing game format is inspired by danganronpa, it doesn't take any other elements from it.
If you plan to apply:
Please be at least 16 years of age or older.
Include your discord with your submission so I'm able to contact you.
Keep in mind this fangan will deal with some serious/intense topics and being a voice actor will means you might have to say lines regarding these topics. Keep that in mind while auditioning. If there are any senstitive topics that are uncomfortable for you, please inform me of them.
This project will take multiple years to complete so keep that in mind when auditioning. While you will get provided lines to read should you get accepted, keep in mind there will be dry periods where you'll have nothing to voice for months.
Auditions with the character's accent in mind is a nice addition but please don't force yourself if you can't do the accents. Feel free to still audition for them even if you can't do the accent.
If you have any questions regarding the project contact "Silkav" on discord.
The submission deadline for Phoenix Theatre is June 1st! Don't miss it if you plan on applying!
The deadline for Phoenix Theatre has been extended by a month, ending June 1st instead of May 1st. This is to give people more time to turn in their submissions as there haven't been as many as I had hoped.
Thank you for your understanding and good luck auditioning!
As a video editor, you will receive the assets in a google drive including: Backgrounds, Sprites, CGs, UI, Voicelines and more. Your task will be to edit the script into a video series format, there is no expectation for anything extravagant, simple editing will do.
If you plan to apply, please show me some of your previous works for reference.
The style will replicate the danganronpa series, editing examples in this style will be prefered.
Keep in mind the scripts will be very long and a lot of editing will be required.
My way of formatting scripts is "CharacterName: Dialogue here", you'll have to use the scene's context to use a fitting sprite from those available. If you will struggle with this or have some questions regarding the way the script is formatted, feel free to ask.
This role might be given to two people to split up the work.
*Say something you think would fit*
As the artist, your task is to make art of the characters to depict moments in the story. The main goal of this role is to help out with the workload that comes with CGs (artworks). The artstyle doesn't have to match the project's artstyle.
The secondary task can be splash arts, executions, closing arguments and so forth if you're willing to put in extra work.
When auditioning for this role, please upload your artworks and a timelapse.

Tulip is a cheerful turnip(?) full of energy who loves inserting himself into any conversation he can to learn and engage with the killing game's participants. He is the killing game host that will oversee and enforce the game- although he doesn't really take it all that seriously, to him the killing game is just that- a game.
He doesn't quite understand why people get upset with him watching and listening to every thing they say and do over the cameras. How else would he be able to monitor the game to ensure everything goes well?
Voice description:
Tulip is someone with a voice that is high-medium pitch. He always talks like he's happy to be there, his voice sounds rather performative at times like he's putting on a show. His voice is more emotional and less excited whenever he is confused about people not agreeing to what he's saying. To him the killing game is just a natural thing that has to happen, nothing more nothing less. Why would anyone think differently?
There are also some moments where Tulip will speak in a monotone voice, keep that in mind.
[Tulip being upset with someone with a more emotional/less performative tone.] "I can’t do anything because she technically isn’t breaking anything." "I really wish she treated this place and my time with some more respect.."
[Tulip when being asked to quit hosting the game] "Too much effort has been put into this game for it to end!" "Besides that would mean I would have to say goodbye to you all and I don’t wanna do that!" "Well with the exception of a few people- not you guys though! You guys are awesome! I just wanna hang out more often to get to know you all better!"
[Tulip being confused about someone asking why he's helping them out with something] "What’s confusing? I’m just helping like the rest of you guys. Kindness gets treated with kindness!"

Eclipse is a very curious woman who has a desire to have an answer to every single question she has. She likes being organized and notes down everything she hears, even the most minute details in case it helps in the future.
Despite her wishes to believe the other participants aren't capable of murder or going against the group, she can't help keep worrying about the potential scenarios and starts accusing everyone and everything. Even if she isn't convinced of what's she's accusing people of, she still demands explanations to put her mind at ease. In conversation, she prefers to stay grounded and steer the conversation towards her benefit.
Voice description:
Eclipse is someone who loves to ask a lot of questions. Sometimes with a curious and calm tone, other times with a very demanding one. Whenever something's hiding something from her, she won't take no for an answer and will be quite insistent on figuring it out. She doesn't see anything wrong with this approach because it's a killing game and every secret that's being witheld from her could be information crucial to surviving it. She does wish she could tone down her approach her bit at times.
Eclipse usually distracts from her constant need of knowledge with putting her mind on other stuff that require a lot of attention and concentration. She can be quite passionate about playing board games and watching sci-fi movies, analyzing every single detail.
[Eclipse defending herself on being invasive on someone's privacy] "No, I am not going to quit just because a few people tell me to. I have a right to know what they're hiding from me, I have the right to know what’s going on with their family."
[Eclipse being at disbelief at someone's theory that they'll all be let go without bloodshed. She can't understand why their captors would ever do something like that.] "Let us- what? Are you crazy???? They’ve put so much time and effort into this, they’re not just going to let us go! They’re not going to be satisfied until they’ve squeezed us out of everything we have to offer them."
[Eclipse excitedly announcing her idea with a lot of enthusiasm] "I was personally thinking something more sci-fi with space battles and giant super weapons capable of destroying planets!"

Franic is someone who always seeks for the next thing to challenge him. He tossed aside getting a job in order to life like like he wants to, using his parents wealth to fund his own path.
He'd rather work alone and not rely on others, even having done several group projects all on his own during his school years. Even though he hates working with people, that doesn't mean he hates interacting with them. Far from it in fact, Francis is always ready to have a good time and socialize with others. He's the type of person to invite people over in the middle of a workday, assuming their schedules are as loose as his.
Francis isn't someone who likes to be thrown out of his comfort zone and will try whatever he can to get back in it, even if this means ignoring or downplaying the problems at hand.
Voice description:
Francis is someone who appears relatively laid back, he's always in the mood to hang out with others, not caring for the logistics of anything he's suggesting. He rarely plans stuff out and usually just wings it. He does have a tendancy to complain whenever things are bothering him.
His voice should reflect his relaxed attitude but he should also be able to raise his voice whenever he's bothered with something.
[Francis being furious about missing the golf tournament he spent months training for] "I didn’t train for MONTHS just to be kidnapped RIGHT before the tournament! What kind of sick joke is this?"
[Francis making fun of terribly designed card game rules] "Heh, that sounds stupid. Why would you ever play that over actual card games?" "If you ever want to learn real games like poker and blackjack. You know who to ask."
[Francis being a bit annoyed that the others are taking it the motive super seriously] "You guys are seriously still on this huh?" "You're dumb if you believe someone is actually gonna fall for that motive, why are we going through all this trouble for nothing?"

Despite his age, Vio has already created several indie movies of his own. To him, these movies are merely a stepping stool to give him more experience and fund his future movies which he always aims to be better than the last until he can finally have a film he can be proud of.
He's a perfectionist who always wants to one up himself and believes he is the only one capable of leading others to ensure that everything goes perfectly to plan.
His standards when it comes to actors are incredibly high, he only hires the best of the best. Vio doesn't look at how succesful a person is or how popular they have which is why most actors are willing to put up with his behavior for the best shot they have at getting into the actor industry.
Voice
Vio is talkative and is an extrovert at heart. When he is not working his tone is inviting and calm, when it comes to putting people in their place though, he raises his voice and is rather brash and somewhat dismissive of others. He's not one to pick on people already down but he's not one to help them either.
[Vio using a blunt tone to shut someone else's antics down] “Yeah no- cut that out. You don’t wanna freak out our new guest.”
[Vio calling an idea terrible, he doesn't hate it per say but he definitely wouldn't want to use it in any of his movies. His tone should tell that he doesn't want another's amazing talent to be wasted on a bad idea.] “Terrible! TERRIBLE Idea. I know that might be suitable for your craft, but you’re working with a professional here. And I don’t settle for anything less than what we deserve.”
[Vio blaming someone for making all the actors busy, he's really frustrated at how he couldn't get his hands on good enough talent. His standards are WAY too high for him to accept good actors, he needs excellent actors for all his movies.] “Hey yeah..it was your people who bought out all the talented actors! The pay your filming branch was offering was way too much! I couldn’t get my hands on actors for MONTHS because of you!”
Information:
An intelligent but humble person, he's relatively reserved and doesn't like talking too much about himself. He's someone who is relatively passive and likes to stay in the background unless the situation is serious, that's when he'll make his voice and presence in the room known.
When it comes to work, he likes being precise and cautious, planning things out to get everything right from the first attempt. According to him, a lot of devastating accidents and mistakes can be prevented by just putting a few minutes into thinking things through. He preforms best when there's nobody watching over his shoulder and having no expectations of others.
Voice description:
Loren is someone very uncomfortable and out of his element in the killing game, he's rather paranoid and nervous all the time, rarely having time to relax and open up to others. He usually talks in a quiet tone (but not too quiet so you can actually hear him) as he prefers to stay in the background and only talks in a more confident and louder tone when it's needed.
[Appreciating an offer but turning it down.] “Thanks for the suggestion…but there’s no need for that. I can handle this by myself.”
[Loren making a sarcastic remark after being bothered too much when he just wants to be left alone.] Thanks for making this suchhh a welcoming event for me, I really appreciate being questioned every single second.
[Desperate to stop someone from beating another person up] "Hey! S-stop that! He looks like he’s getting hurt!”

He is also someone who is very difficult to impress, only congratulating those who he knows put effort and time into their work. You'd expect someone like him to be a cold person who only thinks about himself but that couldn't be further from the truth. He's rather casual in non-business related conversations and humble when it comes to his own achievements.
His voice should be a medium pitch, with an inviting and calm tone. His voice should also be able to carry authority with it. It's also important to note he doesn't talk very fast and makes sure that every word he speaks is understandable.
[Karim telling someone that their idea of having a traitor amongst them is a cheap tactic to create conflict. He should speak with contempt in his voice] “That’s ridiculous. You’re only trying to sow doubt in order to speed up the process of the game, aren’t you?”
[Karim being remaking how it's strange that someone who is usually disurptive and insulting compliments his food. He's a bit pleasantly surprised despite still not liking the person] "I don’t tolerate the guy at all but he actually had some high praise for me. It’s…rather surprising." "At first I thought he was messing with me but the way he looked and asked Harigo for his leftovers..that didn’t look fake to me. "
[Karim giving advice to someone and speaking with slight regret in his voice] "That’s no way to go about life. Trust me, if you keep going down that road there will be nobody left waiting you in the end. "

[Maurine being brutally honest regarding the inevitable death] "Whoever made this game isn’t gonna include some “magic happy ending” rule. People are going to die no matter what, it’s pointless discussing false hope. "
[Maurine expressing her discontent regarding the killing game with a hint of sadness in her voice] "I absolutely hate the idea of being here, asking people to kill each other…it’s wrong." "Taking people’s freedom and only giving it back after stealing that of 16 people is disgusting..to think a human is even capable of coming up with such a twisted idea.. "

Nate is very strict with his students and team but never cruel. He belives people have to be pushed in order to become the best versions of themselves and that there is never an easy way to skip straight to the end. He should have a medium-deep pitch voice with a calm tone that can turn into a more strict and demanding tone. Being out of his element, he'll struggle to apply his leadership skills to the killing game which will give him a less confident and more worried tone whenever something more serious is happening.
[Nate assuming the leader role in order to take control of a chaotic situation but being worried people won't listen to him.] "I want everyone to be open about who they got as their target. That way, we'll be less inclined to kill each other." "We're all in agreement with that...right?"
[Nate sharing his stance on unsafe sports when being asked if he likes parkour] "Huh? Oh I’ve uh…tried it before but it wasn’t for me." "In fact, I believe parkour shouldn’t be for anyone! It’s way too dangerous and way too irresponsible! How could people enjoy risking their lives like that?"
[Nate complimenting the group] "Great job, everyone." "Even if I didn’t contribute that much, it was still lots of fun being able to help you all out. Let's hope we can do this again sometime."

Eric is someone who is cold and judgemental towards people he isn't close with, he only shows respect to people he's close to and to people who can pull their own weight in a way that satisfies him.
He hates people who slack off and pities those naive enough to blindly trust everyone and everything. Eric has quite a sharp tongue when it comes to expressing his stance on how the killing game should be handled.
Whenever he does anything competitive he gives it his all and is extremely focused on the game even if the outcome is a certain loss or victory. According to him, if you don't try your best all the time you're forfeiting what you're truly worth and will never achieve anything in life. You can not afford to go easy for a single moment because it will put you in a downward spiral of erosion.
Voice description:
Eric is someone who has a deep-medium pitch voice and talks with a judgemental tone whenever something isn't appealing to him. He finds it a moronic idea to try to make real friends in a killing game and isn't afraid to state that fact over and over until people get it through their heads. While he may have fun with the other participants, he'll never trust them with his life.
[Eric giving advice to someone who is worried someone else might be using them. The "making friends is easier" part is a slight mockery of the idea] "Hey if it’s really bothering you, you could try and be more independent. The only person you can truly rely on to not stab you in the back is yourself, making friends here is much easier after you learn that fact. "
[Eric showing good sportsmanship and offering to give some tips after a game of chess] "Good game. Your efforts were admirable." "If you want, I could always teach you where to improve. "
[Eric being extremely frustrated about the fact how some people have been doing nothing but slack off and appear unbothered despite the very serious situation they're in] "Take those two for example, they told me they have been reading since they got here. SINCE THEY GOT HERE!" "I bet they woke up here and then decided ‘you know what, we can’t be bothered to do anything so we’re letting Eric do all the hard work for us’."
